[Q] Which ROM for my CSC? No matches - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok firstly I purchased my phone from Tandomobile, so i'm assuming it's a HK handset (i'm located in Australia though).
Anyway i've had a look on both Intratech's ROM thread & also on Samfirmware.com, but cannot find a stock ROM that matches my one:
PDA: I9100XWKF3
PHONE: I9100XXKE7
CSC: I9100YOGKE1
I've found ones that match the PDA & Phone, however there is nothing remotely close to my CSC version (YOG), even google didn't turn up anything.
Which ROM would I need to use if i wanted to go back to stock?
Would using a different one cause any issues?
If i flashed with one of the Australian generic/carrier ROMS, would i then be able to send it in for a local warranty? Or can they easily tell it's not a local handset?
Thanks!

make an nandroid back up and store in a safe place, so that you can flash it back to the phone later; or
make a copy of your csc.
official stock firmware is up to KG5, I believe any one of these will work.
No, using a different one will not cause any issues.
yes, you could send it in for warranty, not really as their are different handsets depending on where and from whom you bought the handset.
The only reason they may refuse service unless you reset the custom counter.
Flashing technically void the warranty unless it is done though official means of upgrading. Kies.

[Q] Vodafone Netherlands Branded SGSII - how to remove?

Earlier in June I received a Galaxy SII that was unbranded, but I had to return it due to a little circle that seemed to be 'burned' into the screen.
Now I finally received my new Galaxy S II but to my great disappointment it's loaded with Vodafone crap, and branded:
PDA:KE5 / PHONE:KE1 / CSC:KE2 (VDF)
I want to replace the branded FW for the official non branded FW and I was wondering how to do that.. I went to this thread but i'm not quite sure which FW i'll need.. Does anyone happen to know?
Use the XEN version of XWKF3 firmware, it's for the Netherlands.
As intratech said flag stock unbranded firmware for your country
You can also try latest 2.3.4 based roms as batista 70, cognition or vilian
Search on the development section
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Thanks for the quick replies, i'm downloading the Kernel and FW now, but before I get to work with that:
how do i backup the complete kernel/fw of my phone as it is right now, in case I ever have to send it in for repairs and don't want to void my warranty?
Will I be able to update future firmwares with KIES or will i have to keep doing it manually once I install the unbranded firmware?
After flashing the XWKF3 XEN firmware on my phone instructions say i need to flash the insecure kernel before i can flash the stock XWKF3 kernel. I was wondering which Chainfire version I have to get. I think it's the KF3 one from this post but I'd like to make very sure before I start doing things.
Then after flashing the Chainfire kf3 kernel I can use Odin in the same way to flash the stock KF3 kernel, correct?
Once all this is done, will KIES recognise my phone and offer me updates when they become available or will i have to keep doing it manually?
Is it possible to backup my current FW/Kernel with Odin so that I can put those back on in case I ever need to return my phone for repairs and don't want to get any trouble with warranty?

[Q] Few questions before firmware upgrade

Hi guys,
I just bought a Galaxy S2 and I want to flash a newer firmware.
The firmware I intend to flash (XXKG1) comes with PDA, MODEM and CSC.
Is it possible to flash just it's PDA part? Would there be any implications on that?
Why would I want that? Because the original firmware (Brazil - VIVO carrier) I could find only came with the PDA part. So if I flash CSC or MODEM, there is no way back.
The CSC is different from mine. Would that be a problem?
Thanks in advance
AFAIK the CSC is installed into the system partition, so even when you only flash the PDA part you're going to loose your current CSC setup.
However, if the FW comes as seperate .tar files you can just flash the PDA one, yes.
You can take care of a "way back" if you first install CF-Root for example and then do a backup from recovery mode.
Restoring that back gets you pretty close to "nothing ever happened" - it doesn't backup the moden though, only system and data.
Uhmm... weird, even on ODIN you have a separate button for the CSC.
What are the consequences of changing the CSC?

As the above poster mentioned It really depends how the firmware is packaged
Intratech's firmware are packed in one TAR ( Pda/phone/csc ) is just one zip, which you put in the PDA section and it flashes all three of them within
If you get three seperate files then you put them in their corressponding order of ODIN
In this instance you can choose to keep your current CSC and not flash that one.
Although I am not sure if It has any effect between 2.3.3 and 2.3.4
Just to clarify CSC subject:
I live in Kazakhstan. My present setup (from *#1234#)
PDA: I9100XEKE2
Phone: I9100XXKDJ
CSC: I9100XEKE1
believe all available official samsung firmwares are issued do exist for different region(i.e. Kazakhstan is not included)
How safe is it to flash the 2.3.4 firmware now (KG2) ?
What can I possibly loose using the KG2 firmware from Samsung ? As u understand phone language is not a problem for me.....so wonder anything else I omit ?
Thanks for help
Sorry to bump in....
Hello, I am relatively new to forums, only discovered it since I got my galaxy s2, which was a month ago.
Anyways I have similar questions, and I read a bunch of topic which only made me even more confused about what to do, and didn't want to make a new thread so I bumped in here
If inappropriate, please ignore me.
Anyways, Ive got:
PDA: I9100XWKE1
PHONE: I9100XWKE1
CSC: I9100OJVKE1
It is an stock firmware, and I guess a ROM...
I want to update to 2.3.4 but waiting seems not to be a better side of me so I decided to do it manually.
My question is with what should I update with?
As far as I understand, latest official firmwares can be found in the Intratech's post ( the XXKG2 one ).
But I am worried about the CSC part, and how will it affect my phone?
As far as I understand CSC carries localization of a sort, for some network configuration, but my provider sends config messages, and only language I use in phone is English.
Will random CSC part affect me?
Can I even update from my current firmware to the latest one? or do I need to update to other one first?
Will update wipe my data? ( it seems no as far as I understood from guide )
Will the phone be full "stock" ( basically like I bought it with that firmware), and will I be able to update on later time with KIES ?
What kinda of problems (if any) might I expect with upgrading this way? ( if presumably I do everything as I should, i.e. as per guides )
Once again, I apologize for bumping this thread, and I thank you for any help you provide.

[Q] Debrand, Crappy Provider FW

Hello,
Just received my SGS2, and after boot i found a.......pretty bad surprise, the FW in my phone is a provider one, so far "nothing wrong" BUT is crappy as hell, i don't even have google apps on it. And the browser is labeled as "iPortal Mobil".
So i want to have it running Stock Samsung firmware, with no brand, no crappy apps, and no Carrier information.
The current firmware info is:
PDA I9100UHKE2
Phone: I9100UHKE2
CSC: I9100ECOKE1
The phone is a I9100, from Claro Ecuador.
I have searched in SamFirmware, and in the threads for official firmwares:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
And i can find, FW with the same PDA/MODEM, but not the same CSC.
I tried to find my FW in case i need to roll back for warranty purposes, but no luck so far.
I'm gonna call Claro PR, to ask them about this, but i don't expect any help..
The question is:
From the List on Samfirmware, whick FW should i use to de brand my phone, in the America Region, the FW listed are really old, and there is no info about if they are branded or not.
I have read that flashing other region firmwares can bring issues, hence i cannot flash one of those, the most common one being Wi-Fi drivers, is that true?
In a couple posts related, some people say that Claro requires that a "Claro" branded fw is flashed, otherwise the phone will have some issues, anyone who can shed some light in that?
Any help is really appreciated
Hello, my I9100 is from Claro Ecuador, yes its ugly what they made in this Rom but you can use any unbranded oficial Rom, try SamMobile. Im actually using the LP4 from Luxemburg and everithing is working fine. In order to do this you must read about flashing ROMs with ODIN.

Need...Some help with Flashing

Hi, I have looked endlessly to try to get a grasp on the concept of flashing but it seems to refuse to sink in for me, so I'm hoping maybe one of you more experienced in doing this can help me out. First off, I'm with Bell and my phone information (Still on stock) is as follows.
PDA: I9100MUGKG2
PHONE: I9100MUGKG2
CSC: I9100MBMCKG2
Basically, what I want to do is upgrade the firmware to 2.3.6, but preferably I would still like it to be an 'official' upgrade and from what I've read, it seems that it must NOT be a 'Frankenstein' firmware.
Then I'm only left with the...:
XILA2
Firmware info
PDA:XILA2
PHONE: XWKI1
Date: 12/01/2012
Android 2.3.6
ITV (Italy):http://www.multiupload.com/DCYIJJ47I5
XILA2 Stock Kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/U7GK3FPHXF
Password: [email protected]
Is it safe for me to install this firmware even though I have a different phone model number and everything? Every guide I've looked at just says to pick ANY firmware from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 so I don't know if that's true or not. If I installed this firmware would it change my CSC so that my phone would no longer work with my Bell carrier?
Thanks in advance...!
TLDR: Can I use this firmware update with my phone and would I still be able to use my phone with my current, Bell, carrier.
If you would like to help me, I would greatly appreciate it if you could use some links (preferably download links) in your response. Even if you don't want to help me, thanks for looking anyways!
i am also curious
Edit: Answer was given here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453251
No, if you are on a carrier locked device then you must flash carrier specific stock firmware in order to save warranty otherwise its fine to flash pretty much anything
BTW you should have received official updates by now.
If you can elaborate more about your location then we can help you out.
Alternately you can also check out this thread, it its for Bell/Virgin Canada Specific devices

Official Branded Kernel/ROM

Hello,
I'm attempting to return my I9100 to stock so I can update via KIES as I wish to sell it, after rooting, flashing ICS, playing around for a month etc...
It was originally a T-mobile handset, I used checkfus to find the original stock ROM, and I've downloaded it, however, I cannot get hold of the stock kernel for love nor money! (I've googled it, found one apparent alternative source, but for some reason it wont boot using this and just keeps looping through the T-mobile branded load-up screen)
The kernel I'm after is the following:
UK
BOKE3:http://www.multiupload.com/GY05UJM6DQ
Firmware info: PDA:BOKE3|PHONE:BOKD1|CSC:TMUKE3
BOKE3 Stock Kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/I41CAJ2BLS
Password: [email protected]
From this thread:
[ROMS]Official i9100 carrier branded firmware download for Odin Flash
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
I've read the thread and checked both Sammobile and Samsung-update and neither has the BOKE3 Kernel.
If anyone has this, please, please could you upload it so I can return my handset to stock, I would really appreciate it.
Also, if I'm doing anything obviously wrong, please point me in the right direction, I am a n00b at this. (I've successfully reset my counter using triangle away, and flashed the ROM from checkfus, but KIES still says NO!)
Many thanks!
Luke
ps. I realise now I should have backed up my stock kernel and ROM before tweaking, stupid stupid stupid...
I stopped reading somewhere when you say you downloaded using checkfuS and now after a stock kernel.........
Buddy ROM package like you get from checkfus is whole thing including kernel.
Just flash the ROM using Odin.
But be sure its for i9100 if you have that.

Why don't you just download and flash latest ICS ROM with UK support?
Do you really need the branded version?
Just have a look at Intratech's other thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
I recommend XWLPD, as this has best balance between performance and battery life on my phone.
If you want to go bak to GB, then flash XWLA4, which was best GB ROM IMO.
Thank you so much atifsh!
I did wonder whether the firmware download from CheckFus included the kernel, but couldn't figure it out (I'm stupid, I know! I'm new at this stuff...)
It's definitely the i9100 (checked under battery), it's definitely a T-mobile UK handset (bought it from a T-mobile customer who provided the contract paperwork).
Last night I tried flashing the latest T-mobile firmware, but KIES didn't like it, so tried flashing the BOKE3 firmware (oldest T-mobile branded firmware) and it didn't like that either.
Someone mentioned that when flashing you need to add the firmware file to the CSC section of odin to reset the CSC code, is this correct? I normally only include it in the PDA section.
This may be the problem I'm having as when I check my CSC using *#272*IMEI# it only lists CPW (carphone warehouse) and not TMU (T-mobile). Does this make sense as to why KIES wouldn't recognise the firmware?
I really appreciate your input and help here. Many thanks!
Luke
Hi It_ler,
Thanks for the advice, I was running the latest ICS firmware from the official thread, however I've decided to sell the device and would like to restore it to stock so that whomever I sell it to can update it through the official methods if they so wish.
Hope that makes sense!
Luke
Remove Sim, remove external sdcard.
Put the firmware.md5 in pda
Put your phone in download mode
after flash and boot dial *2767*3855#
It will wipe your phone and hopefully fix your csc.
Atifsh,
Thank you SO much! You saved my bacon. It worked when I did the *2767*3855# reset, this fixed the CSC and then the phone could update via KIES.
I really appreciate you help,
Many thanks,
Luke
