[Q] Unroot w/HBoot 1.5 - HTC EVO 3D

Running Synergy ROM, HBoot 1.5, TWRP recovery installed, did HTCDEV Bootloader unlock...want to unroot and having problems. RUU file keeps failing with unknown error....tried putting PG86IMG.ZIP on sdcard root...reads it, but it'll never ask if I want to upgrade. When I go to select zip & pick it says bad file. I've already tried downloading the file from 3-4 diff sites with same error so i know file isnt bad...what am I missing?

The one think I didn't see mentioned and needs to be done is that before you run the RUU is that you need to boot into fastboot USB then run the RUU.

I don't believe you can re-lock your phone if you used the HTC method. It states right on their website that once you use their method there is no undoing it.

Pretty sure I say RUU floatong around the forums that returns you to unrooted status.

Feels like HTC open the door let us in then locked the door. That sucks for you guys.

In fact, I can relock after followed the HTC method to unlock the bootloader. just enter into fastboot and issue:
fastboot oem lock
Good luck!

I'm yet to see an ruin that works with hboot 1.5 and ive tried maybe 4 or 5...they all fail for me with unknown error.

What good would relocking the bootloader do if i can't flash a unrooted ROM though?
Sent from my PG41200 using Tapatalk

You flash the unrooted rom before locking the bootloader

In my experience that's backwards. You have to lock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock) before you run the RUU.

hboot 1.5 is smart program lol. it restrict us in many ways...
the only method to re-install RUU's (or putit on stock/unroot) is to lock the unlock hboot then re-flash RUU
folder where rootevo3dnew :
command: fastboot oem lock

Just search unroot EVO 3D by zedomax, his videos are amazing and he goes into detail.

Root help

Okay so I had an HTC rezound before and rooted it fine. But I just got it again from another member and im stuck. It's got the latest ics ruu but the bootloader reads locked with s off. I can't seem to fastboot or nothing. The Android driver won't install. I tried re installing the SDK and I can't because for some reason the Java JDK doesnt wanna install. Im kind of disappointed cuz I thought it was rooted but oh well. Any help guys ?

if you are s-off, just flash amonRA recovery via the sd card, and then install su/superuser via amonRA developer menu in recovery.
hold volume down while powering on to get into boot/recovery.
How do I install via recovery? Do I download it, rename it and flash it thru hboot?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
amonRA has an option in the developer menu called "install su/superuser"
sooooo
1) boot into recovery
2) scroll to Deveoper menu, click power.
3) scroll to "install su/superuser" click power.
Sorry I forgot to mention that there is no recovery on the phone. Sorry I thought I mentioned it
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
install amonRA from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339679&highlight=amonra+ph98img+zip
put the ph98img.zip on the root of your SD card, and flash it in the boot loader.

You don't have to.
Look.up Armon's Ra thread in the dev section, there you will find a PH89IMG file, put that on the root of your external sd and reboot to hboot (bootloader), it will install tge recovery for you and you can root from there.
Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk
I've got the PH98IMG.zip for AmonRA if you need it, just PM me! You can probably just flash it like they said and then it'll give you recovery. That's what I did before.
1) Put PH98IMG.zip in root of SD card
2) Boot into bootloader and then accept the install
3) Boot into AmonRA recovery

I recommend flashing
http://unlimited.io/hboot-downloads/
the vigor ics hboot
thus granting you commonly used fastboot commands.
make sure the md5 sum matches, and follow the instructions.
I'm not responsible for any mess ups that may occur during this ^ process.
If you don't use fastboot then this isn't needed.
okay guys i got another problem. i flashed the TWRP recovery just fine thru the PH98IMG.zip way. then i tried to flash the AmonRa recovery that way and it finds the recovery but then it say Phasing or Phrasing and then does nothing. i then try the fast boot way (finally got it to recognize fast boot) and it tells me "FAILED <remote: not allowed>" i tried downloading it several times to make sure it wasnt a bad download and nothin. what to do guys?

[Q] Stumped! How in the heck do I get S-off and wifi working?

I have bootloader ver 1.05.0000 and my S is on. I am trying to get it turned off. Both revolutionary and thunderbolt tool fail at the rooting portion. I already hack clockworkmod flashed and am running a thunderstick full blown (for now). I want to update my radios and attempt to fix my wifi. So how do I go about getting the s-off on this thing. I have adb and can log into the phone push/pull files and send it commands. What am I missing?
Ever since i flashed clockwork and got a working rom installed my wifi has been KIA.
Thanks,
Barry
I tired this method: http://www.thunderboltforums.com/fo...690-downgrade-get-s-off-now-unneccessary.html
No dice. Still says S-on revolutionary still didnt work thunderbolttool worked then opened revolutionary, but revoutionary still failed.
What now?
Make sure you disable your computers firewall and virus protection. Sometimes it can cause it to hang up.
Also make sure USB debugging is turned on.

You don't need to downgrade, but you do need to be on a stock rom (.19 or lower) for the root to work. Here's a stock .19 ruu that should work for you: http://goo.im/devs/trter10/PG05IMG.zip
edit: just noticed the last post. Just going to warn you, you will not be able to flash an ICS or AOSP ROM with just htcdev unlock

You do have to relock the bootloader through fastboot. Fastboot OEM lock. Then if it boots up afterwards put back in fastboot to run the RUU. I have done this multiple times with success. Afterwards it will not say tampered, but it will.say relocked instead of locked. But I've sent mine into sprint several times for repair and even got a replacement device

Question regarding RUU

I am running latest firmware and want to do RUU again. I am S-OFF,unlocked and rooted.
So to do the same, I have to follow the following steps, correct me if I am wrong:
1. Relock the bootloader using "fastboot oem lock" in fastboot mode.
2. Run the RUU.
3. Unlock bootloader using HTCdev.com website and steps mentioned there.
4. Root again.

i thought the issue would be that the stock RUU wouldn't run if it saw that the bootloader was unlocked. similar to how an official OTA won't run if you have a custom recovery (not really the same at all except for the net result)

Is it okay to run the RUU (2.13) for hboot 1.19 if I am on hboot 1.12 (s-on), unlocked and rooted? I know I'll need to oem lock to run the RUU but want to make sure it has no ill effects.
Yes you can run a newer ruu than what you have but not older. Also after you run ruu, you will still be s-off so you shouldn't need to htcdev, just flash recovery then a rom

Can you boot into a rom as normal, or are you stuck at the bootloader screen?
If you're stuck at the bootloader screen, then I would find a way to unlock your bootloader (try HTCdev, hopefully it will still work) and then flash a recovery, a rom and then finally a kernel. You might need to run a stock RUU before you can re-unlock your bootloader.

Your bootloader needs to be unlocked to be able to flash a recovery; it must be locked to run a RUU. If you don't have the stock recovery on there then the only way I can see forward is unlocking with HTCdev.
If it's failing, you need to post some output as to why. Copy and paste the error text, or better yet, take a screenshot and post it here and people will be able to help you more.

My hboot is 1.32. I am mad, that I can't make the security warning, go away and I can't download roms. Sometimes I just want to break my phone and get another one.
When you originally in locked the boot loaded you got an e mail use hysoons tool kit and make a new folder in your c drive rite click and rename it to the unlock .bat paste that into your folder run the unlock boot loaded ommand and boom warning all nandroid back ups will be lost the last Rom you were on will be what pops up as a clean slate

Can you just give me some simple steps to follow by please, I'm confused about trying to relock my bootloader.
Step one flash the stock ROM/kernel step 2 use the root kit to re lock the boot loader reboot it will only reboot as normal with the stock ROM/kernel if you want to unroot and revert everything to stock find the updated ruu run it and then do a factory data reset and presto its out of the box condition

Why are you wasting your time when you don't even understand the basics? This is another example of people that jump straight in without reading. Then expecting the community to clean there mess up......
For your bootloader to read "relocked" you must of unlocked and locked the bootloader atleast once. Why can't you remember how you did it?
Your best bet it to search your email for the unlock code HTC sent you the first time you unlocked the bootloader, download and flash it, then flash a custom rom.
Good luck
