Hi,
The SGS2 has an account add button titled Server Sync. However it is completely undocumented (thanks Samsung).
I run my own iCal (CalDav) server for Calendars. No reason to hand my life over to a marketing company such as Google or anyone else.
Has anyone managed to work out what the Server Sync accounts are for?
These require settings like:
Sync Server
Username
Password
URL
Sync Catagory
Calendar <DBname>
Contacts <DBname>
Memo <DBname>
Sync type
Full Sync
Update both
Update to server
Update to phone
etc
Does anyone know what this is for?
Regards.

I did try and ring Samsung tech support in the Netherlands, but as usual she said "oh its for syncing calendars" to which I asked on a perfectly clear line with excellent reception "Which type of calendar servers?" and replied immediatly,
"Sorry I cannot hear you.."
"yes I can hear you"
"Are you there?"
"yes."
CLICK.
*****.
This has happened everytime I have called Samsung tech support. Fu*kers.

With the latest pq and p7 i had an issue syncing phone calendar with exchange (you don't see exchange calendar entries)
No way to get my task nor my agenda.

hi
same problem for me

To make it work (for me atleast)
1. remove the whole exchange account
2. Turn on auto-syncing across your phone.
3. add back your exchange account, but this time make sure on the initial account setup that you select an auto syncing interval (anything except never). I used every hour.
4. Wait a while and it should show up in calendar (it did for me)
I had the same issue and that fixed it, many thanks.

Yeah. I've looked through all the files I could find, and it must be encrypted on the phone.
I don't know the location and/or method Yahoo uses to store the password. If you are really desperate and have a rooted phone, you can probably obtain the password by stracing the process.
benno.id.au/blog/2007/11/18/android-runtime-strace
Using: strace -o output.log -s4096 -p <process id of yahoo mail app>
This will allow you to peak at the login communication but be warned, the output will be verbose. (I would search for your login name and see if the password is next to it).
Small note though: I hope Yahoo actually only uses you password during the initial App setup and than creates a unique token for future logins. For you of course, I hope they keep using the password ;-)
With as often as Yahoo Mail gets hacked, just ask someone on a cracking site for your password!
One account cracked yesterday for my son, one today for my wife. We use extremely cryptic, random generated passwords because of Yahoo's cracking history.
They either have an insider providing PWDs or..... Nevermind, we use HTTPS for sign in.
Yeah, Yahoo has insiders selling these farkers!

Honestly, it sounds more likely that your machine is infected with malware. Or.. perhaps someone pwn'd the email account that is used as recovery account for both your wife and son's email? Like.. your account ? Hi hijackers ;-)
(fwiw: hijackers often change the recovery settings so they can get back when the owner gets suspicious. )

Anyone else notice that if you have exchange email sync disabled but calendar enabled, the calendar does not sync automatically?
I don't want to sync my exchange email but definitely need the calendar. I have to constantly hit the sync button in the calendar app for it to update. This type of setup worked fine on my Captivate running CM9 nightlies. Any ideas on how to fix it?
Edit: This post should probably be moved to the Q&A section. Sorry about that.
I'll check this out on my phone, however, I've noticed in general that the calendar sync on android is suspect.
---------- Post added at 08:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:10 AM ----------
Mine sync'd almost immediately with email sync disabled. I would say within 60 seconds. I did notice that the widget didn't update until I opened the actual calendar application for my first test. I'm testing out when the widget updates as I type this.
How are you testing your calendar? I'm creating a new appointment on Outlook (desktop app) then making sure Outlook has updated Exchange before I am checking my phone.
I then look at the widget on my home screen first. (1x3 stock widget). Then go into the Calendar application.
I so far am noticing a delay of the widget updating, so far at 2 minutes, no widget update if I don't go into the actual Calendar App.
UPDATE: Widget does update, but there must be a refresh interval (so it doesn't drain CPU and battery) Took about 2.5 minutes for the widget to update.

Also, removing a Outlook event from my phone takes about 60-120 seconds to reflect on the Exchange server, about what I would expect.

Pretty much testing like you. New meeting on my outlook calendar does not show up in the calendar app or widget until I hit the "sync" option. I've waited hours before...
strange I'm not having those problems.
Without giving away too much information in a public forum (feel free to PM me if you'd like)---
What version of exchange are you using? Do you know the architecture of the Exchange deployment? (Front-End & Back-End servers, etc?)

Not sure on the exchange setup... however I can tell you that it works just fine on CM9. I think it has something to do with the Samsung exchange stuff :\
Like I said, I'm not having the same problem as you. I am running stock Sprint S3 image. Maybe it's a carrier thing?
Hi,
does anybody use Carddav Sync? I'm using it with an owncloud server and also with a caldav server (business and private contacts seperated).
So what's absolutely not working is the Sense contact management.
I cannot create contacts and I cannot edit contacts. When creating a contact it only gives me the possibility to store on SIM, Google or on the phone.
When an existing contact is opened the option to edit the contact is missing.
I contacted the carddav sync tool maker and also HTC.
HTC actually didn't understood what my problem was. They sent me back a catalogue answer with some Microsoft Exchange crap.
Does someone has experience with this? Would be much appreciated.
Search for Contact Editor Free (Martin Gadja) on Google Market. Try this app to edit contact. In the app description on market you will also see the reason why you can't edit contacts on CardDav account with default tools...
Known HTC issue
This seems to be an HTC issue. I have the same problem with an HTC One X.
The developer wrote me:
I know about this issue (I have an HTC One X too). Since it works on every non-HTC device I consider this an HTC bug. I wonder why it works with WhatsApp. Obviously HTC is aware of WhatsApp but not aware of my apps.

I found that the advanced contact editor will not help, since there is just no "edit" button.
---------- Post added at 09:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:11 PM ----------
In order to edit a contact:
Open the contact list -> long click on contact -> from popup menu choose: "edit contact"
In order to add a new contact:
Install advanced contact editor and start it explicitly (do not use "add contact" option from contact list)
are there solutions now?
Hi all,
I've been trying to remove as much proprietary software as possible from my Nexus 7 2013 LTE (deb). I re-flashed CM11 and didn't install Gapps.
I usually use Hangouts; I was hoping to use ChatSecure to connect using my Google account instead but it won't let me log in (if I click add Google account I get a popup with "Account type" that is otherwise empty).
Is there some dependency that ChatSecure needs to be able to use a Google account? Does anyone know how to use a google account with CatSecure without Gapps?
Thanks,
Feathers
Chatsecure and google chat
I know I'm reviving an old thread. I also have the same problem and googling has not yielded satisfactory results.
Anyone else experience the same problem? I have version 13.1.2 of chatsecure from F-Droid installed on CM11. Its the same problem, I tap account type, and a blank popup with header Account Type appears.
Regards
Paul

Ah, that is a bit of a fail. It seems the google account has to already be set up on the device. This means that if we want to operate our Android device without linking anything to Google Chatsecure wont be of any use. I have in stead opted to use Xabber. Pity, as there are many reasons to prefer Chatsecure.

Apologies, another update. ChatSecure can be used with Google Talk even if the google account is not registered on the android device.
I added the Google Talk account as an XMPP account, port 5222 on talk.google.com. So both Xabber and ChatSecure should work without any issues.

good app. I use it instead of fb messenger too.
