Motorola Atrix running latest cherry pi rom..
Trying to use the push function of IM+ or Beejive...they both use the C2DM functionality.
Nothing gets pushed to my phone when I exit the app, I run my own jabber server so I can see that the service is still connected to my account.
I tried chrome to phone, which is what google reccommends to test C2DM, and it works normally. So C2DM appears to be working on my device...
I did notice when I installed Chrome to Phone on my atrix it asked me for access to my google account, but neither of the IM apps did this....not sure what the problem is..
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm on stock 2.2 without any Root. I can't connect either to android market or to any google apps like gmail, gtalk etc. There isn't any issue with my data plan as i can browse the net and using twitter and Facebook flawlessly. As i am newbie in this android bandwagon i don't know if it is required to have any specific configuration for google apps and market?
Gmail
I think you have to register your GMail account first to use the GTalk & Market app.
ya i tried to register in the market app via handset.. popup shows it requires to have around 5 minute to connect to google server..then error message showing that cannot connect to server..It may be an issue with my operator? but then i can browse the net and use FB and twitter.
" can't establish a reliable data connection to the server" this is the error message poping up while i tried gmail, gtalk, and market app.
Wi-Fi
If you get the chance, try using Wi-Fi first just to register your GMail account.
My issue is solved...this is what i did:
Settings-accounts & sync then ticked the auto sync option..
Now every thing working perfectly...
My Google talk is not set to "Automatically sign in" however, when I open the app it signs in automatically.
Just curious if anyone has a possible fix?
Thanks!

"Automatically sign in" is for signing i automatically when the fone starts or when connectivity is established.
it is not like a desktop application since the app is linked to the gmail account on your fone.
alternatively you can choose nimbuzz as an IM client if you dont want to sign in always with the same credentials..
The one thing I was trying to do was make it so it doesn't show that I am always available. No matter if I log out or kill the app it always shows that I am available on gtalk.
Is there a solution to this?
Have you considered meebo or another app instead of using talk? I don't use chat apps but it might do what you are looking for.
I use ebuddy, but that is besides the point.
Here is the thing- since the gtalk is set up with the original google account (the one when you originally set up the phone) it does not let you delete that account off gtalk. But on top of that, no matter what I do i.e. sign out or kill the gtalk app (and even if it shows gtalk is not running), it always shows that I am available and never truly logs me out.
So with the original google account on the phone, I am now always available on gtalk and I can never log out- just really bothers me. Anyone have solution?
Thanks
Looks like the always available is an ongoing problem, I haven't found a solution yet...

Got it so ebuddy is no longer holding my gtalk hostage (I no longer show always available). I used the solution at the end of this forum:

wow, no one has this problem or any advice?
This has been bugging me for the past days and I can't wrap my head around it.
OS: Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0, stock, not rooted.
Phone: : LG L5
There have been no updates done to the phone or its applications, nor has there been any chagnes made to the login/password prior to this issue first appearing. 2-step verification hasn't been enabled.
After running the Talk app it will, seems to log in (it doesn't throw any errors), change the screens to the one where the contact list is, and keep loading it indefinitely. The status can't be changed, as it is loading. At the same time, google chat works on a laptop through an unofficial client, works as part of gmail too. It seems to have the same issues with another android google talk client (Xabber - loads indifinetely, but doesn't report bad login/password). Both laptop and phone are connected to the same wifi network.
What has been done thus far with no success:
1. Cleaning the cache/data of the Talk app
2. Cleaning the cache of the Market app
3. Restarting the phone with battery removal
4. Stopping the Talk service and restarting it
5. Logging out of Talk on the laptop
What is the most worrying is the fact that from this phone I cannot log into another gtalk account through any other client.
At the same time, I can use another phone and client to succesfully log into LGs 'native' google account (the one that is working on the laptop, but gives trouble through android).
I followed steps in this thread almost to the letter (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909996) installed Gemini App Manager, BBS, LBE Security and Titanium Backup Pro to freez app. listed in this list (https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...1gdDJRekl4QmkyNmIzUmRvX2h3UDVkQXc&output=html) as SAFE to freez but I must have disabled something I don’t know what but I’m not getting push notifications from gmail app., fb messenger app., etc…. So if someone could tell me which process is controlling push services.
I'm on stock 4.0.4 ROM, rooted...
Baseband I9100XXLQ6, build nr. ...XWLPY
Thanks.
check if sync is enabled in settings
Sorry forgot to mention that everything works OK when connected to WiFi, but not when connected to 3G....
sync is enabled, and all app. like gmail and fb messenger are NOT blocked to use mobile data.
hmm
I am having the same exact issue. no help for this problem?

Thankyou, but didn't help. It seems that via mobile data, all that works is the browser, google play and facebook(without push). Gtalk, viber, teamviewer, mail, and any other push notifications just won't work.
Reedit: SOLVED!. After/before installing the FIX, Users should also check the access points used for internet service. My service provider has 3 access pint: Net, MMs, Wap. MMS was initialy selected, through that service, push and other servers are unavailable.
