No. It is unbranded off contract from Phones4U. Just unsure if its an XW or XX ROM and which CSC.

Just check the latest firmware from branded post for your location and use that number to find stock rom .

Edit: Must be Brazilian. All I know is the menu was in Spanish when I first turned it on.
Input *#1234# in the dialpad and post the CSC details, that's how we'll know what region it's from. Will be either Trinidad and Tobago (TTT), Dominican Republic (TDR), Venezuela (VNO) or Costa Rica (TPA).

Wow .. someone who understands the naming convention ! Can you please tell me which original versions contain Czech in it ? What letters I'm supposed to look for ?
I've seen convention tables on samfirmware .. but there are no ROMs with names they describe.
At the moment I have ROM made for T-mobile Germany, which also contains Czech .. but I want unbranded ROM.

MultiCSC XW firmware versions in the firmware thread will be for Czech Republic
looking at a near new GS2 here in the UK
How do I ID a true sim free GS2 vs just an unlocked one?
You probably can't if it's been correctly flashed to a generic ROM (which is what I presume you mean by unlocked), but if it hasn't, you can type *#1234# into the dialer and check the CSC.
whats the "CSC"?
CSC = country specific settings network settings etc .
Original Product code Original seller may give you a slight clue .
But network provider sell both locked and unlocked phones .
IMEI checking may give a slight clue as to country of origin

Is getting a simfree/non-locked phone from carrier SAME as getting a phone from retail shop?
Is it necessary that a carrier locked phone will have carrier's logo on it?
If you want to see if your device is sim locked at all you should be able to type the following into the dialer.
*#SIMLOCK#

Two distinct variations
One SIM LOCKED = locked to a network
Branded Phone carrys network or sellers branding .
Sim locked are often branded but branded may not be simlocked .

Sure, if you want to downgrade. KE2 is 2.3.3. KI8 (which is what your phone is currently) is 2.3.5.

Any of the 2.3.5 firmwares in that thread are generic. That is the unbranded firmware thread. But I wouldn't worry about it; official unbranded ICS is likely to be posted in that thread as well.

You may not get an update via Kies in all probability using a stock firmware can result in no matching product on Kies server .
You either wait for Kies update or start updating yourself via stock rom path .
The method is to pick stock rom to match your location .

Hey,
I bought the i9300 in Argentina (made in Argentina as well).
I've bought it from Movistar (Argentine carrier) and I've flashed a UK stock rom and also this modem I9300XXLH1.
I'm having trouble with the 3g connection. It connects, but works very slow. Should I flash another modem? In case I should. where can I find one for Argentina. I've already searched the web for answers, and the closesest I got was finding an Argentine unbranded rom. Should I look just for a modem?
Thank's a lot.

In the modem thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740061) there is section about "Argentina, Mexico, Colombia" (modem UBLG2 dated from 04/7/2012). You can always try it. If don't work, revert back to the modem of your current ROM.

Modem:xxdlid.

A simple question but i couldn't find the answer. I flashed my i9300 but i have no idea weather it came with UK, Dutch or Dutch Vodafone firmware. Is there any way to find this out?
Als is there any way a service center can look it up through your serial number or imei?
A similar thread about this for the I9100 / SII went unanswered.

If you dont know then outside of asking Samsung all you can do is guess .
Some say Kies will give original firmware .Tools Firmware upgrade and initialization .
jje
Why don't you flash one that's for your country? It doesn't matter for Samsung warranty if that's the case because once it's their software they don't ask questions.
Mine came with a Dutch firmware, it's a 32 GB and I flash Cyanogenmod over it.
Try http://androidfirmwares.net and look for Galaxy S3 Roms.

After i rooted and then updated through Kies, it did reset the Device status from modified to normal, but let's not confuse that with getting the firmware of the original locale/provider. Kies update didn't change the firmware. So either i already had the original firmware, or it just updates.

That's very reassuring and just what i wanted to hear
The reason i'm not sure what the original firmware is, is that in the past, two of my preordered android phones had UK firmware (probably because the UK shipped a few weeks earlier). On top of that this is my first phone with a contract (subsidized) but from a website (gsmweb) rather than the provider. So the firmware could be UK, Dutch or Dutch Vodafone afaik...
Either i have the right firmware, or Kies just reads the current firmware, not the origingal. If i ever flash another firmware, i'll check if Kies still says this (Dutch, unbranded) is my original firmware.

LH1 is a recent firmware so if your phone is older than a few months its not the original .
((Some say Kies will give original firmware ))
like i said some say that .
But i have no evidence that they are not getting a Kies report based on the HDSWVER in the windows registry .I could test as i know my original firmware but KIES is not a product i use .

Hi everyone
I am confused with this problem that I have: I bought Samsung Galaxy S3 international version GT-i9300. Now, I live in Australia. My question is, when I go to my phone to check software update or Samsung Kies to check software update, which will be visible/show up/ be downloaded to my phone? The latest version for International SGS3 OR the latest version for Australian SGS3?
Confusing isn't it?
So long story short: when there is a new update, which one is it? Is the software/firmware update based on the country of purchase (In this case, international version) or where I am living (Australia)?

Alright my apologies, I am the noob.
So, just making sure, because I still do not quite get it.
I will simplify this question even more. When there is asoftware update for my SGS3, which one will my phone download? The international software update(Because my phone is international) or will my phone download the australian software update(Because I live in australia)?
Still need help with this.

It will download the update that is in line with your firmware code. If you use an Australian firmware it will be the update for this Australian firmware once it is released.

Mine is internatinal version GT-i9300, so when there is an update, my phone will download that one, and the Australian update is irrelevant for me?

It is not so much the intentional but the firmware Version, e.g. uk, Australian etc., you can find it under settings about phone. If your firmware is e.g. The uk version and stock you will get UK otas.
