I love the music player on my Photon, especially the podcast section. I recently unlocked and flashed homebase rom and after doing so, whenever i go to the podcast tab on my music player it gives me a message saying data connection not available. i also tried the internet radio tab as well and it says the same thing. i can get on websites with the browser just fine, it just seems that my music player has lost connectivity. any ideas on what may be the cause of this?

I currently use MakeMKV to rip my DVDs and Blu-Rays to my media server, this works great with XBMC.
I have been able to stream these files to the tablet with fairly good success.
However, if I want to take the files with me, I encode them to MP4s using the iPad profile in Handbrake. This seems to work quite well, but some scenes stutter when there is fast movement.
Anyone have a preferred profile for the Tablet to keep as good a quality as possible?
I used h.b too and it work perfctly on my tablet s no problem at all. My pc is at my uncle house if can send me the profile names I can tell u what I used. Or if u wait till tomorrow ill pass it to u.

Its high profile under regular. And check the large file size nothing more unless u want to add some audio.. working perfctly on apple tv,. Xperia arc , tablet s and samsung gs2.

Again keep forgetting, with the profile I use ur problem will be solved I faced the same problem too so I kept trying like for aweek till I got it right.
Thanks mate.
I decided to re-encode my whole library of mkv dvd rips to the high profile mp4 setting to save space on my media pc too(hard drive prices are silly at the mo).
They are playing well on my tablet too
I am using the handbrake batch encoder to do a folder at a time.
I will leave my blu-ray rips as mkvs though, I just wont be able to play them on my tablet for the time being.

Plz i just tried BD encoding with HB but it stuck in 10 out of 89 and never move on, do u use other software or it really take time !! thnxxxxx
I really struggled with blu-ray encoding with HB. They always played back badly (stuttering, lip sync issues etc) on my PC. So I stuck to just ripping them as MKV files (MakeMKV) this also keeps the HD audio formats
i used anydvd HD to ripp the HD to make it m4v = mp4 with dolby
thnx
Is there any way to save a playlist to my SD card or something so that it doesn't get erased every time I flash a new rom/rom update? I use the new music version, mainly offline music. My online Google Music playlist save, obviously. But it's annoying having to remake my offline playlists every couple weeks. Thanks guys!
Uh.. What music player are you using? Does it not save your playlists as an M3U or PLS file or something?
---------- Post added at 07:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:25 PM ----------
Just tried something - I put an M3U playlist on my phone, and the music player picked it up immediately. On CM9 ICS. You can make M3U playlists on your computer and just transfer them on over with the music files.
I'm using Music 4.1. So far every time I have flashed a new rom, my playlists have erased. I have been on CM9 ICS the past few days. I made a playlist the other night on my atrix and I updated to the latest beta today and its's gone. I looked at m3u playlists, do I have to type all of the filenames in a .txt file? It seems like there should be an easier way.
Did a quick google search and this may be worth a look in to Playlist Maker for Android
ok i give up. How can I change the default player to the mx player app??? I have tried for an hour looking for some way.......
You mean so when you open videos it will open mx? It sounds like the stock video player is set as default. Go to settings, find the stock video player in app management (I forget the exact settings) and clear defaults.
ya thats the problem... you cant find the stock player in app management.
Use Titanium backup maybe? Wipe data. Dunno if theres a clear default option.

Or just uninstall the stock player via titanium backup.

Make sure you're looking at all apps, not just downloaded. I think there are separate tabs.
Yep. Looked everywhere...
someone must know the answer to this
?????
I can use Root Explorer, nagivate to a video file, long press it and then selet the Apps tab, check the "Always perform ths elected action for this type of file" and then select MX PLayer. This should set the default for the specific file type.
i have a problem with my mp3-player app.
it is not possible for me to show the songs by genre. i also can not add genre information in the built in song editor.
can anyone help me? please!
Did you mean stock mp3 player ? The best way to edit your mp3s is by using windows pc.. But in play store there is an app call Itag.. You can edit whatever info for your mp3s including album art.. But, as i said, the best way to edit your mp3s is by using windows pc. You may get the genre, album art etc corrently, but once you transfer your mp3s to any devices, (aka bluetooth) the mp3 player on that device wont recognize whatever info inside that mp3. So, to get the info stay on your mp3 player, use windows pc.
If you download your mp3 direct form your cell, and you plan to let em stay on your cell, use itag to add info for your mp3
If you transfer your mp3 from your pc to your cell, better edit em before transfer to your cell to avoid your mp3 player wont recognize the info inside your mp3
thank you for your response!
the problem is that i have added all genre information into the id3-tags on windows. when i transfer the songs by mtp to my cell, the tags stay, but the stock mp3 player wont show all of them (he shows only title, artist, cover and year). and so there is no genre view of the songs ...

Did you try to add info using windows media player, winamp or maybe real player.

I just take a look at stock mp3 player.. Didnt mention any about genreoOr do i missing something here. But on stock mp3 player(my music), tab right menu in your cell and tab download music info maybe that would help.

Guess the stock mp3 player are design no to show genre seem i cant fine any. 3rd party app should do the job.
i think you are right but the stock one is beautiful! i wanted to keep it.
Yup.. Stock kinda beautiful, but in play store there in a tons of beautiful mp3 player. My 2nd option after stock isuber music, out dated mp3player but still among the best looking player.. Just give it a try
My new Galaxy s3 can't play .WAV audio files regardless of the music player app I use. All my previous Android phones (including previous Galaxy models) had no problem with .wav files. Is this an ICS issue, or a Galaxy s3 issue, and does anyone know if there's a solution? I'm simply trying to set up a .wav file as a notification for one of my Gmail labels.
I copied some wav files to my phone dir...the first thing I noticed was that Windows wanted to covert them to wma files...I did not allow that. Then I used ES File Explorer and opened up a wav file with Sound player and also Google Play Music...no problem with either.
---------- Post added at 06:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:42 PM ----------
Ah, then I tried to set the wav as my Google Mail "ringtone" and it did not appear. Used Ringdroid and made it a notification and then I could select it.
