Yes, it will cause a ram issue.. But it can be patched by flashing a cmw file. I forget what thread its in.. But NFHimself made a cwm flashable file that fixes up the ram issue.

i bought my atrix off of ebay, rooted and unlocked the bootloader, then messed up with gingerblur. maybe it was because i had the lastest updates installed on the atrix?

You were supposed to flash through the system recovery app's recovery, but anyways back to your question. If you follow directions on how to do things im sure you'll be fine off, as of now the only way to hardbrick is to sbf back when you have the ota installed,

Are you sure that your old atrix is hardbricked? Sounds like it would be more of a softbrick unless your old atrix had Gingerbread. Eitherway, it sounds fixable.

[Q] unlocking version 45.2.7

I think you can run the bootloader from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216143
Flash it in RSDlite. It will fail, but don't panic. Pull the battery, and run the moto-fastboot command lines to verify that you've been unlocked. You can then root either via the photon-torpedo method, or AIO root method.
Good luck, and remember to charge your phone all the way!
Best,
K

No, there is not yet a fully functional unlocker. There's one that mostly works but it breaks 4G.
You can root it just fine, though, without unlocking it.

So you can root it without unlocking it i really dont care about 4g its not in the area im in

Yeah, you can root without unlocking. There are a few ways..I personally like the one click and photon torpedo methods.

Yeah if you want custom roms, you'll need to unlock the bootloader. It's a really easy process
1) Get RSDlite
2) Get the unlocked bootloader SBF file and flash it
3) Run the cmd lines to check to see if you're unlocked
4) Root and install CWM
5) Flash away!

[Q] SBF w/Clockwork

I was cruising around doing some reading today and found a thread where someone had managed to pull the stock recovery out of an SBF file and replace it with Clockwork. They even made a "recovery only" sbf file and successfully installed it on their phone.
So from what I can gather, this would allow people to flash ROMs, themes, etc. without having to unlock and install a new recovery? You would have Clockwork with a locked bootloader?
Someone shed some light on this for me, please.
I think the bootloader still needs to be unlocked because of the signature verification.

Not so much signature validation, because that is a function of the recovery - but unlocking the partitions to be written too.

I think I understand now, thanks. I was under the assumption that since Motorola are technically the only ones who are creating the sbf files, that they would be trusted by the devices to do as they please. Again, I am just learning here so thanks for whatever info comes about on this.
If anyone is at all interested in the thread I stumbled upon:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/hacking-help/39606-making-sbf-file-2.html
^^ there it is. It's dated, but I thought it might hold some ideas(?)

Odin, and still the best way to mod imo

Yeah, I realize it was a bit dated but it seemed like a good way to do things. I would like to see even simple things like deodexed stuff in sbf, but it's not sounding like it's that simple.

I can at least keep this alive and going. Mine was previously unlocked, and, once the update applied, which did it overnight without my permission (HNNNGH), I lost it. What do I do now?

I think you will find that you just lost the unlock graphic; unlocking involves burning out one of the eFuses, so you can't relock.
Hi everone
Im using a rooted, BT UL Atrix 4G with 2.3.6 4.5.191. and Im wondering if this is possible to perform this downgrade or/to 2.3.4
I want to do that becouse my GPS takes a lot to get a fix and I had no luck with other methods like: changing gpsconfig, recalibrating compass, using different radios
Thanks
Downgrading to 2.3.4 IS POSSIBLE provided you have previously unlocked your bootloader AND you have a backup of 2.3.4 through CWM.
This is treacherous territory, and I'm not sure if there's been resolution on whether or not it's safe.
Your safest bet? Fruit cake it back to 4.5.91.

Yeah it is working fine on 4.5.141 ... Unlocked and Rooted, running Neutrino 2.8 GT
But the phone is heating up even @ 1 GHz. (no undervolt)
So was curious if flashing the ROM over 4.5.91 will help or not.
- Is it not possible to downgrade even using Nottach's method? Flashing the 4.5.91 images directly from fastboot and not bothering with RSD ?

Need to use the boot strap recovery, MOTODX_Bootstrap_Signed.apk. Its based off Clockwork. Make sure you only try to flash locked roms though. If you try and flash anything not supported your more than likely going to be on my boat... Softbricked. I was a flashaholic with my Evo, now im a bricked bum looking for light...
Look in Lokifish Mars Sticky on all thing Mopho. It has links to everything you will need in it.
No you cannot flash a custom recovery on a locked bootloader.

I'm in the same boat. I just got a used Photon and it already had the 2.3.5 (45.4.13 254_13) ROM on it. I got it rooted successfully at least, but get the error when trying to install the DERPUNLOCK.SFB file.
Any solutions out there yet? Can the unit be SBF-ed back to 198_7 and then the bootloader unlocked?
(I'm sorry if this is a redundant question, but I haven't found a clear answer and have searched the forums extensively!)
THANKS!

Your only real option is mof2.3.5 unless you want to run a rom that is not supported anymore ie imperium, rocko, skinny. Mofs rom is damn good though. Give it a shot and see what you think.
If your on 2.3.4 go with mofo2.3.5ish if your on 2.3.5, don't flash any roms locked or unlocked. Just be happy your phone works!
The reason being is because will the roms are based on 2.3.4 and since 2.3.5 locked bootloader, anything 2.3.4 based will cause you to soft brick, with no sprint sbf to fall back on. Peetr and mo are actively working on a working sbf for those who are on USC electrify sbf.

Signed boot.img with its modules is needed to install after each locked rom.
Don't want to sound like a n00b, but where would those be in the ROM threads? I'm so used to HTC's phones, so going to this Photon makes me feel like I'm starting from scratch...

Ohh okay. I'll just sit back and wait for the devs. Really wish I hadn't traded my Evo LTE for this Photon....
