I want to disable fast boot in my photon 4g. How do I accomplish. Any help will be appreaciated. I am rooted using stock rom.
Since when has fastboot been enabled?
Isn't that a feature of HTC phones?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Yeah, it was an option with the 2.3 update. I've never seen it on the stock Photon, unless you download quickboot, you don't have that option. Lol.
Fastboot is on every android phone. As far as disabling it im not sure. Why would you wont to? How to get into fastboot hold volume down and power button at the same time volume up to select

Thanks, Need to disable because animation I am working on gets cut off.
ok this is a thread full of misinformation. fastboot isnt on every single phone. its a program used to flash firmware. this phone boots up as slow/fast as its gunna get, on that note how can you possiblely need more time? this phone takes forever to boot up compared to my nexus/epic
Every phone does have fastboot but htc sense devices enable it by default right? Ive never heard of an aosp rom doing this...

My phone started the day by not booting after a reboot. It stops at rethink possible and the screen will stay on forever and do nothing. If I swipe the fingerprint I get a double vibe like it didn't accept the scan. The only thing I have done to the phone is rooting it.
I did notice one thing this morning. I took it out of the laptop dock and the icon for the dock stayed there even after I then put it in the car dock. I then rebooted it because it had frozen and never came back up. Help!
At me too, my atrix was freeze on loading screen "rethink possible". That I wanted to make all before, to reboot it.
I tried to pull out a battery but unsuccessfully, always freeze on boot screen.
Please help me, i really don't know what i need to do.
And i can't call to motorola support because I live in Russia.

I am not home at the moment, so I will post links to flashing sbf guides after I get home tonight.
You get to RSD by holding down the volume UP button while rebooting until it days RSD Protocol at the top of the screen.

Your advice is sound. Many such bootloops can also be eliminated with a "fastboot -w"
Not really sure what specific changes in /data (some .db setting somewhere prolly) can cause it to barf on boot but it happens a lot, especially when switching builds (froyo->GB, etc)
After trying to use Revolutionary to root my phone, it rebooted to fastboot twice and gave me the error "Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted" and said "Press (almost) any key to exit..." so I just pressed enter and rebooted the phone from the fastboot menu. The reboot was successful.
Should I try running revolutionary again or am I doing something wrong?
I didn't do temp root + factory reset if that matters but the guide said it wasn't required.
EDIT: Although I got those errors, it gave me S-OFF and allowed me to flash the files needed to root. Looks the issue was resolved. Thanks for your help!

I tried it again and it got the same issue. It rebooted into fastboot once, rebooted into fastboot again and gave me the same error. This time, I booted it up and it did the hands-free activation on my phone. Did it successfully S-OFF?
I also read that I have to disable any antiviruses I have. I don't know how to disable McAfee, but could that potentially be interfering with the process?
it may have! you can check if its s-off by rebooting into the bootloader and looking at the top of the screen.

Alright, I just unchecked it from the power settings. I don't think it should matter since it still boots into fastboot. Is that an official part of the guide?
I'm running it and hoping for the best.
EDIT: It still gave me the error, but I have S-OFF and it says -revolutionary- at the top. Does this mean I can continue to flash TWRP?
EDIT: I flashed the PG86IMG-TWRP zip. It worked.
EDIT: I flashed the Super User zip and I have super user now. I guess the rooting was successful. Thanks shaanwarrior! I can piss now...
well if you uncheck it you can get into the bootloader easy. just press and hold the volume down button for about 3 secs and then press and hold the power button. keep holding on to both then u'll see the bootloader!

The thing about rebooting into bootloader is that I can't turn on my phone after turning it off with fastboot off until I take out the battery and put it back in. I will just download the fastboot app to boot into bootloader, recovery, etc.

I also remember reading a thread about somebody saying their friend had a problem that was this. (or similar? can't remember.)
I have this same issue, I have tried multiple computers, with and without the SD card in the phone, with and without the fastboot box checked, I have 2 EVO 3Ds, both with 1.40.000 and this method worked for one but not the other, any ideas?
Thanks for this post! I had an issue with my root on a different device... but it turned out what you did wrong is the same exact thing I did wrong.

I was trying to flash shabbys kernel and I installed the CWM Bootstrap. It went well untill It came With a message saying "fail to boot 2 starting RSD mood". I was rooted stock with Bootloader lock. Any help please?

Just for others info, I believe you need a full cwm with unlocked bootloader in order to be able to flash kernels.
Yes you do. The bootstrap will only work with the P-Rom's like Laser, once you unlock bootloader you do need the custom CWM. Which is what I ended up having to install. Works good though. :]
What is the best way to flash mr5? Is there a guide? Thanks In advance

Im glad that all the devs put up indepth guides for all of us noobs to follow along with, especially the ones where they skip steps that we all should know by this point!
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium

Follow those steps......Then when RSD asks to manually power up the phone do a battery pull and when powering back up HOLD THE VOLUME DOWN KEY till it boots into recovery. Then scroll down with the volume down key to "boot Android (no BP)" hit the volume up key. Let it do its thing. You should be up and working again.
These are the steps I used last night to solve the EXACT SAME problem you have....My device is now working again I just have to reactivate it when I take the loaner phone back later.

Most of it is cuz us noobs want to try stupid **** to see what we can get away with. That is why I did what I did yesterday, I was about 95% sure it would cause a problem but I chose to do it anyway.
So I have a new problem after restoring my device. Now I can't install any new apps from the market.every time I get the message "can't install ____ due to insufficient space on phone" of am at work now but I an gonna try to figure this out tonight.
Every time i plugin my phone It rellano me that battery is too low to flash. How do i charge It? It turns on every time to the fail to boot message

Okay, so I just bought my Galaxy S2 a few hours ago came home and went to root it just like I've done every android phone when I get it. So far I've had a G1, HTC Hero and a HTC Evo 4G. So I'm not really new to doing any of this but I wouldn't say I'm any expert either. I used the tutorial for rooting from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301682) and it was this youtube video. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-2Z2dKsuio) I tried to do it and got all the way until the point where you push start and then it said that it failed. Now all I can get my phone to do is pop up to a screen that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I have looked for a recovery mode option in Kies but can't find anything. The only thing I find is something about an Emergency Recovery and when I try that it asks for a pin or something. If anybody can help it'd be awesome!
What were you trying to flash? with Odin, right?
Remove the battery, hold both volume buttons, plug in USB, keep holding volume buttons.... does it enter download after ten seconds or so?
Try with this stuff using odin if you can enter download.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
Then enter 3 button recovery and wipe data.
See if it boots.
Disclaimer: I'm no pro. This is just what I'd do. I'm not 100% certain new phones are identical to phones from October 2nd.
