Possible to enable hw acceleration via build.prop? - Optimus One, P500, V General

Sooo im coming from a vibrant and I've flashed this phone to Gingerbread and O/C it too the Max settings yet I still feel like I can push This phone a little further, and back on the vibrant forums we had all sorts of build.prop tweaks including HW acceleration. Has any one tried it on they're phone?

Hardware acceleration is disabled by default in the void rom. You have to enable that manually. Same goes for stagefright.
Instructions are on the rom page itself.
I have a question regarding void echo ... when i try to install some games, games that are over 20mb ... my phone reboots ... why ?
I dont know but my phone used to do that with the Megatron ROM and I flashed milks cyangenmod7 2.3.3 beta 6.2 and it doesnt do it anymore i actually prefer CM7 over ther void and megatron ROM but thats me im not sure why it does it i know it did it before i flashed a ROM too with with more than one of my optimus ts (I have had 4 lol im hard on my phones thats why i have insurance)
I know how. To enable hardware acceleration but I want to check weather its on or not.

Click to collapse
You can't actually CHECK whether its enabled or not, but scrolling through homescreens should be a lot snappier and smoother now, because it relies on the GPU rather than the processor.
Checking if hwacc is active is easy. Open build.prop and search value for this string
Code:
debug.sf.hw
if it is 1,hwacc is on. If it is 0,hwacc is off.
Thanx....

Screen off issues

Hi,
So we have an app at work that uses the acceleration when the phone is locked, but on the ACE for some reason it doesnt work (it works fine on my SGS2 and all other handsets, )
Is there a way to enable this? or does anyone know of a version of rom that enables this?
Thanks!
steve
Fix, flashed the earliest 2.3.3 euro rom and that fixed it

Official twitter app buggy/laggy

Has anyone else found their twitter app laggy and slow to respond to touch especially when scrolling? Its really bad for me so much so as I'm using another app for now. I'd prefer to use the official version. Does anyone know what the problem might be.

It is gingerbread. There's a video on YouTube called something like "android is now as smooth as iOS" the video shows the difference when the GPU is allowed to regulate use in ICS.

Actually, it's laggy on both my Galaxy Nexus and my Note ...it's not really related to Gingerbread or ICS because the official Twitter app sucks on both and I've noticed it for a while now. Hopefully they fix it.

Yeah, it has to do with Gingerbread, not the phone itself. I saw the same YouTube video, where the user forced 3D GPU rendering on ICS and the twitter app was smooth as butter. It has to do with Android not defaulting/forcing the full use of the GPU for rendering, probably has something to do with battery life. I think if you are on ICS, and have Developer Tools in the settings menu (probably some custom rom has this enabled) then you can force gpu rendering.
Read here. They recently updated, and the article was nice enough to mention the Note specifically!
I just updated it. It's not 100% smooth, but it is probably 100% better than it was 2 days ago. It was almost unusable before...
I update and found it to be better also

Is Twitter serious. to post comments smaller then a text message I have to ramp my GPU up to waste power??

sharpness tweaks... how to revert / get rid of it?

nearly every dev uses this tweak now, which makes the screen just too blurry.
is there a way to set the sharpness to factory defaults?
hopefully someone would help me, tried to ask that in several topics now, but nobody cared.

What are you talking about exactly?
Sent by Galaxy S III
about the 'hardcore sharpness tweaks'.
flash a stock rom and compare it ie. with siyah kernel. the screen/image quality is blurry compared to the stock rom.

2 solution:
-use a kernel without this tweak
-recompile the kernel yourself with this tweak removed

[q]new ROM toolbox tweaks

Has anybody messed with the new kernel tweaks in ROM toolbox?
And if so any advice
Sent from my MB870 AKA DX2 DZKCM7
Be very careful messing with rom toolbox tweaks and the x2.
Some things might not be compatible due to the locked down nature of the x2.
That being said, make a nandroid backup and you will most likely be okay if anything goes wrong just restore it.
What kind of tweaks are you talking about tho?
I second what Ash says. Be careful with ROM Toolbox. Our phone doesnt support many Kernel Tweaks. And a lot of what ROM Toolbox does, our phone doesnt support. So some may work but others may cause a bootloop.
Rom Toolbox
The memory manager is quite nice, and it helps if your music skips, and I have never had Rom toolbox cause a boot loop on my phone and I have used most of the tools it offers, just dont use the tools it has for installing/backing up/restoring roms, most dont work or cause problems
Love ROM toolbox sd tweaks, kernel tweaks, random boot screens, mem manager, CPU tweaks (min max), app manager, they all seem to work great for me
Best of all build prop edit
Don't be scared
