Need wifi calling on muiu rom!!!! - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, does anyone know how to get wifi calling on muiu. I am running asop version on my tmobile vibrant. I am new to muiu so any help would be great....

A search would have gotten you your answer. It's not possible, and odds are it never will be possible.

I would be on CM7 or MUIU if wifi calling was working. But I have found only the 2.2 roms, and only biwinning 2.2.1, and simply honey and maybe Asgard worked on the 2.3.4 roms.

I used a program called Sipdroid for wifi calling a while back. Not sure if it still works or is free but look into it.

Is anyone working on a wifi calling app for the vibrant on CM7? I would like to get it for my son's phone. He can't pick up anyones cell signal in his dorm room, but has wifi. I have wifi calling on my G2 and it's terrific. I would gladly pay for a working solution.

One of the recent MIUI revamped releases had wifi calling included, but if I remember correctly, it was yanked because the battery drain on it was really bad, not to mention it was really touchy to get it working. You may want to check in that thread to see if anyone still has a link to the release that had it.

[App] Download T-Mobile Wifi-Calling App from G2 here !

Everyone's been asking about it. Everyone wants it. Here it is, the wifi calling app from the G2! I've installed and runs perfectly fine on my vibrant running JP3 froyo 2.2. My home network is weak so i can't really test yet. Kudos to @Official_Drizzy for the .apk
Install with your preferred method of install, I used astro just fine, or push it to /system/app via adb. Whatever floats your boat.
enjoy
I wonder if this would work on Bionix 1.8? I don't mind testing, but if anyone knows the answer...

just install it, it won't hurt to try. If it doesn't, then remove it.
Doesn't look like it works at the moment... the app gets to the point where it says 'Enabling...' and doesn't do anything after that. It never goes unresponsive though. I'll keep messing around and see what happens.
It is being discussed in another thread... But it won't work yet with the vibrant. Something to do with the kernal.

Would love to get this thing working. Once it is, would it be possible to call using 3G instead of WIFI? Haven't they done it on Skype.
I wouldn't also mind having Skype work for my Vibrant either
Looks like im going back to Froyo!

The Wifi calling app is merely using your Wifi as a poor-man's femtocell to allow you to have clear voice calls if your in areas where decent voice signal isn't available and Wifi is. Granted, this would also have significant benefits when roaming or traveling where Wifi is available too...
But....
This uses the minutes allocated in your service plan.... So being hacked to run on 3g would be pointless...
doesn't seem mines is having an connectivity issues YET. It says i'm connected to my home network but that i can't use wifi-calling because the network is too weak.
I would just like to be able to use the phone in my apartment where I don't have service. To have to put it on a Froyo that doesn't work completely is out of the question though. Hopefully, someone smarter than me can get it working on JI6.
Just loaded Froyo, it doesn't seem to be working. Just says enabling....
EDIT: Maybe it does work. When I turn it on my signal goes from 1 bar to 5 bars.
Figures, it works perfect downstairs with wifi off and with wifi on. Its hard to tell if wifi calling is working or not because tmobile did fix my signal a little last week.

Well it might, because thats how it worked on the Blackberry. It switched to UMA and had full bars.
Honestly when I turn it off it goes to 0 - 1 bars the second i turn it on I get 5 bars.

i guess its cuz after finding out that wifi calling still uses your minutes (asfter talking to a tmobile tech suppot), then thats why... i think most people think wifi calling is free... it is actually beneficial for especially for those people who have weak network signal on their place..

Awesome sauce! I banged my head against this one until I just couldn't do it anymore, then completely lost hope when I was providing logs to the Nexus S guys trying to port Wifi calling, and saw the constant failure they were running into. Man, this is good stuff!

I read an forum somewhere where people were calling tmobile and having added to their plan and so long as you have it added "officially" then minutes weren't debited from their plan. people with grandfathered plans won't be able to do this without losing their grandfathered plans. People were having better success adding this feature online with a live chat from tmobile, as some representatives had no idea what people were talking about while others added it with no problems. I guess it matters which rep your get. But there were many people conforming that once the feature was added they confirmed no minutes being debited in "my accounts" etc.

The way Wifi Caling works is that it uses the internet to send and receive both calls and txt(not MMS). So in theory this should work the same no matter where you are in the world. Now there have been reports of it working successfully and other reports where it was not. So for you I would simply goto a free wifi cafe and turn on Wifi, attach to that free wifi and then turn on wifi calling. If it connects then send a txt to verify it is connected. If it goes through then you will have txt and calling as if you were standing in the US. in theory that is.
Thanks... Ill try it on jpj hopefully it doesn't charge us allot

[Q] order & chaos mmorpg

Hi all, I've been playing Order & Chaos a bit and love the game but am disappointed that I have to play over a Wifi connection. I've tried the trick of turning on wifi but not connecting it and it doesn't work for me. I'm curious if anyone else with a Vibrant has been able to play over 3G. Also I'm wondering if anyone has thought about developing an app similar to the 3G unrestrictor that the Iphone has that allows them to play over 3G. I'm on MiUi ReVaMpEd 3.1

I play this as well and always been wondering the same thing
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
There are other devices out there that are able to trick the game into thinking that the phone is connected to wifi by turning wifi on and just letting it scan but not let it connect. I have tried this trick on a couple different ROMs and I'm starting to think that it's not the ROM but the phone itself. I just flashed CM7.1 so I will give that a try later today and report back.

Ya, that would be awesome.
I tried with CM7.1 but still a no go. My buddy has an HTC Inspire 4G running CM7 and he can play straight from the network without having to even turn on his wifi. I'm thinking that it either has something to do with 4G connection or the Vibrant in specific. Maybe if there was a way to fool apps into thinking it was connecting at 4G or thinking that it was a different phone, the Inspire for instance.
There are a lot of games that are requiring wifi download only these days and a way to trick them, in addition to being able to play really cool games like Order & Chaos, would be really great.
Yeah its the 4G, you can also play gameloft games online using 4g, it seems like nobody cares about the few who don't have wifi.

Check your APN.
I had the same problem except I am using CM7. I was about to give up, then I checked my APN.
I noticed my phone had 2 APNs:
1. Simple <--this one was checked.
2. T-Mobile US
I decided to change the APN to T-Mobile, and the game worked over 3g. Finally!!
Good luck!

Tether your Touchpad

OK... After sacrificing my ability to tether by moving from CM7 xronified to ICS, I have tried all kinds of combinations to tether my Epic 4G Touch to my TP on ICS (currently running CM9 alpha 2).
I came across the app foxfi in the market and it WORKS. I am still on cloud 9 at the moment, but has anyone heard anything bad about this app? It doesn't behave like open garden or wifi tether, but its freaking working. I am posting from the tethered connection right now.

What tethering app are you using?
I must be missing something, how is it possible that what version of Android your TouchPad is running effects your phones ability to be a wifi hotspot?
I have never had an issue with using the built in wifi portable hotspot in Android to tether my TouchPad. If you enabled that on your phone when you were running CM7 on your TP, how would ICS affect that.

Touchpad doesn't play so nicely with all tethers. Consider yourself lucky. Alot of people dumped their TPs because they couldn't get tethering to work. It is very buggy. All 3 of my TPs don't tether at will. In the past, there have been different protocols to get each to work. My hotspot could be seen by every other device I own, but my TPs couldn't see it. There are tons of bug threads relating to wifi, but nothing really talking about tethering. I saw a few other threads in forums for phones addressing touch pad, but why not have a place in the touch pad forum to bring it all to one spot?
Now Foxfi works with all three TPs and no ceremonial switches and reboots are required to get it to go.
Mine tethers from my Atrix perfectly with the built in setting. didn't know people were dumping their tp cuz of tether.

Dumb ?
Read what was here, but question:
Do I need to root my phone? I have the HTC Incredible 2, and am not trying to root that and just trying to connect my Touchpad (wifi-only) to my phone and be able to use internet, market, etc.
What apps and instructions would I need?
I thinking only people on Sprint (or Verizon?) have that issue....I tether my tp with my Samsung captivate on ATT all the time...so does my Sister from HTC sensation on Tmobile....

As far as I know, without rooting, you will have to pay for the hotspot service by your provider in order to tether. I would say try PDAnet, but I haven't heard of anyone successfully tethering via BT.

That could be the issue too. I will test it with some of my friends phones and report back (might be a day or two). I didn't think about a possible conflict with carrier specific phones.

According to the info on the Market, Foxfi does not require rooting. But you will need to check to see if it is compatible with your phone.

I use freetether on my pre2 to tether-via-wifi with my touchpad, works great.
You're right about the bluetooth. The option is there, and I can get everything to link up, but it still doesn't seem to be actually sharing the internet connection. I thought it'd be brilliant to get bluetooth tethering going (it should use a bit less energy to tether, giving me better battery life), but it doesn't seem to work in all the testing and fiddling I've done...

[Q] Infrastructure Wireless on rooted 2.3.4 DX2

Ok rooted by DX2 very quickly.
Now, when I go to run any of the Wireless Teether apps, none of my mobile devices see it. I believe this because I can only get these apps to run in Ad-hoc mode. I am on v2.3.4.
Do I need to flash a custom rom in order to make this work, or is there a fix somewhere?
Alot of stuff that I am finding when I search is from 2.3.1 or 2.2.
Any point in the right direction is appreciated.
Thanks,
-Sf-
I believe you have to do the TBH radio hack to use infrastructure instead of ad-hoc. If you do this then you can use the mobile hotspot app which runs in infrastructure.

those are the only two methods I'm aware of, and I keep fairly close tabs on that one
There's also this. I don't know for sure if it works on our phones or not as I've had no need to use it. I'm running CM7 and it comes with wireless tethering. It looks just like the Verizon wireless hotspot app though. Perhaps that hack is how it's done on CM7. Can't hurt to try it
Thinking about it again, I'll flash back to a rom that has VZW's app on it and see if it works. I'll report back.
EDIT:
Guess you can scratch this idea. I tried it on Liberty and on a stock rom. Doesn't work.
I've got CM7 and my friends moto phone was able to connect. Just used the built in tether in wireless settings in CM7
The other apps only do ad-hoc with out phone so you can connect your laptop but not anotyer phone I believe.
