I've have the same basic problem with P3's Pre-Rooted 2.3.3 all along and I'd love to fix it (especially since it's supposed to work in DX2's stock 2.3.3). It's never worked for me (I always got a black screen (no input recognized) when plugged into HDTV since the Gingerbread update). I later enabled portrait mode only by editing the build.prop line "ro.hdmi.mirror.enable=TRUE" (where it was false). As is well-known though, this DOES NOT allow landscape (the picture is sideways on the HDTV when phone is physically in landscape or playing video). I've read this exact case occurring with several 2.3.3 DX2's (as I've done copious amounts of searching on the topic) but I've never found a resolution. Is there any chance there is a known way to fix this? I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks very much in advance!
if you freeze portalstandalone.apk, then your hdmi out will not work. check to see if your portalstandalone.apk is unfrozen.
my hdmi works fine on my dx2 running p3's rooted gb. the difference in hdmi between p3's rooted gb and froyo stock is that the froyo stock is always in landscape mode but w/ the homescreen sideways. the gb version shows your homescreens in portrait mode w/ the bars on the right and left but when you use an app that calls for true landscape mode like angry birds or netflix, the hdmi correctly will show in landscape.
Thanks very much for the response. Portalstandalone.apk is indeed unfrozen (checked that sometime back). This is so weird and it driving me nuts that I can't fix it (I've got everything else tweaked perfectly thanks to our Wonderful, Amazing Devs). Well, I can confirm that I get the portrait homescreen displaying on the TV but that's it. If I rotate while in the homescreen, I get the DX2's landscape mode displayed sideways (on its' end). By the way, I'm using LauncherPro (this why I can rotate the phone and get into landscape while still in a homescreen). When I launch any app that should take it to landscape on the TV (as you mention), I still get that landscape image displayed sideways on my TV (Froyo did not did this). What's even more troubling is that the audio is not transferred to the TV either (it just plays from the phone). So, I end up with a sideways image on my TV with the audio still coming out of the phone speaker. Bizarre and very frustrating! If you've got any further ideas, please do let me know (thanks). If anybody has any ideas, please post. I'm not a noob here or shy with my modding, so please don't by shy in terms of technical solutions. Thanks very much.

I have asked this question over on Archosfans.com too but have not received an answer. I have an archos 101 and use an apple keyboard. Ever since 2.2 the directional keys are not working right. If I push down it goes right and if I push up it goes left. And the right and left keys are also backwards. I am just trying to figure out if this is everyone elses experience.
Now the silly part is that if I turn the screen to vertical then it is right. I am trying to figure out if reinstalling the aos will help resolve this issue.
Is this unique?
this happens on my 70 with my bluetooth keyboard
even under 2.1, the direction keys were off. they seemed to be oriented then to the archos name. When tablet was horizontal, regular it worked, when it was upside down (better viewing angle for some things) they were backward. maybe the switch is set based on vertical now.
I have noticed that some web pages work better in portrait, too. My gmail through web wont scroll in landscape, fine in portrait. Cool that google docs works in browser, though.
use a mifi !

Hello all.
Not much of a poster but i would like to see if i can get some help with my phone.
I've had it rooted and running Trigger for a couple months now......but recently i came into a problem. The phone will go into landscape mode on its own and sticks there.
It wont rotate back no matter what i do.
Yes i've tried toggling the auto-rotate settings but it still wont rotate back.
The only way i can get it to go back to vertical is by reflashing the rom, but it doesn't take long before it goes back. I've also tried flashing other roms but same problem.
It's really starting to get frustrating and i don't know what to do. Any thoughts?
Have you tried re-calibrating? Go to Settings>Display>Horizontal Calibration and let it do its thing. I ran into this with trigger and later, project v.
You mean anytime in landscape mode it locks that way? Like when using the camera or watching a movie? Or it only locks when using landscape on the home screens?
that sounds like a hardware problem to me but maybe if i knew more about what your doing i could say otherwise. there are sensors inside your phone that tell it when it is sideways, upside down, rightside up. not that i encourage this but...... have you tried bumping it off of a table to see if it flips back? maybe the sensors are acting up???
When I got my Laptop Dock I was using CM7 pre-beta 4. Just to see what (if anything) would come up, I plugged my phone in. The phone display showed on the Laptop Dock screen: Landscape and incorrectly rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise and quite small (not filling the screen vertically or horizontally). The track pad worked.
Might there be a way to rotate and alter the resolution of the HDMI output for "simply" using the laptop dock as an Android interface? (To be thorough with the [Q], what possible solutions are there?)
what happened was HDMI mirroring, which doesn't work in landscape mode (sideways like you're asking)
top men are working on it, just be patient
Understood. I suppose I should have made the connection. Thank you for the reply, I will patiently await the solution of these top men.
Hello guys, I got this new unit and I already tried to calibrate/ check auto rotate option in settings.
Should my home screen rotate while i move my phone horizontally and/or vertically.
My icons are always in vertical mode.
If i go to gallery and choose picture i taken with the cell it rotates fine.
But if I go into internet browser ( the default one ) it takes like 4-5 tries shakes and moves my phone so it finally works <== this also seems odd shouldn't this works like faster or on first try ????
//Edit: needless to say , factory stock on everything nothing installed apart from opera mini and skype.
Everything else is default out of the box.
But my main question is shouldn't home screen follow my phone movement?
no, custom roms do though, like cm7
So no home screen/icons on it will follow if I place my phone in landscape mode hmm. Also what about the locked screen ( default one ) with the clock on it. Should that move? or same like home screen its only vertical.
Also I find my sensor in apps ( any app for that matter) to be really slow or unresponsive :S You need to move your phone in all directions like good 40-50secs or even more for it to switch into landscape mode :S
If anyone cares I re-calibrated the sensor but this time NOT on flat surface but in my hand the best I can and matched my movements so I works the best like im holding it in every day use.
Fixed my slow-ness or non-responsiveness about landscape / vertical switching.
=)
Android OS newbie (coming from a WM 6.5).....
Hopefully this will be a simple, straight out answer / solution. I have done research online through many forums and all the answers I find are associated to phones with a physical slide-out keyboard and related to the status of the keyboard being opened or closed.
On the Motorola Droid Razr, by default, are any of the (5) home screens supposed to auto-rotate when flipped horizontally or should it rotate only after you have entered into an app?
I'd swear it would rotate when I first got the Razr (before I started messing with the apps) but I honestly can't say for sure......and I really don't want to hard reset the phone just to find out.
Thanks for any input,
Brian
It should auto rotate on any screen.
Mine never rotated until I put go launcher ex on it.

If that's the case would rooting the phone have any affect with the home screen(s) not auto-rotating? Rooting the phone was one of the first things I did to it.
I basically made a pact with myself, coming from my HTC Touch Pro 2, that with this new Razr I wasn't going to bog it down with too many apps; just the ones I needed to operate efficiently. If in fact the home screens are supposed to auto-rotate then I really don't want to add an app to make the phone do something it should be doing by default.
Anything I should be looking at? What happens if I decide to hard reset the phone, start from scratch, and it makes no difference?
Thanks
So last night I decided to take the phone back to factory settings and the home screen(s) do not auto rotate. Based on the two earlier replies I was given two different answers. Am I missing something?
As an example - If I were to get one of the Motorola Razr docking stations, which holds the phone in landscape format, is that to say the phone would always display the home screen in portrait format, in relation to the phone, and would only switch to landscape only if I were to open an app? For instance, that would mean the home screen which displays the contacts favorites thumbnails, the pics would always be sitting sideways. That just doesn't seem normal.
Still curious.....
Mine has never rotated while on the home screen, however the app drawer always does when auto rotate is enabled. Every app that rotates works perfectly as well. This has always been my experience on every android I've had (eris, incredible, fascinate, droid x2) when using the stock launcher.
