[Q] Kindle app to display sideloaded cover art. - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't get the kindle app to see side loaded cover art, it sees the books just fine which are .mobi format the side loaded cover is a jpeg but the cover art for one I actually downloaded from the store is not. Anyone know how to get the app to see the jpeg as cover art? In the app the downloaded covers are stored in a separate folder.

Mediascape not showing/using Album Art

I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem and/or knows how to fix it.
I can see in Media Go that an album/song has album art attached to it (I can even see that there is album art in Windows explorer and iTunes). I've tried deleting/adding the art via 3rd party mp3 tagging software but that doesn't seam to make a difference.
I've tried copying the music using Media Go and dragging and dropping onto the memory card but the art still doesn't show on the phone. The funny thing is that it's not all albums, just a 'select' few.
I've also tried downloading the art via the phone itself however it either can't find the art or it's wrong.
Anyone know how to fix this?
I believe it has something to do with the aspect ratio of the album art. if it isn't a perfect square (500x500 or 450x450 for example) mediascape will not recognize the album art.
Thanks for the response, I've checked and that doesn't seam to be the case (some art which shows is not square and some art which doesn't show is square).
Also when Mediascape searches for album art it sometimes finds (wrong) old shaped album covers.
Any other ideas?
I had a problem like this before. Try this.
Go to your SD card and there's a folder called "albumthumbs" which stores a cached version of all the album covers. Delete all the files in this folder. Mediascape will then re-cache with all your updated album covers.
It fixed most of my albums but there are still a few that aren't right.
Hope that helps.
Nope, that didn't work either, in fact not the are more albums without art!
I had the same issue. I've not figured the reason, but I've worked around it removing the album art and adding it again with Mp3tag.
Did you try the "retrieve the album art" feature of mediascape ? (reading your post it's unclear whether or not you know about the feature)
It's really simple, just get a wi-fi connection, and it'll automatically read the album tags to get the proper album art.
I know it worked perfectly for me, also the phone didn't show any of the album art (even though some of my tracks had one) before doing that.
I tried re tagging my tracks with (Easy CD-DA Extractor) still no luck. Every single other player on my PC, stereo, Car etc. can read the the album art but not mediascape
This is my trick:
1. Clear all unnecessary tag from the file (eg: using eyeD3).
2. Inject album art to the file (eg: using albumart-qt).
3. Copy the file back to device.
4. Remove all Mediascape cache data (from Manage Apps menu).
5. Restart the device.
All the tools I use is running on Linux, but I'm sure there's counterpart tool on other platform.

I sprung for the album art grabber app from the market. It allows you search the net or add art from the SD card.

Tried this and no luck, either it couldn't find the album art or it was totally wrong (it looks like it searches by artist rather than by album).

I will look into this, I'm running Win 7 but I'm sure I can try the same process.

I'll give this a go also.
I've email Sony Ericsson support, I doubt I'll get a usefull answer but if I do I'll share it with the forum.
Thanks all!
UPDATE: Baggyb your trick with album art grabber app worked a charm.
Many thanks!
Sorry for the bump, but I might have found something that could help aswell.
I had the same problem. Mediascape wasn't able to put the correct album art on the songs I had on my X10.
Every other mediaplayer showed the correct album art, except for Mediascape.
Apparently all I had to do was add the song name at the album name and all of a sudden the correct album art was shown.
With Media Go that's quite easy.
Just put your songs in the map "music" of your X10 and go to Media Go.
Select the tab "Music" (@Phone Card) and you'll see your music currently on your X10.
Select a song and go to properties.
Click on the tab "artwork".
Add the albumart of your choice.
Then go to the tab "music" of properties.
Copy the title of the song and paste it @ "Album"
And you're done.
Seems a hassle to do this at every song, but it works so for me it was worth it.
Sony really makes it a hassle to put album art into the songs, they should come up with a solution and tell us the consumer in their user manual. The user manual really sucks as there is not much detail info into the product itself...
Just toss the correct album art into the album folder and name it albumart.jpg . It's very simple and works 100% for me.

DO you have only new music btw?
I noticed that the Retrieve Album Art feature in Mediascape takes a few days to get the latest album covers... for example The Final Frontier album cover was only added a couple of days ago...
Ok. I also fond of tagging all my mp3 with album arts. Have wasted like all days long just to make it looks very nice in MediaScape And now currently, all my songs shows album arts in MediaScape.
Always use MediaGo for managing your mp3, also i don't even bother where they put the mp3 in sdcard. I already passed the "organize things in folder manually" life after i struggle to organize my 4TB stuff in separate hard drives
Second is to assign the album art to Album Properties instead of individual songs.
For songs that you already transfer to X10 without Album Art, by adding album art to Media Go and do the transfer again won't update the album art in timescape. You go and delete the content of albumthumbs in sdcard, then it will usually work.
No rules about dimension ratio and resolution for album arts.
Possible Solution
I have a SE Xperia Mini Pro.
I discovered the same problem. Album art would not display for Albums previously copied. (This was after spending 3 days sorting out Media Go with Art!!!)
I found a fix using an App called "Album Art Grabber".
Once I run it on the phone, it automatically finds the album art linked in the MP3 file. Once I run media scape the art has reappeared. Appears to work.

[Q] Album Cover Art is blurry?

Hello forumers,
I recently transferred my songs to my Galaxy S II, but the album cover is all blurred out and looks horrible! I used iTunes when I was still using my iPod Touch and they all look great. I usually use album art cover size 500x500 and copy and paste on Windows Media Player and also sync my phone through there and not KIES, since KIES seems randomly erase information about the song e.g. Artists. I do not know how to fix this problem about the cover art... Can someone please point me to the write direction? Much appreciated!
EDIT: I have also tried MixZing(always freezes), Dualtwist Player, and the stock Google Music App, but they all look blurry and the same.

[Q] Making the stock music player recognize all album art

Hi,
I'm using Banshee from ubuntu to put music on my phone. I have the .is_audio_player file in the root directory of the sdcard, and it tells banshee that it expects the files in the form of AlbumArt.jpg
Once the music is copied however, only some of it has a corresponding album art, that is displayed in the music app. However, all albums have AlbumArt.jpg in them. I've tried to open a few covers that are not shown in the music app, just to see that they are not corrupt, but they open just fine.
Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on? It seems to me that the app is just picking album art at random for displaying.

Added a picture to Google Music but how?

How did I add a picture to Google music on my Prime? It was a picture of my girlfriend that was in the photo gallery, I downloaded an audio bible free and somehow set an unrelated picture as the album art. Does anyone know how this happened? I would love to add my own pictures to the album art that I'm missing.
I opened the picture of my girlfriend on my prime and then downloaded the bible from my laptop. and somehow that is the album art.
Adding the picture to the folder where the music file is should be enough. If not, renaming to 'AlbumArt.jpg' should do the trick. Of course only in case you have music in folders, otherwise it is possible to add album art into ID3 tags of MP3 files (use google to find how)
there is an app for that I use an app called cover art downloader. Its free on google market and will download and install missing cover art for your music cd collection. Good luck

Disable/Delete or Replace default Album Art

Hey,
I havn't come accross a way to disable album art in the default music player.
Is there a way? All the default ones are absolutely hideous.
Does anyone know the path to the images? I'm rooted so i could replace them myself.
Thank you.
I don't know the specific location, but have a look into the free app Album Art Grabber. It lets you choose new album art from lastfm, musicbrainz or your SD card. I just used it to update all my album art and it did all the well known ones automatically, and then for my more obscure music or stuff not in proper albums, I just did those myself manually.

I copied a few folders containing FLAC music files and album art on to the SD card.
The SG3 eventually discovered and used some of my images, but it doesn't seem to use the jpegs called Folder.jpg or folder.jpg, but instead it's (apparently) randomly picking a different image, albeit from the correct folder.
I have usually found that the main album art image should be titled "folder.jpg" for the most universal compatibility with different music players, so I'm puzzled that the SG3 seems to studiously ignore it!
Could my album art files be too large? I've not experimented much yet.
Ideas welcome!
Thanks
Well maybe it's because of the size, I don't have to name it folder.jpg it just takes the 1st image on the folder I think. I just copied my music on my GS3 and I have some folder with covers and I noticed it always takes the 1st pic as album cover, for example I have Front.JPG Front2.JPG Front3.JPG and Front4.JPG and it is displaying Front.JPG as cover, on another folder I have Lady GaGa-The Fame [Front].jpg Lady GaGa-The Fame [CD].jpg and Lady GaGa-The Fame [Back].jpg and it is displaying Lady GaGa-The Fame [Front].jpg just try to name it cover.jpg and it should work imo, if it doesn't work try to reduce the image size to see if there is a limit.
Well, I deleted all the album art that I DIDN'T want from the music folders in the SD Card (just leaving the cover images), but the wretched wrong images remained showing in the music player!
SO I went to the Applications Manager (under "settings") then to "Media Storage", cleared the cache there and restarted the phone.
Sure enough, the correct album art now shows. Much happier!

I'm glad you found out, thanks for sharing.
Power Amp will give you complete control over such things and is probably a better solution than the stock player to boot, for local files anyways...
That being said I use an app, forget what it's called, MP3Tag that lets you embed your own images in your mp3 files and you never have to worry about images being wrong again as long as the music app you use is configurable so that it won't try to get it's own art. .....any of them worth a crap are...
