I don't have this phone but my friend does, well he has the Optimus S. Are they the same phone? Can I use ROMs and rooting stuff for they V on the S? Thanks in advance for your reply

AFAIK the only difference between S and V is the carrier.
Optimus V is Virgin Mobile (Which is actually a daughter company of Sprint)
and Optimus S is Sprint.
They are both CDMA so they can both use the same ROMs.
Correct me if I'm wrong, anybody?

I think there are small differences, such as button mapping. IHO has a special Optimus S CM7 ROM, so don't worry, your friend can have some Cyanogen on his phone too
Might be a noob question.. apologies if it was one.
I have the LGOG unlocked with tmobile.. when att eventually releases a sw upgrade i know that i wont receive it over the air.
My question is that is it possible to get the update (when its available ) by swapping in a att sim card till the upgrade is finished ? Or is it like they check if the sim card has a purchase history or contract with att

I change my SIM card via different phones all the time, and I have no issues getting updates on the respective phones. No AT&T does not check for purchase history.

Hi everyone have the Verizon lg lucid 4G lte and they recently updated the Os to ics from 2.3.6. It said online to go to about phone under settings and check for update every time I do this it checks and says error. Now my lucid isn't actually activated by Verizon anymore but was at one point and I'm not sure if that is the reason why. If some one anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.

Have a look here
I did the check for update and it doesn't find one and just says unable and error but I know there is. Software update for this model clearly do you think it won't work because I don't actually have a plan with Verizon my device is pretty much a wifi device right now or does that have nothing to do with it?

EDIT: LG HAS PAUSED THE UPDATE DUE TO POOR BATTERY LIFE AND APP FORCE CLOSES...
It should be arriving soon according to the page! Here is the pic,
IF ANYONE HAS RECIVED THIS UPDATE PLEASE POST THAT YOU HAVE RECIVED IT...
PEOPLE WHO HAVE RECIVED THE UPDATE PLEASE TELL US IF YOU WERE ROOTED, and share all the new goodies that come with it
According to Mars11_, T-Mobile is updating by manufacture date.
Even though our p769 was at the end of the line of other L9 variants, for a phone that was just released at the end of last year, 4.1 came pretty fast. Good job LG. Sucks for HTC One S owners on T-Mobile
Wonder if it make it easier to unlock bootloader or if it will close exploits.

Usually they release it in waves so servers don't crash. If anyone can provide a manual download link that'll be cool...

Anxiously waiting! Same for me too, checking ota shows its up to date. Can anyone confirm actually getting it today?

Not to sound like I'm complaining but.. kind of amusing how we're happy with a version of Android that's been out for almost a year already. I'm glad to see that LG is providing a pretty quick update for a non flagship device. Can't wait to try some Google Now action
If you receive this update please upload the zip file for everyone else before applying it. The file should be located on the internal SD.
Be aware that this may disable and block root.
It's a hoax

I called T-Mobile and got in contact with a tech, according to them the roll out begins tomorrow and, if this guy knew what he was talking about, people with straight talk sims will also be getting the OTA update.
I have a family mobile SIM. Shouldn't matter though.

I'm guessing that given the update is specifically for the T-Mobile L9 variant T-Mobile decided to push the update back a day, I don't think LG can control when it goes out over T-Mobiles network.
Congrats guys, this means pretty much all L9s have a 4.1 update now. I'm sure P778 will be next.
Hopefully more revisions come out for the P768, the V20A is our only version and it's bloated.

I'm kinda with you, nick. Untill I see it on my device, which I flashed back to stock just in case, I'm not gonna believe it's anything more than t-mobile messing with our heads.
They updated the help documentation on t mobile for the l9 to jelly bean

Hahahaha! Firmware update hahahaha.... No one will get it coz its LG
LG G2
Its only because i believe 4.4 is due to be pushed out end of Nov early Dec.
Im assuming they have had the firmware for a while as they made the nexus 5.
I believe the model of g2 im getting is D802
Would you know though if the firmware updates if indeed they did come, would be received if pushing to UK ?

It has to do with your phone model. Not which country your in. The d802is international. So when LG releases for that model you'll get it.
My phone was probably made over seas, and I'm in the US. Has no impact on when I will get an update.

I think he is refering to LG being the slowest smarphone maker to put out updates.

Chances are that we are going to see very few updates from LG.

As long as they do some patches to fix bugs and maybe update it one or two times, I'm happy. This phone is so much better than any other phone I have owned till now. I am pretty happy with it as it is now.
