I have to say this
when i had build 3.0.xxx my gps worked very well, stable signal during many hours of navigation (i use sygic)
then, with build 4.0.xxx, is a very disaster
the phone loose the signal few times in 15 minutes, so so bad
and withouth reason
the signal is very strong, 6-7 satellites with nice reception, but in a while no more signal, then it fix again after 5 seconds
this is no possible, an hardware issue will be always present i think
so what can be? have you experience this with firmware 4.0.xxx ?
GPS lock performance is very dependant on you clearing cache and user data... then updating. There is nothing wrong with the new 2.3.4 or 2.3.3 firmware regarding GPS - it is very good indeed.
Have used GPS in the city and also in the country and have no issues with it on 2.3.4 on my neo, maybe do a reflash or something, clean install and see if the issues are still there with the gps? good luck man.

MIUI 1.9.16
ROM: ED05
Kernel: Glitch v12 HL (9/22/11)
Glitch 9/22/11 has been a HUGE improvement on my phone's speed, stability and smoothness. However, I'm still getting quite a lag time (3-5 min.) before the Fascinate connects to the satellites when using GPS for navigation.
I'm currently looking at Radio EC09.
Are there any recommendations or thoughts?
Do you leave your GPS on all the time? I've found my GPS takes a lot longer to lock if I was only turning it on When I need it. Now I leave it on all the time and most of the time it locks fairly quickly. Some people have better luck with E05, personally my GPS is better on EC09.
Yes. GPS is always left on. I am constantly using GPS to show specific locations as well as Latitude with family and friends.
My fascinate locks a bit quicker than my wife's with the exact same set up. And hers takes more time than mine to find Satellites. She has gone 10-15 min. without it ever finding a satellite lock.

Decided to Odin EC09 radio.
First GPS lock was nearly instantainiously; however, following uses were not as quick. I'll test it out today and report my findings.
I have tried just about every GPS fix/tweak out there. It seems like everything works well once or twice. Maybe the placebo effect. After a day or two it is always back to the random lock times of seconds to minutes. I have had the best overall luck with the PWGB rom. 9 out of ten times it locks in under a minute which seems to be the best my phone will do.

thats because things get out of wack like the compass or need to be updated like agps data. if youve tried the GPS fixes out there like downloading the gps.conf file from powerwash/geewiz and deleting gps files in miui (not sure about others) then always check out the compass/agps if you arent getting a quick lock.
I usually use GPS status to check it and it downloads AGPS data. I've heard the compass can be a problem but I have seen my phone GPS lock in a few seconds with the compass reading WAY off and I have also seen it take several minutes when the compass is perfect. Seems to be no pattern on my phone.
I have been on EH09 since it came out. Now on PWGB latest version it has consistenly locked quickly since flashing.
Hi,
Basically the wanam KPA works excelent but with one issue for me, that is the 3G data.
After few minutes of use it, the data is losing, the 3G icon still there but with out data, if I turn on the wifi and after that turn it off, the 3G icon never retun.
I reflased several times, full and clean reflash (format system, data, cache, etc.)
I read some other user have the same kind of issues with KPA roms not only the Wanam.
Almos forgot, I reflash diferent modemos like KP8, KL1, without succesful.
Its questions = Q&A
Its a Beta test rom bugs expected especially wait for the official release .
jje
This is also basically "known" now.
This is why I always hate people who ask about a new builds stability after only 1hr or battery life after 30mins! LOL It took me 3hrs or so to get to this issue myself because I was at work the whole time and therefore didn't change towers till i left. That's when the RIL issue kicks in.
Hi Guys,
i come from the Moto Stock Rom and have flashed Neutrino 2.6EE few days ago.
Now i've got a little issue with the Wifi Connection.
When I unlock the phone and a known wifi (home and work) is in reach, it takes about one minute until the connection is established.
With the stock rom ist takes only a couple of seconds.
When i go into the wifi settings while waiting, the connection will be established immediately.
Does anyone know a solution?
European Atrix
Wifi-Standby: off when display is off
Rom: Neutrino 2.6EE
Baseband: N_01.100.00R
I also have this issue with every CM7 ROM. I believe it is a bug present in all CM7 based ROM. Flashing a new radio or reflashing your old one may fix this issue, but I haven't tried it because I cannot find a working link to the N_01.77.30p radio for a backup in case of failure in the flashing of a more recent one. If anyone could provide a CWM flashable N_01.77.30p radio I could begin testing to fix this problem.

Me too, I used to experience the same problem with older versions of the Neutrino ROM but this new version is working flawlessly. Only one thing, when the screen is off for about 15-20minutes the wifi connection is lost so I keep a wifi settings icon handy on the desktop, but I noticed this issue on the CM7 roms too so it should be a bug there. On CM9 roms the wifi stays on during the whole time maybe try a cm9 rom?
Some reason when I click the download link nothing happens, if you could directly link the file that would be great.

This has been discussed many times.
This is either a hardware fault or a CM7 bug. Therefore, I cannot fix it as Neutrino builds are based on CM7, and obviously, if it is a hardware issue, then there's nothing I can do at all.
For now, just pray that CM7 magically fixes it.
I am sorry, I mean no offense to your development, and since my previous post is incorrect or misinformed I am very sorry, and I will change my previous post to reflect this new information. Neutrino is an awesome ROM by the way.

I will try a CM9 ROM to see if that fixes the issue. But I will not be able to flash for awhile since I am on a business trip. If someone else could try it out and report findings that would be great.

I'm on Jokerz version 0.3ish and turning on wifi gives me an error report followed by random reboots. The problem did not originate with this ROM and I've flashed a handful of different ROMs with no fix.
I got smoked by Windows just for the free phone so I can sell it.

So we have all this hardware problem?
Because I have the same issue with my Stock Rom 2.3.4.
What is your advice?Bring it to Motorola Support or wait in this "magical fix"?
This is most likely a hardware issue.
For the latest news regarding the issue check out this thread:

If you are having this problem please post!

With the original rom version (45.31.1.MB860.NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU) that was on my phone, the Wifi connection was established much faster.
The second thing is, when I went into the wifi settings while waiting, the connection will be established immediately. It turns from searching to getting ip and then connected.
So I can't believe that this is a hardware problem. I think the phone is waiting for something before the connection will be made or so.
I've serarched a bit an found that:

When your device is connected to Wi-Fi, then it will consume less battery as it needs less 'juice' to receive data from a Wi-Fi network than a cellular network.
However, if you are on 3G, but have Wi-Fi enabled, then your phone will consume more battery than with Wi-Fi disabled as the phone frequently scans for Wi-Fi networks. The scan time is configurable and stock ROM and CM7 scan every 30 seconds, whereas Neutrino ROM scans every 2 minutes. This means that Neutrino will have slightly better battery with Wi-Fi always enabled as it scans 4x less than normal.
To configure the scan time, you'll have to edit the build.prop.

I measured it again, how much time passes before the connection is available.
It takes about 2 minutes and 5 seconds, until the connection is there.
I think it is related to the scan-intervall.
Can you change the setting, that the phone will scan for wifi when it will be unlocked?
I posted a while back with this problem but still with days of searching I haven't found anything to work.
Its my GPS I can't get it to work.
I've wiped several times
Reinstalled several roms
Reverted to stock and upgraded to e5
Tore i777 apart and inspected and cleaned hardware
All seems fine
No damages
All else seems to work just not gps.
Also my signal bars regardless of wifi or network, are
Always grey.
Has anyone else had this issue? My GPS used to work prior to rooting it was accurate to 5m and locked fast but now I can't get any sats in view or even GPS icon in the status bar.
Leaving me to assume my GPS died after 5 months of owning.
Which I hope I'm wrong cuz this phone kicks arse and spanked my sis icrap 4s

The always gray thing is the way it is supposed to be on touchwiz, and my gps works great so I can't help you there

You could try loading GPS Test to see what it shows.
OTried all the GPS programs get nothing even after hours.
Some say they removed the GPS icon from ics. Which I find a bit crazy. However if so the icon
Didn't show up in gb kk6 either.
Does this point to hardware fluke?
I've flashed an arse load of kernels, roms, and modems yet can't seem to get any GPS activity
Only maps network loc of 2700 accuracy or wifi lock.
Thank u both for replys
By chance did you have an otterbox on the phone and drop a couple times (mine saw a brick wall on accident it decided it didn't like the convo I was having and launched itself into the wall)? Thats how my GPS died and I took it in and got it replaced.

Sounds like you need a new phone.
Ah sh*% yes I've dropped it twice before I got a case
One drop launched the battery out on the pavement.
Welp. Ill assume its dead.
Does bt gps mouses work with i777?
Just got my new Redmi Note 3 Pro (kenzo) last week. Decided to jump onto a custom ROM after using MIUI for a few days. Here's what I've done:
1. Official bootloader unlocked
2. Installed alka TWRP
3. Wipe all partitions
4. Installed CM13 Radios.zip , then installed official CM13 ROM + OpenGapps + SuperSU
Booted into the ROM fine, used it for a few days and everything works well (including fingerprint). Problem is, I keep getting orange/yellow/red signal bars under battery stats. It's not constantly either. If I leave the phone at the same spot, the signal fluctuates between orange and light green constantly. The entire cellular network signal under my battery graph looks like a traffic light.
I'm not using LTE, just standard 3G. I get about -85db to ~91db, which is high. At the same spot on a different phone (also on 3G), I get about -75db (the lower the better). The thing is, on my kenzo, the signal bar is usually full or almost full, so I don't understand why the signal is so bad. So I thought, maybe I just need to flash another radio/modem. I then took the official MIUI 7.x ROM and flashed the NON-HLOS.bin via fastboot, but the result is still the same.
I've tested a different ROM as well, but same result. I don't seem to have any issues with call qualities and battery seems to be OK and unaffected by this. Not sure if it's a bug (unlikely, as I've tested both a CM and AOSP ROM), or perhaps an issue with the modem/radios or more likely a hardware fault with my phone? Someone else reported this issue as well, but apparently it works fine for them on ZephyrOS or something (I haven't tested this).
I must also point out that while I was on stock MIUI, I don't see any bad signals on my phone. It's always green.
Anyone?
Hi, I'm the one who posted it works on Zephyr. But it doesn't, actually. I solved this problem by putting it on airplane mode, waiting ~10secs and the problem stops(mostly, if it didn't, try again). You can check in *#*#4636#*#*, it doesn't drop to -113dBm. I thought it might not drain battery but I'm on ressurection remixed and there's a phone idle drain of about 131mAh.
Hi mate, thanks for your reply.
I've noticed that as well, tried putting it in airplane mode and then back to normal mode, the signal seems to be a lot more stable. My phone has never went to -113dBm though, just averaging high -80dbm ~ -95dbm. I've noticed that if you hold the phone with your left hand, the signal is much better. I think this may be similar to iPhone 4's signalgate issue, where the modem chip/band is sitting at a bad spot that is blocked depending on how you hold the phone. Disappointing to be honest.....but anyway, signal seems to be stable so far on the leaked 5.1 Qualcomm AOSP ROM. Same thing on MIUI.
Update:
BTW, it's not just the phone signal, even GPS is affected as well. When I'm inside buildings, I can't get any GPS signal at all using Device Only. If I select High Accuracy (which uses GPS and WiFi for fetching signals), I can then lock on a signal. In other words, the Device Only option (which solely relies on GPS itself) will fail when I'm inside buildings. This tells me that the chip for fetching phone and GPS signals is either crap, or that Xiaomi has packaged them in a bad layout design or position within the phone. It doesn't matter what ROM I try, the result is the same. Even using apps like FasterGPS (which downloads the gps.conf file for your country) doesn't help.
However, it's not really a big deal. I can get a lock on the GPS signal inside buildings if I use High Accuracy. Once a signal is locked, I can then switch back to Device Only and GPS will continue to work. Also, when I'm outside of the building, I can get a fast lock on using Device Only straight away, so it's not really a problem. It's just that compared to my Galaxy S5 (a 2 year old phone), the Redmi Note 3 doesn't seem much better. I know it's a budget phone, but the specs of the phone should be a lot better than my 2 year old S5.
One last thing I should point out is that the building I'm in isn't a big building with multiple floors. It's actually a small house and I get about -75dbm for my phone signal. So it's not like I'm in a bad spot with no reception. GPS just doesn't work well when you're inside a house/building on this phone.
