No i did ask permission from any devloper if u feel this not notgood i do so sorry for that my work
Bill this thread will be close any moment AF see this as you need to ask developer permission. You should ask permission first THATS THE RULES. Your rom is lovely btw.
Sent with love!
Really i didnot now that before post this roms we need developer premmisson now what i can i do
just like master firdausmboin rom. cakepan punya master .... ai cinta remikan indonesia
The only thing to do is ask permission to dx if you used gdx and xperianfan if for gx. They are nice so just ask them. In that case this thread will be legal and ya your rom shouldnt have paid apps in it.
Firdaus rom was closed coz of paid apps installed in it, even firdaus admitted it and even put a note. Thats also the rule. No paid apps.

Decent Rom,, But Man first of all you didn't thank the dev's,, you didnt ask for their permission,,, you didnt give credit to the creators,,, so do that asap or your this thread might be closed pretty soon
Nononono
what he realy need to editing the first page to tell everybody what he's using, from whom he using the feature, who goes the credit.
Nowadays is really hard to make a new rom without using anothers project so its more wiser to for whoever create this rom to add the developers who create those feature
in fact, im not downloading this
I'll gonna try this one.
Dude, I love the look of this ROM but you really need to ask permission from the devs man. And that you are based on who's ROM.

Nice rom but bug for me. No GSM and can not read sim card. How to fix bug!
I've sent a Pm to OP for asking permissions to original developers and give proper credits.
Since i have had some problems with people unhappy with my closing rom threads, i've decided to give him a couple of days max to fix this issue, otherwise i will close it.
Good!, so far looks very nice (for me), I never tought I would enjoy a WP7 look on my phone, Issues? well:
Gmail didn't work right out-of-the box, had to reinstall it
Music widget didn't work either (guess what? no music player included!)
Google Googles does not work
No file manager included (not a big deal, I prefer astro, while others include a different one)
Pros:
stable so far, except google googles, no fc's (yet)
just installed on top of my kuya and my data is still here, great!
A VERY different look and feel which, for me, is refreshing, heaven nows how long til I get bored hahaha
I love the Xperia logo at boot (cant's say the same to the sound, which I find kind of annoying though)

This is my first Custom Rom guys, so all feedback is appreciated, even if you think it sucks. which you might....
PRESENTING:
BLACKHOLE CUSTOM ROM
*Disclaimer*
I am not responsible for any damage you do to your phone, any issues you have with this ROM, or anything in general. This is provided as is and I will do my best to support this, but make no promises. This rom SHOULD WORK on any kernel or flashed over any other custom rom, or even stock, but has not been tested on all. If you flash this without wiping data all of your downloaded apps will still be on the phone, this will only remove the stock apps. If you flash any themes without these enhancements through clockworkmod recovery you will most likely remove the 15 second backlight and power button options, however metamorph themes may or may not remove these enhancements.
*End of disclaimer*
This is a project of mine because even the cleanest custom rom was never clean enough for me. I want my device to be fully customized and this was the best way I saw to do it, so I wanted to share.
This rom has almost nothing built into it. the easiest way to tell you what I removed is actually to tell you what is left...
Remaining apps:
Camera
Gmail
Market
Phone
Settings
Superuser
Task Manager
Voice Search
Swype
LauncherPro
Features:
15 Second softkey backlight
Reboot, Recovery, and Download options in the power button menu
Ultralite rom built for ultimate customization
Thats it. Once you install this as a barebones custom rom, I make it easy to install the apps that you want. I do this so that people like me can have only what they want. All you have to do is create a folder called "apps" (case sensitive) on your sdcard and copy all the .apk files you want installed as System apps into it. Then just unzip the attached folder anywhere, and run the <InstallApps.bat> file inside it.
Due to Facebook, Myspace and Twitter Sync requiring too much extra programs to run properly I will not be supporting it for the current versions of Blackhole. Once our great Devs figure out how to get AOSP running on this phone then you will be able to sync them all with their own downloaded apps, until then, it will not be a feature of this ROM. Sorry if this puts anyone off, but the point of this rom is space, speed, and battery life. SNS is just too bulky to be included.
You can get the app files from other custom roms, by unzipping them and looking in the /system/app directory or just around on the board.
Please let me know if you have any questions, or chat me up in IRC channel #samsung-fascinate on freenode.
If you need any app suggestions to replace the ones missing from this ROM please post and I will reply as soon as I can.
Changelog:
v0.3 - Standard download is Stock Theme, and the Blackmod Enhanced theme is a seperate clockwork zip. I also removed a few extra background apps.
v0.4 - Removed A LOT of background apps, including all DRM apps, and the Media Sync(MTP) mode (because, lets face it, no one who uses a custom rom is going to sync DRM tracks from windows media player)
Do not turn on Google Location Services, it will force close. This doesn't affect your GPS accuracy or lock time.
Removed accessibility aps (Kickback, Talkback, Soundback) they are all available in the market.
v0.4.1 - Added default MMS app back to fix issues with MMS not being delivered.
v0.5 - Removed several more background apps.
v0.6 - Removed even more background apps. My phone is still running fine but please let me know if you have issues. I have added the TouchWizCalendarProvider.apk into my Extra Apps link because it is required to reinstall the calendar properly.
This is still very much a Beta Rom, you may have force close issues, and if you try to access something that has been removed, you WILL get a force close. If there is something removed that you wish was still there i'm sorry, i'm working really hard to get this ready as a base for my Rom Manager Build-Your-Own-Rom idea, and that means removing everything possible. I will be glad to provide app names if something you want isn't working. please reply to this thread with any issues you have and I will try my best to work them out.

I take no credit for these, I simply put them all together in an easy to access space, for people not quite savvy enough to pull them from a system dump themselves. The AOSP apps and Stock Deodexed Apps can be installed using the installer method above, the custom apps need to be installed through Clockwork Mod Recovery just like the ROM. If i'm missing something you want added let me know and I will add it to the extra apps link if I can find it.
Thanks:

Deodexed for the custom boot and shutdown animations
Nintendo and Square-Enix for the boot and shutdown audio
tigers4life and utermensh for their work on the extra power button options
wasupwithuman for the extended softkey backlight mod
stanrc for the BlackmodF metamorph theme
Frost for his help with integrating the mods into the theme

PhoenixPath for frequent testing, troubleshooting, and feedback.
and everyone else who helped me along the way

Does it still have the built in messaging app?
Nice job! However, may I suggest a different name for this ROM? When I see Barebones 0.2 I thought it would be an update to the existing ROM that birdman made, this is pretty different.
it does not. the rom is not meant to be used as is, but to be customized by each person who downloads it. you can download chomp sms or handcent sms from the market, or get the stock messaging app from frostman's deodexed rom or the aosp messaging app from JT's Super Clean .04 rom and install it using the instructions in the first post.

oh yeah, that's what he named his TEST20 kernel isn't it. hmm. any suggestions anyone?
I suggest something like "skeleton" or "minimalist" or just "simple ROM". I like the sound of "Simple Rom" myself.
Clarification
I really like the idea you have. The only suggestion I would make is, for those not savvy enough to dig up system dumps, etc to find the needed .apks, maybe adding a folder called "Apks" to the rom (in which you would find all the stock removed apks), so you just copy/paste into the "sdcard" folder you create. Again, kudos to your idea of a 'build-your-own-rom' rom you have here.

Thank you, I appreciate that. And we are actually somewhat on the same page. this is the first dev work i've ever done and i'm learning as I go. my goal is to have this rom in Rom Manager, with custom download options like some roms have on other phones. for example you pick the Blackhole Rom, then select your version, and then it asks you which launcher you want, then which messaging app, then which contacts app, etc. that way you can choose from a list when you download it, or choose "no thanks" and get a different one yourself.
Not a fan of the theme but thanks!
I will release a stock theme update tomorrow.

All of that will be available soon after I get listed on Rom manager. it's much easier that way than trying to post apk files on this topic. If you can't wait that long JT has the stock mms app already in rom manager and the mesmerize contacts app is in a topic on the forums here. it's the same as stock except a few new features.
Sorry, probably a dumb question, but am I correct in assuming that because there's no mention of TouchWiz, you've replaced it with LP?

yes that's correct. A little while after it's up on Rom manager I'll set it up to let you choose between LauncherPro, ADW, and Touchwiz. For starters.
I read over on other GalaxyS phones about DRM services that run in the background that take a decent toll on battery life.. Have you looked into getting them removed to further clean the system up and improve on this cleanliness?

Hi everyone,
I must point out that I am pretty new to the whole custom ROM thing, I still have the stock ROM and everything on my xperia x10,
so my question is which ROM gives the best performance (ie less lag, good battery life, not many bugs, etc)? and can you give me simple instructions on how to install it because I don't want to screw something up and brick my phone, please?
Also when having a custom ROM installed, are you able to implement (install) patches given out by sony ericsson or you just follow the forum and wait for the developer of the ROM to make a patch, and if there's a patch from the developer how do you install it? (I presume you can't install the patches from sony ericsson, I'm just asking). And how often does the developer release the patches?
And do I have to delete everything with a factory reset from my phone before I do ANYTHING? at which step should it be done? can I backup everything using backup and restore program that's already aboard the x10 and restore it later, or the program will disappear when I install a custom ROM? if it wont, will it bring back my sms and mms effectively, and applications too?

+1 for wolfbreak's
Hi there, as you can see from my post count, I'm pretty new to this as well. I've only tried wolfbreak so far but am amazed at it's stability. As far as I've seen you will lose SMS etc however lots of things can be saved to the cloud, so first thing I'd do is make sure all contacts are marked as Google sync
I initially found the flashing to be problematic, but that was mostly because I was an idiot and failed to notice that the flashing software also adds functions such root access and xrecovery when the phone is NOT in flash mode. Since. Then I've been able to upgrade to the latest version (06) without even using a computer. Simply downloading the file onto my phone, moving it with the included file manager and rebooting to the recovery menu
I know have a faster more responsive phone with lots of added features such as Flash, Voice Search and loads more customization options. IMHO well worth the twenty minutes or so it will initially take
Make a note of your favourite apps as well, as the market only remembers paid for apps not your free ones, but for me the change over was pretty seamless and after only a day and a half with it am more than happy. So much stuff is held within the cloud that setting back up isn't the mega ballache it seems before doing it
Wolfbreak's ROM is the most 'fun' to use, the most tweaks avaliable
TripnMIUI's ROM is one you need if you just want your phone to work. Also, it has an iphone-like look (IMO I hate it, but some people like it)
Jereplea's Gingerbread mod is for those who want to be active in making the ROM better and test Gingerbread and custom kernels. It's not really that stable, but it's getting better by the day and it's the most updated ROM.
IMO those are the 3 big ROMS, there are smaller ones and you're free to check them out, they're pretty good too, but those are just my opinions on the top 3 ROMS.

another +1 for tripnmiui's rom, pretty well featured
for me TripNMiui is always the best
TripNMiui with custum kernel
I'd say Wolfbreak's so far...
It runs flawlessly...
I've been testing many custom ROMs for a while, and up to now, the ones I liked the most are TripNMiUI's and Wolfbreak's ones. It's hard even to pick up one of them... TripNMiUI's has a great visual and is very clean. Wolfbreak's, in the other hand, works flawlessly and very stable, and I love that ARC's style.
Actually, I'm using Wolfbreak's now.

Or use the app Titanium Backup to restore all apps and data when switching. Works like a charm for me.
as I am new to the scene I cannot write in the dev area, where CM7.1 is beeing discussed on SE Xperia mini/pro Sk17i.
I tested it yesterday and found it awesome!
Really great, but as already mentioned in the dev thread there are still too many issues that make working with it not really nice.
The not working keyboard is the most disturbing thing for me, as using the onscreen keys is way too small to write longer text.
If at least that was fixed I would flash it back on the device. Probably I can check some issues, as I am on gentoo linux for years and have a look on what dmesg tells.. pretty long error list so far
Okay guys, keep on working! I am really looking forward to using this cutting edge firmware! Great!
I'm also waiting for keypad to work then it'll be great
Sent from my SK17i using XDA App
I find the stock firmware pretty great, personally. The only thing that lets it down for me is the app drawer and the inability to delete/hide the pre-installed apps, so I'm using LauncherPro now.
It's a shame I can't just use the LauncherPro app drawer and keep the default UI
as I always use to tweak all my systems, pc, netbook etc. nobody can understand that I really love the design, the arc launcher of my sk17i. But I do. You are right, that the app drawer becomes a little bit blown up at a while. But if your device is rooted you can delete the desired apps from the system and wipe you dalvik cache to make them disappear. This method was just caught up while surfing, not yet tried. I might use root explorer to determine the position of these apps. If you use the recovery menu to backup your system you can always restore the previous state. This recovery method covers every data.
I personally will make myself an overview of the various launchers and drawers available. Probably I will give cm a chance if it becomes stable and I know a good way to sort my apps.
Important for me is a tidy desktop and drawer and the access at least a certain amount of apps at my fingertips, just like arc sorts 16 apps in 4 corners - this is really great in my opinion!

I share your pain. I love the default homescreen, but the appdrawer is really damn annoying. If you set your drawer to 'Most used' then the stock apps eventually get burried away in the last few pages.

Yeah, it's super annoying we can't uninstall stock apps... You can do the custom sort and drag them all to the end, too.
You can hide the apps icons and data by using titanium backup and freezing them, then if you want to use them, just unfreeze

Titanium backup needs root... If I root my phone, then I'm just straight up uninstalling those apps.
Why don't you guys use the folders and corners on the device?
I put all the games and applications in those, and only use the drawer for getting to new apps(which i then drag out the the folders/corners) and just have it set to "recently installed" organisation.
Imo, the modification of android SE did is just about perfectly made for a phone of this size.
I have to agree with the folders, once you use them you rarely need the app drawer. All we need now is root so we can do some serious cleaning... or unlock the bootloader...

Difference to the prior one is that wifi works now.
They keyboard does as well but with weird placement, though I set it to qwertz German layout. The backlight of the keys don't work either.
Camera isn't still fixed in the source thus still broken.
Installation hint in the text file, I forgot to mention the gapps you'll need to load.
I got up them, too if necessary.
remember:
while I am writing this post the upload is still in progress. Immediate download could lead to an incomplete file.
If you are on windos you can deflate tar.gz with winrar or 7z
cheers

Not working
I reloaded it myself with success.
flash kernel boot.img with fastboot.
Boot into Recovery by keeping pushing the power key.
wipe data & factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik-cache.
Install the cm*.zip and gapps*.zip.
Tried it just a few seconds ago again.
Here it works.
unlocked & rooted sk17i aka mango on cm71
What are your errors?
The download link isnt working ;-)

Hey xda. Okay so I'm here yet again asking for help, both in general and directly from Finlessbob or Dochoppy. So I have finally determined what I want in my new ROM "SOSA-Tab 1.0 Apricot" (or for Phones, SOSA 1.0 Apricot). Here are some of the features:
For the Nextbook Premium 7 and Velocity Micro Cruz T408:
1. Beats Audio 2. Increased GraphicsQuality 3. Speed Tweaks 4. Settings Tweaks Integration (Hoping to integrate bottom status bar BEFORE release, If anyone can help me with that it would be much appreciated) 5. (NP7 only) Cover Flow Music Player
And the list goes on and on. I am not going to tell about the phone because that is not my mission at the moment. Right now I need some help building the ROM for the Velocity. I have rooted it, but I cannot integrate the root into a custom rom, or anything else for that matter. The tablet comes stock with a recovery image that allows you to flash thefirmwaredownloaded offof the velocity cruz website in it. Here is my problem. I took out and added some stuff (namely superuser, an ereader app, etc.) and flashed in the recovery. My tablet is then sent into a bootloop and it wont work until I wipe the device via recovery and non of the stuff I added is integrated. The link provided to the site directly links you to the place where you download the firmware, for those that want to take a crack at looking at the rom, have fun. Its not in some funny file format like a cramfs or ext3 system image, its just in a ".tgz" (fancy zip file,use7zip)and insidethatisa ".tar" file(again justanotherfancyform of a zip file, use 7zip also).
For the sake of time I am not going to go too deep into the directories of the system folders, as anyone who has taken a crack at deving for android knows whats insideof them. Hopethatdoesn't look like a bunch of mumbo-jumbo, and likeI said if you want to take a crack at it, just download the firmware from the website linked above. I also want to know (from anyone with experience in this like dochoppy or finlessbob) can I convert something to expand the apps space like you all did for the Nextbook Premium 7, because 523mb of space is cool and all, but (hating to sound oh so greedy) I want MORE lol, so if there is a possibility for that I would love some assistance. And one last thing, how do I change the splash image for it, there is no ".rle" file like there was for the nextbook, so help would be appreciated for that also.
Thanks, Ognimnella
P.S. - if anyone knows how to build a custom cwm recovery for tablets like thiss that would be helpful also. Im working on custom roms but it wont let me flash.!

I have a Cruz T410, and I hear they are releasing a new line with the exact same hardware but ICS. I'm pretty good at this modding stuff, but a novice in ROM or kernel cooking, so I will be little to no help most likely. I figure that if we can extract the ROM from the new one and modify it to update our T4XXs.
I have a friend who works retail that should have one I can play with soon, so if you know how I might extract it and get it to you to mod lemme know.
As for what I've done successfully to my Cruz is:
Full Root via Gingerbreak
LCD Density to 140
Removed Status Bar (Root Explorer to remove from system folder after titanium back up)
Remapped buttons, Vol up = Menu, Vol down = Back, Power = End
I used blade buddy to change end behavior to home then screen off so holding it down still brings the shutdown menu up as normal. Made a "Sound" shortcut on homepage.
ADW EX with ICS theme
Android PRO widgets with Lucid theme.
Latest Modded Google Play
(Was tricky but got it!)
Wave Launcher
(Awesome WebOS like gesture bar of shortcuts, with sound and screen off shortcut.)
SwiftKey Keyboard
(Best for tablets!)
Every Emulator Running Smooth
System Tuner
(Adjust SD Cache to 3 or 6MB, it gives a big performance boost. Also change the auto kill to aggressive, and clean cache)
All GAPPS (Lots of trial and error to get newest possible versions of everything)
Dolphin HD ofcourse
Fully functional remote desktop (Awesome without the ugly taskbar!)
Removed Bloatware
Once again, I'm noobish, but I make much better tablets jealous.
I got the tablet as a gift and really wish it was more popular because of its potential. I'm poor so this is going to be my tab until it dies.
I don't post much and I feel kind of silly, but it feels like there isn't much good information out there for how to make it cool. I'll explain how I did everything in detail for those who ask. And would love suggestions.
Also!
I have an adapter for USB in, is it possible to add a host controller for keyboards or gamepads?
Thanks in advance..
Well damn ur a hell of a let further than I am, I rooted it, and installed hcl launcher to give me a honeycomb feel. I modified the build prop to view me as a nexus s tablet and installed the play store too, took a lot of combination experiments but I have a zip with the needed files to install. I think rather than REMOVE the status bar, I just wanna move it to the bottom of the screen. I have Nova 3 and modern combat 2 black Pegasus installed, but the calibration is misaligned due to the persist ant and horribly placed status bar. If I could find the place in the code where I can move the status bar to the bottom of the screen rather than the top, this alone would make the thing a keeper.
Oh and Google host controller for android and report back whether or not we have USB hosting, if we do, I smell a game pad purchase in the future

Right on, we are on the same page with the taskbar. I have tried installing the default gingerbnread statusbar to make it where it can hide at least, but it still showed up as the crummy stock bar even after removing the SystemUI.APK from System folder. Another option:
Copy systemUI.APK to your SD. Remove it from system folder, uninstall, re install.
This makes it show up in services so you can disable it when you want to play games or watch videos.
I think you can do this with Titanium by converting it to a user app aswell.
I too have a back up of all the latest GAPPS and my modded bulid.prop if anyone needs em.
I'll keep working on it, glad I'm no longer alone, lol.

This is a thread dedicated to only Xperia S timescape for sony ics roms.
The screenshots are like any xperia s timescape screenshots, if you like to post up some for me, i give u a hug, really.
Btw this is a flashable zip.
There's V2, please try.
Please note the new Xperia home Is included, or else the widgets won't work with the old launcher I think...
There are some differences with all the Eventstream.apk around here and I'm not sure which works with who's phone, I'm just going to post those that don't work with mine...
Timescape is quite temperamental and you have to use it on a you win some, you lose some basis, some of the widgets work, some of the widgets dont. also it may be dependent that you MUST HAVE FACEBOOK installed for some of the stuff to work, honestly i don't like the facebook app cos it's 4mb but I'm gonna attach it here anyways, try adding it to your zip before flashing (i use 7-zip)
It may also need the new music app (xperia s) which you can search in the themes and apps forum.
Update: 3:59PM 21/09/12
The TimescapeV2 is for Gingerbread roms, on gingerbread i tried it does not seem to force close
The V3 will be for ICS
If some widgets force close it will mean 2 things, another app is missing, or the app is for the wrong android version, or simply doesn't work.
You may notice differences in backgrounds if your rom's DefaultThemes.apk is different. (the default looks like a still version of cosmic-flow)
No screenie??? but if I flash dis on RealICS r5.2, will it work cos I try flash a Timescape but no result......
i flashed this but it gave me error of instillation abort!
Installation aborted
Hmm. let me investigate.
even i have problems, now its force closing for me, you can try copy all these apps into /system/app of your rom.zip with 7 zip b4 flashing, i will try to make someth...
New Version Uploaded. Pls test...
Very Good!
Force Close !!

I don't know how fix the issue, i think it works b4 i sync with google. after that it force closes...
is it working on 2.3.7?
this one for ics, tho you can try. the problem is i can use the widgets but not the app itself.
I found out this zip works very well on gingerbread... And never force close on it while it does on ics... ( Timescape app/Timescapespline.apk) will make some zips asap for you guys to test... 00:45 here...
