I lost 3g access after gingerbread f/w update: Wrong firmware? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm in South Korea, using a sony x10. I wasn't sure if the latest gingerbread update would be released in my region, so I decided to flash the firmware myself to the latest stock gingerbread (2.3.3).
Afterwords I lost 3g access and my carrier says it's my fault or nothing they can do.
Afterwards, I rooted the phone and installed a custom kernel and still it's not available(I figured it was worth a shot).
I can see and select my mobile service provider(Sk telecom) in the list of data service providers, but my phone is not downloading any APN info from my carrier.
Any advice?

Hi,
search for APN information from your provider in the internet and enter them manually.
Somehow my APN got two additional letters and I had no 3G. I corrected the information manually and all is fine now.

You need to set up your wireless apn go to:
menu/settings/wireless & networks/mobile networks/network mode/gsm/wcdma preferred (click it)
Then Back button/Back button/sony ericsson/settings download then wait a few you will see it (3g/H) flash on (you do not have to click it it's just saying that is your network) then go to:
Back button/wireless & networks/mobile networks/access point name. there should be two apns
one wireless/one mmsc. if for some reason you have three make sure that the top one (the house icon 3g) is checked or you will be roaming
And always remember to backup your Settings and APNs,and anything else you need to keep. There are free apps on the market to do that but the pro/key versions have more settings and help the developers and no adware. Hope this helps if not all be here tomorrow or i'm sure someone else will help too i do have some apns just tell us what network your on an we can help you set them up. Good luck

No APN info shows up at all. If I go to Sk telecom service center, can they give me the info to manually input it?
My network is for SK telecom in South Korea. Any other info you need about the network?

You can try an all see if i can find it. So give me a day and all post it
Sorry no luck that an Three other Country's i can't get for some reason. It's a bummer
Maybe someone else here can help.

[Q] Loaded phone to stock 2.3.5, now it's kind of broken

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 and I flashed a Stock 2.3.5 Rom to my phone because I screwed up flashing a previous Rom. The Rom I flashed appears to be defaulted to Poland, I managed to change the language, but for some reason I can't get any Cell reception, I am unable to send texts or make phone calls. I checked the CSC and it is: XEO - Poland (Plus, Era, Heyah, Orange, Play). I don't know much about phones but this appears to be an issue since I don't live anywhere near Poland.
I have a Telus Sim card but it appears as if my phone can't connect to their network. Additionally, before flashing this Rom I was pretty sure that my only option in Network Operators was Telus, but now I have Telus and CAN Rogers Mobile INC. When I attempt to select Telus from this list it says "Registering on TELUS..." for around 2-3 minutes then says "Unable to connect to network, try again"
I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
When I go to About Phone>Status it says..
Network: Unknown
Mobile Network Type: UMTS
Service State: Out of Service
Roaming: Not roaming(although this appears to switch on and off, despite me being well within Telus coverage.)
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
Android Version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: S5830XWKS2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL654989
[email protected] #1
Build number: Gingerbread.XWKS9
Do I have to install a Telus Canadian version of the stock firmware for 2.3.5 or could I possibly install stock firmware for 2.3.4 and update it through kies to get the appropriate CSC?(My phone is able to connect to Samsung kies)
I don't care if my phone has 2.3.4 or 2.3.5, either one would be fine with me.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated, ask me any and all questions.
MAJOR EDIT
I put *#7465625# into my phone to check the Network Lock and Sim Lock's and it turns out
Network Lock [ON]
Network Subset Lock [OFF]
SP Lock [ON]
CP Lock [ON]
Does this mean that I can't connect to to the network because there is a lock on it? If this is right I assume I need to go to Telus and have them unlock it, right?
Edit: I phoned *#2263# to get into a frequency selection screen and I selected: WCDMA Band Preference>WCDMA 850
Telus runs on 850/1900, I have the option to choose 1900, and the option to choose all(850/900/1800/1900/2100), there's also an option to choose "Automatic", should I stick with running 850, or risk running automatic and have it randomly jump around for unknown reasons? I know 850 will work in most areas I go, so it wouldn't be a serious drawback.
I think it's best to use the Telus firmware.....

I'm not entirely certain, but I don't think Telus has any official Firmware that the public has access to. If you have found any that would be appreciated, but as far as I'm aware, companies don't put that kind of thing out into the general public.
On Telusmobilitys site if you go to the section to update software I can see Samsung Galaxy Ace on the list but it says 2.3.4 and there are no available updates, which means I can't update it through that method.
Is the CSC being different an issue or just a small annoyance?

I'm a Singaporean but my Ace is set to XSR (or XER I forgot)

I don't think I clarified this in the op, there is only one option in the CSC list, which is XEO, Poland, I presume I need a Telus CSC, however, using the list found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787163
I can't find one that would work for a Telus phone.
Edit: My phones Network is now connected to "TELUS" and Service State is "In Service" but I still have to send messages 3-4 times before they finally say sent, sometimes taking up to 3 minutes to send a simple message.
If anyone knows any way to fix this I'd greatly appreciate it.

[Q] Help with Rogers Galaxy Note i717

I went through and read everything in the Super Thread - twice.
I went through and flashed the stock Rogers ICS 4.0.4 rom to the phone and then rooted it by flashing the cwm kernal in the instructions. My phone is successfully rooted and it is not reverting to the stock android recovery.
I went through and disabled all the Rogers bloatware and restarted the phone and now it isn't enabling itself automatically. Score one for patience and good advice.
I use Petro Canada Mobility pay as you go. They are a reseller of Rogers and the price is right until my ISP launches their wireless service.
I went through and set the phone so that is uses gsm/wcdma bands only - no LTE as it isn't available in my province as of yet. I set up Petro Canada's APN settings and save. I restart the phone and the phone automatically defaults back to Rogers APN settings. The APN that I created is gone - *poof* I can't count how many times in the last 24 hours I have reset this phone
What the heck am I missing here cause I can't figure it out. Why won't it save my APN settings? I got the rest of the kinks worked out and now this??
Do the Bell and Telus versions of this phone have the same quirks cause if they don't, I'll gladly flash their roms.
Help please!
I would leave the network to auto.
When you make an APN and save it, then select it, it disappears?
Can you edit the default Rogers APN?
Is your phone carrier unlocked?

When I make an APN and and save it, it is fine until I restart the phone. The minute I restart the APN disappears. I can edit the Rogers APN and save the changes. When I restart, it reverts to it's default settings. It is not carrier unlocked. Because my mobility carrier is a reseller of Rogers, my sim card works with it. There was no need to unlock it.
It seems like you need to unlock it, because you can't use any other carrier's APN, you're locked on Rogers.
Have you rooted it? Since that is the cheaper route, maybe being rooted will let you permanently create the correct APN.
Yes I have it rooted. Still the same issue.
Run a good nandroid backup ....
Then enter the new APN into the device ....
Then delete the old APN , then reboot ...
If the new APN sticks, then run a new backup and delete the old one ...
These devices can be temperamental on occasion ....g
Edit :
And yes ...you may be locked at this point, and stuck on Rogers ...g
I went through and unlocked the phone, stuck in a Bell Sim card and it recognized it right away. I went through completely reset the phone again, entered in my APN settings, and restarted. The settings disappeared. I am told that the Bell, Rogers, and Telus variants are all the same so I am going to flash one of their roms on the phone to see if I have better luck.
Well I flashed a different rom - Bell and that fixed the issue. It was the stock rogers rom that was causing me grief.
So my next question is this - anyone have any ideas on what Rom is better? The Telus or the Bell one?

EE network problem on rooted/unrooted S3

Hi,
I am on t-mobile network, my problem is that i don't seem to get EE network on my S3, it will change the between t-mobile n orange not ee. When I insert sim into iPhone then I will get EE network. I have tried unrooted n rooted but no EE.
Now when am on t-mobile network my Internet is really good but as soon it's moves to orange network then Internet is really really slow, I mean 34kbps.
I have contacted t-mobile n tried everything but no luck.
Is this something to do with S3?? Anything I can do? Any advice appreciated
ta
I'm on t mobile/Orange through t mobile, Orange signal is rubbish, never gets h or h+, but as I'm on t mob, it reverts to them by preference I think, only switching to Orange when it looses signal.
I used to be on Orange, and then I always had to go into settings and select network (choice of EE or EE!) So it's a bit hit and miss.
I also sometimes get it showing as t mob in notification draw, and sometimes EE, all very confusing.
EE sucks!!! Nothing wrong with your phone.... I've got Orange and 3UK. With the second one I'm more than happy. Download up to 26Mbps!
I never get EE on my S3....do you ever get EE?
Also is there an easier way to swap networks?

Are y you with orange or t mobile?
I'm with Orange and I've never had a problem in having H+ my carrier signal mostly shows EE.But isn't that all it is? a re branded carrier signal from orange and T-Mobile?
It's weird cos I get EE network when I put sim into iPhone
T mobile
Why is it that I don't get EE anywhere? Also I do get H+ but Internet is awful... Am thinking it's something to do with my S3 or firmware, radio etc

Are you on latest mb5? Are you locked and branded?
Also don't about it displaying ee or not, the other thing you could try is go to tmob website and get the apn settings sent to your phone, they may need updating
Sorry don't know about mb5? How do I find out? Plz
Unlocked n unbranded
I have done t-mobile website but apn setting does NOT come over to my phone for some strange reason... I have entered ee apn setting manually but still no EE network. I am not fussed what network it is on as long as I can get Internet!
Currently limited Internet on orange n full on t-mobile.
Download mb5 here. http://live.samsung-updates.com/details/7693/Galaxy_S_3_International/GT-I9300/BTU/I9300XXEMB5.html
Flash with Odin, this is the latest UK unbranded
Once you've flashed the MB5 modem & matching RIL, go to settings, more settings, mobile networks, network operators and make sure 'select automatically' is chosen.
Then go back to mobile networks, access point names and delete all the APNs listed. Then create a new APN but only complete these fields; name: Everywhere APN: Everywhere
Reboot the phone and you should have a better experience.
You can also find a CWM flashable MB5 modem & RIL in kamalmawa's thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076857
I already have that installed..xx mb5
Am also rooted on vanilla rootbox... Is that a problem?

Have you contacted to your operator it could be helpfull also
Yes.... As far as they concerned everything is fine.
Also bear in mind that the network is undergoing a lot of engineering at the moment due to the marrying of the two networks and the LTE network introduction, but for me Orange has always been rubbish so I just select t mob and live with the pain of selecting the network occasionally if it gets hung on Orange

Just flash the zip in recovery, the RIL is included and it will even backup your existing modem. No need to play with root or the ROM, as long as your current ROM is rooted.
Thanks, will try

data connection wont work.

hey on my galaxy s3 i9300 Australian version. im with optus and was wondering if any 1 new how to fix the no data connection issue. i looked it up and people say its to do with the apn. so i have reset apn to default and it helped but now its back to no data. i reinstalled the stock firmware for it and it went good again for a lil bit but now the data is back to not working. the problem seems to be appearing on a few forums but i havent found a fix. my wifi and calling and texting works fine.
Contact your network provider, if you have the latest stock rom and modem installed for your country then only the apn settings need to be checked. You might possibly need a new SIM, but it's more likely to be the apn settings are wrong.
.....Also note if you have been Rom swapping make sure you keep Australian modem version as they are optimized for your frequencies, you should find them in the modem thread

[Q] Galaxy Alpha G850A (AT&T - Lollipop5.0.2) issue

Hey guys, recently I've got an Alpha SM-G850A which is for AT&T. I live in Iran and the phone has been unlocked to work here, I was trying to get the Android Lollipop 5.0.2 for my phone. so first I tried to get the update from AT&T software update by phone, but it says that there seems to be no updates available for me, nevertheless on the net the guys claim that they've got the update, is it due to my location in Iran and my internet IP? (I used VPN too but again, no updates). I tried to get the firmware from Sammobile.com too, but there were no firmwares detected for SM-G850A. Can someone help please?:good::good:
BTW, I've got the cellular data from my operator, and it works, but I can't select which type I wanna use (2G, 3G or 4G). I mean there's no options in the phone settings to select the data connection type. NEED HELP!

Even tho the phone is working on other networks you will still need an at&t sim card to update it. There is no way around this as far as i know.
Type below code in dialer and select Device information. Now, if you scroll down you will have the option to change network type.
Code:
*#*#4636#*#*
