I am looking for a Smartphone with a particular form factor, the form factor is shared by the P3600, the Aria & the HD Mini. I have the 3600 but it is time to upgrade
I’ll be honest I’d rather get a HD Mini than an Aria, but I want to stick with Tel$tra and Next G is on 850 Mhtz,
So Aria it is.
Now looking at the ups and downs of this proposition it looks like it will do everything I want out of the box (Give or take a bit) the only concern is the ability to run apps from the SD which doesn’t appear to be available until upgrading to 2.2.
If I want the phone unlocked and free to do as I say, I obviously can’t go downloading a carrier specific Rom, so need either a factory default or Home baked number.
So… What Android 2.2 ROM is available that is as close to the Unlocked factory default as possible? Or can you download the Unlocked Factory Default from HTC direct (I have tried and failed)
You're looking for gene Poole's liberated 2.2.2 or attn1 fr008.

You want Gene Poole's Liberated 2.2.2
Also, how and where are you getting your phone?
Most of us (it seems) in this forum got our phones when they were running 2.1 and we were able to easily root them with unrevoked. People who have gotten the Gratia or warranty replacements recently with the official 2.2 system in place have not been able to root.

Thanks for that mtnlion. I thought this was my last hurdle but then I considered the implications of syncing outlook contacts and calendars… It appears that you need a third part application to do that. FFS why can’t someone port WM6.5 to the Aria HW? It would make life so much easier.
Is it time for me to start learning to cook ROMs?
Thanks for the update stoneship. So it isn’t all as easy as it seems on the surface. SOD…
Maybe I just have to cross my fingers and hope that HTC keeps supporting the small form factor and wait for there next round of releases, and hope something fits.
I haven't used it in quite awhile but I'm pretty sure the HTC sync software will sync outlook and calendar when you plug in your phone.and there are apps on the market also.

Thanks again mtnlion, but this still leaves me with the issue highlighted by stone ship that some systems won’t let you root break them and put on non official ROM images. The Aria as a solution is so close I can taste it… But I am just not confident it is going to be without issues.
Ahhh Screw it… I have bought one… How much trouble can it be???
Well... after rereading your post it seems that you may not be aware of this.
The phone you purchased will most likely (if new) come with software preinstalled from the factory that will prohibit you from rooting it via software methods.
You will need to send the phone to someone else to downgrade it for you. Then you can root it and install the software above.
Hope that made sense, I'm running on fumes... :-/

Cross your fingers that you got one with 2.1 on it so you can root it easily. If not I can point you to someone who can s-off it for you.
The Aria is a great little phone and once you get things sorted out I think you will find you can do what you need with it. Syncing outlook contacts and calendars should not be an issue either through activesync or HTC sync regardless of official or cooked rom.
You say Active sync or HTC sync??? Does that mean that M$ Active sync can sync with an Android device? That would be weird.
The device is advertised as unlocked and 2.1 As long as it is unlocked then I am good even if it is 2.2 I don’t expect to need it rooted in the immediate term, though I do expect I am going to have to hack around a little to get the Audio on my Cardo Scala headset sorted (it doesn’t support A2DP) so I may be eating those words in short order.
Though in the words of the great tosser Jeremy Clarkson… “How Hard can it be?”
Seeing I am asking these questions I may as well outline the Bluetooth issue I have and see if any one can shed any light on the Android solution.
As I said in my previous post my Bluetooth headset doesn’t support A2DP, so to get music playing on it (or get GPS spoken directions) I need to perform a couple of hacks
The first one is to combine the stereo channels so on my Windows mobile I do this by applying the following to the registry.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings]
"UseJointStereo"=dword:00000001
The second (And more important) is to change the Bluetooth channel behavior which is done by making the voice command attribute do nothing (remove the path of the executable) and keeping the channel open for an indefinite amount of time (VoiceCmdDuration being a large number)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand]
"LaunchApEnable"=dWord:1
"VoiceCmdDuration"=dWord:15180
So… In Android, what files do I need to tweak, and how do I need to tweak them to achieve the same results?
Thanks
Well I now have my aria in my greasy little hands, and for better or worse… It has 2.2 loaded.
Starting to sort my way through the maze of setup now…
Patience.

The Limitations of Android are really annoying. (Unrooted)
I can’t Leave the device Synchronizing and also copy files back and forth (I Can in WM5)
I can’t copy files directly to the device only to the SD Card (I Can in WM5)
I can’t access the SD card from the device while I am accessing it from the PC (I Can in WM5)
I can’t edit configuration files to alter how it interacts with things such as Bluetooth (I Can in WM5)
I can’t store resources such as ringtones on the device, only on the SD card (I Can in WM5)
I can’t control the phone from my desktop computer such as MyMobiler (I Can in WM5)
And these are just the limitations I have found in 3 days when comparing it to a 6 year old Operating system.
And because it came pre installed with 2.2 I can’t root it…
It really appears that if it isn’t rooted it is pretty F#$ked.
Android is not really designed to be synchronized over USB. Yes, you can do it, and HTC makes a program for it specifically, but I suggest abandoning that habit and getting used to wireless syncing instead. The only reason I ever connect my phone to a computer is to copy a file, and even then I sometimes choose to do it with Dropbox instead, or send the link to the phone through ChromeToPhone.
Even if you don't want to use Google Calendar/Contacts as your primary calendar/contacts manager, you should be able to set up Outlook on your computer to synchronize with them. I don't personally use Outlook so I can't say what the best method for doing this is, but perhaps someone else can chime in with a suggestion.
As for the SD card, I don't think there is really any significant disadvantage to storing files on the SD card. Assuming you just leave your SD card in the phone, what's the difference? Some Android phones do have internal memory you can use for copying files to though.
As for the bluetooth issue, yes, that sucks. Good luck finding a solution for that if one exists.
Well An Update…
My Blutooth issues are managed by this app
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bedoig.BTmono_Donate&feature=search_result
It is O.K. But does have a nasty habit of rebooting the device if you don’t shut it down properly before disconnecting the bluetooth connection.
It still doesn’t allow me to initiate actions from the headset other than picking up calls, but at the end of the day this is all I require.
After my torrent of negatives I have found a few starters for what Android is doing better…
When you mount the SD card to the computer it is fully available, you can read & edit files not just copy to and from (I Can’t in WM5)
Once you throw a file manager on the device it browses UNC paths well
Though It does appear I am getting some really weird $hit happening with my Outlook calendars.
And I have noted that I can’t have different screen timeout behavior dependent on weather it is plugged in or not.
If I could have the best of WM, and the best of Droid, I would be a happy little camper.
Hi,
this is my first post so don't kill me if I do anythong wrong
The main reason I bought the Archos 101 was to read and annotate pdf files as I have to read about 400 pages per week for my study. After a short research I found out that everybody dealing with the subjekt recommends ezReader.
Unfortunatly my device (with UrukDroid 1.5 on internl disk) keeps freezing sometimes when I turn pages. With sometimes I mean today it didn't happen for 3 hour of reading and then it I couldn't turn a single page without having to reboot due to a toal freeze. The purchase of the 101 became pretty sensless by this fact also I have to admit that the tablet has many advantages that I wouldn't miss. And I love it!
As i see it there are 3 ways of dealing with the problem:
1. It's the fault of the device because it has not enough RAM for reading large PDF files with text in backround and JPEGs of the scan beeing displayed: Buy another Tablet (I don't want this and I don't have the dough)
2.ezReader has a lot of functions but it's crap anyway because it's not stable: Buy another app for annotating (As I coudn't find anything on the internet about this problem and nothing about a comparable app this seems
3. It has to do with UrukDroid: No idea. I don't get crashes on any other app and I tried diffrent things in UrukConfig like turning of CPUgovenor and making swap files and swappiness first larger then smaler.
So as you see I really need your help. thx
Alright,
I just found out that to freezing correlates with the size of the file and the number of annotations made. So I suggest again that it's a problem of RAM. Anybody who ever printed a pdf with 60+ pages has maybe recognized that there are often sent 200-500mb to the printer also the file itself has only 2-5mb.
But why is the device freezing? There must be other apps with exploding RAM use there has to be some "mechanism" in the kernel to prevent crashing just because of full RAM, or not?
my laptop is an Intel Atom N455 1.6GHz with 2GB of RAM and 256MB of video, remix 2.0 was super slow but now the version 3.0 if I worked well super fast and compatible with most applications only that no game opens me none, try to open any game however simple and a black window appears only for 3 seconds and closed.
the file browser does not have option to decompress, he needs a better performance since sometimes the system sticks a bit and antivirus 360 security is not left open in the background: / and also supports launchers, hope to resolve this quickly.
I would say that your expectations are a little exaggerated, you didn't bought your laptop with RemixOS out of the box.So there is no reason to aspect such quick fixes.
I say that remix os 3.0 is not a total disappoitment... actually works very well if it's installed corectlly. Sure it has some bugs/issues in your case video card in my case was wireless card...for me was enough to write 3 words in a sistem file and I fixed that issue.Off course I know it what was wrong with my wireless because I had same problem in other linux distributions...
antivirus 360 security ! jesus! just install a simple firewall and you're good to go! this is not windows )
"file browser does not have option to decompress" who cares?? just install another file manager there are literally hundreds on google play.
Yes it does support other launchers. I'm using ADW Launcher right now.
I recomand you to start searching google about your issue and most important to use the right words to describe you problems. For example, obviosly you have a video issue but you didn't mentioned what type of video card you have....maybe...just maybe someone from this forum can help you to resolve your problem...but only if you want.
Please try again: what video card you have? how you installed remix os? which type of partition you used?have any other info about your problem?
Wellcome to xda forums.
Dude, get your English together - basic bonehead English
I am thinking you are a teenager or perhaps younger from the way you structure your sentences. Secondly, how can you be disappointed when this is a new beta version? Be happy that there are individuals working hard for a free OS which beats the pants out of most OSes. Have you ever tried coding?
Did you consider the op might speak English as a second language or typed it on a small screen or maybe even dyslexic?
Hey, so I posted this in general, but think it may have been the wrong spot.
Anyway, I recently acquired a Will.i.am iAm+ Puls, and want to see if I can load full android on it (it's currently running a forked version of 4.1). It's an awful product, but heck figured it might be fun to try to load full android on it or even android wear and see what I can do. Problem is, it does not look like it has any USB connectivity, so would need some suggestion on how to load it on another way. If anyone knows of any way to that would be great! I'm debating trying to open up the device too (need to get a jewelers screwdriver) and see if there is some form of internal access.
If anyone could provide any guidance that would be great.
For the curious here's some specs (I assume I'd have to make custom build too?):
1.7-inch PMOLED Display
dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon
1GB RAM
16GB of storage
GSM 3G
WiFi
Bluetooth 4.0
GPS
pedometer/accelerometer (not actually sure if it has it.. isn't surfaced in UI)
Did you get anywhere with this? I have a Dial+ which I think is quite similar. They seem to have turned off the map service and Aneeda doesn't seem to do much anymore. I was hoping someone knows how to add some functionality back or even add new apps. I've contacted Iam+ support about getting some developer tools but haven't heard anything back yet.
I was able to use adb to get different apps and launchers onto it, but could never get the functionality I wanted. Screen size is too small, I think this would be best if you could get androidwear on it, but I am not sure how.
You're right, Android Wear would be awesome, the Dial+ is 4G and has 32Gb of internal storage.
If anyone is interested, on the Dial+ to get the developer options menu you first have to go to "About dial" and tap on the kernel version 7 times. After that you can go back up a level in the menu and you'll see the developer options menu is available.
Hi, my friends phone state in About phone that it is vivo 1801. Looking on the net at Vivo 1801it looks like it is the Y71i 2GB Ram 16GB Storage.
The problem is that he bought this without thinking of the limitations or asking me first and has no money to buy another one(Pandemic, no job) and he like to play mobile legends + clash ot titans - now the phone constantly comes up and say Insufficient storage.
I have removed what I can without root, but its still not enough, right now there is only 11% free. I have disabled SHAREit and V-apstore from Autoupdating apps(playstore too), and removed some strange non-official messenger that V-appstore installed. I moved all his photos and videos to his 16GB SDcard. I checked all folders in filemanager and there is nothing big left except for mobile legends which takes up almost 3GB and Clash of Titans which takes 1.6GB.
This phone comes with touchpal custom keyboard which install all language packs for Asia, afrika and arabia(stupid) and you can't remove them, I have cleared cache and data for the ones he don't use, but still not enough space.
My questions are:
1. Which bloatware apps(list) can be safely removed and how to do it? (Not touchpal as it will send the phone into bootloop according to many places on the net - but it would be nice to remove the useless language packs).
2. How to move the games and other apps to SDcard - I can't find a logical way to do that, not even with iManager as many videos on youtube suggest.
My laptop is Thinkpad X300 with Xubuntu Linux 16.04 64bit USB 2.0, I have full ADB and universal drivers installed, just need a guide.
Remember this is Y71i, what works for other models might not work for this one.
Thank you in advance
Jan
Admin Vivo Y71i does not exist, if this is not the right place to post, could you please move the post to the correct section - thank you
BTW. Chosing Vivo from the device list in the Devices sends you to VIVO Posts on XDA, clicking Vivo forums gives and error screen:
