Owain and I voluntarily started this project for fun and to spend time. Now it's a good thing we could also amuse a community while having fun, but Owain leaving this section is a descission he is free to make. Instead of moaning be grateful for what already has been given to you! You're not paying us ****. All we get are donations. Donations are a way of appreciating the work that is being done for you. It is not forcing someone to do something for you. That would be called payment, and it might be me, but I haven't seen Owain getting any paychecks from anyone at all. I'm not saying you should pay him, I'm saying let the man do what he wants to do. If he's done, so be it! He has put an amazing lot of hours and work into the base of this rom. More developers started to pop up and can take over his work, while he is working on other devices and is NOT GETTING HIS PM BOX SPAMMED WITH MESSAGES SAYING NOTHING MORE THAN "PLEASE COME BACK!"
Thanks for your time.

I'm ****ing tired. I'm tired of caring for people who don't give a **** about me.
I'm tired of waiting for a text that's never going to come. I'm tired of thinking things will be different,
yet they never change. I'm tired of giving out chances, only to be let down. I'm tired of putting forth 100%
of an effort and only getting 25% in return. I'm tired of broken promises. I'm tired of let downs by the people who
matter most to me. I'm tired of making someone a priority, when in reality I'm just a number to them.
I'm tired of ****ty people who only manipulate a situation from their own perspective, never even thinking

Market does not show any app. --> FIXED. move vending.apk with rootexplorer from system/app to data/app, reboot, go settings-apps-manage apps and uninstall market. Extract vending apk from the market.zip file attached above and move it to sdcard and install. With rootexplorer move the installed app from data/app to system/app and reboot. Market should work fine
Still su problems when exiting rootexplorer or similar (su used)

Hey is the problem with the touch screen the same as the one from the x8 rom cm7 introduced in the other thread?!
If so the possibility of using cm7 might be high, since I guess the major problem with it was I had no touch yet the vital features were working, like call sms vibration volume and such, but still I didn't fool around enough with it to be sure.
So if tell me how to fix the touch problem, I would be grateful

it should be fixable, depending on if the screen setup is one assembly, then its going to cost you, im pretty sure its the digitizer that you cracked or damaged, i will look and see what i can find for you
Are you running any ROMS? If so, try flashing a new one. If you are just at stock phone, try flashing the stock firmware over from the Motorola website. All directions are there and firmwares.
Also are you rooted or/and have an unlocked bootloader.
I am hoping it's a software glitch but it's probably a hardware issue.

I don't see any cracks, could be sub surface maybe? I think digitizers are like 50 bucks.
One guy told me digitizers either work or they don't, there is no half working. Is that not true?
Edit: just saw your post Voelker, yes I am running Alien through RomRacer's CWM.
I wish I could get to my TiBu and MyBackup apps
Your in luck, this is what you need, http://www.ebay.com/itm/AT-T-Motoro...ultDomain_0&hash=item4aaa0e3c28#ht_3026wt_907
can you repair it yourself is the wuestion.
Damn thats crucial. I know this is prob not the most helpful idea but I guess worth a try.. Have you downloaded the Touchscreen Booster app to see if it makes a difference? You can have it pushed to your phone via the Android Market on a computer, just select the Atrix and your phone should download it automatically. The dropdown box you need to change is right about where your top row of keys is so maybe just maybe.. Try the "super optimized" setting. Sorry I cant be more help, hope you get it resolved.

that would work, but i wouldnt recoment it. if you read the comments they will give you good tips too im only 19 and ive torn apart blackberys and every version of the iphone(ive owned 8 total) i dont have issues with electornics or little parts, but you are right for (no offece) older people, or elders, they tend to lets say... slip or something and screw it up, you could even record yourself and watch it after.

for the glue, use a blow drier, ir buy some adhesive superglue i think is a no no because it fuses the 2 things together, that could screw stuff up. just my 2 cents

Welp, it's fixed, aside from a few qualms. One, the prox sensor doesn't work. Two, I didn't clean off the old adhesive stuff well enough and the screen is slightly bulged out. Not a big deal but it is what it is.
Overall, I kind of wish I would have just spent the 20 bucks extra and claimed insurance on it. Oh well. I'll probably do it sometime after tax season next year when I have some money to waste on it. For now, it'll do.

Is there an app that could work on our X2 like aircrack or something? A friend said he was able to get aircrack working on his ATRIX.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
What does aircrack do?
He was probably using the Webtop application while running Ubuntu. I have not run across any WEP cracking apps, but there are sniffers available. If you want a packet sniffing application, try Packet Sniffer. It can sniff Wifi and Bluetooth packets.
Do a search in market for penetration. Not sure if its what your looking for but it may be similar.
By the way..related to above post ...anyone make any headway with webtop porting or anything?
Would be awesome to have that cooked into a rom
I haven't tried yet but I'm sure someone else has, wouldnt terminal do that? It would be awesome if somehow we could get backtrack working also, or something like that.

You are looking for an app that can get you access to locked WiFi networks? FYI, this is illegal, and therefor not allowed on XDA. No one is going to help you that might otherwise.

its only illegal if you do it without the other persons permission. If you are doing this to exploit a security hole in order to improve network security, its fine. its all in the way you use it.

And what do you think he plans to use it for? lol, let's be realistic now, hence why there are not abundant amounts of these apps in the market. The ones that are in there specifically say they should only be used to audit. If you can't find it in the market, chances are our phone isn't supported, or it was removed by Google.

Are you really that naive to think that there is no real use for something like this? Yes a computer could do this really easily but what if you don't have access to a comp or just simply want to use your phone to test your home network security. If you think your home network is being hacked this could be a good way to find out how secure it really is.

This guy has a tutorial on how to install Backtrack 5 onto Android.
Thx for the advice!
I actually am trying to get into my own network, just wanted to see how easily it could be done. The friend did say he was using webtop. He got into a 7-11 network. Took it 3 days to crack it and he overclocked it and left the phone on ice. He said it was burning up with 90% of the CPU dedicated to aircrack.
We're having a battle of the phones
He's got me at overclocking, webtop, and I want to get some redemption for my phone

You can put a full distro of linux on your phone. This would allow you to run aircrack, airsnort, kismet, etc. on your device. Depending on how competent you are, you could compile your own distro with the application packages you wanted (like BackTrack).

Enough said....
There is an application, but 99% of users are not looking for that application. I can get into almost anyones home network because noone ever changes the Router Admin settings, all you have to do is type the IP 192.168.1.1 for linksys for example, username: admin, password: admin , BAM you have full control. The typical user either uses the setup disc or no security at all. And, if you forget your own password, all you have to do is hard reset the router, then reset up. I use MAC address filtering as well as WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode with a passphrase that I don't even myself know. Short of someone coming into my house, into my bedroom, into my closet and pushing the button, and knowing how to log into my router to plug in their mac address, or reset my router completely, you probably are not going to get on it. Even if you cracked the WPA you would still be blocked via MAC Address filter lol.

Where else would I want to use it? I don't have a tablet anymore, and I don't have a laptop, no need for one. Everything I stream over 3G on verizon is smooth enough. And why would I carry my router with me? lol
As much as I am on XDA, it is only from my desktop, that I posted a picture of in another thread. The only reason I even have WiFi in my house is because I rent 2 rooms out in my house to pay my mortgage for me If my tenants didn't use it, I would turn it off.

not that bothered myself, will wait till the stupidly clever in here sort a nice rom of it..
trick it?
nothing here either..is there any way to use proxies to trick the flyer into feeling its in the netherlands?
Best to root and install a hc ROM from here, can then use honeybar to lose the bottom bar as well as the usual benefits

I manually installed it using hboot.
If someone can find vpn/proxy settings for either France or Holland and enter them into the vpn settings you can trick your flyer into thinking its in one of those places and you should be able to download the update.
Just got it here (Talk Mobile unbranded 32Gb 3G). Downloading now...

Got my update today for flyer quick ten min impression...I think the flyer is slower after the update...just seems to take that little more time to do things...the honeycomb bar at the bottom does make it feel like you lost alot of real estate...pen i like its more useful and works better...cant see the hard touch button when lookin except the pen one which is good as it doesnt look silly having buttons showing that you cant use...on the whole i like....dont mind the soft buttons and bar...just wish certains things ie browser would open up and cover the soft buttons and bar..so you could see more browser....video play seems to turn off bar but its still there just cant see it....anyway thats my first ten mins...
Unboxed my Flyer this morning and got 3 updates, the last one being HC, extremely impressed

Got my update this morning (talk mobile 32GB 3g flyer) and this pretty much sums up my feelings
its a big sluggish but not unusably so, and the pen is much more handy, acting like a stylus which is what everyone seems to assume its going to do when they pick it up so there should be less useless screenshots!!
Edit: This impression of sluggishness may be because i am not comparing it to my Galaxy Nexus, when I used to compare to a Desire ...
Still nothing here for my unbranded 32 gb...
I have no sim card in at the moment, only WiFi. Does it matter?
Honeycomb Flyer...i did say it was a bit slower....seems alot better now i did a factory restore and got rid of all apps that was on before the update...impressed with honeycomb....and after a few hours of play i seems to forgot about the honeycomb soft button bar and the space up it takes...

The last few days I've been getting together the courage to go S-Off,root and flash Globatron's lovely piece of work, then this 'official' OTA update comes along and tries to trump it! How rude! Is Globatron's 'better' in any way? If so I'll jump on the hacking wagon...
Incidentally, why have some received their update and some not?
well played with it a fair bit today, initial thoughts are seems sluggish to me but may need apps cleaning out n starting again(i do have a lot of carp in there).
not sure i like the loss of the 360 spinny screens, only seem to have a few in either direction n it then stops.
have strange messages come up when on the orig mains charger,it tells me the charger is insufficient to charge the tablet and so it wont charge until i switch tablet off...used to charge fine on gb while switched on so god knows whats going on now..
cant seem to put a folder on screen in order to fill it with icons etc, havent a clue where that option is now..
good few of my borrowed apps no longer work, messages say "this is not an original app"..
also the music player doesnt seem to work,it just says "loading" forever n ever
pen is nifty now it interacts with everything tho my screen cover is now showing more scratches after just a days use.
not worried as much as i thought i mite, about losing the hard buttons, just sort of carried on without thinking about them, little bar onscreen is hardly noticeable tho it did ignore my presses a few times.

The GloblTron post is the exact same ROM as the official OTA with the addition of root and recovery so yes its better, but its the same.
The RUU listed is the exact same stock official OTA, same thing you would receive over the air
Sorry if this has already been covered, but the only thread I could find on point was in the archive.
I recently bought a Photon for Sprint on ebay with the idea of reselling it. The phone was running 2.35 and I used Photon-torpedo to root it, which worked just fine. Today, on a whim, I popped my sim chip from my AT&T Atrix 4g into it, to see if it would work. It did. And, with a little bit of tweaking of the settings, I was able to get 4g data to run. (I set Network Mode to "Automatic", and enabled the checkbox to Allow GSM was all). Then, to take it further, I was able to start Mobile Hotspot, which I'd had to "disable" the device check on line 118 in my Atrix to get to do the same thing.
So, my question is a little noobish: Is my Photon carrier unlocked somehow, perhaps by Photon-Torpedo? Am I going to get slammed by AT&T for some sort of bizarre roaming charge? Anyone know why this worked?
nice, what baseband does it have and does it say unlock when you first boot up phone?

I don't think its unlocked as it doesn't say unlocked when it boots up and behaves like it still thinks its a Sprint phone. Google Play store also treats it as a Sprint phone. The baseband is n_01.29.08_GSM

you say it works just fine on the AT&T network? interesting. are you outside of the US? that's the only way it would work out of the box like that. i would like to hear more about this!
No, I am not outside the US. I am in Seattle, and we have nost of the big carriers here, (Sprint, Verizon, AT&T), so it is as much a surprise to me as to you.
I've been using this phone for about 3 days now on AT&T, and it's been working as well as my Atrix 4g by all appearances.
If there's any info I can provide let me know. I'd love to figure this out.

i'm 2 hours away from you haha. small world. well your baseband is very unusual! so i think you may have a special phone on your hands that some devs would love to have. i do have a couple questions. where did the phone come from? someone inside the US? if it came from another non-US carrier it would make sense. as a japanese version known as KDDI has the same phone but unlocked GSM for the US. perhaps you can pull me the build.prop file from the system folder and post on here as a zip or text file. (otherwise xda won't allow the upload) then we can see just a little more info on the device and what carrier it might have come from originally.
you're baseband is unique. photons latest baseband is n_01.28.07r. previous ones have been N_01.28.0Xs.fk, X=random character
This phone was a eBay purchase and sent from Fort Lauderdale Florida. It was listed as a Sprint phone, and the only information that was in the ebay listing was that she had changed carriers after having it for 6 months and had to get another phone. I will post the build prop late tonight when I have more time.

awesome. i'm excited to see this. the magical photon!
As requested, here is the build.prop attached as a zip file. Let me know what you find. And let me know if you need anything else.

you my friend have one very unique photon. you have a unique baseband and build of the OS. i have never seen either of them. i posted in another forum asking others about this. you might have the missing key people have been looking for in terms of GSM unlocking. i wanna know who had this phone and if maybe it's a leaked OS on the phone or something else that's going on? do you know if the CDMA side of the phone works at all? even just making a call whether a line is connected or not?

i wouldn't mind getting a nandroid backup of this if you could possibly do that? using bootstrap, a real recovery, or even this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samcripp.romff (i think this would do the job if you don't have bootstrap or a real custom recovery)
i would thank you a lot for it! you could upload it to dropbox or something if that's possible?
Okay. Let me research how to do a nandroid backup. As soon as I have it figured out, I will post it.

you can use bootstrap here,
http://files.acsyndicate.net/pub/users/Steve/MOTODX2_Bootstrap_signed.apk
or you can use the one listed in the previous post. or you can unlock and install a custom recovery. however i'd be careful with unlocking because flashing the wrong thing can put your phone back to a standard photon with locked GSM making it somewhat unusable for GSM again. so i wouldn't recommend an unlock at this time.
top tip: don't flash an SBF file whatever you do!
installing and using bootstrap:
Installation:
Download the recovery file
Mount your device to USB
Put the .apk on your device
Unplug your device
Navigate to the file explorer, install “Bootstrap_signed.apk”
When the installation completes, run the application
Click “Install Recovery”
Accept the Superuser request
Click “Install Recovery” again for good measure
After success, plug your Photon 4G into the wall adapter
Verify that your phone is charging from the wall
Press “Recovery Mode”
Your device will now slowly reboot into Tenfar’s CWM Recovery
*note: you do need to have your phone plugged in to get into "recovery" mode.
then do a backup

Good News! I have uploaded a backup of the Magical Photon to Dropbox that was taken using the link you provided above. I thought it was better to take that route rather than risk making a stupid mistake while unlocking the bootloader or when flashing the device. Why take chances when you don't have to? PM me with an email address so I can invite you to share the folder. And let me know if you need anything else.

Any more news with the magical photon?? Is there a way to create an SBF file to flash to other photons??

The last I heard about that was in halfevildruids thread. Na7q posted a CWM flashable zip based on the magical photon. You can find the post here
As far as I know, this hasn't worked for any other phone, (the Magical Photon seems to be completely unique). I think halfevildruid also opined that there could be a binary switch in the magical photon that might be found, but as far as I know nobody is working on it.
What would be really nice to have is the Magical Photon's radio. Unfortunately, its not that easy to get. The plan is to extract it when a new OTA update comes out. But unless a new method surfaces to extract the radio, we'll have to wait for that.
In the meantime, I'm keeping the Magical Photon as close to "pure to stock" as I can to give the devs here the best material to work with if it's ever needed.
Hope that answers your questions.

The ota would need to be GSM capable to have what we are looking for.
If you guys get me the stock locked and the magical one's nv dump I will start going through it. I have the 2.3.5 leak and kddi dumps again. If its in the nvm I will find it if I can get hold of that phone. If not I can scan for differences between the two nvf's. I am busy opening a wireless repair shop to open in 2 weeks so I am not doing a lot until that is open.

$100 towards getting you that phone
or
$200 and I'm done deving/hosting this year
or
trade+$ (if JohnH4 will go for it) and you walk me through the nv dump (until we get 2.3.5 unlock this will kill both my atrix and photon deving til that time)
I'll match your 100 or offer up a shiny white 1 month new white HTC vivid straight across if john is interested in an at&t phone. No ones got a chance of getting their paws on my one x though.

If anyone can tell me the location of the nvm file, I would be glad to pull it. Will the pull command in adb do the trick?
