Yeah, unfortunately. I've gone back to primarily using my Transformer. I prefer the fit and finish of the Touchpad, but the apps just aren't there.

Can't say I am. Was literally just thinking last night about how much I use/dig this thing.

Been tired of webOs since the first day.Its so bloody slow to do anything, surfing the web has to be the worst experience I've had on a mobile device makes me wonder just how slow it is unclocked

I hate webOS. My sister just got a iPad from her school and I'd rather us that than webOS it sucks, no apps, nothing to do. I can't wait for android

The lament of children since the dawn of time.

I love webos but lacks apps
I'm kindof bored with android gingerbread but loads of apps.
the same with ios. new is always better for me.
ideally if android apps worked on webos aka palmdroid id b a happy boy!
I've tried out win 8 on my pc I think would b amazing but not holding my breath. I think ics will be the thing to wait for!

Yep
Planned on using it as a business tool but nothing that I currently use interfaces easily with it. Nice for watching vids, a bit of surfing although it seems to have issues rendering quickly a lot of sites and for looking cool but it just ain't cutting it. I don't even carry it with me any more.

Not yet
So far I'm still enjoying it, I'm glad I didn't get a 7" tablet.
I still enjoy my PC more. Yesterday I installed Win8 on my laptop, for a pre beta it runs well. Hope we can install in the future on the TouchPad.

There's always a solution...develop some apps. This is XDA after all, not noobcentral.com

Not me, just got ubuntu on my tp and oced it to 1.728 with all performance patches installed. Mobile Flash games run FLAWLESSY on the browser. m.kongregate.com

What did everyone expect when buying it? With everyone getting "tired" of things so fast, its no wonder companies play with us the way they do. They know with the new "oooh its shiny!" Loads of cash will be but down no matter what unfished state its in at launch. I like my TP for what I use it for, tweaked it and its perfectly adequate. Then again I didn't get it expecting it to be an ipad or Galaxy tab. WebOS has potential still and the fact that they embraced their homebrew community from the git go is testament in my eyes. Patience (yeah, these days that's a laugh)
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium

yep, honestly the ones that are tired of it are the ones with no interest to delve deeper into how to get things working or the patience. there's plenty to do on the touchpad, you just can't have it all spoon fed to you like an ipad.

i'm tired of waiting to get one through hp smb.

No. The ones who are tired of webos have surveyed the landscape and realize that there is nothing much to delve deeper into. When an os doesn't have a fully functional browser or ereader, no amount of delving is going to change this. Also, some of us who are tired of it bought it to run android, and don't feel like wasting time trying to fix such a broken os. When you have to edit code to get network shares mounted and even then have to pay 8 dollars for an app that will play videos, its not worth my time when my android phone and ipad does it flawlessly and free.

Not at all. I'm loving my device. That firesale couldn't have come at a better time, my birthday was coming up and my girl friend was gonna get me a kindle. This is much better, at a lower price point, how can I complain?

I'm back to my nook color on cm.7 till android. The apps really suck and the OS is horrible.

Whoa Mozilla labs has plans to build their own OS based on android. Its just a concept right now but its crazy to see how far technology could go. The original article was on gizmodo but I thought id share since were all bored and arguing around here anyways. I looked for this before I posted it and couldn't find anything similar in the 3D section.

Ahhh yeah does sound like a custom UI sort of like sense but the article said they arent adopting java; could be interesting. I know im late i barely found that video lol.
If that thing was ever built, it'd be the most expensive smartphone that has ever existed, haha.
Can't imagine the battery life on that thing.
I saw that about a year ago and I don't think we are much closer to it being realistic. It looks amazing but I think we are years away from anything close to that.

Although they don't have the same sensor technology for typing and stuff, you have been able to order phones with built in PICO projectors from overseas forever. I own a Pico projector seperately and it is awesome. Not much bigger than the 3VO. Well, like 3 times thicker, but can fit in your pocket.
Again, they've been making them for years overseas, so why the have to pretend being able to project your phones screen on to the wall is some future concept is silly. I know it has a lot more features than that, so it is a concept phone. But I just think it's interesting that projector part has such a wow factor when they are made everyday.
This is from CES 2009. A Samsung phone for Korea:

The Touchpad knows when you've made a mistake. And it even knows what you are going to do before you do it.
4 | Webcam Support
The Browser recognizes your webcam, just like any laptop. No Skype or Facetime required. Now you can Chatroulette.
Basically anything you've ever wanted to do with WEBOS, put your ideas here. I have a ton of em'.
I'm puzzled about the purpose of this post. Is it a wishlist? Is there a WebOS 4 being planned?

And you have proof of this?
being a dedicated user has nothing to do with HP canning the whole webOS platform. I think we are in this on our own.
Guys, HP are not discontinuing WebOS software, only the hardware. for example:
http://www.mobiledia.com/news/109675.html . And just a little google of HP Touchpad, switch to google news and filter the last few days and you'll be able to read plenty if you want to update your facts. Of course we havent heared a comprehensive strategy being put in place, only that they are looking into licensing models for WebOS and are to continue to develop and optimise the os.
Of course this is just a wishlist, and I have a few myself, though most can be solved with better apps in the market so i'm not going to go into them.
I would like to see better use of of cards, enabling them as wigets as well as just a minimised view of the app would be a good start. With views showing updated information from facebook/news apps etc when in card view. But I'm torn between the bliss simplicity of card view and the functionallity but sometimes overwhelming mess we get from my wigetised home screens in android.
WebOS is not dead yet, after keeping my ear to the ground, HP plans to release 3.0.4 soon (no eta) which the most notable feature is HDMI from micro usb over MHL adapter...its apparently still in testing phase but it supposed to drop before the end of the year.
ill look for the source, but either way, its not completely dead, the app catalog is still updated weekly as well
but it is dying HP is recognizing the hardware and marketing for palm devices as a complete failure, and will resume focus on the PC market, all but abandoning the mobile niche market.
There's no reason to give up a great platform. I don't know why people are so depressed.
Leo Apetheker might have been as crazy but I've been a fan of the Touchpad since Day 1.
No matter what they do to it, I don't see it ending anytime soon.
in reality HP have said they will continue support so that it looks like a viable proposition to purchase.
I believe 3.04 has already been seen in the wild, 3.03 certainly has. I think that we will all be glad of the android port sooner than we would like.
please prove me wrong HP
I'm sure they've got some wild monkeys running their company, they talk of cancelling, discontinuing...and yet, they want to sell it?
They're trying to sell something that they've lowered the value of.

If you have a problem with wifi on your iPad rub the back with a bounce dryer sheet, that should solve the static IP problem, lol.
On a somewhat related note, I spent 30 minutes in best buy trying to do a price match for a TV I bought the previous week. I couldn't get the girl to understand what was going on so she got a manager after 5 minutes. After the manager comes over I can't get him to comprehend what's going on either. Their system price is the same as the instore prices but he keeps saying it is "online" showing "online prices" yet the price is cheaper through my laptop and phone. Finally he says "when in doubt use a Mac," right then I knew why he had no common sense. After he gets his Mac it still took forever because I had to show him how to navigate the web (he was having trouble clicking links to get to the product page and cart, and also he couldn't figure out how to get to the previous page so I showed him that fancy back button) the product said see cart for price and he keep hitting add to cart with the same result, a pop up box that had a highlighted "go to cart" link right under the "add to cart" button he keep hitting.

I agree completely. Android is not for everyone and neither is iOS. Personally I don't like Apple because you re really locked into what Steve liked rather than what you like as far as look and feel. I'm not going to put anyone down for their choice and don't expect anyone to put me down for what I like. It's all about choice, and those differences in everything make life interesting.

Amazing! Any news on when it will be out?
will it be open source? for ports to HP touchpad cuz I doubt they'd do it if they care about 'consumer experience'
the UI does look amazing...its exactly what I wanted from a tablet
Its running on ICS, wouldn't it be possible to do distribute this as a custom launcher with its own widgets.
Either way its nice to see other companies taking advantage of the Android source and adding their own enhancements to it. Some call it fragmentation, but its no different than Linux distros. In the end the user gets the power to customize even more.
Why is Bud Bundy on their website?
On a serious note, Teknision has some real pretty eye-candy on their site.
But aside from contributing to the PlayBook interface, it looks like all they have done so far is prototypes.
The demo looks good but they are pandering to the OEMs, not the consumers.
If anything, I think you might see this on a very expensive, yet to be produced device.
Maybe next year.
Can't a Dev come up with something like that for us in the free world (donations given obviously), because stock Android on tablets in general has yet to impress me.

The world revolves around money... i cannot express how lucky we are to have the community we do, and the software that has come from it. Sadly, i see that community shrinking over time, not growing

In order to develop something like that, a developer would need to have the resources that teknison has, the man power that teknison has, the money that teknison has, and the test devices that teknison has.
none that neither I nor any other developer ever WILL have. so no, we cant come up with something like that. you cant just throw something like that together. its taken probably the better part of a year with a group of people to develop something like that.
So, time goes, but what are the news from Teknision about Project Chameleon?
I think I would get tired of this pretty quick. Transition animation is pretty cool but there is a point where I want things to open quicker and this just looks like a lot of graphics without adding anything all that great.
A lot of it depends on how whether it can be tailored to each persons wants. So many times I see something that looks cool on youtube but then you try it your self and it doesn't do what you want it to do.
Can this run flawlessly on CN ICS or classicnerd ICS?
Anybody give some feedback?

Well birdman got cwm working sooo....

I think it is definitely too soon to say for sure the AOSP will not support the Q. Only a hand full have been released. There is also the fact that JBQ probably knows as many tech specs about the device as we do. The first step would probably to get in contact with someone on the team who built it. Keep in mind that for a long time the XOOM wasn't supported in AOSP but it is now. Let's wait a bit and see what happens.

AOSP is possible. All the Q needs is some Jellybean, which it's being updated to. It's on Android 4.0.4, but will gain Youtube, Gmail, and other GAPP's soon. The CM Dev for my phone hacked his Q, and had it running like a desktop. Chrome, and a Wireless KB/Mouse via USSB dongle. The Q is a very capable device, but what? I not really sure? As far as I see, it can be a nice PC replacement. But just basic computing. Nothing more. Internet, Facebook, Gmail, Netflix, etc.

If that is true then I can definitely see this being hooked up to TVs in living rooms for use, and then I might consider in the future getting one in the foreseeable future.
While the Q looks very sleek and sexy, $299 is a hefty price for such a basic computing device. Remember: the Raspberry Pi costs only $35 (plus SD card, Plus PSU, plus case) and it can do full 1080p playback as well.

I myself pre-ordered one (should ship in august). This will definatelly be a nice toy and I think it could be made to do all things the Nexus Q does. I paid 45,23€ for the device including a case as I have an 8GB SD Card and a Blackberry charger lying around anyways. Admittedly, compared to the Nexus Q it's not even nearly as nice looking, but it's a lot cheaper and has the possibility of doing everything the Q does, plus more.

i believe they got a launcher working on the Q and a couple of apps too like netflix so its to early. CWM is out already for it so..........
I've seen launchers and apps have been side loaded onto it and that definitely increases its appeal to me. I think one major issue is actually controlling the device but that's just a matter of a remote control app.
Also, I haven't seen anything about CWM. Care to share a link on that?

I think it is definitely too soon to say for sure the AOSP will not support the Q. Only a hand full have been released. There is also the fact that JBQ probably knows as many tech specs about the device as we do. The first step would probably to get in contact with someone on the team who built it. Keep in mind that for a long time the XOOM wasn't supported in AOSP but it is now. Let's wait a bit and see what happens.

JBQ is the technical lead for AOSP. If it was going to be supported by AOSP, he would know.
