getting my touchpads today! a few worries - TouchPad General

I am getting my 2 32Gb touchpads today. I bought them from officedepot.com the night (yes they were only available, or in stock, for one night) they went on sale. That was back on August 20th. They went on backorder and now they are just hours from arriving.
I have two concerns. I have read on precentral's forums that people have been having cracks near the speakers. I do hope that mine don't ever develop this. Also, there have been stories about faulty batteries that don't even last a few hours before needing a charge.
What can you guys tell me about these issues? I am worried that I'll have to call HP and complain, but I hear that HP is very generous with there support options for this tablet. (Maybe they knew that this tablet had faults all along?)

1) chill out
2) wait for when you actually get the touchpads
3a) if they have problems, contact hp support
3b) if they don't, enjoy touchpads
I have not heard any significant complaints about either of these issues.

By "cracks" I believe people were referring to the crackling sound you get if you override the volume limiter (I recommend you override the volume limiter, by the way, but do not turn the speakers up all the way).
Also, any battery could have manufacturing issues. Batteries are such mature technologies, I would say your chances of getting a defective one are the same as you would have buying any consumer electronics with built in batteries. My experience was that I was shocked at how long my battery lasted. I used Pandora all night long, on wifi, not plugged into the wall, and my battery still got me through the day the next day.
WebOS, however, is a steaming pile.

Here's an update. I opened one of my touchpads today and I'm amazed at these things. I have no cracks so far in the casing and the battery seems normal. I am used to the gtablet where it would stay at 100 % for a while then die off; the touchpad's battery meter slowly ticks down 100, 95, 92.. etc..
And by cracks I mean actual cracks in the side near the speakers. There are LOT's of posts about this on the precentral forums. I won't link to them but you can find them if you want to.
My only real complaint is that there is a problem with the camera apps. I installed two of them, freecam being one, and I get errors after I launch them. I think they can't find the camera or something.

If the app cannot find the camera, then yes, you might actually have a hardware problem.
Edit: Just install FreeCam and it works fine for me D:

Try updating to the latest os (3.0.2), hopefully that should get rid of those errors?

Good idea, never read if the OP did/did not update yet.

Things to look out for in a used I9100

Hey guys, a friend of mine is selling his 8 month old S2, and he is willing to give it to me for a good price, I was thinking it would be worth the upgrade (using a i9003 now) and a brand new galaxy nexus is just too expensive (so are the other 720p screen resolution monsters ) since the s2 is still a formidable force and has loads of dev support it seems like a good idea, so this is what I wanted to know.
He is selling it because he gets poor battery life, I feel he has not optimized it right, and in right hands will do well, what is the average you guys get? I'm happy with a day (That's what I get currently on my current phone)
The phone has suffered a strong fall once on a tiled surface, this was more than 6 months ago but the only damage was a cracked screen, the touch response is perfectly fine, there's only a crack on the screen. He will fix it and sell it.
What else should I look out for? He is giving me the phone for a day to check out and use, so I wanna know what all should I check thoroughly, so that I don't buy a lemon , like issues facing the I9100, the screen discoloration, wifi strength, gps, overheating or any other issues I should know about and can be detected. (I got burned once buying a used xperia x10 which used to overheat and restart all the time! was barely even usable!) also any issues facing the early batches, any diagnostics that should be run etc...
Just asking because I'm curious and want to make an informed decision. don't wanna end up with a dud!
Thanks in advance!
Make sure it boots up and and it can take your sim card as it could be network locked , if this be the case unlock apps are on market and within this forum..
Check battery chack phone charges ok. Like anything have a play before you take up their offer..
Check whether the following:
1.Simcard slot
2.Memory card slot
3.all physical buttons
look out for:
1.scratch in camera lens.
2.condition of usb port and headphone jack.
you can leave out the software as it will be ok with a new flash, anyway check the working of all sensors by using some apps from market.

Regarding network lock it is not locked because I'm in india and the phone is from the UK and he has been using it perfectly. One question, how many water indicators are there? just in case I need to check? The usb port doesn't have a cover so it remains open so that's a concern.
@bala_gamer I see you had the same phone as I do now, and I'm contemplating a similar move!
any stress test apps I can run to see if all is ok under pressure?

If it is really a friend, why I are you scared of getting a lemon? Or is it just some guy you know, who is not really a friend?
Real friends don't sell you crap I would imagine?
*#0*# Takes you to LCD test mode. Should be able to see if screen has dead pixels and such.
It feels like no one has really answered your question so far!
I'll give it a shot.
Battery life - you're right, optimally configured SGS2s go a long way - mine will last through a day with 50-60% left over with 2 email accounts syncing (nothing else though, no Facebook, Twitter etc)
The battery life is absolutely not a problem if it's a day you're aiming for.
Problems:
Most if not all cameras have a pink spot in the centre - I don't mind it, but you can see it.
Yellowish left side of display - I have this, it's quite distracting sometimes. However, this was fixed up by the latest kernels, which balance it out a bit better. Mine is also a phone from the UK from 8 months ago, so its safe to assume this will be a problem as well, given the frequency of the problem. Not really an issue for me though with later kernels.
CM9 - ICS will be late to the party on the SGS2 because of closed source drivers - if that's a problem, get a different phone because thats unlikely to change anytime soon!
There aren't really any other problems which I can think of - its a thoroughly good phone!

Thanks man appreciate it, been reading up on the threads here and saw the major things afflicting it are the banding issue, the pink spot, the display faults... anything else?oh and what is the approx cost of replacing the cracked screen? Anyone from india can let me know?
Bump! Guys anyone knows how much a screen replacement is? Anyone from India perhaps?
Oh and guys the camera glass cover has some tiny scratches around it, nothing major but it does have a few, not too deep, but visible, will this have an effect on the quality? Because I couldn't notice anything in the pictures taken, but would like it to be at its best!

How is your prime working?

I was wondering how many people are having problems with their prime? I personally have not have any problems with mine, not even with wifi or gps.
no problems at all and i received it 3 weeks ago,no lights bleeding or anything
i haven't tested the gps wtih ics yet(i don't care much for it)
wifi shows less bars sometimes but i have the same speed everywhere in my house so its ok with me.
For the most part everything works, only problem i have is about 2mm worth of light bleeding, very unnoticeable doesnt bother me. my dock is supposed to arrive tomarrow so hopefully that is working perfect
Mine has been working perfectly. No lag, no reboots, the only issues I have are light bleed, which bother me, and what appears to be two dead pixels that you can only see when the screen is light and is oriented in portrait mode. It bothers me, honestly, but after reading all of the horror stories I may hold off on my RMA for the light bleed and dead pixels.
Just got mine yesterday @ 2:30pm and upgraded to ICS.
Like anyone with a new toy (after installing all my apps) I used it until 2am this morning.
The only moment I saw slight lag is when I had it in eco mode and was downloading 2GB of photos and 4GB of music (I figure putting music and pics as offline on a non-3g tab makes sense).

Picked up mine on Sunday in UK and been working great ever since (both the dock and the tablet itself), gone through ICS update just making it feel even better!
Now, just need a case for protection.
Been working great since I got it 12/22. ICS update is the best. This was what Prime was made to work with.
a lot of cry babies on these forums so don't believe all the negative stuff, people B*tch about anything
but mine works perfect, no problems what so ever
Mine has a couple of issues. No GPS (at all), some fairly minor light bleeding and haptic feedback doesn't work (just makes a noise but doesn't vibrate at all).
The ICS updates also reduces performance of javascript in the browser too, though scrolling and loading performance are a minor improvement. Typing in the browser is a million times better than on HC, however.
Mine is generally fine. Gps seems not to work but i dont care. I dont need it on tablet.
The only thing that concernes me is that my unit creaks a little...

Which will happen on a new release. There aren't any experts or guides yet to guide people through issues with this unit. And if people have a problem they have all received their units in the past few weeks so they are all trying to figure them out right now.
I know I just received my unit a few days ago and after reading all the threads I was terrified that I had been waiting months for a dud product. But everything appears fine.
So far, so good. I did see some banding in the display while using a game, but after rebooting the device, I haven't seen it since. WiFi's fine, I haven't tested the GPS (and I really don't have a need for it on a large tablet).
I'm waiting for an ordered keyboard dock to come into my local BB.
good
My Prime has been perfect since day one. Office Depot shipped the device to me in a padded envelope, so I was expecting physical damage, but there has been none. GPS Test never shows a sat. lock but every time I open G Maps, or a weather app, it knows exactly where I am. WiFi is great, not as good as a laptop obviously.

Not gonna lie, I am on my second TP. The first one got screwed up from ICS and couldn't do anything without it rebooting.
Got a new one yesterday from Gamestop and I couldn't be happier. Everything works perfect with ICS. I even get the free games that Gamestop includes with the TP.
Mine is working just fine since day one. I hope I can find a dock soon though.
can't say more than a true beast, its fast reliable and im happy i bought it, no problems at all
The issues are Real that some users are experiencing out there. But this poll clearly shows MAJORITY, almost 80% of Prime owners love their devices. Now new people should read stuff like this instead of all those other threads. Like some said here, they were terrified at first seeing some of the stuff posted but once they got it, it was a completely different story. Just glad my device been working great since 12/22. Plus with ICS now, my boot up times are really fast n everything in general is alot smoother n faster. Can't complain at all. Looking forward to more updates and developers updating their apps for ICS. Remember, we are the first tablet out with ICS now
I just havetoo add to this.... Typing from my newly arrived transformer running on ICS! The screen is breathtaking really WOW!! Tegra 3 really puts a new meaning in the word tablet its smooth really smooth. No issues for me so far... wifi is working and gps pinged me on maps inside in under 10 seconds so Im happy.........

HTC and Verizon still towing the party line ...

Decided to try to call Verizon and again inquire about heat. I was very specific in the inquiry ... basically that I was just checking to see if Verizon had any notes about heat, now that the phone has been out for a while.
The CSR said she did see something about exchanging batteries and would pass me on the tech support as a warranty issue.
The tech support person, after a seriously long hold time, said she reviewed the Verizon trouble database, checked with a teir 2 analyst, and even called HTC.
Not surprisingly (once HTC was involved) she came back with:
1) We recommend people with heat issues use a Vinyl case to help with heat [I guess Vinyl has heat-dissipation capabilities I was not previously aware of]
2) Hard reset the phone
3) If you are streaming and your phone gets hot, stop streaming for a while
4) Buy an extended battery [did that, still gets hot]
5) This is a very powerful processor, so it will get hot.
#5 is the key. It means"we have found the excuse that will get us out of this".
The tech rep said she saw nothing about battery exchange. She acknowledged MANY internet reports about heat, but said that Verizon can only do what HTC says they can do; and that hopefully HTC would take all these reports and develop a software fix that manages the heat better.
So no joy from Verizon, which is killing me because I really want to unlock and root, but am staying away in case the phone is no good. Of course, for all I know, I don't have heat issues, but too many people saying things like "I never go above 105" have me paranoid about my phone (which can get to 115 in regular game play, and once got to 120 in a car). If I knew that "Relocked" wouldn't be an issue if I ever had to warranty in the future, I would go ahead, but ... ugh.
Anyway, in case anyone wanted to know.
Damn talk about a run-around. Normally my phone doesn't get warm until I really start using it...for example...One day just cleaning up the house and streaming Pandora for hours allowed my phone to get fairly warm.
It's never shut down on me or anything but it still is worrisome. Makes me wonder if there is an issue with all these phones but not many people REALLY use them to find out.
Well
My phone has never rebooted on me, and perhaps too many people claiming their usage never gets the phone above X degrees is simply too specific to each person to actually mean anything to anyone else (and all these stories have done, is F'd with my mind, making me think my phone runs hot when maybe it actually doesn't) ...
but, I'll tell you this ...
This is all well and good for a phone released in November. When summer rolls around, and the ambient temperature is no longer low, I think we are going to see a lot of problems and fast. If the standard user gets to 105 in a room that's 70, that means the standard user will start seeing 135 when it is hot out. Those that can get to 115 right now, that's an explosion waiting to happen come July.
I have had two Rezound's. I stream audio all day long at work, either iheart radio or sirius radio online.
Both these services cause ANY phone to get rather warm. I'm not sure what temp my first one went to, but it got so hot in my pocket I thought it was going to burn me. Even using a 2750 batt it was going dead in like 4 hours.
The phone was two weeks old. I called VZ & they wanted to send me a refurb. I told them NFW & they finally agreed to send me a brand new phone. The new phone barely gets warm in the same conditions & that same 2750 battery lasts all day now.
My phone on average use gets about 100-105, 110 if the screen is on and on full brightness for a while. Highest I've seen is 125 when I was using an MHL adapter for over an hour, then the phone shut down. Other than that I haven't seen any shut downs related to heat. I do agree though that come summer, this IS going to be a problem, but hopefully by then they'll have figured out a way to better manage heat... I hope.
Ya know, I think people are losing sight of the fact that the power of these cpus has increased dramatically in only a couple of years. I'm typing this on a dual core 2.2GHz lenovo laptop that has cooling fans, and is running 109f doing very little. Why should we expect a dual core 1.5 jammed into a metal and plastic brick without vent holes, much less fans, to run cool?
Well ...

I agree with that no issues. I suspect a lot of my concerns comes from various people at XDA saying "I stream 1080P while playing Reckless Getaway while listening to Pandora over 1x while on the telephone and my phone never gets any warmer than 32°F/0°C".
Unfortunately, without someone with one of those magic Rezounds standing right next to me, running the same game (for example), there is no way to REALLY know if a phone is operating normally or not.

I welcome this problem coming in at summertime as they may be forced to replace my rezound with one of the new quad cores or somethin.. dont get me wrong I love this phone but if a defect got me the latest/greatest I'd be all over it..

Is the Z2 really THIS bad?

It's hard for me to imagine a Sony product that isn't made of the highest quality.
When browsing around the Sony forums and other places on the net, I keep seeing the same complaints. The magnetic charging ports are falling out which is allowing water to leak into the phone, ruining the phone. The phone also shuts down after downloading a lot of data over LTE or recording with the camera, due to overheating. I also see reports of people being unable to hold conversations because one party can not hear the other.
Are these people over exaggerating or are these real complaints? I was just ready to pull the trigger on one when I started seeing all of this stuff. Can anyone chime in that has had their phone over 1 month and has ZERO issues with it? Maybe there are just a select few that got a bad batch or something.
If you post can you also please post when you bought the phone or when you think it was manufactured. Maybe we can narrow this down to a time frame or specific region.
Just try to buy week 22 or higer (you have a little sticker that you pull out in sdcard compartment.
Yes, there are some things that we wouldn't expect from Sony but that was older batches.
I can record 5 min 4K video so can't see problem here.
All other manufacturers limited 4K to 5min, that's why they didn't have same problems.
Sony decided not to limit duration, so sometimes there will be overheating msg and closing camera.
I don't have any problem you said, I know for those guys and I'm sure that's all true but that's not general flaw and issue, that's perfectly normal...
If you aren't satisfied with Z2 you can always return in or change for another device...

I came from M8 and S5, after having the z2 for 2 months, there are couple things I really don't like about the z2, it is noticeably slower, say you click on the camera icon, it doesn't come on instantaneously, the in call voice quality and speaker phone are only ok, not great, volume is a bit on the low side.
The in call quality and dim volume is a deal breaker for me, I am looking to switch to the G3 or Note 4.

Well a huge problem is that I live in the USA and Sony will not cover any manufacture defect because there is zero warranty coverage in the US. I went through this with a Motorola phone I bought from Canada once.
So how long have you had your phone? Do you use the magnetic charging connector at all?

Yea I know that's why I wanted to ask around and see how many people weren't having problems. To me its got the best specs by far of any phone. I think the sound issues and maybe a bit of lag can be fixed with custom roms and what not. I just don't want to end up with the charging port popping out and then I don't realize it and go for a swim. The phone is going to cost me a lot of money and I won't have a warranty.

My advice - don't pay 600-800$ for device without warranty.
You never know..
I have device for a two months, I had Z1 (still have it) and I don't have any problems with both.
I totally agree with that post - nobody will open thread - my device is working perfectly -
All you can see here is problems and guys seeking for help but that doesn't mean it's faulty device.
As I said, I'm perfectly satisfied with Xperia Line and will buy Z3 as well...
That will be perfect device

Well that sounds absolutely great! I just ordered a white one from Amazon.com after reading all the great reviews on it. People are saying its the best phone they have ever used. I also picked up a charging dock. May need to get a second one but we will see. Does the phone come with a magnetic charging cable or a regular micro-USB cable?
I don't own a Z2, but what I can say is that that magnetic conector thing is half Sony's fault, half use of cheap third party cables's fault.
AFAIK, the connector wasn't meant to be used with cables, but only on stationary charging docks. The constant movement of the cable and device while using the device while charge might be the culprit to "invoke" both parties's fault I mentioned above.

I haven't heard anything about any Z2s shutting down from overheating, the camera closing on over temp is common though. How much time it takes before it hits the set point depends on a lot of variables, but basically the higher the ambient temp and/or the more heat generation inside phone(using data, high CPU loads, continuous live view, etc) prior/during camera use will impact it. I live in a warm region and when testing I got 6min of 4k before hitting alarm.
My phone is put on a magnetic dock every night and everytime I get in my and my port is doing fine.
My phone is from week 17 and has a the of center issues but everything works fine.
I didn't add a squaretrade warranty (not sure if could since didn't add it within 30 days of purchase), if I have a warranty issue prior to the US having parts I'll just send it to it's retail country.

I have w17 version and i haven't encountered any defects of any kind. This phone is awesome !
I have a week 20 phone without any issues and I consider it a fantastic device! come from note 1.
I've had my Z2 for a month now and couldn't be happier. No problems with over heating (Haven't done the 4K recording thing though), plug in my magnetic charge cable overnight (well, mostly every other night - what an awesome battery!).
I immediately installed Nova and have settled on Smart Launcher pro.
Also, was too impatient for OTA .402 update, so I did that myself.
When Sony support stops, I'll probably go CM but, for the moment, it's all good.

Thing is how to verify this when the box is sealed.
week 22 is may 26 to jun 1
is this date printed on the bar code on the box itself ?

I came to Z2 from Galaxy Note 3, before that I had HTC One.
Z2 is the best for me among the 3 devices, it is not ideal but ticks all my boxes.
I have a 14W17 and while it gets warm when recording 4K, I did not manage to overheat it. I made a test yesterday just to check out, Ireland, Dublin, around 20 degrees yesterday in the shadow. I was walking in the sun and recording for 5 minutes, 4k video with steady shot, so even more demanding for internals. The phone was warmish, but not as hot as I thought.
Afterwards I checked and the CPU temp was 61 degrees while battery temp was 37 degrees, so yes, it gets warm but not so hot.
What was making this phone really hot was the AR mode or the special effects app, that lets you put things like falling satelite, ghosts and other stuff postprocessing. Those two made the phone hot, but nothing else is able to make mine this hot and I do not care about those two modes anyway.
I would really recommend this phone but I would never buy it without any kind of warranty. I would never buy piece of electronics that is that expensive, without any kind of warranty.
Anyway, look at M8 forum, Samsung forums. Those people that are happy, usually don't praise the phone on forums, but those that have problems - do... I was really worried and almost certain, I would not buy Sony but I said oh well, let's try something new (never had Sony phone before, only sony-ericsson). I do not regret it for now, even just for battery life it was worth it for me, I don't care about waterproofness whatsoever.
Noise cancelling headphones is a great plus as well!
Z2 should be available later this year is USA I think, if not, maybe Z3?

Lets not forget that fact that usually theres only people posting with problems. ofcourse it looks like alot problems when only they post who got issues with their phone.

Exactly this, most people come to the forum are looking for help solving a problem or require specific needs but the truth is that these people are a vast minority of all the users of the phone rather than people making threads praising and complementing the device except for example if you look in the battery thread or the camera thread.
I've got a week 15 model and I love my phone, it's the best phone I've ever had, the previous phones I had that I considered the best were the Xperia X1 and the Motorola V3X.
Anyway, don't be dissuaded from the phone because of complaints you see in forums but that warranty issue, that's a bit dodgy, I wouldn't buy something if it didn't come with a guarantee or warranty.

You should be able to inspect the device before purchasing it and if you're purchasing from an online retailer you should have 7-14 days exchange/refund as per distance selling laws (if applicable in your country) if you're not happy with it after inspection, you wouldn't buy a car without taking a look inside/giving it a test drive would you?

Well a huge problem is that I live in the USA and Sony will not cover any manufacture defect because there is zero warranty coverage in the US. I went through this with a Motorola phone I bought from Canada once.

I find this odd since t-mobile already offers the z2 in the US. Isn't it possible to buy off contract from sony within the US as well ?

Way they do it in my country is they show you a demo model that is tethered with a security cable. You can play with that one as long as you want.
Then if you decide to buy they offer you a sealed box, some may open it if there is a possibility of a sale otherwise not. Prefer to buy from a shop than online.
I understand that there is date printed on the barcode of the box itself, so wondered if there was a correlation between whats printed on the microsd tray and the box itself.
This way its much easier to distinguish newer batches from old without opening the box.
Can anyone confirm ?

Battery Replacement - is it possible? Where to buy?

Hi guys,
my Nexus 9 started to randomly shutdown around 40-50% with some strange noises and screen artefacts. I know some people faced that as well. I've tried to go trough that google support bull*hit and finally when we agreed it's battery issue, they stopped answering - seriously.
So I've removed the back cover - it's pretty easy. The battery is 2 pieces, one is ok, the second is probably dead - very bloated. So I need a new battery and it will probably be ok. BUT the battery is impossible to buy
I've contacted our local HTC partner repair centre, but they told me, they no longer do repairs, they just send it to HTC, so they cannot say how much will the battery replacement cost :silly:
So finally the question - is there any way how to get a new battery for the Nexus 9? Swap is super easy and paying half a price of the tablet for battery replacement, which I can do in 3 minutes is just lame.
Anyone saw Nexus 9 battery as spare part? Anywhere? I've found a guy in Poland, but he's not replying to my emails.
Thanks!

Don't waste your time putting a new battery in it. It's a hardware issue. My first N9 thr exact same issue after 4 months of use and ultimately had to be replaced. There's another forum here on XDA pertaining to the exact same issue. Under 50% screen locks up with a scrambled image and loud noise from the speakers. It's a bad motherboard and the only fix is a new motherboard or new Nexus 9. Trust me on this. You can replace the battery, but it won't help this issue. Sorry

Furthermore, both Google and HTC know of this issue. I swear they instruct their tech people to play dumb.
Sadly that make sense. After I've send a few photos, when I was quick enough to take a photo of the display before shutdown, google support went silent!
These are not a good news, but I thank you for reply and sharing some light on it. I will consider buying a new tablet then.

Makes sense. My N9 has had minimal use (displaced by Pixel-C). Brought it out of hibernation a while back, and it kees crashing (even when on charge!)
I've had this problem with crashing and loud noises several times. Previously I had a charging issue, under warranty the mainboard was replaced. A long while after that the problems with scrambled screen and loud noises started. I then disconnected the battery, and reconnected it, and the problem went away for a long time. But it has returned and even returning more often.
So I ordered a replacement battery via ebay (straight from China), and yesterday I finally found some time to replace it. First thing I noticed the tablet is more responsive, snappier.. It hasn't discharged enough to reproduce the problem, but I had trouble lately with updating apps when it wasn't on the powersupply, which convinced me it was a faulty battery. Now it's updating without charger no problem at all.
2,5 weeks after replacing the battery, and the problem did not come back. I'm happy with it.. pretty easy fix..
So the same problem has been happening to me also, got the N9 up to 7.1.1 and this started to happen a lot more. Seems to be when the battery is low (under 50% or 40%, somewhere around there) and usually when I'm looking at the Chive app, mostly again with animated GIF's they have. I'm not sure it's happened with games since I mostly game on my N6 since it has more RAM so it plays a bit better where the 2GB on the N9 is too laggy.
Any way, so this happens now too. So some say bad motherboard, others say bad battery. Has anyone gone through the trouble of the motherboard replacement? Or have actually had HTC replace the motherboard on warranty? If yes, has it made the problem go away? Has anyone else bought a battery off eBay (I can't find them new OEM anywhere and I hate the idea of a Chinese knockoff so close to my hands and face - ya know, fire) and had the problem go away?
I've replace all manners of parts from various phones so I know I can do it to the N9, which is just a large ass phone. I have to give up my N9 for some Samsung tablet (sorry 7" tablets are too small). I love having a 8"-10", pure vanilla Android tablet. I wish Google would make another one that was like the N9.

I couldn't figure out how to unplug the cables.
You need to pull it vertically from the board. I used a guitar pick to make it a bit looser, then I pulled it of.

Is it still working?
I am pretty sure is the battery connector. I unplugged and replugged the connector and the problem was gone for a few days. I could finally solve it applying a contact cleansing spray to the connector and then using a special kind of glue which is typically used to prevent screws for unfasten. It has worked perfectly since then, no need to replace the battery.

Just wanted to be sure this was the root cause.
Already exchanged my battery in the meantime.
Thanks anyway!
I installed a replacement battery six months ago due to shortening run times on the original battery. I purchased it from newpower99.com for $60. They have an instructional video on their site that shows how to replace the Nexus 9's battery. It worked well for me, giving me a run time that was comparable to the run time when the Nexus 9 was new.
