If you have purchased an HP Touchpad DEMO UNIT (only) from a local Radioshack store, they have been given a memo to allow these customers to return the Demo unit to be swapped out for either a real HP Touchpad, or for a Toshiba Thrive tablet.
Store specifics may vary. I know of a few stores that have received an e-mail with authorization to go ahead and swap the Demo Unit for a Toshiba Thrive straight up (maintaining the $149.99 price), which seems like a very killer deal to me. However, not all Radioshacks have been authorized to swap for the Thrive, as some stores have secured a replacement non-Demo HP Touchpad to swap.
Either way, if you're worried that your Demo Unit was mishandled, isn't the same exact hardware/performance, or just want a brand new tablet rather than a Demo, talk to the Radioshack you bought it from, and see what they can offer you.

I got my G Tab for the 255.00 on woot, and since having it others I work with want one and was wondering if you know where to get a great deal for the G Tab instead of paying the 399.99 at Sears.
Also the Clip case question. Where can I get one?
Happy Hump Day!
Many places are mentioned in the threads
Office Depot has it for $299 on the website. It's the cheapest I've found from a reputable retailer.

The Sears Outlet also has a bunch of "refurbs" which a lot of times is one that a customer returned without any defects. Several folks here have bought them before the Woot deal and have reported no problems with buying a "refurb" from the Sears Outlet. Although the site says it's store pickup only several folks have reported that if you first buy it online and then call the store after you've bought it the store will ship it to you for free.

Note: click the "Find all available products" link after the above page comes up to see all the stock.
The clip case you can get at www.electroniccrap.com. He sold out of black so only white ones are available today.
When was it on woot for $255? I only saw $279 both as a daily and the woot-off. I bought mine for $279 on the woot-off.
As low as $316 shipped from Amazon Marketplace.
Oppps, Yes it was 279.00. Was in an alternate reality when I was typing and don't know why I typed 255.00.
Apologies if this sounds stupid....so I ended up with 2 primes shipping, one 2nd day, one UPS 3 day select. Due to the holidays I will get one from Store A today. The one from Store B is due Thursday. Of course I'd like to open, charge, and start using the one from Store A today. However, I like the payment plan I used better for Store B.
Question? Will the vendor know which tablet they sent? Are the serial numbers on outside of the box? For example, keep item from Store A, but return item from Store B to Store A due to payment terms. Refund from Store A make payment to Store B.
Does that sound as wacky on screen as it does in my head????

What you ask makes complete sense. I believe from unboxing videos I have seen the serial number is on the back of the box. (My prime from Best Buy will not be here until tomorrow) Not knowing the practices of the vendor you selected there is no way to know if they scan the serial number for tracking purposes. IMHO you should contact the vendor and simply ask. Better safe than sorry.
Thanks for the info, I figured like most electronics the S/N was on the outside of the box. I suppose I could call but that would be a strange conversation wouldn't it? "Yes I'd like to return this Prime I ordered from somewhere else, but it's still in the box." It was Newegg and ABT by the way.
I am debating Ebay but not sure how they are selling on there now?
They always check serials but you could always ask them
Nvidia always!
I'm pretty sure they can check the serial even if it wasn't on the case of the prime. The hardware Id or serial should be accessible in over of the menus. You'd probably get away with it, but I'm sure they could check if they really wanted to.

Or you could just sell it to me if it's a champagne one it would really make my new year since I couldn't enjoy one on Christmas :-(
Try ebay or craigslist, might be able to make a little profit on it if you really want.
Depends on the store, I know for a fact Staples doesn't have a S/N on the receipt. They just check that the box and items S/N match when returned.
Thanks for the replies. I guess I have a day or two to decide. May go the EBay route and see if it sells.
Just stick it on Craiglist, odds are you can make a profit.
You can sell it to me.
I'll take it for free (;
Honestly, just attempt returning it. It's not illegal, so the worst that will happen is that they'll deny you and you'll be back to where you are now.
I'm pretty sure when they scan the bar code they will realize that it's not a match to the info in their system.
I'm in a similar situation. Ordered from store B on 12/4/11 and it shipped 12/23 to be delivered on 01/03/12. 18 months financing.
Purchased 2nd unit 12/19 from store C to be delivered 12/23 but then went to backordered status. Several phone calls to customer service at this store and I'm assured it will ship 12/28 to be delivered 12/29. I was given a $50 credit at this store against the purchase price but no financing deal. The full $450 will charge to my credit card.
I would like to have 18 months to pay but that would essentially mean I just paid $50 more for the unit.
I think I will list the brand new, unopened unit on Craigslist when it arrives from store B on 01/03/11 and use the $$$ to pay my credit card for the purchase at store c where I received the item for $50 less, rather than just returning the unit from store b.
Wow, that's confusing.
Serial number is on the bottom.
Just say you got a second as a present and don't know which is which - and ask if it matters.
I got my prime and love it, but need to exchange because of some light bleed and strange battery issues. Has anyone exchanged at best buy? How does that work?

You have 14 days from delivery to return you tablet, problem is that they don't have them in the retail stores, or at least not in NJ. Good luck finding one, they are also not available online.

I got mine exchanged no problem; as long as you're within 14 days of the arrival date there won't be any problems. I just walked in, showed the guy the few dead pixels I had, and then he refunded my card for it. They won't have em in stock though, so then they just order you another one from the website. Kinda sucks having to wait all over, bit it'll be worth having a fully functioning tab.
Ps: I was rooted before I exchanged so I backed up all my stuff using titanium to an sd card then unrooted and factory reseted. I'd definitely recommend that if you're rooted.

This evening I called BB to return my tablet due to the no GPS and a slight bleeding on the too right of the tablet, the customer service rep told me that a replacement could not be shipped, and that it could be exchanged at a retail store. The problem is that there are none at the retail stores. So, how is it that the store will order you one on-line when they are not available on-line?
Has anyone here returned a Prime for a refund that was ordered online? I'm wondering if they give any trouble with refunding the shipping charges.
I returned my by calling customer service. They immediately shipped me a new one over the phone and told me to take my defective one to a store once the new one shows up.
The new one came in 2 days (this was during the last week of December). It was really painless and easy.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are in route to the store. I purchased one on best buy for ship to store this past weekend and it had an estimated delivery of 1/14/12. Then I tried to order a second one the next day using the same method and they would not let me send it to the store. I could choose site to store but then every location showed as unavailable. I took this to mean that maybe they are already in route to the stores so they don't want you placing additional site to store orders. I am just guessing but it seems funny they allowed me to order one site to store and later I HAD to choose shipping to my house to get one even though site to store was still available to click.

And yet I have had to get the public defender team on my side to get them to ship me one, and that was under duress.
It would be really nice if they had some consistency.
I returned my Prime to Best Buy after it went into a never-ending boot loop on day 15. I was concerned they would not accept the return after their stated 14-day return policy for tablets, but they did not challenge this at all after I described the problem.
The bad news is when I returned it to the Best Buy store the Prime was not available either in the store (or in any store in the state) nor for online ordering. They gave me a credit, and said I could reorder another one myself when they became available. <Heavy Sigh>
The good news is that the Office Depot site allowed me to order a Prime online (although it was initially showing as backordered). Lo and behold the next day the order was processed and I should have a Prime in 2 days. Just in time for ICS!
Let's hope the second (and not the third) Prime is the charm!
Just be aware that Office Depot does not allow returns on Tablets only exchanges.
January 11th and no store has a transformer prime in stock. Do you think they are working on a REv 2 before they fill retail channels?
I had a suspicion they were holding back on their shipments until ICS release. But just a wild guess.
Fry's has it in stock in stores... at least everywhere in Texas they do... I'm still waiting for my pre-order from Amazon though, as I am getting it for 1/2 price.
I thought of checking my 2 local Frys. But a few things are stopping me.
1) Tax
2) Stupid California Electronic Waste Recycling
3) Almost $200 in Amazon giftcards
4) I think they only have 32GB models at Frys (and BestBuy)? (May be mistaken here).
In all honestly, if it weren't for the extra $60+ it'll cost to get it from Frys because of #1 & #2 I'd get it, unless of course they don't have the 64GB models. I'm always buying stuff from Amazon, so the giftcards wouldn't go to waste.
I THINK Amazon has a longer return policy too... Although I'm not 100%.... This link really scares me:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=901900
"Computers purchased from Amazon.com which have been opened are subject to a partial refund of 85% of the sale price."
Note that that link seems almost impossible to find through Amazon itself, and has to be dug up through Google search.
Fortunately Amazon has really good customer service, so I'm sure it would only take a few phone calls to get a full refund, if it comes to that. (Plus if I return it it'll be because it's defective or if wifi is extremely ****ty, either way it'll be easier to argue for a full return). Example of Amazon's great customer service: http://forums.webosnation.com/hp-touchpad/292156-amazon-waived-30-day-return-policy-my-touchpad.html
So much Prime forum post and article news that people returned for refund.
How would I know what I'm receiving was not a pre owned prime and resealed?
Refurbished units are required to be re-labelled as so. If you're purchasing from an Authorized Dealer then you are pretty much guaranteed a new unit.
