Guys, this topic is for the developers. Shut up and let them do their job.

I think a lot of things to fix, but root access is very important at this time
Changelog:
1. Root access fix
2. rfs filesystem support removed
Don't forget to press the Thanks button

Excellent any chance we can have a new build uploaded taking in the fixes that have been expressed so far? Ideally in a completely new thread to the current KANG-Beta/CyanoAce and lock the old? It's starting to get really messy.
Apologies for posting that reply here but saves making a new post.

[KERNEL] [ICS] [Stock WIFI restore] Stock ICS with init.d support+root+cwm! [25 May]

Latest Kernel mod -> Go Here
Based on 4.1.B.0.431 ICS 4.0.4 Kernel, features new CPU governors and autoroot.
Q. Who would benefit from this?
Those who want to stick to stock kernel for Official ICS (4.1.A.0.562), but would still want to get the benefits of init.d scripts, and native root access!
I personally feel ICS stock kernel is more battery friendly than Night-elf RC2 kernel.
Q. Features?
- init.d support (credits DooMLoRD for showing the way)
- ro.secure=0 (that is now adb has native root access!)
- clockworkmod 5.5 (credits Night-elf)
- no other changes to stock kernel
Download
boot_ICS_plus_v5.img
Changes: Previous features +
1. Switched to Doomlord's arc ics recovery (better features)
2. Important bug-fixes. (Please update!)
boot_ICS_plus_v4.img (updated 2012-05-19)
Changes: Previous features +
1. Perfect ADB connection in recovery.
2. Short vibrate on entering recovery added
boot_stock_ICS_initd_root_cwm_v3.img
Changes: Now restores stock WIFI modules (so you can directly flash from Night-elf kernel without losing WIFI!)
Those who are using v2 without problems do not need to update!
boot_stock_ICS_initd_root_cwm_v2.img
Changes: CWM 5.5, with ADB & USB mount (credits Night-elf)
Q. How to install?
Just as you install a custom kernel.
If no wifi, just delete "modules_version" and "modules_reversion" in "/system/lib/modules" and reboot
Steps:
1. Follow this guide to install official ICS + root
(Do not install CWM)
2. If you already have DooMLoRD/nAa CWM, go to /system/bin with any root explorer and delete recovery.tar and chargemon
3. Power down device and get into FASTBOOT MODE -> switch off device hold menu key & plugin usb. (LED notification turns BLUE)
4. check fastboot with "fastboot devices"
5. flash boot image
fastboot flash boot boot.img
6. Reboot with "fastboot reboot"
7. Enjoy!
Nice job!! Thanks!!

That would be nice too.
Most important is CWM recovery.
Don't want to add it manually after flashing rom..
Yeah would be nice to see recovery, cause system recovery doesn't allow to mount sdcard in recovery mode, moreover adb cannot see phone in system recovery.

NO, NO !! His ramdisk has installer for his WiFi modules!
Would have to modify his ramdisk anyway!
Night-elf kernel is good, but it is not from latest ICS sources, I feel battery drain is a little bit more than his GB kernel!!

Yep but that is no big deal. Make a diff patch for the new ramdisk (there shouldn't be much changes, and there is just a few files on the ramdisk...) + remove res/modules folder and launch entry from init.rc.

Good one, but no busybox ?
Why is it that every time i use NE's kernel i end up with no wifi when moving to another one? It's really annoying, ffs
Oh, and your kernel seems really fluid, had no issues on gaming, while i had on nightelf's and inteks'.
Because NE kernel has own wifi modules, which not working with other kernels.
Both this is not the NE kernel's topic.

[DEV Request] pre-rooted ICS stock kernel < Xperia U >

For those that have/can developed kernels:
We really need a decent pre-rooted ICS stock kernel for the Xperia U.
The current root hacks work, but are not proper.
They don't install BusyBox correctly and with it we lose the ability for advanced shell scripting.
My own app depends on the ASH shell scripting capabilities and is therefor only half functioning under ICS.
Since I sell it and make a little bit of money ($50 bucks up till now..) I want to offer a small incentive to make it fair.
And will reward a $10 donation for the person that can make a decent kernel in the next week.
I know.. it won't make you rich
It's just to make clear that I don't want to profit from your knowledge and time as it will help me and other ROM dev's allot.
Thanks!
I donate another 10.

Im not sure because I dont needed it till now, but with the Flashtool you can install root (with busybox) and you can install busybox seperately.
Got that message in Flashtool::
INFO - Installed version of busybox : BusyBox v1.19.0 (2011-08-14 23:46:58 CDT) multi-call binary.
LEDs-U-CTRL makes my leds being a rainbow ^^
Also v13 of bi4nary (?) works.
But yes, will also donate some bucks for a cwm kernel.

I know, but it doesn't do the job fully correct. I've tried this method and the Binary Root.
With both ASH scripting doesn't work after using these methods
besides this a pre-rooted kernel is a good starting point for more rom tweaking

could you just for the fun go into a shell emulator and type "ash" (without quotes)
it will most likely tell you " not found "
LUC does work, but the speeds are wrong, all blinking is ~10x faster then on GB as the speed-regulation script cannot function with ASH.
For now not a problem, but am working on version 2.0 which will blend from color to color.. and that one completely disfunctions on all ICS roots (not only with me, but also the beta testers)

i will fix these problems in next version
ok thank you very much, good from the ROM is that at first glance seems faster than other CM10, I hope those little problems solutions for everyday wear
I've installed the ROM today, by the way magnificent work, especially thanks for minimizing the size of this beauty. But ( I think ) there is a problem. For me the Superuser app is not working quite well ( well, not working at all ), because its denying all my su permissions. Can anyone have the same problem, and can I just replace the superuser app with not loosing my root permission?

If I go in the Terminal emulator then type in "su" it makes two things
--> 1. It gots frozen
--> 2. It's returning with a "permission denied"
And it does that to aaaaaaaall the apps where I need root permission simple is that

[ROM] AOSP 4.4.2 lite and slightly modified [franco kernel] [BB/Rooted] odex/deodex

This is a stock rom built from the image and binaries from Google repo with a lot of things that I don't use removed. Nothing fancy, just a good light stock reliable ROM. With the franco kernel, this ROM is fast and stable and the battery life is really good.

-Root by Chainfire
-Busybox'd with included BusyBox App by Stephen (Stericson)
-Kernel by franciscofranco http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2508284

-Default wallpaper by Ashutos1997 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2490289
-Adaway http://sufficientlysecure.org/index.php/adaway/
-Filemanager V 1.16.5

-Magazines
-Music2

* I realize that there are people that use Email and Exchange; Therefore, I have provided a flashable update package that will restore both of these apks.

Custom Kernels
Do I need to use the kernel that comes with this, or can I load a custom kernel?
you can flash any kernel you like. I just used franco's kernel because It ROCKS! Not to mention rock solid and updated frequently.
Post #5700 of the franco. kernel thread, is instruction laid out on how to revert to stock or I imagine whatever kernel you would like.
How is the franco kernel "slightly modified"???
---------- Post added at 04:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:05 PM ----------
and which MMS is included with the rom?

Just to know... where did you get aosp browser and sync ? Is there a flashable zip ?
I'm currently using the one compiled by mrjaydee82, it's working very well with minor issues, i would like to try something different.
