Is there any way to save a playlist to my SD card or something so that it doesn't get erased every time I flash a new rom/rom update? I use the new music version, mainly offline music. My online Google Music playlist save, obviously. But it's annoying having to remake my offline playlists every couple weeks. Thanks guys!
Uh.. What music player are you using? Does it not save your playlists as an M3U or PLS file or something?

Just tried something - I put an M3U playlist on my phone, and the music player picked it up immediately. On CM9 ICS. You can make M3U playlists on your computer and just transfer them on over with the music files.
I'm using Music 4.1. So far every time I have flashed a new rom, my playlists have erased. I have been on CM9 ICS the past few days. I made a playlist the other night on my atrix and I updated to the latest beta today and its's gone. I looked at m3u playlists, do I have to type all of the filenames in a .txt file? It seems like there should be an easier way.
Did a quick google search and this may be worth a look in to Playlist Maker for Android

Hello, guys!
How do you make an alphabetic playlist on your music player? Because the in build player of the Mini makes a complete mess from the files. No alphabetic order. I like to store all my music files in 1 single folder from where to play them. And I didn't have such problem with my previous SE java based phones.
Recently I read a topic on the net, to use Astro File manager to create a playlist, but there are a few files, that remain unordered every time. They go at the end of the playlist although their names have "a" or "b" or "c" at the beginning. So what player do you use, guys?
And one more question - is there any nice player, that has an equalizer and is able to do proper playlists?
Thanks for help in advance!
Anybody know the music playlist file stored?
It is very time consuming to rearrange the song order for more than 100 song. I want to see whether I can edit it by computer.
thanks
Why don't you just make an m3u file using iTunes/Songbird/WinAmp/WindowsMediaPlayer. I think the music player can read the file if you add that to your music folder.
Does M3U supported by Stock ROM
I tried to use MyPlaylist App to create a m3u. However, it seems the Samsung I9100 stock Music Player doesn't support m3u playlist format.
Any idea?
Then use MP3tag (google it, it's on a German site, but it's in English) on your pc to sort the tracks and add track-numbers to the ID3 tag. The music player will recognize them in this order.
All this hassle is why you should try a different music player
i have a problem with my mp3-player app.
it is not possible for me to show the songs by genre. i also can not add genre information in the built in song editor.
can anyone help me? please!
Did you mean stock mp3 player ? The best way to edit your mp3s is by using windows pc.. But in play store there is an app call Itag.. You can edit whatever info for your mp3s including album art.. But, as i said, the best way to edit your mp3s is by using windows pc. You may get the genre, album art etc corrently, but once you transfer your mp3s to any devices, (aka bluetooth) the mp3 player on that device wont recognize whatever info inside that mp3. So, to get the info stay on your mp3 player, use windows pc.
If you download your mp3 direct form your cell, and you plan to let em stay on your cell, use itag to add info for your mp3
If you transfer your mp3 from your pc to your cell, better edit em before transfer to your cell to avoid your mp3 player wont recognize the info inside your mp3
thank you for your response!
the problem is that i have added all genre information into the id3-tags on windows. when i transfer the songs by mtp to my cell, the tags stay, but the stock mp3 player wont show all of them (he shows only title, artist, cover and year). and so there is no genre view of the songs ...

yes, i've tried all of it! and the genre information is written in the with the id-3 tag! but the *** player does not show anything.
Guess the stock mp3 player are design no to show genre seem i cant fine any. 3rd party app should do the job.
i think you are right but the stock one is beautiful! i wanted to keep it.
Yup.. Stock kinda beautiful, but in play store there in a tons of beautiful mp3 player. My 2nd option after stock isuber music, out dated mp3player but still among the best looking player.. Just give it a try
Tired of having to recreate them after flashing new ROMs. I tried backing up the Music app in Titanium and then restoring the data to a new ROM but that didn't seem to work.
Don't know, but I'm with you on this. I lost my playlist 3 weeks ago, and won't recreat it on my phone sd. It's pointless, b/c I always loose it. I have it on my pc, & I sync with my Amazon Cloud. I access it from there. The only downside is I need an internet connection, but until I hear of a better solution, its what I'm sticking with.

it seems that playlist handling is kinda wonky on the stock Music app. I have a playlist that I sync from my computer using DoubleTwist, and the Music app only sees the first version of the playlist, it never displays the updated versions of it.
only workaround that's worked for me is using another player, even though I'd prefer using the stock one...
Poweramp Music Player in the market allows backup of playlist files to the SD card. This is a huge missing feature from the stock Music players that I thought would have long been overcome by now. Poweramp is $5, but it will be the best $5 you have ever spent if you flash a lot of ROMs!
I downloaded the trial, and imported the playlist to Poweramp from system. Then I deleted the playlist from stock Music app. Exported playlist from Poweramp and rebooted and it didn't show up in the stock music app. So then I moved the .m3u8 playlist file to /sdcard/Music and the stock music app saw the playlist but it was empty. Did I do something wrong?

question about music player wanted to know that is it possible to make playlist in computer add song on that play list like in windows media player or itunes and just place that playlist on s2 . now i have put song in phone then make playlist in music player its annoying is there any to make or place the playlists i have on my system to my galaxy s2. like iphone
Yep, you can make playlists with WMP (or other apps like MediaMonkey) on PC & transfer to the phone, provided the app you're using for music on the phone supports the format of the playlist. Most should support WMP playlists I would have thought.
I know this works with Neutron (or it did the last time I used it in October before it had native playlist capabilities, which the dev has introduced since); don't know about other apps like stock music player, never used them (because stock player is rubbish anyway). Try it & see if you're using another app; make a small playlist in Windoze (say 4-5 songs so you don't waste ages making one only to have it not work on the phone) & test it out with the music app you're using. If WMP playlists don't work, try MediaMonkey or another PC based music app.
