Power Save Mode.
"Following on from our Xperia Android 2.3.4 review yesterday, we have been inundated with requests about certain widgets that were missing from other peoples builds. Therefore, by popular request we are providing three apk files. Two are for the new analogue clock and fancy timer widgets. The third is for the new ‘Power save mode’ app that currently only exists on the Xperia ray.
Installation is easy, just extract the rar file below and install each apk onto your handset. We tested all three apk’s on an Xperia arc still running Android 2.3.3 and they all worked without any problems."

it helps you easily activate your desired setting with one button when you are low on battery
Pretty much the app helps you gave more battery by turning off things that use more battery. E.g WiFi. And can set profiles.

Yeah, I agree, they come in handy.
DOUBT
Deos the power saver mode really works???
I mean i switch off wifi , bluetooth and data services when not in use, my NEO V battery lasts 24-30 hours depending on the usage. Will power saver really be helpful??? SetCPU or CPU tuner should work better by undercloaking to lower CPU frequency.
But cpu apps are not able control your wifi, data, GPS, Bluetooth....
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk 2 Beta-6
not so sure
Does power save mode app really helps? I mean you could always toggle wifi, BT, GPS and Data On and Off through a power widget right? or through settings. My Xperia Neo lasted for 8hours in standby mode at 9% battery without any powersaving apps. My battery lasted for almost 20Hrs with moderate texting and moderate wifi browsing.... I think all we need to do is to monitor connectivity apps like BT and wifi or even data and GPS to be turned off when not in use..
Yes, though using app you set it up only once, so you can't forget

I get it for the first time what widget you want but unfortunelly i don't know the name aswell.
Do a search here. I know that i've seen a post with all apk files. I think That post was written by x10user (or something)

Have you been running stock Sony ICS and found that it's very slow/laggy on your phone? :good: Annoyed about RAM issues? Think your device runs poorly on ICS?
Want an instant fix?
Settings/Developer Options/Background Process Limit/*Select* 2 Process Limit
This INSTANTLY improved my Sola, the speed and smooth movement through the phone with this setting is incredible. I spent many hours trying to change settings and look for more suggestions and amazingly this speeded up my phone. I can actually use ICS with fewer problems. I see 150MB RAM compared with 20MB a few days ago, even though I have the same apps and data.
This would reduce multitasking ability a little. I haven't found a problem but that's theoretically the compromise for this faster UI. Also note that this setting is *reset* after you restart your phone, so you will need to press this after a restart. If there's a way of overcoming this I'll post it.
IF you find your Sony device on ICS is running slowly, this may run well for you.
thanks a lot it helped

I'm glad. I'm absolutely sure it works for my device. One thing though, if you restart your phone, that setting is reset - so you need to press 2 process limit again.
I wonder can any more experienced users than I can recommend a tweak/script or something to do this at boot or something? Or some similar idea to take advantage of this?

Shows improvement in benchmarks too.( alot of improvement) .. Bt it is useful only for devices having 512mb ram...

I wonder is there a way of applying this setting to a ROM permenantly? If you select this setting and reset the phone, the setting is reset and the phone slows down, so you need to press 2 process limit once more. If we could apply this at boot or something...:victory:

Will let u knw if I find some tweak to make this permanent
Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
Now that I think about it, you can just about anything in Android, right? There must be a file we could modify to make this happen as standard. Any ROM devs for example might be able to help.
have you guys checked into your device's multitasking capability after set this stuff? this setting reduce your device multitasking capability alot.
Yes, this will definitely reduce multitasking ability a bit, that's the compromise. If you prefer more multitasking (I don't) then no need to try this.
I can't be sure of all the devices but definitely the Sola on ICS is embarassingly slow. If it were a custom ROM, few people would choose it, it's that slow for many of us. :crying:
Who wants multitasking?? I want speed
Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
Even if this is disabled. The multitasking still sux. Apps after calling to home are closed. If I reapply them from recent apps menu they are simply relaunched... this is not what we can call multitasking

What is developer options, how to access that
?
Sent from my ST25i using xda app-developers app
Well...that's depend on how manage our apps. With my lil tipo I could run my browser, messenger, and game at same time. Anyway, thanks for op for sharing this tips for us. Im still wondering how did this stuff work. I thought that it related with low memory killer stuff but after I checked into the coresponding values, nothing is changed. I wonder how could we make the setting permanent.
thanks man!
thanks man, it helped me a lot! Previously I was getting 60-70 MB of free ram, now I'm getting around 130 , thanks!
Most of the time I get 150mb+, 200+ is rare.

One way is turn off everything you dont use - data, wifi etc, brightness to a minimum.
The other way is to try custom roms.
First is disable data traffic when screen is off. This can be done by installing
Juice defender app, tasker app etc

Install an app such as Better Battery Stats or System Panel in order to figure out _what_ actually keeps draining your battery. This might be a bit of work but definitely worth the effort.

same problem in every rom/kernel combination
never found out what's causing it even with bbs and stuff
It's a difficult thing at times... On my device, I once had massive battery drains by Poweramps media scanner periodically running into trouble with a defective audio file, keeping the device active all the time. Took a while to find out about that. First guess, maybe, is to check what apps are running, which are set to automatically sync, that kind of stuff.

Coo, thanks. Wasn't aware of this app so far, but seems rather promising.
I know there's a lot of battery threads out there, I've been reading most of them but I got no help from them.
I recently updated my phone from ICS to JB, and now I'm running NeatROM and Siyah Kernel. And since the update I've noticed an abnormal battery drain. Just now, in 20 minutes, it has lost 3%.
Now, I'm not new to smartphones, so before you say, yes, I have done all the possible things to prevent the drain: Greenify, Wifi OFF, GPS OFF, Sync OFF, all OFF, battery saver mode, minimum brightness...
Actually now I'm using a generic 4300mAh battery from a friend and I only get a little more than a day. I'm using the phone but not in a hard way. Minimun time on wifi, some messages, one or two calls, and some internet surfing, not much.
Is it normal all this? Am I going mad? If you guys need any info/screenshots to maybe identify something please tell.
Thanks.
Usual fixes are go back to fully stock and see if it is still the same, if yes then replace the battery with a quality make, if still the same then probably a hardware fault.
Well, the change, as I said, was just after the change from ICS to JB, so I don't think it is any of those...

well then, try some battery monitor and check what's using the battery. use some task manager like ES Task Manager(for eg.) and stop all the background apps and manage start up apps. :good:

I've experienced almost the same issue, but I've installed some custom roms.
I am a fan of Wannam.
Try to install one of his roms (the latest) and check if that helps.

i found Google maps to be the biggest drainer... and if like me its installed to /system then greenify doesn't hibernate it... and those Damn network location updates nuke the battery in no time... convert to user app using titanium backup... Or remove from /system and reinstall from market... my battery lasts nearly two days after moving all Google bloat... greenify puts it all to sleep and phone doesn't wake up for anything except calls and texts... brill
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I will do that with maps. With which any other Google bloatware should I do the same?
Try using wake lock detector it really gives a nice info on what process is taking your battery .
You could also try changing the cpu scaling logic. This seems to give the best battery life enhancement.
Gtalk aswell

I think the battery is going better now. I wiped the internal sdcard and now I have 70% with 8 hours of phone. Is that normal?
EDIT
I mean with stock battery. Also, I limited the CPU from 1400 to 900 long time ago.
I have also extracted the external sd because lately it was giving problems like removing and mounting itself a lot...
OK, so I got like 25 hours with normal-low use. Is that average?

Use Boeffla-Kernel. Best kernel in my opinion. Close to stock, more stable, more batteryfriendly Kernel with customization abilities compared to Stock-Kernel.
And-the music- much better with this Kernel and 'eargasm' Equalizer-setting *-*

I tried that but I didn't notice any battery improvement. Also, Voodo Sound is so much better, in my opinion.
Without a custom kernel you can not apply any undervolting or change the cpu scaling logic Max frequency etc.
Try a custom kernel again but this time dont just leave it with the default settings . Change them . Remember you can always install voodoo sound on top of any other sound mod.
