Pantech crossover how to root.
1. install Android sdk and update.
2. enable usb debuging on your phone.
3. Download and install the pc suite to get the adb driver for the crossover.
http://www.pantechusa.com/support/crossover_p8000
4. download and extract superoneclick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
5. make sure that adb can see your device. From a command prompt change directory to the place that you installed the android sdk android-sdk\platform-tools and run "adb devices" you should see your device connected.
6. run superoneclick.exe make sure that you select GingerBreak from the exploit menu
7. donate me.
I am running kernel version 2.6.32.9
Bump. I figured out how to root the crossover.

usb debuging is on
How to make sure adb can see the phone?

....From a command prompt change directory to the place that you installed the android sdk android-sdk\platform-tools and run "adb devices" you should see your device connected.
checked the adb devices and device is connected. still it is freezing at step 6
Did you make sure and select gingerbreak from the exploit menu?

ok so i followed the instructions, i selected gingerbreak, my pantech crossover is still at 2.2.1, adb can see my device, my sd card is unmounted and superoneclick, becomes un responsive at step 7: waiting for device... i also get a little thingy that caught my attention that says "mount:you must be root" any suggestions?

Hey what was the stupid? I may be doing the same thing. If not, I can't get this to work. It just dies at step #5, no error code, SOC freezes, and I have to task kill it. I have no AV enabled. Here's my setup:
- running win 7 Pro x64
- pantech drivers installed
- development is enabled
- adb can see device
- SOC set to gingerbreak
- there is no mem card mounted or even in the device (it gets further if there is... step 7 and dies... maybe file system is inaccessible?)
What am I missing?
I would love to hear if anyone bricked their crossover..I want to root my wife's crossover, but if I bricked it I would NEVER hear the end of it!

I've read from other users of Optimus Net (LG-P690) who successfully rooted their devices. I've seen a guide for these, but on my part I can't root it.
I've already installed the drivers and my phone is recognized in the device manager. I already set my phone to usb debugging. I opened the command prompt in windows 7, then i followed the instructions, then i typed "adb devices" and it flashed "List of devices attached" only. when i typed "adb shell", it says "error: device not found".
How can I root my phone successfully?
Please help me. My current software version is "V08b" and i'm sick of it because its full of bugs. Thanks in advance.
I tried to update my software using LGMobile Support Tool..it dectects my phone as LGP690 but it says that i have the latest version. But when i clicked "supporting models", it says that p690 is updateable to V10b.. I just dont understand why it wont let me update..
I've just learned that my problem got worst. In the LG Sorfware Updater (B2Capp), my phone is recognized as p690 and it says that i have the latest software. Of course, i assumed that my device is already recognized, but when i installed the lg pc suite IV, my phone is not recognized and its says "no response from device". When i entered "mass storage mode", it installs the drivers and says that my device is successfully installed, but actually thats the end of it. the phone does not do anything and so is the pc. My notifications does not show that my usb is connected to a pc
it drives me crazy. I don't know what the problem is. I already installed the correct drivers and toggled the usb debugging mode, but the only program that could recognize it is the B2Capp..
Optimus net users, have you encountered this? I might not buy another lg phone again, because their phones are crap.
For those who will help, thanks in advance.
ive tried it on 4 other pc, windows 7 and xp. It always says that my phone and my cable is not connected. The only thing it does is to charge from the computer, nothing else.
Heres my phone:
Model number: LG-P690
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: Unknown
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.10-perf+ [email protected] #1
Build number: lge_gelato-userdebug 2.3.3 GINGERBREAD V08b.41cea59f test-keys
Software version: LG-P690-V08b
IMEI: 004401099944007
while other optimus net phones have 2.3.4 and 2.6.35.10-perf, mine is different.... i believe its sort of a early prototype or something..
since i received this phone, i have never seen the usb notification in the status bar or in the notification. It's stange because it is suppose to appear on any android device when it is connected to a pc, especially when the drivers are installed. But i have NEVER seen it, EVER. Strange, right?
....edit......
I tried using the lgmobile support group, clicked on "recovery phone", entered my imei, and it directed me to the software update, only to find out that "model not supporting s/w update"... DAMN!!!!!!!!!! i think its dead end for me..
Bro I'm using the same unit too...i bought it last friday, where did you find the tutorial? can i have the link so that i can also try it, anyways im from Philippines too.
anyways the difference is im using the latest version software V10b.
im new in using android smartphones...so i have no knowledge in everything. can you please help me out if it will work on my unit. thank you.
for the root i follow this guide and work:
androidworld.it/forum/lg-optimus-net-p690-187/%5Bguida%5D-permessi-di-root-su-lg-optimus-net-27860
i have to translate it?
now i look for a custom recovery.
i brought thid device n although it is my first andriod....but after few hours i was able to root it........BUT DONT EVEN TRY TO INSTALL CLOCKWORK RECOVERY....from rom manager......i got bricked into this.....i used the superone click application to root......

How to root Alcatel 918D "Blaze Glory"
1. Install drivers
2. Install Android SDK
3. Make sure that USB-Debugging ist activated on your device
3. Start Dalvik Debug Monitor and make sure that your device is connected
4. Start SuperOneClick 2.3.3.
5. Voila! :-D

So easy?
I'll try it...
p.s.
Where kan I find Dalvik debug monitor to download?
After many unsuccessful attempts (Gingerbreak, other SOC-Versions) someone in a forum from the philippines told me this way and for me it worked perfect!
The secret was to keep the device connected to DDM! Without that SOC freezes...

Install "PDANet" on your PC with generic drivers. After that you should find an "Android ADB Phone" on your PC after plug-in the device.
Where can I find the Dalvik debug monitor?
If you installed the SDK you'll find it ..\Android\android-sdk\tools
Use the ddms.bat

FYI,
I've tried uot.dakra.lt UOT Kitchen couple times so far and have been ale to change the font of the device and the color of the glow for overscrolling but my time and other icons up in the status bar disappeared (the "AT&T" still shows up there though). The Backup and Restore in CWM does work nicely though to get me back to before I installed the zip from UOT Kitchen. I'll try 1 mod at a time using UOT kitchen and see which is making the icons and time disappear from my status bar.
EDIT: I did notice one issue with CWM backups. The backup I did today saved the folder name as "1970-02-22.03.14.56". Some reason the date is wrong in the file naming, should have started with "2012-04-13", right?

I solved my problem by referencing to part II of the following page:

Be sure to download two programs PDANet and USBView (which you may not really need but it's a nice little program).
It's suppose to be "stupid easy" to root PANETCH Burst, but who ever said that left out that it's not so easy if you don't have all the proper driver on your computer. Anyway, so soon after the fastboot mode is brought up, you should notice the computer is telling you a new hardware is found. This is when the burst switches from PANTECH's ADB driver to something else, and only way for the command "fastboot boot prestoroot.img" to work is to find the proper driver for the new hardware call "Android" in the device manager. Now you want to install PDANet, and as soon as the installation process begin, it'll find the driver for the device "Android." and install the driver for you. Once the driver is installed, the installation process will tried to install whole bunch other things into your phone, but I really don't think it can install them in fastboot mode, so you'll probably want to terminate the process. Now type command "fastboot devices" and you should see some kind of output telling you that it's recognize the "Android" device. Now, and only now you can follow the rest of "stupid easy" rooting instruction.

they were asking if any of the software we are using would work on a mac. the answer is yes depending on what software you are refering too. the pantech suite (which has been useless to me with the exception it installed the drivers for me) is windows only. I had actually gotten the drivers originally at work by using pda net. The information I gave above is what I came up with after a quick google search. I'm not sure if that or pdanet for mac would have those drivers.

Hello, i just recently purchased an Allview P5 smartphone, it's really cost efficient but recently i started getting some problems because the phone is not rooted and i was wondering how to root the android 4.04. i tried the superoneclick 2.3.3 and installed adb and something from java, bu when i rung the program superoneclick the program just freezes and it's not responding. any suggestions or guides that i should follow?
best regards
Chris
Try root for HaiPai I9220. For me it works.
Having the same problem here, Superoneclick freezes on step 7 iirc.
HaiPai didn't work for me either
So that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923764
There you will find this: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?othd1gf76pa97zg
It is 100% functional, but need more knowledge and skill.
Ok, I came a lot further this time, but still stuck.
As soon as I let Cygwin `patch` the recovery.img, it does the patching and stuff, but it doesn´t create a new recovery.img for some reason..
If you check page 13 of that PDF manual: I get all the same messages in Cygwin, except for that "Repacking" bit.
Any Idea why it isn't repacking?
Losing my nerves a bit because of Cygwin, what a horrible program to get to work properly. Installation went on beyond 100%, till about 2000% and then just started to count further in negatives >____<
You must have installed 7-zip archive program.
SuperOneClick should work for this device. You may try this:
1) unmount the sd-card, turn ON usb-debugging
2) turn OFF usb-debugging
3) connect device to PC
4) click "Root"
5) when "Waiting for Device" appear turn ON usb-debugging
6) when "Starting ADB Server..." turn OFF usb-debugging
7) then turn it back ON
8) and back OFF
9) repeat this while "Waiting for Device" appears again.
@Stovka: I have 7zip installed, the unpacking/extracting of the recovery.img goes fine in Cygwin, but for some reason it just skips the repack part.
@AndreyETO: As soon as I disable debugging mode, superoneclick stops the procedure, so I didn't get far with that
So sorry, I don't really know what is the problem...
It was all ok for me - the one problem was that I had not installed 7-zip, but after installing it worked exactly according to instructions.
If it were successful: after recording recovery.img to the phone is first necessary to go into CWM mode (no run phone) and install the root file attached. End CWM recovery mode is classically done by clicking on "reboot system now", but after the first time there appears one more option (just I don't know what name), which must be confirmed! Otherwise, when you restart the phone again, then will be loaded the original file and the recovery process must be repeated - upload modified recovery.img and then root file via CWM.
Found another way to root, and it worked
I used the method in this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 )I used the current newest version:V15)
The first time it didn't work, but after rebooting the phone and trying again it was succesfull
Anyway, thank you guys for trying to help.

Same experience on Allview P6 Stony (P6_0201_V1179 software build). This method works for me - similarly I had to run the script (and the reboot cycle) 2x before it had an effect.
As pointers for others, before you try this method you need to make sure you have ADB drivers installed. Trying to install stock google drivers didn't work at all for me, what worked for me was installing latest PdaNet drivers (pdanetZ350.exe) from here: junefabrics.com/android/download.php *
Don't forget to install OTA Rootkeeper app afterwards and run it once - hopefully saves you the hassle of rooting again if the P6 should receive an incremental update.
Enjoy, thanks Flapperbol!
(*= sorry Im not allowed to post links)
Version 18 also works
Just to let you guys know that version 18 of Root_with_restore works. I just the ADB drivers from the PDAnet install (which I cancelled after the drivers were installed) and the phone is now rooted!
Does anybody know how to get rid of those ugly allview icons? I hate those things.

you followed all the directions on how to install sdk and uninstall old drivers ect http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588608 again the last 3 pages here are about installing the sdk to get it to see ....like I said before if you have done this and follow through and not just looked at it and thought it might not work then there's probably no help for you. Sorry folks if you don't understand and know how to use this info..there is hardly no help for you because currently there is not a 1 click solution...besides a call to amazon.....
You have the JDK & Android SDK installed? Occasionally I had issues connecting to adb when recreating previous bootloops & soft bricks. It seems that it gets hung up in a stat that Windows doesn't like. The only way I could get adb to function at these times was to run a Linux distro or on a Linux machine. You can download the wubi installer for dual booting Unbuntu, which is what 99% of people that have had issues have done to regain adb access. Linux just seems to play better with Android & the Android SDK tools, which really isn't surprising.

NO. This is not an OMAP device & it does NOT use uBoot, so factory cable is useless. Try a different USB port. Also, if you installed Linux, you still have to install the Java JDK & the Android SDK. There are some guides for setting up a build environment, which is pretty much what you need to do to really be able to use the tools in Windows or Linux. Taske a look here: Setting up a build environment in Unbuntu
You don't need Python or Gnu, nor the modules, but you must sdet up the JDK & the SDK & then set the paths.

as I said maybe something will come through QPST
at least QPST detects Kindle HDX 8.9 (gray logo and then a black screen) with factory cable
I also lock the device after editing build.prop
but I lack the knowledge and skills to continue this way (in order not to kill the device)

Yeah, I don't read chinese & google doesn't do a very good job translating it, so, not gonna even try.
HOWEVER, I do know that you will need the Lab126 HSUSB driver. I don't remember if this was the one I used, but it was similarly named, I think this is for the BC radio stack diagnostic bulk mode originally & worked for the HDX. http://www.driverscape.com/download/lab126-hs-usb-diagnostics-0800-(com39)
Actually, I remember playing with this & thinking it could be useful for some of the early HDX issue I ran across too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142

You'll have to search around for it. Lab126 is the company that makes the HDX. That page only shows you the various driver names, the correct com port & identifies what device you want to see in device manager once you get QPST set up properly.

if kindle bricked (for example after a failure edit build.prop - gray logo and black screen), pc not detect device with standart microusb cable, driver can not be installed, adb not working.
but if use factory cable (buy or make), then the device connect as a usb bulk. you may install the first driver to it.
further steps to recovery does not exist yet
