[Q] New Tablet Carrefour CT704 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anybody know something about developing roms and mods for brilliant tablet carrefour ct704 wich is equipped with a processor A9 cortex of 800 Mhz, 512 Ram and 3d core, capacitive ?.... i'm wondering that...i have searched all the forums and google it ...but in vain...please, if anybody know something about that let me know...or even we can open a new thread forum for owners of tablet carrefour ct 704....hope i will get any advice or answer...thanks in advance to anyone willing to help!

It happens that I own this tablet and maybe somebody will find this useful...
You can find this device under many names, like Carrefour CT704 or Win Accord CT 704, so this means it's built by some other OEM manufacturer under a dozen or so brand names. I haven't tracked the original manufacturer yet so I can't say more about this.
It's hardware and software aren't impresive but they do their job well. Here are they:
Screen: 7 inch, 800x600 capacitive multitouch touchscreen
Processor: 800MHz ARM Cortex A9 with 3D Core
RAM: 512MB
Internal Storage: 2 GB
OS: Android 2.2.1 Froyo
MicroSD slot that accepts cards up to 32GB (I use a 8GB one and it works well)
It's equiped with a accelerometer, mic, stereo speakers and Wifi. On the box it sais that it's capable of 1080p HD video playback (I haven't tested this yet)
One thing you must know is that the usual Google apps (like market, docs, maps) are not included, they prefered to use Getjar instead. You have to install the Google apps yourself (Took me about a day to do this since I'm a noob but the whole process takes only 20 seconds).
I found both the original ROM image and the Google Apps update but the forum doesn't allow me to post links...so if anyone needs them I'll pm the links to both files.

Toshiba AC100

Hello, I am the owner of one of these smartbooks made by Toshiba. This MID have same hardware configuration as Folio except the touchscreen. The software is Android 2.1. Can someone cook a ROM with Android 2.2 (or 2.3) with flash support for this device ? Also I need a driver for USB 3G modem ZTE MF110. Thank you
quick answer is no - it's not trivial. A few people have tried and given up. (but not spent much time on it I think).
Moved to general as not android development
Which advantages should 2.2 have? Flash?
I like the AC100 as it is, but if you want a real desktop OS and don't care about warranty (as you obviously do when you speek of a new image), I would try one of the many pages on putting Ubuntu on the device. As newbie, I am not allowed to set links, but "hacking the AC100" or "Ubuntu AC100" will get you many answers.
From my perspective, it's not about 2.2 only, but also to further tweak Android for the device as there are still some flaws on the AC100.
yep, i just tried to get ubuntu running on my folio 100, but touchscreen support is still broken.
i'm not much a fun of ubuntu, now trying to boot GNU/Debian Squeeze on it.
as a desktop alternative, ac100 is even a better platform for desktop linux distributions.
GNU/Debian armel now targets some NAS devices, but I believe arm notepads will become mainstream platforms in one or two years

I validate, some problems with flash, but works with youtube.
W8 for updates...
It seems they have similar issues on the netbook version in that the new update has a new bootloader which refuses to run the old kernel (or the ubuntu kernel).
Android Market Query?
Hi, I'm new to the forum and the AC100. I have ordered an AC100-10D. This my be a really stupid question but...
I understand that without mods the AC100 can't access Android Market. Could I download the apps onto my PC and then transfer to AC100? By this I mean are the Android Market apps special or is it that the AC100 just can't access this particular site.
Thanks
Waverley57
Probably yes....
@Waverley57 - so far this method does seem to work on our Tosh AC100-10U
A guy with an Android Market account provided a couple of random .APK app files that I transferred to an SD card - they installed OK. Not certain now which ones they were.
This does *not* guarantee that all files will do the same!
Much of the Tosh & Camangi Market stuff is for tiny portrait screens - which is why Google is unhappy about us using AM for our AC100s and Folio 100s. We end up installing and then removing a fair number of apps for this reason.
Official sources of Apps
Toshiba Market Place arrived with the (Tosh Service Centre) upgrade to Froyo (2.2), but it has borked itself twice - the first time it was fixed by:-
Backup-> Factory Data Reset-> Restore
I then had to create a new account on the market.
.... but the second time it borked in a new and interesting mode. Long story short, it won't log me in, or create a new account, so Toshiba are trying to help. Nice guys, one of them had even used an AC100.
<sigh>
Camangi Market is pretty sparse, but they do seem to be making more effort lately.
If you like logic games, Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzles are now on Toshiba Market Place, and work fine on our AC100s.
This blog post on More/Better Internal Storage (which refers to fitting SD mini-PCIe USB Adapters) was recently brought to my attention. It may be of some interest here.
something new on Toshiba AC100?

Infinite Boot Loop
Hey everyone,
I got an A9000 phone a month ago, and since then, I slowly emerged into the Android community. Right now I have a problem:
I get the infinite boot loop after modifying services.jar and framework-res.apk. Another problem I have is that i cannot select anything in the system restore settings. Any cure for this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi ! I think it's too new and it's not popular to have custom roms, if you use W700 instead w808, you will get custom roms ^^ sorry for my bad english. About google play store, i have no idea but you can use Tegra zone to install app and games for Tegra 2
Xie Xie John (sorry my Chinese is very bad )
Unfortunately installing Tegrazone application still use Google Play (crashing on my phone) and it seems that Chinese based phones are either consider non compatible or get a "This item cannot be installed in your device's country". Apparently somebody is working on a ROM at bbs.mumayi. com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=408006 but my Chinese is not good, so I will have to work hard on it... Any help welcome
got something
Hi Joe,
I bought the same stuff 2 days ago in a shop in Guangzhou and I got a cool chinese guy to install something that kind of works.
It is not quite clean and I am struggling to get quite a few things straight (the keyboard he installed is from "Baidu" a sort of search engine super popular in China and I am 300% sure it logs every stroke to update their databases with email addresses and passwords, the contact system does not allow me to see/edit the group for my contacts, etc.), but the google play thing works kind of ok.
If you want I can try to get something better from him and share.
Please specify better what exactly you have and what you need.

[Q] Resetting Firmware on chinese Network Media Player

Hi, guys!
Please don't lynch me for being a noob, I have used search button and I have looked in the threads the forum offered when I wrote in the title, and still found nothing that'll help me.
I recently bought a generic media streamer from DX.com (SKU 112201).
It's compact, light and runs Android 2.2 on a 1GHz CPU, 256MB RAM and 2GB flash memory (though if I looked in the right place there are only about 200MB of storage space).
The little box is not only full of magic but also many chinese apps (some of which open up the same interface) that I have no use for, not to mention the whole OS is chinese/engrish with errors popping up every minute.
The streamer runs slow and often hangs and I can't for some reason find certain apps in the Play Store when they're on the top of the list on other devices (probably chinese censorship or something).
I can easily find a guide to reinstalling firmware on my htc sensation xe, but I got nothing on this device.
My question to you is: does anyone know how to install a clean-no-third-party-apps Android 2.2 on a streamer or knows where I can get the guide?
Also, do you think I should even bother getting this thing working at its optimal capacity given its specs?
Thanks in advance and again sorry for my noob!
Ok, nevermind rewriting the thing, I figured out it's just a weak mainboard that looks like it was taken from a phone and (poorly) molded into a Media Player interface. The programs that bug me I can remove or disable, all I have to do is find a proper TV app that would work on this hunk-a-junk.
I still have an issue though - the device is supposed to have a 2GB internal storage memory and indeed it says "2GB" under "FLASH Memory" in the storage settings, but I have absolutely no access to it?
Can anyone please help me with this?

TV Box seems to think its a phone? Alternative ROM choices

Ok, so I am quite new to these cheap Android TV boxes, so far its doing really well. I have changed the home screen to TVLauncher and removed all the bloatware apps which came with the device.
However I am wondering if there is a better Android build I could install, one which knows I am not able to use touch at all and I am just using a remote (although one with a touchpad and keyboard on it). Most things work fine, however anything which requires touch (for scrolling etc) is a pain to use.
The box I have is; Coolead CQ9
I am unable to post the Amazon link due to being new, but a simple search should return the product
Specifications:
OS: Android 5.1
CPU :Amlogic S905 Quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 up to 2GHz
GPU: Penta-Core [email protected]+
FLASH: 8GB NAND FLASH
SDRAM: 1GB DDR3
Does anyone have any suggestions to modding the boxes version of Android to make it all work a little nicer, or if possible an alternative version of Android which will work on this box? I believe the parts inside the box are basically the same as the thousands of other boxes going by different names which seem to be identical.. So I guess this means the hardware itself is rather generic.
If the answer is a simple no, I am tempted to build my own to see if I had more freedom with it? Ideally I would want to build a box capable of running Android rather than Linux, so I have more options of Apps.
Install opengapps tvstock gapps.
