Polaris Office - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I just wanted to know whether it's possible to access one's google docs account through Polaris Office. When I go to the Web files tab I can only add my box.net account. There isn't a google docs option, I went through all the settings and found nothing. I clearly remember reading in reviews that Polaris Office can access one's Google docs.
I use Polaris 3.0 build 3091ZD, the one that came on my phone.

Guess not, since you can only add box account. Box account doesn't work either for me, although it works fine with other office apps.

Can the hereo do these things?

Hi all,
I'm in the nice position of having managed to cancel my orange contract early for free ( T+C changes) and can now take out a spanking new contract.
The hero is top of the list as I can't be waiting for the X3 to emerge.
I currently have a Touch HD/Blackstone.
The HD can do all I want it to, I use it mainly for business, so the question is this:
Can the hero sync my outlook calender ok(it is linked to my google account as well)? Can it read adobe file ok? and Doc's? excel?
Does it recieve email ok?
Basically, can it do all I've mentioned ok?
Sorry so long winded.....
Ta
Edit: bugger, typo in title!
Basically, yes to all, although I haven't actually tried Excel.
Yes it will read Excel files, using QuickOffice - but can't write to Excel or Word docs
You can read and write Word and Excel using Documents to go.
Regards,
Dave
Outlook requires HTC Sync
Google Mail/Calendar/Contacts sync out of the box
Exchange works on the hero just fine
Mine recieves my emails before my desktop does (which is nice)
PDF's, DOC's, XLS's can be read with QuickOffice but there are tools on the market for writing to them
Don't use HTC Sync. If your outlook calendar is already linked to your google account, use that instead. HTC Sync is just atrocious.
as for the rest, yes, quick office opens them to view, but you can buy Documents-to-Go in the market which can edit them as well.

[Q] Polaris Office and Google Docs

I'm not able to find the options to configure Google Docs integration in Polaris Office. In fact, I don't see many settings at all for Polaris on the Flyer or even any option to buy another version in the market.
Looks like it's supported: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087835
Did we get a pared down version with pen input support but without other features?
Any ideas?
I'm sure it is the stripped down version. I just use the google docs app from the market.
The Polaris office can save existing documents but cannot create one. Seems very limited.
Only problem is that the Google Docs app doesn't support the pen for markup.
Sounds like us early Flyer adopters will have to wait for more apps to add pen support.
Google Docs sync
What I do not understand is that under each google account, there is an option to sync Google Documents. So I am confused why this is there if there is no place to actual view the documents themselves...
I think it's because the ink is not supported in google docs itself. I've tried uploading Word documents with ink on them to google docs, and it strips the ink out in the upload and converting process. Same with inked word documents uploaded to microsoft's skydrive and opened in online word. I'm just using dropbox to move documents for now, and keep a blank word document in my dropbox to start a new one in Polaris.
Look over here for the Polaris Office 3.0 with the Google Docs support.
Do you know if the PO 3.0 supports scribe?

It doesn't matter because we can't install this version. Or have you root access to "/system/lib/" or "/system/app"? I don't think so...

What do you mean we cannot install it? It installs just fine. Extract the zipfile, open polarisoffice.apk in app manager and choose install.
This installs just like any other non market app.
Edit: No scribe did not work, uninstalled it.

Good Alternative to Google Docs App?

Hi All,
I am playing the the TF201 that I just got for work, and am looking for alternative GUI's for editing an syncing a google docs spreadsheet on the tablet.
The google docs app is ok but the editing on it is not intuitive and sloppy.
I tried Polaris, but it doesn't sync with the current doc, just uploads it back to the server and screws up the formatting. I also tried Office Suite but can't test the editing/syncing part without purchasing it. Same with Docs to go.
My docs is just rediculous.
Anybody else have any good insight to a friendly GUI on the android tablet?
THanks!
My favorite interface has always been from Quick Office HD. I love having a full page view as opposed to the text being all the way at the top right. The only annoying thing is the lack of autosave for Gdocs.

you could also try google docs in the chrome browser. it works better than in any other browser. cheers!
Is Google Drive any better?
I don't know if you can sync, but Kingsoft office is great and free.
EDIT: It can use cloud, you can add all your cloud accounts that support Webdav protocol. For google docs, use this eservice: http://dav-pocket.appspot.com/. It enables to access Google Docs via Webdav. And it's free.
Office Suite Pro 6 allows you to sync and edit Google Docs, as well as documents on you dropbox or box account.

Collatebox the best alternative to google spreadsheets
Google docs are ok, but a better solution with online and offline editing along with mobile solutions would be Collatebox ! Do go through the trial and website as well. They seem promising.
Microsoft office app is good

How to Sync my life using my Galaxy S3?

Hey guys,
I've got a Galaxy S3 running Android 4.1.1 (CheckROM 5.5) which I'm very happy with, however I don't think I'm using it to the full of its potential. This new Google app seems to think it can sync my life, however I don't know how to use it properly.
I'm a sales rep so I'm on the road a fair bit, booking appointments, writing down notes etc. I use gmail for my personal email, however my office uses Microsoft Outlook for emails.
At the moment, I've got a notebook, in which I write down appointments (I don't want to carry a heavy diary around, as well as my notebook, camera, laser, phone, wallet etc etc), take notes, have a to-do list etc etc.
I'm just wondering if there's a way to put in appointments, as well as write notes, on my phone which somehow sync real-time to my work and home computers, and vice versa.
Also, a to-do list would be nice.
Is there a way to do all of this to simplify my life and make me more efficient? I don't mind spending money on apps if that's what is required.
Any advice or recommendations are appreciated!!
Cheers
Google
Google calendar is on phone, so set up Google on pc and phone.
Ditto Google tasks
Ditto contacts
Google drive for documents. (You can get basic office editing site and viewer of play store.
All of these have lots of settings to play with for ie. Notifications, adding locations to appointments, so linking in with navigation + maps.
You just need to dive in and explore the potential

Thanks for the advice. What about notes?
And how do I install 'Google' on my work computer? Is there a widget for my desktop or can it be sync'd with Outlook or something?
Cheers
You are able to use dropbox also, and samsung has some usefull cloud storage capabilities for contacts and sms/mms.

just type in Google to search, then log in to your account, and there it all is, likewise, for the phone you can find all the Google apps in the play store, though most of them are built into the operating system already.......avoid using the Samsung cloud facilities in my opinion they eat battery, and you will be a slave to Samsung!

Also, Google tasks is their note taking facility, which can be synched with calendar as well

For outlook sync with Google you've got an app named outlook4gmail which is very convenient http://www.scand.com/products/outlook4gmail/
Check out evernote
Evernote is great for notes. We use it in my business for job reporting. from the PC we attach a job sheet and any information the staff need on the road or onsite, the guys can then enter product used, notes etc and we have an instant permanent record that is available from any device or PC linked to the account. Also add
Springpad is similar
Dropbox is also good for documents (google drive is ok, but you can't edit office documents) then use polaris office or similar to edit office documents.
Anydo is a good todo list, very easy to add things to do and check them off (keep notes with them too).
Yes to google calendar - i don't use outlook any more. run as many calendars as you want. they all sync to the same one.
Now the only problem is escaping work.

[Q] Enabling Play Books outside US

Not so long ago Google introduced amazing addition to Play Books - uploading your own epub and pdf files through http://play.google.com/books/uploads. However, I'm not from US and my Google Account isn't either assigned to US - I have access only to Android apps. However, when Google Music was not available in Poland, I managed to enable it on my account by logging in through US VPN, have full Google Play USA experience and enter music library. After turning off VPN, whole USA experience disappeared - music, books, movies etc. However, after entering https://play.google.com/music/, everything worked like with VPN in spite of having Polish IP. Since then I have ability to upload 20 000 music files, listen to them and use Google Music app on phone to stream. No music buying function - just uploading and listening.
Now it looks like a similar situation is with Play Books - I'm looking for a way to enable just uploading epub and pdf files without ability to buy books from Play Store. After reading about it, I immediately downloaded, installed and turned on Hotspot Shield as my VPN. Checked IP - it was US one, so I logged in to Google. And surprise - no Google Play USA experience, like then. Only apps. After manually typing http://play.google.com/books/uploads there is a note: "Sorry! Books on Google Play is not available in your country yet". I tried to create new account while being connected through VPN. It worked - I was even able to download Play Books to my Nexus 7 after pairing it with my new account (it was using Hotspot Shield too). However, after turning VPN off, my new USA account lost it's full Play Store - it showed me Polish one, with apps only. What's more, after enabling VPN again, there still were no USA Play Store.
My question is: is there an ability to enable Play Books on non-US account (for example like I did with Music) or just to enter full USA Play Store on my non-US account (for example to upload some pdf or epub and then watch if it'll work). I emphasize - I don't need ability to buy anything from Store, no matter whether it's free or not. Just uploading ebooks and reading them on my phone/tablet.
P.S. I've tried Market Enabler, Market Helper and VPNs on Nexus 7 to enter Google Play USA on my Polish account - nothing worked. As far as I know, Market enablers and other tweaks doesn't longer work. Second Google account worked for a while - that's how I downloaded Books app - but now it doesn't (still, it would be rather dumb to have two accounts - one normal and second for Books).
I second this.
I'd like to upload like 3 pdf to my account to read them on the go. I'd hate to use another reader for that.
thnaks Konpon96 for asking the question. we're in same situation here . i tried the same way like you did but no luck at all . can someone help us on this . thanks
Yeah , I tried E-mailing Google Customer Service about this but they replied and said Sorry they can't do anything about it . Which I highly doubt it , they should make it international access like those other services who can provide US content without VPN
what a waste . do we need to wait ?
hi all . i able to do it by creating new gmail address and using vpn client . i able to upload a few epub file to play books
The thing I'm curious about is why I cannot enter Google Play USA by VPN on my current account - previously it was available.

Not sure but I think Google is referring to the address you have registered with your credit card on your Google Play account.

I thought about it, but then I've had my credit card attached to Google Play... but if they're now looking on that, it may be possible to connect fake-emulated USA card - there were a site to do it, but I've forgotten it's name.

My wife, who never bind her credit card on Google Play, is able to upload pdf and epub files on the Google Books Reader just using a VPN.

Sadly those domiciliated in a country where the Play Store has not been deployed yet are far from living the promised Google experience.
I'm in the same boat as OP.
And this is also true only for my personal account where I previously enabled Google Music using proxy (year or two back). On my wife's account (GMusic not enabled) I can access Google Books web site and upload stuff without problems. I already tried changing data in the Wallet but to no avail. It's something else...
Bummer
For me it worked, using a VPN (www.getusvpn.com)
As we speak, I am uploading my book collection.

It has nothing to do with the VPN provider - I can also use this provider and it does not work. It seems they have activated an additional check and the result is somewhere stored in the user profile. If I logoff and go to play.google.com, then I have everything available - as soon as I login, I'm limited to apps...
So the big question is, what information is now additionally checked...

It works until you disconnect from VPN - after that, even if you uploaded some files, Books are still unavailable. I've created new Google Account while being connected with VPN and it fully works with USA Google Play - I managed to upload some books. Unfortunately, after disconnecting from VPN, non-US Store comes back - strange, cause that account was created "in USA". It looks like Books cannot be made available like Music, just through entering their library - they disappear as soon as you disconnect from VPN. It isn't handy way to hang around with being connected through VPN all the time. :/
Same issue here. Haven't managed to find a way past them.
I've tried removing payment details from Wallet, changing country in Accounts, and of course using a VPN (Tunnelbear). Still no go.
I really think they should at least let people use Books as a reader. I don't know but I feel people might be more inclined to start purchasing from the Books store when it's available in their country if they already have a vast majority of their pdfs/epubs available on said platform. I'm able to view my library (which consists of the Nexus 7 guidebook and some random book). Maybe they could shift the upload functionality to the "My Library"page instead, which should solve the troubles with have.
Side note, I was able to access Music without a VPN. I managed to upload my collection, but am unable to buy any Music off of the store.
Yeah I wish they made it like the Music, when you register, you can access it just fine.
:/
I have the exact same problem but i notice something, i created a new account using a VPN and if I use that account i can us the whole us playstore but if i change to my regular account its gone even thought i have the VPN activated.
how do they bing my account to my country?
Here what worked for me:
1) Create a new google account.
2) Via a US VPN sign in google books and upload your books.
3) On your phone open Play Books app and sing in as your second account. Your books should appear.
Restrict your phone to sync only Google Books from the second account.
anyone has the solution yet?
I have removed all location information in my account setting (gmail, google+, wallet, etc), but no luck
really would like to make this work
