ok so i just acquired a intempo i.d. spirit 7" tab.
its running android 1.6
model number: generic
kernel: 2.6.29-00236-g4f8dbbb-dirty
build number: 1.9_710cu
via 8505+ processor 400 mhz
256mb ram
2gb flash
now, is this worth keeping or will i get bored quick?
iv searched all over for anything on this item and found very little other than the obvious, they aint anything special.
is it possible to update the android version?
can i root it, flash a new rom to it?
can i get the proper market app on it?
any help or advice on this tablet would be much appreciated
cheerz in advance
It looks like you just wasted your money and will in fact get bored with it very quickly. Compared to high end devices, this could never compete. 400mhz processor - Outdated; Android 1.6 - Outdated; 256mb Ram - Low end device. Your tablet does not have multitouch (since its not supported until Eclair). You won't be able to play any good 3D games; run any apps properly which require multitouch, and most applications no longer support Android 1.6 anymore. Also, from what I know, there is no update and no custom roms for it (but you can still check). Just search around here somewhere for the market apk.

will anyone be developing for the above device?
it may be a budget device but everywhere for months sells out as soon as they are in stock so it is going to be fairly popular if not already.
it runs 2.3 but has a 1ghz cortex a8 i think it is and 512mb ram so i think it could run android 3.2 or even ICS.
there may be a generic rom for the type of processor it runs(not sure??) but i wouldnt have thought that would be ideal.
i am not a developer but was curious as it is an excellent budget device and recently won the gadget shows budget tablet award.
any ideas anyone?
Ok
Starting a new thread here because i have read that all the turbo devices that have the omap 4460 cpu inside should have 1gb ram and that is not the case with my device. for info purposes i have the archos 80 g9 turbo model running ics and the cpu is the omap 4460 running at 1.5ghz but the ram is only listed as 512mb which is all a bit disappointing.
i have checked the hardware config using android system info and it confirmed everything i have written above and that even though i do indeed have the 1.5 omap i still only have 512mb ram. so i am wondering what is going on?
by the way ics is installed and i am running the latest firmware.
so can anyone enlighten me? is it only the 101 models that get the 1gb ram and if it isnt and the 80s should also have it then what am i missing?
I have the Archos 80 G9 Turbo model also running a 1.5 CPU and 1gb ram, and running ICS, how do you find your CPU model number so I can compare?

how do you know you are running 1gb ram? it doesnt say it in the settings at least not anywhere i could see.
the cpu model is listed in the settings - about tablet and it is listed under OMAP version mine is the OMAP4460 ES1.1
if you install 'android system info' it is a decent app and it will list everything to do with your device set up.
that is how i found out there was only 512mb ram... there isnt even 512mb ram as it goes it is listed as about 488mb and i will say not a lot is free so having 1gb would be welcome here.
oh yes i called archos and they said they would call me back later today or tomorrow but it would be good to get a bit of user feedback here so i can be better informed when and if they do actually get back to me.
OK just checked and have the same CPU as you, I use Android Assistant to see my memory.
Edit: My memory is 892.98mb apparently the missing ram is for the system. Seems its hit and miss what spec's you get with your archos lol

yes very poor show here i have to say. i bought a turbo model and although i wasnt sure which cpu was in there i was hoping it was the 1.5ghz one because everything i have read points to that having the 1gb installed. amazing that i get the cpu i want only to find it doesnt actually have the ram it is supposed to.
bleeding annoying really. archos really should simply concentrate on making one device that is well made and works properly (getting loads of bugs appearing regarding the archos music player that refuses to close once started!!!) instead of releasing the same model but with loads of random pot luck specs.
may need to sell this on pretty sharpish much like i did the 70 it. hopefully one day i will learn my lesson and simply avoid the brand.
will try installing a custom rom later to see if that helps but i aint holding my breath.
well i am gutted. i called archos back today and the guy (who was actually very helpful) said that only the models that were released after march came with the 1gb ram and it has nothing to do with the turbo model or the cpu. basically the only way to be sure is to buy the model with ics on the box.
oh well. i guess i will be selling it on. thankfully i got it cheap so should be able to get my money back. shame really cos despite its very budget nature (and numerous flaws lmao!!!) it dont seem half bad.
Hi all, Please redirect me if I'm in the wrong place! I bought this phone a week ago to replace my old slow one. This seems to be no better. I bought it thinking with a quad core processor and 1gb ram it should be relatively quick. On receiving it I find out it's only got 512mb ram. Here are a few details about the phone.
MODEL NUMBER V9
(USA111 IRULU X9)
ANDROID VERSION 6.0 (? DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS RIGHT)
KERNEL VERSION 3.10.72
BUILD NUMBER LMY47L TEST-KEYS
CUSTOM BUILD VERSION ALPS.L1.MP6.V2_MAGC6580.WE.L_P35
I just need some advice really I don't understand how it can be so slow. Is it bottlenecking with the ram being low? Is it a unstable os? I have tried RAM EXPANDER and it currently has an extra 4gb VRAM but it doesn't operate any quicker. I can't play most games on it and when recording a video it just records bits and freezes. Surely something is wrong?
Anyway any help would be great, thank you. :highfive:

OK- I was recently given a Bauhn Tablet WL-101GQC, Android 4.1.2, Baseband FW8955m-V1.1.6.0, Kernal version 3.4.0+, build no. V3.1.6.0-Bauhn-V002.
I've never had a tablet before but I'm one of these people who build their own computers from scratch. So my question is is what can I do with this tablet? I'd like to upgrade the Android version but I'm told this tablet isn't compatible with the latest Android o/s. So what exactly is stopping an upgrade? What parts or components etc?
Any ideas?
This unit works fine by the way.
regards
@roberthansjorg

IMHO the question is what you want to do with this device? Playing heavy video-games, watching movies/vids, compute fractals, texting ...

Thanks for the reply.
I suppose I'm looking for an excuse to upgrade the Android o/s if I can.
I don't bother with video games but I am a movie buff.
Currently I'm using this tablet for e-books and audio books.
Texting/e-mails etc word processing. Yes I'd do all that too.
What's the deal on changing any components? Is that feasible if you know what you're doing?
If I wanted to "soup" this tablet up how far could I go?

@roberthansjorg
Personally don't think you can upgrade the hardware: yes, your device's bottlenecks are both the RAM and the capacity of internal storage. Even if you would replace some hardware components where to get the related drivers and how to implement these in existing Android OS?
Also it's probably impossible to upgrade device's Android OS, unless you find a Cutom ROM that matches your device.
But you can try to improve device's performance.
Hello!
I have an iBall slide DD-1GB tablet. I have Android version 4.4 Kitkat in it. But as many applications don’t support it I want to upgrade it to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
I have checked the OTA for update, but without success. Also, I have done a lot of searching on the Internet but i fail to get what I need.
I would be very thankful to you if u help me.
Pls!!!!!
@ItsHitesh
The tablet can be considered as heaviy outdated, when it comes to run today's apps/games.
IMHO it's not ready to get its Android upgraded to Android 5.x, this because tablet's hardware doesn't match the minimum hardware specs Android 5.1.1 and higher itself and apps / games require. Take note that Android 5.1.1 OS exclusively needs ~500MB RAM.
For example,
PUBG Mobile exclusively needs at minimum 2GB RAM and 2GB free storage space to run at lowest possible settings,
Call Of Duty Mobile exclusively needs at minimum 1.5GB RAM
Legends Of Lanterra exclusively needs 2GB RAM & 1.2GHz quad-core CPU
and so on - the list is endless ....
