[Q]Transfering backup to another SGA - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Let's say I have a spare SGA(rooted), if I do a full backup using CWM of my current SGA will I be able to restore it on the other SGA device?
If that is the case, what is the requirement?
The reason why I'm asking this this is to skip installing my tweaks/rom once again. (+my settings)
Thanks in advance.

Just install CWM on that Ace , then use the same sdcard to restore

Thanks for the confirmation!

It`s another way to make a restore if I did a backup with CWM?
What did you backup ???
On what phone and what app to backup .
What CWM recovery are you using .
or are you trying to restore a backup from a different phone ??
Post is rather confusing .

MD5 is a way to control a TAR file.
It will missmath as well if you try to access the file via 7-Zip for instance.
Try to find same file elseware from the web, or excrtact end rebuild a direct tar file.
Good luck
I don't like CWM4 on CF-root
The reason i don't like it is: It makes the recovery disappear after about a day of use, Then i have to reflash, i don't want to do that.
CWM removes it's self for me
The thing i don't like about CF-Root, is and this may be my fault, It freezes some of my rooted apps that freeze bloatware (Easy Freezy) and it also removes the custom recovery by it's self
When i go into the app and click reboot recovery, it boot into Android system recovery.
I then have to reflash in order to get ClockworkMod back.
This other Root meathord: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414
Does NOT freeze some rooted apps like Easy Freezy and Adfree like CF root does for some reason.
Help would be appreciated,
Thanks.

Your nandroid backups should be located under... clockworkmod/backup/"YYYY-MM-DD.HH.MM.SS"
Your backup(s) should be in a folder with the format above as in date and time.

If there are multipe folders under "backups" with different time and dates then those will be all the nandroid backups you have made so far with the most recent one being the one with the newest date and time while the old backups are the ones with the older dates. What do you plan on doing? are you trying to restore to stock 2.1?

Not exactly sure if your phones nandroids will work with your gf's phone. I recommend you create a seperate nandroid on her device just to be safe. Thats if that phone is rooted otherwise disregard what i have said.

Oh i see now. I Forgot about that. Excellent point but technically you are rooted. That update.zip you flashed in stock recovery (reinstall packages) edited some of the system files on your phone in the process and gave you superuser rights or "root" access. So you are rooted just so you know.

that good to know but the funny part is that it maybe root it but does not show on the phone no ninja or paired android. Btw will superoneclick(i know other ways to get root but that is by far the fastest and I just one to get that part done quick so I can move to backup and flash ) work on 2.2... I told her not to upgrade but she did not lisen to me :-(

yes but how do i install the mods just download the zip file and flash through cwm?
i have a fantastic answer for you...
if you flash a new custom rom and then you want to restore all the settings from the old one, you can go in Cwm mode > Backup and restore > Advanced restore > restore DATA...
in this way you restore only the app and the configuration of system...
i hope i help you!
so the app and the configuration from the old rom will be in the new rom ..??? .. wow! thank you for your answer!

Exercise caution doing this
Always make one before flashing.
Remember that full backups take a lot of space. Download titanium backup and backup user apps and their data, delete them and then make a nandroid backup. Takes less space and its a lot faster.
I curently have 2 backups. My stock ROM and a curently used custom ROM. Once my custom ROM is updated I delete the backup of the custom ROM, I update it, then make another Nandroid backup with the updated version that way it saves me a lot of space.

Its better to set you phone manually than to brick it due to lack of time, or doing it manually.
Stick with the basics, basics dont get your phone bricked. Trust me

I have restored data with no problem using Data only Nandroid backups for years .
But i always only restore data to a same build rom that is no restore of ICS to JB and no restore of KLP to JB .
On PC original factory rom + Nandroid copy of last known full working custom rom .
Worked on custom roms are backed up to ext sd card .
Worst problem i ever have is usually if i wipe something without thinking clear Nandroid backups and forget to update . Even then its only a stock rom Odin flash to start again .

In TiBu (Titanium Backup) just back up user apss (like facebook, twitter, games, apps downloaded through GooglePlay Store)
Run a batch backing up user apps and then from System>Apps uninstal all of them but TiBu. Just like that once you've returned from making the backup, open TiBu and select backups/restore tab in the top section again and press the menu/options softkey. Select Batch and then Restore all missing user apps.
No need to make a .zip file, not flashable through recovery.

You have to use cwm recovery for taking and restoring nandroid backup or u may use titanium backup, rom toolbox etc for taking backup of individual app and app data.

You dont need to flash a new rom.Just boot to recovery,do a factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and reboot.
