Feels good to be back with an HTC phone. Had the OG EVO and went to Samsung for the Nexus S 4G and have had it since release day until today. Picked up a 3D off craigslist for $175. Couldn't stand the radio on the Nexus. Kept it just to see what Ice Cream Sandwich looks like. Feels good to be back!!!!!

Sold my evo3d and im on a photon, I miss the evo3d but now have an opportunity to get the sgs2 from a friend signing up for sprint. So I have my pick from any phone at store price, she can't afford the smart phones to shell get my photon.. Decisions decisions! Im half tempted to get the white evo3d. Reading a lot of threads the sgs2 seems like....well another Samsung pos.

Same typical Samsung flaws you'd expect, wonky GPS, grainy screen, cheap feeling. One good thing, the rooting and recovery flashinglooks like a piece of cake. Ill get one anyway if I don't like it I'm sure someone on Craigslist will be willing to trade for an EVO 3d.

Yup , that's right , Idk what's up with Samsung but their gps always have fail for me, oh well I ma wait to see for the holidays , I am jot getting a non qHD phone , it just looks weird after you have the EVO 3d and go back to the the regular resolution

Same story here. Evo 4G to Nexus S 4G to Motorola Photon and once I realized how terrible the development on the Photon was I traded for a 3d and am so happy to be back with HTC! You guys rock!

I had a photon also. Everything about the phone was 5 Star EXCEPT the Display. That alone made me put it back on craigslist..... Not enough colors.

haha! I feel ya man. I didn't even want to activate the 3d right away. I got my OG Evo sitting to my left on the nightstand though, playing some tunes for me. I couldn't bear to get rid of it, I'll at least have it for a backup, or to fall back on in a jam once the rooting and flashing starts, lol.

I just got my 3D this morning, and I keep looking over at my EVO longingly.
nothing against the Evo3D, it's kindof awesome, and playing with the 3D stuff is fun! )even converted a couple 2D pictures to 3D...ya know, for funsies.)
but, I missing flashing. I think I'm going to finally flash MIUI. watch, I'll regret never flashing it before.
You know, the OG has served me well. I had what I felt was the perfect ROM & kernel combo for me. I had t osell mine to Sprint to minimize out of pocket costs for the E3D. I actually said "bye bye" to it as it laid on the counter at the store. But, I look at it like upgrading car models. You're not abandoning the brand, just upgrading. Like going from a 2010 Mustang GT(with the 4.6 320hp V8) to a 2011 Mustang GT(with a 5.0 412hp V8)...a good thing made better. All without abandoning the brand!

Sprint don't care about root or if it works for that mater. I put together one from pieces I has laying around board with clean esn. 150 off the phone 300. Rebate phone cost 50 bucks. The 300 is. 150 upgrade and 150 rebate. Good luck

Although the new evo screen in sharp, I have to say I like the look of the evo screen better. I like the bigger look to it and the glossy screen. I'm sure I will get use to it but I have the 2 sitting side by side for the time being and it's much bigger on the evo.
Absolutely, dwntwnall4u, and I'm going back! Sorry, no buggy 3vo for me. Have one, down-trading tomorrow. I can't find ANYTHING I like more about the 3vo, except for its' questionable 3D effect. It'll get better (updated, upgraded) I'm sure. But for now......OG 4G (rooted) with Gingebread.

Better in a lot of ways but has problems of it's own. Ended up hating the galaxy as well. Well I wanted to come back to htc before catching wind of the S2
But I see in this forum of many build quality problems well scattered thought the device. Seems rushed product? Seems more faults then epic and evo together when released.
Just wanted to know what others feel.

Its definitely worth it if you get a good one. People act like its such a huge request to look at the phone prior to leaving the sprint store... If there is something wrong with the one they bring you, just tell them you want a different one.

I am on my second device (EVO 3D). I killed the first because I did a drunken swim (lil drunk right now in case this post doesn't make much sense ) and forgot it was in my pocket. The first had 1 dead pixel, only noticible when using an app to look for them and even then, I was the only one of the 3 people I asked who could actually see it. Other than that, the build quality on both phones has been outstanding. IMHO those who complain, for the most part, are those who would complain about just about anything and are looking for things to ***** about. The 3D is superior to the OG EVO in every way (with the exception of root). Is it the difference I had from my old Touch Diamond to my OG EVO, no, absolutely not. It is an evolutionary improvement with the added feature of 3D. I think the build quality of the 3D is night-and-day better than the build quality of the OG EVO, but that's just my opinion. Is it worth getting? I wouldn't go back to my old EVO, the decision is really to each his/her own.
I'm happy with mine too... Just that it lags pretty bad when scrolling in the market and some apps.... But I guess could be fixed by a update.

This is definitely an upgrade to my old EVO by a longshot. Is it perfect? No. Is it worth getting? Yes.
Sense 3.0 at its best, Camera is better, shutter button is a welcome addition, the screen is better, Stock speed is faster than EVO rooted, the graphics WOW, 1Gig RAM, a gig of UA storage & the 3D is fun as hell. It's one core alone is better & it has 2 of them. Most of the developers from the EVO 4G will develop for the EVO 3D.
I can cry about it not having permanent root but that's just a matter of patience.
You have 30 days to make that call for yourself, you might feel differently or even better about it.

What bigd said. I just took a video of my saltwater aquarium and it is mid boggling how beautiful the 3D effect is. On top of that this thing blows away my Nexus One hands down. May not be the best benchmark scorer, but it does what I want it to do and it does it very well!

Definitely worth it for me. I had my Evo 4G for less than a year, sold it for $240, and got the full upgrade price of $199 so it cost me nothing extra except one extra year on contract to get a better new phone.
I love the Evo 3D. And anyone who b*tches about it all the time cuz their screen is a lil bit yellow instead of white, or they got shipped with kingston instead of scan or w/e can just take it back n get the samsung instead and let the rest of us actually enjoy this beast. It's one of the best phones out there and the only 3D phone that is worth buying and that 3D feature got me laid, so STOP b*tchin. Not aimed at the thread starter.

After owning the EVO-3D for a month, I am really digging it, Sense 3.0 is growing on me, and the phone is no slouch, it is crazy fast, and the battery life is ****ing amazingly better than my rooted and ROM'd EVO 4G. At first I wasn't so impressed with this new phone over my ROM'd EVO 4G, but now I am liking it more and more. And it's still stuck in lame stock mode, just wait...
But I keep reading all over the net how awesome the Samsung Galaxy S2 is, and it's the best device on the market right now, etc..nothing comes close to it, blah...blah...blah...
I think once the 3VO gets root, and the custom ROM's start popping up, it will be the better device or easily just as good as the Galaxy S2 ? Plus it looks like here in the U.S. we might be getting a crippled S2, instead will be a dual core Infuse 4G with Gingerbread, as opposed to the real true Galaxy S2 in Europe.

It's cool. Sorry I posted this thread here. I was trying to make a point, defending the EVO-3D, because I normally see people bashing the 3D as a gimick.
Take the 3D away, and this phone is still a beast and one of the top Android devices of 2011. 1.2ghz dual core...1gb RAM...high resolution screen...Sense 3.0...etc...

well evo 3d is nice, but there's this hudge problem with htc. whenever they make a phone a 1st it comes out with full of bugs + they will promise you bunch of accsessories that they will never make and at the end consumer is the one in the hole, because we trusted them. Don't get me wrong I love my evo 3d, but I don't want to by MHL adaptor from T-mobile and I want a normal cable, and I want the HTC's promised kickstand case that they fkt everyone on I hate bolky cases that make already big phone look like some old satelite phone. so far I think is Motorola is ahead of everybody. they update there phones first to latest android version, they have bunch of grate accessories like multimedia docks with remote controls, laptop dock, cases, cables and more. and the lates phones hardware is pritty impresive as well. so as much as I like my evo 3d I think it is a last one I will ever get. I bought my phone on june 24th so there's no 30 day mbg for me, but I thing Ill just pay full price and get that motorola photon on july 31th. sorry had to get that out of my system I bought only htc's for past 5-6 years but just got tired of geting jurked around by them.
I think a lot of it is just the next new thing fever. It will happen every time a big release comes out. I love my 3d too but as a gadget freak I enjoy seeing what is coming out and I would own them all if I could

I thought that I was completely sold on the thought of getting a 3VO. That was until I found out about the Within (Galaxy II), now I have all kinds of doubts. To make matters worse, now I've learned about the Nexus Prime. The only problem is that there is no real info about the Prime, it all seems to rumors for now. Lets get this conversation going. How does everyone feel about this?
I feel like whenever someone says "3VO", a cat gets killed. SGSII and 3D are both great phones. It don't matter which one to me.

Its not called the Within anymore. It'll be called the Epic Touch 4G. And it might have a Qualcomm chip, not a hummingbird. (Or whatever the current SGS2 has.) So.. especially.... We aren't getting the SGS2

I face a similar dilemma. BUT, I was impatient and picked up a 3VO yesterday. Now, I've never messed around with the galaxy s2, but holy crap the 3VO is awesome. I rooted of course (couldn't help myself) and have installed custom roms and a kernel which lets me oc until about 1.8 (stable). The phone is incredible. I figure IF the samsung galaxy s2 comes out within the next 30 days and it's as good as I've heard, I can always return this bad boy and get one.
For now though, I'm VERY happy with my purchase. Although the 3D thing has been described as a gimmick, it's a very cool one and I'd be lying if I said I don't get a kick out of it (especially in games).
As for the Prime, not enough solid info on it yet. We'll see.

3d? are you talking about the lg opitimus 3d or Hauwei's new 3d. 3VO makes it easy to idenitify out phone, you should have voted in the poll to decide the nick name of the 3VO.
Op you can't really go wrong with either one. I would suggest to wait till the within is released and go hold both in your hand. And go play with the 3d on a friends phone to see if you like it. Don't make your decision based on the 3d pics the phone takes, look youtube 3d. I personally have hated how every samsung phone has felt in my hand.

I do not buy on impulse alone. I like to make well informed decisions on my buys. I take all opinions, put them together with mines, and hopefully make a decision I can live with.
The sgs2 will probably not get as much development work done as the epic touch. It will end up probably being as bad as the original epic.

Seriously. I think it's easiest to identify it by calling it the Evo 3D, cuz, well, after all...that's what it's fncking called already.
3vo, guh, "three-vo"... and what's the Evo 4G now, the OGvo?
I'd be curious to know the demographics involved in who would prefer to call it the E3D/Evo 3D vs who wants to call it the "3vo." No doubt it would be very telling.
I mean, just look at it ---> 3vo <--- It looks like a ballsack or a butt resting on an open book...I dunno....

I would be shocked if it had a Qualcomm chip in it, though I have heard rumors of a watered down Tegra2 American version...none have been founded, and a Qualcomm chip is even more absurd of an idea....
For development, features & faster software updates. Go with the EVO 3D.
For Specs, NFC & an a colorful screen you have the Samsung.
It's hard to talk about a phone that isn't even stateside yet. Samsung has a bad track record .vs HTC.

EVO was a bad seller.unpopular and no community.Sensation on the other hand is goiing to get ICS with sense 4 shortly and will be getting another firmware upd ateafter ICS but the EVO will only get ICS later on in the year and will be the last update whilst being heavier and has a pointless meaninless 3d,

Sense 3.6 not 4.0 on the sensation BTW. This confirmed by Jeff Gordon in a recent interview, who is in charge of global communications for HTC...also the guy is around this site too and posts some.
If 3D is pointless to you and you want to knock the device then why get it in the first place.
To the OP that choice is up to u as everyone has their own belief on it. It's like saying if u should get HTC or Samsung phone...endless debate and only one opinion matters and that's ur own.

I wish I woulda went with the sensation. Most of my favorite devs from the DHD/Inspire are on there.
Not to take away from the devs here. Their great. Just not nearly as many.
Seems more leaks are functionable on the sensation too.

Just to put this out there, I'm keeping my EVO 3D after I get my next phone in June. I like it, flat out.
I do love the phone itself. Just the amount of devs on the sensation makes me envious. The only thing I don't like bout the evo is spotty wimax.

That's a question for you to answer yourself. We can't tell you whether or not you like your phone. Me? I like this phone. It doesn't have the same impact as the OG Evo did on me (that being my first ever decent phone) but it's still a pretty solid phone. Been able to run ICS on it since I got it after the New Year. I see very little wrong with this phone.
Devs for the Evo are better. 'nuff said. Yeah. Thats right. I said at it. And I'm a badass too. Come at me.

This is a true statement. Some of the devs have been with us for a while being that they've stayed with Sprint all this time. We start getting to know everyone.

Everything in this post, except for the timeframe of ICS updates, is so untrue. Just saying.
I was drawn to EVO 3d becouse of its design, like it more than Sensation. Having 1gb of rom, opposite to Sensations 768mb, was a one more reason to have it. Not to mention that it should be HTC's flag ship. When all started heading down hill, seed of doubt was planted. Wanted to hear other people opinions.

Love my evo, just not happy with sprints data speeds in my area, sensation is getting ics sooner which doesnt make since to me, what do i know though. I never really use the 3d feature. Sprint has some catching up to do service wise. If i was in the market now for a new phone and carrier, i would look elsewhere. Im not hating sprint or evo. Dont take it that way. In my area, dataspeeds are horrible, may be ok for you though if your in a major metro area.

The 1gb of RAM compared to the sensations 768Mb did it for me. Usually its not a huge deal...but c'mon we're talking about two sense phones here lol.
I personally do like the 3D feature of the device two, pretty much to the point so far where I might only purchase another phone if it had 3D (which is unlikely since im a minority)
If I were you, I'd get the Sensation because it has a bigger user base = more devs.

Go where there is a more robust developing community. Not bashing anybody who develops on this phone since they made my EVO 3D a beast, but I realized that huge International phones like the Sensation and GSII are miles ahead in getting things done.
Guys, why did some of you buy the Evo 3D first hand at all - if not of for the 3D?
THAT should've been the main reason - best 3D compared to any other phone, and good overall performance for everything else (save the battery ). I was "back then" really drawn to the Sensation, but it had NO 3D. I'd have almost bought the LG, but luckily was saved by HTC
I never expected it to catch on, because the people apparently see 3D only as a gimmick (sic!), and a low priority one as that..."3D? Uh, yeah, cool... but does it play Angry Birds? Show me!"...
So, lessons learned: Next time buy the phone you need... I hope my 3D stays with me a long time.

Because of the hardware inside, not the screen, or sense. Well at least for me, it was the best option when going the price to performance route.
