[Q] Kernel Mod - Android

Hi to all,
Just want to ask how to mod a kernel? I have a Huawei Sonic U8650 and the Rom is fine Gingerbread 2.3.3 but the phone has some kernel limitation on ram (Taiwan version 512RAM European version 256RAM) and also i would like to OC so I can overclock the CPU. I know it's a low cost phone but I think this would help many users around 'cause is very sold in Spain Italy Croatia and so on.
Thanks for your time reading this post.
Good work to all!
Regards Goran

I have done some research about this Rom version because I didn't know this Rom version but it seams to be a South East Asia Rom version you have.
If this is correct, that's the reason way you can't access the new Rom on the HTC website because it's based on EU users.
so as in htc doesnt provides any support for the south east asian versions?

Thy are probably working on it; even the EU version don't support every language fore the moment.
Ow, I don't recommended to flash this EU version on a hard way. Some peoples have tray it and it isn't a good thing, trust me.
but i need a new rom i guess bcuz my leo is lagging while using...im new to the cooked rom stuff but can the cooked roms get the job done for me?

Yes, cooked Rom are more flexible!
It isn't complicate just read and follow the information that the Rom builder mention.
thanks kurt! ..btw just wanted to know if htc releases the roms only for some specific region as in will they actually release a south asian rom update? and can you point me to some thread relating to battery life of the hd2? deosnt last a day with all the updates turned off

- Yes official HTC Rom updates are regional
- When will thy released a south asian Rom?? I don't know I don't work fore them, and there isn't a logic?
- Battery live is related to different point's; most influent is the Radio version.
I must be honest till yesterday personally I was only satisfy with the 1.07 radio I tray them all, just yesterday I tested the new 1.15 radio and I must say "thats the one!" fore my used, it depends of your location and in combination of the Rom
If you don't have a clou about a Rom take a look on the Artemis Rom (It's the one I used, and very happy with it) (You can find the link in my signature)
PS this is a suggestion, based on my experience but I'm sure if you ask 10 peoples with one is the best Rom you will get 7 different answer if it is not 10!

[Q] Which Generic Firmaware is Suitable ?

Hi i am from India and i have purchased my xperia x10 from Vodafone Australia. How i can debrand my phone and what would be the suitable generic firmware version for my phone. Currently my phone bese band version is 2.0.46 and build number 2.0.A.0.504......Please help.
see u can debrand and use Wolf's Custom Rom which is the best and ya u can even change the baseband so its not a issue !! u can check the various forums for installing custom ROM's actually custom is far better than Generic ... and smoother , faster with lotta features too..
THank me if i helped u !!

[Q] noob question

i use a samsung gt i5801 galaxy apollo. on uk orange network. i want to change my rom. but the one i want to use is based on asian firmware. my question is will this work on my phone?
Depends on exactly how different it is. If it's built for a different radio technology (GSM or CDMA) then you shouldn't try it.. if the Asian device has any different hardware or no English language pack then you shouldn't use it.
so in that case. can anyone recommend a better rom for my hardware. if you need any specific handset information i can provide it?
Try googling for it, to start, here is a thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1283460
Every Android rom contains all the language files, so the only concern is whether this foreign rom would work with the network of your mobile operator.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
im having real problems finding anything useful. i will include my hardware info, hopefully someone could help me?
Model - gt-i5801
firmware ver - 2.2
baseband ver - i5801bvjp1
kernel version - 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
build number - froyo.bvjp1
I see sammobile only has one for europe and one for asia, what did you have in mind?
i need something that doesnt chew my battery up so much. and also something that doesnt freeze up all the time. any ideas?
well i took the plunge and i flashed my first custom rom kyrillos v9.0 jpu with g3mod kernel. works great takes some getting used to though. thanks for all your help. Now updated to 9.5. works wonderfully.

Chinese phone Star galaxy i9220 baseband and rom changes

Hello everyone,
I address your genius to tell me if anyone knows the baseband MAUI.11AMD.W11.37.SP.V17.F1, 2012/03/14 4:54 p.m. on the phone is Chinese Star galaxy i9220
My problem is that you just made me a gift this phone but the google market is asia version and no way to install the android market European instead, so I will have wanted to extract the rom, the change by changing the android market and then reinject it into the phone, or if it can work, put a rom CyanogenMod without changing the baseband but the unlocking.
I swim a little there because I know the whole procedure but only on sony xperia x10.
If anyone can help me it would be really nice.

Why am i stuck at android version 2.3.4 on an unlocked s g sii?

Hey guys ive had this phone for a good while now, i keep hearing people upgrading their phones to this version and that... and now i see people upgrading "officially" to ICS android, how come that everytime i check samsung skies it says my phone is up to date with android version 2.3.4?
Are these updates trully official? My phone is unlocked so thats not an issue, i feel like ive been missing out alot of stuff :\
Any info regarding this is welcome with my best regards.
why not dl any of official rooms like LP7/8 n flash with odin ?
There is probably not an official ICS release for your carrier or region and there hasn't been an update since GB 2.3.4, you aren't alone in this Bell Canada hasn't ever updated their phones via Kies from 2.3.3 and likely never will, this doesn't prevent you from using Odin to upgrade from GB to ICS, if you do it with an official version you wont end up rooted and you wont increase your counter, it may be quicker to do this instead of waiting, you can always go back and upgrade via Kies if/when your carrier/region receives an official update.
2.3.4 is the latest GB version for unlocked S2's in the UK. Samsung have realeased ICS to the mobile operators first. Their reason for not releasing it for unlocked phones yet is that they need all the mobile operators to verify it works on their networks. Seems reasonable to me.
You can always root and install one of the many ICS custom roms that are already available. Personally, I've tried a couple but will be sticking with GB for the time being. It's faster and has better battery life for me.
HTH
Maybe because you live in Outer Mongolia or you have a special version of the SGSII.
You need to give a bit more detail of your country, the model and the firmare.
Settings -> About phone
Model Number?
Bseband version?
Kernel version?
Build version?
You say that the phone is unlocked, was it locked to a network or has it always been unlocked?
Hey guys thanks a bunch for all your replies, i live in Portugal and my samsung galaxy s2 is unlocked, i find it quite shocking that UK is facing the exact same problem... maybe i should get it rooted on this current version? will i loose warranty if i do that?
Ive got the exact same problem except mine was bought from Greece. This blows.

Thats just hearsay people have all sorts of weird issues with their phones all the time that make me scratch my head as mine works perfectly it did on GB and works just as good performance and battery wise with ICS.

thanks for the info, ive been reading a bit of that thread but i would like an official version of ICS for portugal ill let it get more stable too, i really dont want to format my phone just to switch back because of some issues ppl report with some of those versions but thanks anyways.
I guess samsung galaxy s2 newer firmwares are not released yet to europe, imo samsung should have done more with a phone of this performance... and price.
dont bring whole europe into it
its specific parts that dont have it yet. uk unlocked is already out few days back.
get checkfus download to see when you get official ICS for your region.
sammobile too
