Everybody is burnt out from the big ICS update.

OK so i think I figured it out. For those on fjs roms. You have to disable andrev oc so it disables the CPU profiles set in fj-tools. I did this by using rom toolbox. Go into root explorer and browse to system/xbin and find the andrev oc file and rename it to andrev oc.bak then set a CPU profile with which ever app you are using and reboot. I'm using system tuner to both overclock and undervolt. This is working for me so far. You can check by going into settings ans clicking on CPU tweak. If it force closes then its disabled. I was checking logcats and it is no longer changing the CPU back to default settings on screen lock. Flap feel free to chime in if this is gonna break something else. Other wise no issues yet.

[Q] Cannot overclock android

I have Htc Thunderbolt and Asus transformer and would like to OC. Both are rooted and installed it custom kernel that can be OC. They showed up in about phone and about tablet so I know they were flashed correctly. I'm using setcpu to OC but when I go into the app the max that it is showing me is 1ghz and I can set anything higher. Is there any other settings I need to mess with? I flashed the zip folder in clockwork recovery mode.

You need to use a kernel which allows frequencies above 1Ghz for your device.
What is the frequency range of your kernel? Did you select "autodetect" to allow setcpu to recognize the frequencies?
Is SetCPU asking for, and are you granting it superuser permissions? If you don't grant it superuser permissions you can underclock, but not overclock.
OK it was set on nvidia tegra2 I didn't know you set it for auto detects thanks for the help.

The simplest way is to use ROM Toolbox app. It has a range from 122MHz to 2.016GHz.

Go to the bottom, download the last attachment...I've that's a pdf, beta 9 6.3. Next go to market download script manager. open script manager, browse as root, then go to you're download location of the file and click on it. Within new menu, clock on SUn near top then click run. Follow the instruction and when all the option show up select option #9, super 1000 HP. Let it finish when the option show up again choose option 26 to reboot. Let it reboot etc. after it reboots open script manager then go to this directory: /data
Look for the 99 super charger.sh file that was created, select it. In new menu select SU and BOOT. Then click safe, then finally turn it off and let it reboot. And voila enjoy your super charged phone.... I noticed a HUGE IMPROVEMENT is sharpness and responsiveness.

Pretty much the same in AnTuTu and CF Bench for me. What is smoother is the overall UI experience. I don't do much gaming on the Note, I have a TF101 with emulators for gaming if I want to play some mobile games.
I used to run this on my Infuse but was not sure if I wanted to try on my new Note. With no CWM to do a Nandroid backup just in case.
Just installed it and it works great as usual!
Thanks for testing this out!
I'll post the pdf in a few

I used to use that on my dell streak and it worked.
I find that ROM TOOLBOX provides a more refined way to alter the OOM settings, plus you can increase SD card speeds, access build.prop, sys ctl tweaks - plus u can run them at bootup too... It's a lot easier - give it a try
i followed the instructions. Can someone explain what this actually does, in English?
This thread should be moved to Development.
Does seem to make the device more responsive. I can actually use ADW EX launcher again. Before I did this it had considerable more lag. Now it's almost like using a custom ROM on my SkyRocket.
u have to be rooted though?
i didnt really want to root until CWM and roms are out
and something to prevent triangle and flash count
Root is required to run script manager.
Works great on my Note. Helped to smooth it out and give it a litttle more speed.
When I was on the Infuse a lot of the DEV's included it in their ROM's
changes the out of memory (OOM) settings - androids native task manager - helps keep your launcher in memory too, most ppl will notice that you see ReDraws a lot less and smoother/snappier scrolling

needs to be moved to AT&T Galaxy Note I717 Android Development i agree.
I used the Super Charge Script on my Epic and Epic Touch so I am familiar with how it makes the device smoother/snappier. But I do have a question. If you have programs like Facebook, Wordfeud, weather apps, timelines, etc., set to check for updates and alerts say every hour, will this kill them to free up RAM and keep you from receiving updates? I never seemed to have any problems with my Epic, but want to know for sure how it works.

You don't have a /data/local.prop!

This can cause boot loops...

OC on ICS

I installed the OC kernel but it doesn't seem to stick. I am using SetCPU and even though I've set a profile for 1800 speed, when I get out of the app, and go in it again, it goes right back to the 1500 speed.
Anyone else have this issue with it?

be sure your aren't over-riding it with another setting somewhere in the Rom. Most custom Roms have the SET ON BOOT so it your using that or an app like RomToolbox that could conflict the settings.
Looks like FJ Tools is overriding it. How do I get SetCPU to take priority?

Undervolting applications?

About to flash Sebastian's 1.4. I was just wondering what applications people are fond of for undervolting and over clocking.

Or you could use System Tuner
SetCPU is the general go-to app for its straightforward appearance. The voltage tab sometimes does not appear even for a custom kernel with voltage tables; compatibility issues the app maker needs to correct.
Try System Tuner for an interface with a lot of other useful options and info with graphics.
Incredicontrol offers an interface similar in layout to SetCPU, and can toggle the Force Fast/AC Charge option for kernels with that have it. However, its voltage tables have had gray text on a white background for some users lately, making it a minor nuisance to read. Got the problem on my setup.

Personally do -75mV across the board typically, pushing -82.5mV testing. -50mV should be reasonable for less accomadating cores.
All depends on your own CPU quality. Don't set tables on boot or by script unless they prove stable first. Or, just redo again each boot manually to be safest.

Funky kernel doesn't have adjustable voltage settings. It has a fixed -50mV undervolt. Not sure on dsb's kernel.

I'm pretty sure dsb's works, but I haven't run Sense in a month, so I couldn't tell you what apps work with it. Try IncrediContol if you haven't already.

Need kernel help with Infection 2.9.1

I'm on Infection 2.9.1 and I also flashed the latest Hiro kernel. I downloaded Trickster MOD to change settings. I'm getting a lot of reboots but I'm also trying to save as much battery as possible. I have no idea what settings to mess with and what to change them too. My phone settings had a Performance settings where you can change CPU settings and I also have Trickster like I said, just don't know which to use. I think both are on which might be causing problems? I posted some screenshots, could some please help me get something going? - Thanks guys!

OK I got that part but what settings should I use? I'm not good with kernels and these apps, changing voltages, etc. My phone has been overheating and boot looping a lot. I also want to get best battery life possible. I just don't know what settings to use. Also if I'm using trickster to tweak my CPU shouldn't the performance in my phone settings be shut off? I'm open to using another tuner app.

There is an option in kernel tuner for it. Some kernels do not support changing that setting though.
Now that he released it, this is what I used on infection the past week when 2.9.1 came out. It works amazingly. On install it gives you options for sleep 2 wake and screen off frequency (I set mine to on and 384 with no adverse issues)

So this kernel will replace Hiro which I'm using now?
And you keep saying to change sleep freq to 384? I'm guessing that will fix my wake issues. What about fixing my battery life and boot loops?
Sent from my Infected Rezound using Tapatalk 2
Can anyone else chime in? This is what I'm trying to accomplish.
1. Fix boot loops
2. Stop the over heating
3. Make battery last as long as possible
4. Fix the wake up issues. When I press power button to wake phone the capacitive buttons turn on but the screen doesn't.
These are the issues that I'm trying to fix. Like I said I'm currently on infection 2.9.1 using lastest hiro kernel. I need some helping finding the right kernel to use and what settings to use with kernel tuner or trickster mod app doesn't matter.

That kernel will replace hiro. You can set screen off freq upon flashing in recovery. The below pictures is my current settings for the past week and only had one freeze (it was testing something out for the kernel before released). In the picture, screen off and idle freq are disabled as you change settings when flashing the kernel. (During install, aroma will ask if you want to do default or custom install, custom for more options.) Pictures are in thumb format so less space is used in the forum. You can change second core to something else. Lionheart is a performance based governor. I use it on second core with mpdecision having a longer wait to turn on core 1 for my personal optimal battery saving/performance. Core 0 is set for power save bias so only when I need speed, core 1 will kick on with some higher MHz while CPU 0 catches up a little later.
Battery savings isn't too great, but unless you are doing some CPU intensive stuff, it does pretty well on battery.
This is CPU times today... Mind you, I used my phone for a total of 4hrs from 530-1640. The reason it stayed at 192 a lot was because I just did texting, web browsing and some other low CPU intensive tasks so far today (about 20-30mins of awake time in 192 was screen off streaming a local radio station.) Ran buttery smooth though.
