We have Eclipse... which is one man deving 3 phones and doing the work of a team (in CM). Personally, I like what I have. BUT.. Ive never ran CM on any phone.
To be honest... CM7 has been a pain for everyone. Me especially. I'm pretty much on my own when it comes to dev'ing for this thing and it takes a team to get around it (usually). I'm slowly working out the kinks, but i'm at the point where if something goes wrong, it's impossible to tell where.

I'm actually doing that My aunt just got me one for a late birthday gift lol. Just using it until the Prime and Vigor come out..
@ashclepdia, probably shouldn't open my big mouth, but if my dad doesn't want it (trying to sell it to him for money for the prime ) then I'd be willing to sell it for a dev..or maybe just donate it. I could really use the money though..
EDIT: 2 seconds after typing this, I saw the Galaxy S 2 commercial...almost messed up my new boxers
I can see ppl being frustrated, but THINGS will get better for us. We have like 3 developers. Eclipse is a very good and stable rom, and Nitro is porting the Atrix for us. Soon, the CM7 could be on our phones. Ive never had an android phone prior to getting the x2, so I have no clue what the benefit of CM7 is other than the popular vote.
Going off of looks, MuffStuff has great themes for our phone and a couple other themers are doing good as well. We dont have a huge dev pool or user pool compared to the other phones. Most original X users are either still on the X or about to upgrade to another phone. Most of us don't have the income to grab every phone that pops out. Im no dev, but I know a good deal about the process on how it works. This phone seems like it has no dev work or progress, but the fact is, we have 3 active developers(sorry if there are others that Im not aware of) that have jobs, lives, and other stuff they need to take care of.
Im patiently awaiting for the hard work Nitro has put into our phone for getting the atrix to port to our phone. We have the most CURRENT firmware available thanks to him porting the Atrix. He has made us a complete AOSP rom(eclipse) and TheMuffStuff has made SUPERB themes for it. Don't be frustrated or depressed because we dont have CM7 or anything else for that matter.
If I'm not mistaken, with us having the Atrix port, Nitro can eventually get 90+ % of the Atrix to us on our phones. Once that is achieved, getting CM7 should be NO hassle watsoever d/t it being available on the Atrix.
Please everyone quit flaming and quit the bickering about not having this or that and be thankful for what you do have. (sorry for not knowing your SN)the guy that made the roadrunner scripts got flamed, spit up, and chewed out and I think he made a bunch of VERY good scripts for bootup. I was getting ~14 hours of battery life with GPS on, and I was actively texting, calling, and facebooking throughout the battery life when i was only getting ~6 hours of life before that. So, with how things are NOW. I am happy. Do I want more? Yes! things will get better for us and quit complaining. CM7 may be the popular vote, but who knows what some1 could do for us? Nitro and the others could team up and make something even better!!!
lol sorry for not knowing everyone's SN, but Nitro and Muff are the ones sticking out atm. Dev's keep up the good work and be creative with our phone. Dont listen to the nonsense of those unappreciative. Bionic and others may have CM7, but we have you guys. Keep it up.
2 things.. 1st, hey now, my themes dont suck...lol
2nd, naven is porting Atrix, not Nitro
PLease keep in mind I have a high sense of humor and take things with a grain of salt. I know you didnt say my themes sucked.
I didn't mean to start a ruckus. Eclipse is an amazing ROM, and naven is killing it! Thanks to his work. We basically have not only our devs, but we get all the Atrix devs as well.

Jt1134 had to do the same thing to bring cm7 to the fascinate. It was a one -man show until most everything was working & then the cyanogenmod merged it in. It took quite a while though & is still a work in progress.

Sorry for the references.. xkape i stated that we had several themers and developers that were doing a good job, muff just sticks out because i use his lol but i thought bout doing urs, but u dont have it on the Atrix Port.
Appologies again for given credit to nitro on the port. Your Right about naven. But the point was that we have several developers working hard and that we shouldnt overlook their work. Our goals with the x2 shouldnt be just "get cm7" ... it should be to better that.
I, honestly, don't get all the hype over CM. I've checked their website and, yeah, it's got some nifty features, but I didn't see anything that I was dying to have. I'm sure it's great (or else it wouldn't have the cult-like following), but I'm totally happy with Eclipse. I guess some people just always want more...

I was wondering the same thing.. part of what makes a device fun (for me) is the ability to satisfy my urge to tweak it, flash it, and all that crap.. I miss flashing new stuff every couple days..
Although, to be fair, this device is pretty damn slick out of the box..
still.. I'd love to have something to flash .. I'm not gonna root till CM7 is available and stable.. heh. (reminds me of zanderman and the Epic)

Unfortunately some of the best developers on this forum have turned into the evil apple fanboy twins in denial and refuse to leave HTC products. Despite the obvious superiority of the Photon over the Evo 3D, they refuse to pick one up simply because it is Motorola. Their argument is "It's Motorola and they don't unlock bootloaders", but they haven't even looked to see that it is unlocked. Be it what it may, we have kennethpenn and seanzscreams and I love them both dearly for putting all the effort they have into two great ROM's. This phone has been everything I want and more even on stock software, so I'm not upset of the Evo forum /bb/tards don't find their way into this section and it remains quiet here. Granted I'd love to see the power of this phone be unlocked, I doubt it'll happen with HTC and Samsung holding so many developers by the balls with the bells and whistles of nonfunctioning products.

The thing about seanscreams and Kenneth penn is there developing for our photons and they don't even own one. I think us photon users should throw them a small donation or something.

It will. Our phone is so similar to the Atrix that they will be able to help as well. I am not getting into the hype of the SGS2. Will be a great phone but the Photon is much more of a power house. We have only just got source. Once AOSP gets ported things will be lovely.

I wish there was an online school, maybe run by the devs, to give guidance on how to create roms and kernels. I know there are forums with directions, but allot of it I just don't understand. Unless a dev takes you under his wing and explains it to you, it is very difficult to learn. Maybe some type of online chat and examples, and there would be a membership fee to attend. This way the devs would be compensated for their time. If there were say hundreds people enrolled, the cost would be minimal. Just thinking out loud. Wish I new more so I could help the community. I have already learned more about it than I ever thought I would, do to lack of development with some of the phones I have chosen. Either way, I'm keeping this Mopho!

Thanks Shabby, the one thing I miss from my Epic is the SFR Rom, still have the ACS updater app (though nothing to download lol). And Bricky, I am totally with you. I don't consider myself stupid (heck I run a QA group), and have been working with MS products for longer than I care to admit, and I even bought the
"Android for beginners", which is ok, but there is alot to consume, it would be great to have a mentor. I'd love to help out, hell I'd be happy to test ROM's, the more knowledge the better.

Now that the bootloader has been bypassed, can we please get official CM9 and AOKP with stable releases and everything working? My friend has an SGS2 and its already running CM9. And I know for a fact that the RAZR is WAYYYY better than the SGS2. So let the ROM MANIA BEGIN! =D
I wish I can run CM9 but I am afraid that the bypass is still in so beta stage that it will take more time until we see cm and others...
Bypass is not working. It's very close though.
Only one CPU core works for now. An overclocked DX will beat your phone, and maybe that's OK.
Bypass is working right? I dont see why we cant have CM9 with only 1 core working, its fine! =D

Exactly my point. Lets start working on custom ROMs with what we have right now. Kholk and mbm seemed to have worked pretty hard on this and it'll be a shame if we can't take advantage of it and start work on custom ROMs. Moto's gonna delay the stock ICS for us anyways.

Droid X. Not MAXX, lol.
I can overclock my old DX to 1425MHz v the Razr Maxx 1200MHz (stock).
Dual core isn't likely to work anytime soon; I cloned the source code and looked for an easy solution, but the kexec owners exhausted the options from what I can see.
A single-core 1200MHz ARM processor will still make a powerful device however. I'm with you: I'd like to play with a CM9 build. And MIUI. Even a single-core CM9 might beat a dual-core stock build.
/My two cents worth.

You're clouding the discussion with facts and reasonable argument. Is that fair?
Personally, I don't complain here or elsewhere unless there's a good reason, like when someone calls a writeable/moddable "image" a "ROM" (which means Read-Only-Memory). Call it a package, or image - call it something new - but drop the term "ROM" in the toilet where it belongs.
Maybe that's grammar Nazi nonsense, but this is science. Science requires consistent and accurate communication, else it's just a chaotic mud-scramble by bald smelly apes with beer.
Mmm beer.

You are really a sarcastic person, aren't you? I was just stating the obvious. U don't have to criticize me for it.
I got this idea while lurking on the rezound general forum, and a lot of people have really pissed off the amazing devs that offered their help to bring out the most out of the phone. Yeah, it might be a little late to be making this, but with the Eris being my first phone, the community here has pretty well taken care of each other and the developers stuck with us, at least, until they got a newer phone and moved on. My experience in the rezound forum has been a little less than savory, especially in the last few weeks. Thanks as well. This forum introduced me to the whole rooting experience and allowed me to keep using this phone long past what I would have put up with if I had to remain stock.
A a developer I know the troubles with any project and appreciate all the efforts.
Unfortunately I dropped the phone the last week and screen died, so I had to do a quick upgrade. Though about he Rezound but ended up with the LG Spectrum. Nice screen, rooted, but not much in the way of ROM's. Have to wait until ICS comes out.
Again thanks folks.

It was a little more then a tear ago I stumbled upon this place and took took the plunge to root my Droid Eris, knowing that I was running 2.1 and would never see anything higher then that cuz the Eris was already at end of life. Then boom rooted unlocked and running gin-tazz. I've been hooked ever sense. Now mongoose is still putting work into this device running 4.0 haha amazing. Thank you all very much

I'd like to see bftb0's name listed up top.
There's so many things he's done for the Eris community, both here and over at AndroidForums, it would be a crime to not have his member name listed for posterity along with all of the other fine folks you listed above.
He is, without question, one of the most knowledgeable folks to have ever posted here at XDA and many, many folks are indebted to him for his help (me included ).
Cheers!

Done, and I added you too. I forgot about your modified recovery that didn't rely on the trackball to be used. I thank you, good sir! That recovery came in handy when my trackball started getting really bad.

Some forums go overboard with pinned threads, or at least it's overwhelming how many there are. There aren't that many in this section. What does everyone else feel about if this should be pinned or not? I do.

The eris was my second android phone after I left T-Mobile and my G1. This community has been incredible. I would also like to thank DS36. He was always willing to help out noobs like myself and his tweak thread was pretty awesome. This really has been the best community I've seen here. I miss the good ole days of kaos froyo and gingertazz. Thanks to all the devs that made the eris awesome. And thanks to jcase for making it easy to root my kindle too.

I miss this forum, it was peaceful n has awesome devs, i have the rezound n holy crap it gets crazy over there ha I dont even post, just read haha. But I wanna say Thanks to all the devs, ive had some awesome themes on my eris
I miss this forum a lot. We still haven't got s-off figured out for the HTC One S. It's pretty sparse over there.
But man, back in the day this place was humming all day every day. Workshed made it a beautiful phone. Even compared to the phone I have now, it seems like it flew. I know that's just the nostalgia talking, but I don't care. GSB is a great rom.

I wanted to stop in and get your opinions on the device and if you guys would like to see me here or not... The rezound forum is to immature for me... I want to get a device that all devs will work together to better and not be childish about... Some of you know me some don't some might like and some might not, just give me your thoughts

I think anyone with dev skills should get the phone,
BUT
I don't want this turning into the Rezound forums.
there is NO need for 4 ppl to put out THE SAME EXACT ROM with different "dev tweaks" a.k.a spent 5 mins to change it up to get a ROM posted because ppl like my work.
my goal for this forum is to inform the people.
inform the people who do the REAL work.
the REAL dev work and putting in the hours of time.
we also don't need 2 ROMs that are the exact same thing.
like I told newt and anyone else who wants the phone the more the merrier, but I am going to do EVERYTHING in my power to stop this community to turning into the Rezound, and I think I have enough ppl to support that.
I left apple because Android is open and shares.
I hope that this commmunity continues to ROCK!
I don't want any beef between Devs, trying to out do each other making the SAME ROM, give or take a mod or two different, let's worl together and produce something that is killer.
I left the Rezound a long time ago for a very good reason, way before the inc4 was on horizon, i even bought an inc2 back to 3g i hated that community so bad.
so far it seems this is like the inc2 on steriods!
let's hope it stays that way!
:good::good:
Of course we want you here.

I am with you on this. Right now I am wanting to create a stock rom that is odexed still but yet has the color scheme of ICS. And of course as S-Off becomes available I will be willing to add more to it as well. I just think that as long as we work together instead of competing with each other we can have some solid ROMS that people will want to use as the daily driver instead of flashing every three days.

I see this as a great phone with lots of potential. I too am looking for a semi-stock (i.e. sense-based) daily driver that will suit my needs/wants. So far, what I've seen is that this (currently small) community has been extremely cooperative and respectful.
Well for those of you that know me I don't really do stock roms... I'll build one with all the goodies, but where I come in is when a new device is leaked with a version of sense or ics that we will never see I make sure we do... Porting roms is my thing its what I'm good at and what I enjoy... Everyone wants the next big thing. I myself don't mind sharing at all where I have a problem is when someone uses my work or my whole Rom without permission or credit or if I share with them and the favor is not returned that's the problem I have in the rezound forum and a couple other forums in the past

Howdy Newt! Loved your work in the past on other devices...would be an honor having you here man. Crossing my fingers hoping you pick up this phone
This community is awesome, you won't regret it. I don't even like to think about the rezound community any more...gives me chills...

I do remember some of your great work. Some of them found a home on my OG Dinc for a while. As such, I feel I should clarify my "semi-stock" statement. Your "Optimized Shift" and "Incredible Sensation" ROMs could be included in my in my "semi-stock" comment - You take the best/newest from various sources (leaks, other "newer" phones) and make them work seamlessly within the target device. If I'm using the wrong terminology, please feel free to correct me as I certainly did not mean to offend. I too would be very happy if you were to pick up one of these phones!
