Hi,
i want root my SE Xperia X10 Mini Pro with this. I want to install "cooked" ROMs. Is there any way for reactivate the warranty after rooting or root my device without voiding the warranty?
P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

If I'm not mistaken the only way to void the warranty is by installing new custom kernels which means you'll have to unlock the bootloader. There are many roms out there with the stock kernel.
the warranty won't be loose
if you root your phone you won't loose your warranty, but if you open the bootloader then yes.

first rooting your phone will not void your warranty, as @faiyyaz said it brings you the possibility of installing custom roms. like minicm 7-2.0.x or ginger dx.
Second opening the bootloader is used to install custom kernels with this you can install minicm7-2.1.1 rom that is more stable. note: this will void the warranty
third you can re-lock the bootloader for warranty purposes here is a complete guide that explains how to un-lock an re-relock you're phone, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225 there you'll find more information about the warranty.
Therefore, if you doesn't want to void the warranty there is no problem to root you're phone and install a custom rom that doesn't requiere to open the bootloader!!

Try to ask your nearest phone service and ask them to unlock your bootloader
Well,I adviced you to NOT unlock your bootloader as it is hard to relock it back (especially if you want to receive official ICS by sony)

As far as I know only stock roms can be instaled w/o bootloader unlocked :/
;////
samsung phones are much much much better in this case!!;9
Bootloader can be unlocked only 2 ways. Service shops will likely ask money. Relocking is actually easier than unlocking.
There is only one ROM that doesn't require unlocked bootloader, Xperia UXP NXT.

I got lucky I could unlock it for free via Omnius it was a mess tho >.< but I'm very happy with the results
What's omnius
??
It's like wotan server, allows you to unlock your bootloader, flash stock roms I think and check and repair your phone, it works for SE and Samsung if I'm not wrong :$
Edit:
You can check in here: http://www.omnius-server.com/

You can try to unlock your bootloader by downloading the flashtool and image created by quanghut. Try to search the link, I cant post links yet, I used that to unlock my bootloader.

You cannot unlock bootloader via Flashtool or any image files.
Bootloader is done via Official method or test point method. Quagnhut's(sorry if misspelled) program also uses official SE method.

Yea, it is basically the same as you would go yourself through the guide on unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com.
Hi,
I'm one of those who rooted their phone. Mine is sk17i mini pro. But opt to have locked Bootloader for warranty purposes.
My question is, the customization is quite limited, is a rooted phone with locked Bootloader as good as a unit with unlocked Bootloader because both have voided warranty?

And? What you want to know?
You can flash Stock ftf file to your phone with locked bootloader and the warranty is valid but after unlock you lose DRM keys so even if you relock your bootloader , the warranty is voided.
But the only way to keep DRM keys is via testpoint right?? But you still lose your warrany?

Yea they say that
but I am not sure. Some one should try to unlock and relock bootloader via testpoint method and then take it for warranty.
Only then it will be confirmed

Having an unlocked bootloader will enable you to flash custom kernels which allow the phone to have further modifications like installing custom ROMs.
You can have an early serving of ICS for example.
You can also accomplish Overclocking, Undervolting and some other performance tweaks.
Rooted phone with locked bootloaders as far as I know would not void warranty. I may be wrong. But in this kind of setup, you are just limited with modifying appearance and adding some performance tweaks on your phone.
Warranty about rooting varies with shops and operators. Some say rooting voids, some don't, ask your seller for more information.

I got a SE xperia pro mk16i..Does my warranty gets void if i root it??
And how to root it??
No Bro uer warranty will not void if you root with locked bootloader
I actually think that rooting voids your warranty, and as for the rooting procedure, there's probably a guide on the forum

Rooting MAY void your warranty. But there are ways to "unroot" so that you can send your phone back for warranty without being caught. As for how to root, different phones have different ways to root. I would recommend going to your specific device's forum and ask, or you can try gingerbreak.

Hi all
My wife is considering to root her phone, but she does not want to root it, unless it is possible to unroot so it can be sent in for warranty porpuses...
So is it just to unroot it, and sent it in for warranty??
Kind regards

Yup you can unroot it and claim the warranty. However warranty would be void if you unlock the bootloader..

You can unroot using repair option in pc companion or you can unroot using this script
Just reflash stock rom in flashtools and root is gone
i was thinking to relock my bootloader. please help me to decide by giving me advantages of locked bootloader or the risk of using unlocked bootloader (or vice versa) thanks.
Locked bootloader doesn't have much advantages other than maybe your warranty will be back but still if you don't want warranty back you shud be stuck with unlocked bootloader.....

DRM keys are lost forever if unlocked by official method. Relocking will not help for officially unlocked bootloader. Do this only if you have to take your phone to Sony. Maybe it is different for testpoint method..

Warranty...... But I doubt you will get full warranty if you obtained the unlock code officially from Sony.. They register the request with your IMEI and void your warranty...But somewhere Sony mentioned to give conditional warranty, provided the device wasnt damaged with any mod you made "frying your processor by overclocking" ...Still its worth relocking if you claim warranty/service.. Apart from that, theres no big deal.

Download music info on unlocked bootloader!! It works, I have tried it. No need to relock bootloader, just download and replace the SemcMetaDataCleanup.apk. Tested with ThilianaC's walkman player. Should obviously work on the walkman players mentioned in the link.
