[Q] Eclipse v0.7 Roaming Update No Keypad - Motorola Droid X2

I just installed Eclipse v0.7 and when I dial *228, the keypad is missing. I looked through all of the settings along with backing out of the call, going into dialer, and selecting the "Use touch tone keypad" and nothing comes up. Hopefully I am not just missing something.
I wiped data/cache x 3 like I have on every previous version, installed v0.7 two times, and the keypad is still missing on activation/roaming update.

If your wanting to update your roaming capabilities, try *22899

*22899 works for updating roaming, thanks. I did a factory reset before I updated to v0.7 (to remove some of the junk I've accumulated) and I couldn't press 1 to activate the phone initially (since the keypad is missing). I had to revert back to v0.6, activate the phone, and then install v0.7.

Try letting in run through the automated system and tell you to press 1 like 3 times I believe it automatically will start activation after that

I tried that. It says activation failed and ends the call after it says "press 1" three times.

Ignore this... My bad!

I backed into google my after market launcher, and when it finished back up I had my keyboard.

[Q] 3G/1X Toggle, Can't do *228 with GSB???

Hi,
Running GSB 1.9 on my Eris.
Starting today, my phone has been switching between 3G and 1X, and seems to stay on 1X more.
I've seen posts saying that I should update the PRL by dialing *228 opt 2. Problem though. After dialing *228, I never get the option to open up the keypad to enter option 2. All I get is a red screen with "Activate your phone" at the top, with a note "Please wait while your phone is being programmed." There is a status bar under this note, a "Speaker" button and "Back" button at the bottom. No phone buttons work on this except for the "Home" and "Back" button.
As I'm typing this, I called once more. After waiting on hold, it automatically went into programming and gave me a note that it may take 15 minutes to work.
Nothing's worked yet.
Any help?
For all of the non-HTC based ROMs (Froyo and GB in particular), if you long-press on menu, it should pop up the keyboard. From there you can change to the numeric entry and press 2 (or 1 if you want to activate the phone.)
Since I can't remember the last time I dialed *228, I decided to give it try.
And long pressing on menu worked as doogald said.
Thanks
You can also insert two 2 second pauses followed by 2 (for roaming update) from the dialer before hitting send.
Curious, did reprogramming help the switching from 1x to 3g?

or dial *22899 and that will do the same as selecting option 2 when dialing *228

thanks. i did not know this. much easier than long pressing menu, sometimes it doesnt recognize the numbers properly.
Did *228 fix the 3g 1x problem for you? It did not for me, but flashing a newer radio seemed to do the trick.

No, it seemed to fix itself the next day or two. Must have been a Verizon problem.

[Q] Do I Need To Unroot Before Activating?

I have a rooted droid Eris that i'm going to give a friend... do i need to unroot before he could activate it? We'd be activating by phone of course...
No but *228 doesn't work because the keypad wont show up. I think its *22833 or something. I'm sure someone will post the right number for you, or do a quick Google search.

You will be fine activating the rooted Eris - dial *22890 and it will program the phone AND update the PRL, or in the future, dial *22891 to update the PRL or roaming (same as dialing *228, wait for the automated voice prompt, then 2 on the keypad)
When it's finished, you should see a screen message - something about taking up to 15 minutes for the phone to be ready & authenticated on VZW's CDMA network.
It is not required, but it's a good idea to reboot the phone - or power off and start it up again - verify that data connection is working and then go ahead & make that first voice call. It should be "registering" on the network & allow the call to go thru.
If for some reason, your device isn't being "authenticated" - you can dial #8899 on the phone - and the calll will be transfered to a live agent, upon verifying some account information, check your account settings & do whatever is necessary to reset & make it happen. ***
*** This happened to me last week as I was flashing several custom Eris Roms and finally, I had to call in & something about a security update/check being necessary, took only a few minutes OTA while I was on the Eris with them - and I was able to make outgoing calls again. (BTW, incoming calls were okay - it just won't allow outgoing ones)
Good luck & have fun with the Eris.

New Voicemail Notification won't go away..

In my notification menu bar, the a New Voicemail notification will not disappear. There is no clear option for it. I have tried many roms, the only one that got rid of it was CM7, using the clear function. Can anyone help?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Voicemail notifications come from your carrier, not the phone, so there's nothing you can do on the phone to get rid of it. So basically, there's no need to go flashing your phone to try and get rid, despite the fact that you already have!
You could try ringing your voicemail, make sure the message has been listened to (and deleted if relevant), and then maybe check your voicemail settings. Find the notification settings in the menu and see what options you have.

Mind sharing what you did to fix it? I am having an identical problem, and I am beating my head against a wall
I have tried thus far:
- Called it from a land line and left a new message, then deleted it
- Had my carrier reset my voicemail
- Had my carrier remove voicemail service completely
- Power cycled the phone, and pulled the battery

[Q] Network extender

Does anyone know how to get a network extender to work with cm7dx2 or eclipse 1.0.4? When you make a call you shoult hear 2 tones saying that your connected to it, it is not doing that since i put either of these roms on my dx2. I've tried #48 but is says the feature update could not be completed. I do know when i was on stock, the phone did connect to it. any sugestions? Thanks.
John
You might want to reprogram the phone. Dial *228 and select option 2. After it's done dial *228 again and select option 3 to update your roaming database.
tried that and it still isnt working. I'm going back to stock later to see if it will connect to it.
My extender world with CM7X2 no problem. Now one thing I was explained if you were an Altel convert you had to use a hybrid PRL to make it work.

always been with verizon. I placed a call with support, and still waiting for the tech to call my phone instead of my wifes phone since she isnt home during the day. The tech cant seem to call the number i give him in his voice mail. He said in the voicemail that they didnt see any errors in the extendor. I just want to get this working.
I have a problem with my wife's Droid 3 just sucking in general. They will have to send a field engineer out to look at the surrounding signal before they will offer to give you a new extender

[Q] *228 with TeamHackSung ICS 6.5?

I put the TeamHackSung ICS 6.5 rom on my Fascinate, and have found that if I dial *228, once the call connects I'm left without a dial pad...and thus can't access the activation process.
Anyone else notice this, or is it just me?
tap the home key, phone icon, return to call in progress, then the dial pad icon. its a known glitch on ics roms.
Didn't work. After pressing home and then the phone icon, I tried both "Return to call in progress" and "Use touch tone keypad", but both just returned me to the call without a dial pad nor button to bring it up.
actually dont hit return to call in progress, just select use touchtone keypad...you might have to do it twice.

No, still not getting it. After hitting home and then the phone button, my screen shows three choices: Use touch tone keypad, Return to call in progress, and Add call. The first two just return me to the keypad-less call in progress. "Add call" does in fact give me a keypad, but the tones it generates are not heard by the call in progress. I tried hitting "1" and then the call button from this point, but it just went back to my home screen. I then had to hit the phone button, either of the first two options to get back to the activation call, and then the "Back" button to hang up.
If I don't hang up in time, my phone gets completely deactivated...no phone or 3G capability, meaning that I can't even dial #228, never mind pressing "1" after dialing it, but fortunately rebooting the phone restored the activation.
I've never been able to use *228 on any MTD rom. It does all the same stuff you mentioned. So long as your connection is working, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks, I feel reassured. Hopefully *228 activation won't ever be needed again.
Yeah but Option 2 from *228 is a good thing. You have two options, but I'm only going to bring up one since it's the easiest.
*22890 ---> This will program/activate your phone.
*22891 ---> This will update your roaming capabilities.
No need to hit other buttons after dialing. Let it finish, and reboot your phone.
Excellent!

You can always do *228,,,,,2 The commas are pauses. The screen will say that the updated roaming was not successful, but the message says it is. You can also replace the 2 with a 1 to do activation (however it's not needed if you have data as others have suggested).

I did it, I got it to work.

I used this way by setting the (*228,,,,1,,,555-555-5555#,,,,5555#) all of the numbers I needed to push, I made into a contact. Then I just pushed the contact.

Did you see my post on the first page, it seems easier.
I did see your post, but that option doesn't work for my phone for whatever reason.
