Has anybody messed with the new kernel tweaks in ROM toolbox?
And if so any advice
Sent from my MB870 AKA DX2 DZKCM7
Be very careful messing with rom toolbox tweaks and the x2.
Some things might not be compatible due to the locked down nature of the x2.
That being said, make a nandroid backup and you will most likely be okay if anything goes wrong just restore it.
What kind of tweaks are you talking about tho?
I second what Ash says. Be careful with ROM Toolbox. Our phone doesnt support many Kernel Tweaks. And a lot of what ROM Toolbox does, our phone doesnt support. So some may work but others may cause a bootloop.
Rom Toolbox
The memory manager is quite nice, and it helps if your music skips, and I have never had Rom toolbox cause a boot loop on my phone and I have used most of the tools it offers, just dont use the tools it has for installing/backing up/restoring roms, most dont work or cause problems
Love ROM toolbox sd tweaks, kernel tweaks, random boot screens, mem manager, CPU tweaks (min max), app manager, they all seem to work great for me
Best of all build prop edit
Don't be scared

Here's my settings any advice?

Ok so no one uses this app to tweak settings?

So I'm sure a good majority all ready know. But ROM toolbox has a root explorer built into it in the latest edition, and that is included in the free edition as well. Plus it allows you to set the scaling governor and cpu sliders, along with some other little nifty tweaks. So if you haven't checked it out, I would.
Thanks, nice find.
Not a problem.

I was playing with settings. Worked great. I moved lcd density all the way down....wow was the icons small.... cant wait till our device is listed. Will defently buy when our device is supported.

Yeah, I think I will as well.
Conflict b/n Rom Toolbox and Rom Manager
Can anyone offer a suggestion on where I should go to find out why I'm having a conflict between Rom Toolbox Pro and Rom Manager/Clockworkmod?
I'm having it with both UnNamed 1.2 and CM7 7.1. I can't do anything like backing up or installing roms because Rom Manager is blocking everything unless I buy the paid version of Rom Manager...what's up?
Thanks in advance and sorry if I put this in the wrong place.

I don't use ROM manager but when I was on home base it had ROM manager and I had no conflicts. Have you tried any other ROM's?

Likewise. I've tried LCD densities between 200-264. I noticed anything over 240 changes the way the weather widget displays. Unfortunately at this time we can only change the min frequency on CPU slot 4 per developer. Additional profiles for the remaining slots are being considered, however I think the developer wants to see greater interest for the same first?

Go to the bottom, download the last attachment...I've that's a pdf, beta 9 6.3. Next go to market download script manager. open script manager, browse as root, then go to you're download location of the file and click on it. Within new menu, clock on SUn near top then click run. Follow the instruction and when all the option show up select option #9, super 1000 HP. Let it finish when the option show up again choose option 26 to reboot. Let it reboot etc. after it reboots open script manager then go to this directory: /data
Look for the 99 super charger.sh file that was created, select it. In new menu select SU and BOOT. Then click safe, then finally turn it off and let it reboot. And voila enjoy your super charged phone.... I noticed a HUGE IMPROVEMENT is sharpness and responsiveness.

Pretty much the same in AnTuTu and CF Bench for me. What is smoother is the overall UI experience. I don't do much gaming on the Note, I have a TF101 with emulators for gaming if I want to play some mobile games.
I used to run this on my Infuse but was not sure if I wanted to try on my new Note. With no CWM to do a Nandroid backup just in case.
Just installed it and it works great as usual!
Thanks for testing this out!
I'll post the pdf in a few

I used to use that on my dell streak and it worked.
I find that ROM TOOLBOX provides a more refined way to alter the OOM settings, plus you can increase SD card speeds, access build.prop, sys ctl tweaks - plus u can run them at bootup too... It's a lot easier - give it a try
i followed the instructions. Can someone explain what this actually does, in English?
This thread should be moved to Development.
Does seem to make the device more responsive. I can actually use ADW EX launcher again. Before I did this it had considerable more lag. Now it's almost like using a custom ROM on my SkyRocket.
u have to be rooted though?
i didnt really want to root until CWM and roms are out
and something to prevent triangle and flash count
Root is required to run script manager.
Works great on my Note. Helped to smooth it out and give it a litttle more speed.
When I was on the Infuse a lot of the DEV's included it in their ROM's
changes the out of memory (OOM) settings - androids native task manager - helps keep your launcher in memory too, most ppl will notice that you see ReDraws a lot less and smoother/snappier scrolling

would'a been nice to know ahead of time, tx for posting Dave.
needs to be moved to AT&T Galaxy Note I717 Android Development i agree.
I used the Super Charge Script on my Epic and Epic Touch so I am familiar with how it makes the device smoother/snappier. But I do have a question. If you have programs like Facebook, Wordfeud, weather apps, timelines, etc., set to check for updates and alerts say every hour, will this kill them to free up RAM and keep you from receiving updates? I never seemed to have any problems with my Epic, but want to know for sure how it works.
Says i don't have
You don't have a /data/local.prop!
BUILD.PROP to be SuperCharged!
This can cause boot loops...
...so have a backup available!
And keyboard won't pop up

OK so i think I figured it out. For those on fjs roms. You have to disable andrev oc so it disables the CPU profiles set in fj-tools. I did this by using rom toolbox. Go into root explorer and browse to system/xbin and find the andrev oc file and rename it to andrev oc.bak then set a CPU profile with which ever app you are using and reboot. I'm using system tuner to both overclock and undervolt. This is working for me so far. You can check by going into settings ans clicking on CPU tweak. If it force closes then its disabled. I was checking logcats and it is no longer changing the CPU back to default settings on screen lock. Flap feel free to chime in if this is gonna break something else. Other wise no issues yet.

Not that I'm aware of. However, if you tell me what ROM you're using, I'd be more than willing to get you a patched "services.jar" so that you can finish installing supercharger.
If you'd like?
I started useing the pimp my rom app and it works pretty well. With the minfree values

I'm scared to mess up my player somehow when I put a room on it. So any alternate things I can do to improve it with out a rom??
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Improve in what way? You can install a custom kernel on it to boost performance a bit. You can also get some root apps from the play store like no frils cpu tuner. If talking about look of the UI you can also get another launcher. Adw, launcher pro, and holo launcher seem to work the best on stock rom.

I already have a launcher on it more so looking for as to improve it. Will a kernel make a big difference??

In my opinion it does. I was like you and didn't want to install a custom rom at all. I installed just the kernel and it did increase my battery life by a good margin. Most kernels increase your max clock speed to 1.2ghz, and give you the option to set a governor that manages your clock speeds better than stock, which also helps with performance. Also you sometimes get the option to undervolt, and that does help with battery life. I forgot to mention that when you use a custom kernel you get the ability to make nandroid backups with CWM (and it's the easiest way to get CWM on our players)
But just like Unhived__Mind said adding a custom rom vastly increase the abilities our galaxy player has lol.
