Bull****. You not break anything with phone usb. Just nothing happend.
Well It's my fault... there wore a whole bunch of wires on the table and I probably short circuit it >.< aw That was a good drive but I can probably say that that it didn't work since the flash didn't light up at least once. Also I thing I probably mixed the red and the black wires... the stupidity of me... I don't wanna fry my other 8gig's so be careful and not as genius as me. (At least it wasn't the phone!:O)
oh yeah the drive when I plug it in the pc - nothing. no lights, no recognition, no life.
The way I was doing it was lazy cause I didn't want to start to solder anything. I had a port and I try'ed to to plug in the drive and the phone next I used a hub witch is in my monitor witch I think did the trick for some reason. I'm not using some freakin' duck tape made adapter next time...What do you think happened to the drive?I didn't learn well yet.

Currently running UnNamed 1.3 and trying to access through Macbook Pro laptop. It worked great up until the other day. Phone no longer gives me the option to enter usb storage access mode when plugged in.
I did a quick search and found that it could be a kernel issue. I flashed an updated entropy kernel, but it didn't help. I've tried toggling USB debugging, as well as manually enabling USB mass storage through Wireless and Network > USB utilities.
Any ideas as to why my phone may not be allowing USB mass storage access? I use to access it simply by plugging the phone in and enabling from the pull-down menu but it no longer allows me to (just says "USB Connected, MTP Connected". I'm using the factory data cable as well.
Any ideas?
Did you use SiyahKernel at all?
This might be a side effect of the build.prop modification it does, not sure.
Another case of usb port failure?

I have not yet tried the Siyah Kernel. Only kernels I've used are stock and entropy.
I sure hope my USB interface isn't broken! I guess for now I'll but a card reader too use for transferring files, for now. I intend to update to the latest Un Named ROM and see if that solves anything.

Not really, the free version works fine. The biggest reason to pay is to support the project. Which is a good idea. I believe they are having issues with ubuntu right now, the image may be corrupt. I am a novice when it comes to Linux, but figure it is a good way to lean when I am away from my laptop.

Great stuff guys, now have to figure out why firefox keeps crashing.
This is awesome for those on-the-go times I have to edit a build or something. I wonder if apktool would run on this thing.......
Just found this zip on some other forum and decided to try it out. It came from a SGSIII, so I wasn't sure about it, but I flashed it and lo and behold it worked like a charm! Figured I'd share. It gives you 50 extra GB for 2 years. Not sure what happens after 2 years, but it's still nice to have.
Instructions:
1. Uninstall dropbox if it is installed on your phone.
2. Flash this zip.
3. Reboot, open dropbox, log in.
4. You should get an email soon (got mine in 5 minutes) confirming the extra space.
5. (optional, but recommended) Delete the 2 apks that this zip installs (/system/app/Dropbox.apk and system/app/DropboxOOBE.apk) and reinstall dropbox from the market. The dropbox included in the zip is an older version, so do this if you want the newer version and updates.
Enjoy =)
Edit: I figured this belongs here because it is more of a tip/trick than it is an app, but feel free to move if necessary.
Edit2: Apparently dropbox is removing this extra storage from people's account (mine included.) I have no idea why. Sorry guys, this sucks I've still got my 25 extra that I got from HTC though so I guess that's better than nothing.
Worked like a charm. Thanks for sharing!

Get it while you can. The Mods will most likely close this thread when they see it. There was a similar one posted in the SGS3 section and that was shut down. The extra 50 gb is definitely nice considering the one area this device lacks is storage.

yeah i modded the setupwizard in ukb for that (wouldnt shock me if it ended up in other roms at this point)
I can confirm it works in addition to UKB's free 25GB. I now have 75.3GB for 2 years!!!
***Note*** If you use the Play Store's auto app update feature, uncheck the box for Dropbox prior to flashing otherwise you're going to have uncheck the box and reflash again...like me ;p
I'm not sure, but this is the same program (Dropbox Guru) as the UKB bonus. So if you haven't done it yet, you might have to complete all parts of Getting Started (https://www.dropbox.com/gs) in order to receive the bonus. Once you have a green checkmark next to all of them. Upload a file from your phone and the bonus should come right away.
Awesome, thanks!

brain fart.
via recovery duh.
I've bought an USB host wire and an USB hub as I've seen that these were necessary to plug usb devices to the motorola atrix but it doesn't works.
Devices are powered but the phone doesn't recognise them (even for the usb drives...)
Does someone know how to make it work, do I have to mod the hub or do something like that?
I hope someone will find the answer to my problem (I've used the search bar several times and didn't find it)
Ps: Is it the right section to post this ? I'm hesitating with the Q/A
I think USB devices through OTG cable only work in webtop. Normal Android system has no support for client devices. I could be wrong though.
No idea about the section. Let's just leave it here.
AS everything works with the same setup on my friends phones.
Unless motorola has screwed us again and it's why Im talking about mod, I don't see the reason why it shoudn't work on our phones
you need a kernel with OTG support, the atrix supports it only when plugged in the HDDock or in the LapDock, if you manage to make it recognizes the USB Hub as the Dock, you should have everything working, also, you could check faux123's kernel, i dont remember, but it may support it.
but from what i got, it was supposed to be working after android 4.1(or not, the GNexus and the Nexus 10 support it, dunno if or why the N4 and N7 doesnt.)
I'm under avatarRom son I dont know.
I've heard that to make it able to be recognized as a dock, the only to do it is to power the phone through the usb wire, can anyone confirme that before I butcher my hub ?

You can try with nebtop app, which simulates the docking event, even without any hdmi connected, it stills offers to start the clock, so i suppose that effectively simulates hd dock

Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
Look its very simple. First you have to connect the hub with the phone (via the otg cable). Then you connect the hub with the charger (need usb male->male) so the ports are powered ... and VOILA the remaining ports are free for you
PS: i think that the quality hubs have something like power protection (?). In my case i first tried some ebay hubs (but they didnt made it for more than one week) so i bought a cheap (10$) ,but very good, from a local store
Ps2: sorry for 3days delay

If you make a quick search on google y will see a thread witch tells how to bypass a king of security the hubs (should) have for power. Maybe thays your problem

I don't know if my hub has this security, for the moment I don't have a male/male usb wire, so I can't try anything
So it is powered from an external power supply from a round port like laptops?
I think you should try with a usb male->male

Exactly, it's that hub (sorry for the size):

It's what I'm going to try, but maybe I could keep the power supply by pluging the phone to the hub using as usb otg + male/male wire
(I will try this week end)
Actually thats exactly what i use.
The white cable is connected to the (only) mini usb port because i had only one nale-male usb cable.
Also there are 2more usb ports that are not shown in the pic

I have the same problem as the op. Do I have to connect the phone via OTG cable to one of the regular ports of the powered hub or to the one USB-B port of the hub, where you normally would connect a PC?
Well, now isn't this interesting. Seems ZTE has published some early screenshots from the 7.0 ROM.

I find the built in root/unroot interesting.
Now this is what I'm talking about. Everything listed here makes me very happy to see it come to fruition. I didn't see anything about the notification bell everyone dislikes, bit we'll wait and find out.

Don't see any screenshots, did they pull them already?
This indeed would be nice, but it could also be another dangling of the carrot on a string. We have heard things from them before.
Check on the laptop and u can see the screenshots and they do show one of them whit that option
Root device
Unroot device ?
That would save so much time to us ? at least to me I'm not to Bright when it comes to mess whit the method they have to root right now I try one time and did work so I just left that alone ??

To anyone not seeing screenshots make sure you select request desktop site option. Looks promising so far.
I'm not a fan of the built-in rooting function unless it's a completely open source ROM. Like, I'd rather they just support CyanogenMod officially. With all of the implications of root I don't understand why. If anything, I'd rather have some more security.
My guess would be that the root / unroot would just be for in house testing of the ROM. It would be odd to deliver that in the final version, but you never know.
How hard would it be or what needs to happen so ZTE or someone that works there would provide a program like Odin for Samsung where u can restore the device to factory settings like old times whit the captivate ... That would save lots of time for the company and for us not having to send the phone to them to reflash it ? it may be to old fashion but I don't see why not !

I'm just as excited for this as everyone else, but this doesn't seem like the right section for this until we have a flashable 7.0 rom.

Android already has a way of flashing full roms. You don't need Oden or any other proprietary tools to do that. What we need is for ZTE to release a full factory image for the US model. They already have some out for the other versions.
The way it looks they probably won't release them ?

Me either. But Chinese users seems to love their built in root features -- it's all over the forums as a request. And I've seen it with other Chinese devices as well. It would seem odd for an official ROM to have it built in, especially with the security focus Google has been taking the last few years.
3rd party ROMs can do what they like (with all the security features finding their way into apps now, I'm starting to lean toward it not being included at all, so the ROM can still pass tests and people can flash whatever type of SU they want then).
Most importantly I want to know why he was searching for "spang bang" on his work computer....

LOL....sorry you beat me to it! Hoping we can keep him off the porn long enough to get 7.0 out!
Someone posted a lot more pictures from the Nougat work -- oddly flashed via TWRP.

Lockscreen notifications! Never been so excited to see those. Maybe it's a cm14 build?
