Long time follower (since my G1), first time poster (I think )
My question is simple, is anyone working on or is there already an update.zip or similar one-click root for the official froyo.uvka6 that was released via Tmob/Kies?
I have searched and searched but most results take me to links for rooting 2.1 and upgrading to 2.2. but no root for the official 2.2.
Am I being impatient, have I not searched properly, has someone else already posted this question somewhere else?
Flame away, I don't care, but please answer my question or point me in the right direction if you can.
Thanks!
The old root update.zip file has worked for me on all releases including KA6

Thanks for a quick response...
I have tried the old update.zip and the following happens:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Possibly corrupt update.zip file? Other thoughts?

You need to toggle signature when you are in recovery before clicking update.zip. it happened to me also and that's all I did and it worked.

Could you please explain more. I no longer have CWM Recovery, just the stock 3e recovery, and am unable to locate any options to "toggle signature". Am I missing something there?
The STOCK 3e recovery from odin files DOES NOT ALLOW update.zip files, no matter what you do!
To get clockworkmod running, you either need one of the voodoo kernels (which you can only flash through odin/hiemdall, because if this recovery issue) or you need root (the onlyone that works with these releases is SuperOneClick) to mount system as rw and push a modded 3e recovery (this part is found in many roms right now).
The easiest is to flash a voodoo kernel using odin, then boot recovery and flash away.

Is there a walkthrough for this method?
Thanks for the SuperOneClick worked great.
Enable usb debugging.
Launch the app and follow any directions that appear. Was super easy.
Yes, if it's the same as Samsung Galaxy S One Click Root, you install the One Click Root, plug your phone in and you have two options "One Click Root" and "One Click Unroot".
Fairly straight foreward. I was surprised how easy it was when I rooted my phone lol
Hope this helps!

+1. Telus official froyo did the same (locked bootloader) and super one click worked fine.

This worked for me as well. Thanks to everyone involved for the help. This post can be closed/locked as needed.
I was able to root as well using this method, however, once i am in I install clockwork recovery. Then I try to install a rom using rom manager and it only reboots into recovery 3e not clockwork. How can i make sure I get into clockwork to install from zip?

try 'reinstall packages' until you get there. you may have to do it more than once

It won't work. I have tried maybe 50 times. It seems to be a problem with Recovery <3e>
"E:failed to verify whole-file signature"
"E:signature verifications failed"
"installation aborted"
It will not allow me to get into clockwork. This was the reason I used superoneclick (worked) instead of oneclickroot to root my phone however clockwork is my next problem.

+1 same here..
i trying to root the phone different way and don't let, somebody help. please
Download the One click root
Unzip it
Open the executable. Make sure your phone is in debugging mode connected to your PC.
Let it do its magic.
I had a problem with the root when I used titanium backup. It kept telling me I wasn't rooted. When I opened titanium backup and it gave me the error message, I clicked on the "problems" button and allowed it to download busybox. VIOALA! I now have access to all my back ups and am rooted.

This is happening to me, too. Also, when I tried to boot to recovery using the volume key method, it went straight to the android with exclamation point screen, wouldn't even allow me to try to reinstall packages. Booting into recovery from Rom Manager works but I get these errors when I try to reinstall packages.
I also tried to run Fix Permissions in Rom Manager and get "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" despite that I do have root access.
Hi there,
I've been getting some notifications from my HTC Desire phone about an OTA update "2.33.161.6(6.14 MB) - Android 2.2".
I downloaded the update, but sadly it doesn't install. The phone reboots, starts to show a progress bar, and then I get an exclamation point icon. Pressing home takes me to a ClockworkModRecovery screen with this showing :
Finding update package
Opening update package
Verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Is there a solution for this?? I've tried many things (like enabling and disabling verification check in CWM)
I have a rooted HTC Desire GSM (stock rom) and I think it's branded (Vodafone). I have the CWM with S-Off.
I want to try to install it from recovery as an update.zip, but therefor I need to know where android saves OTA updates?
Anyone knows the full path to the directory and knows what the file is called??
Thanx!!!
I rooted my phone using Revolutionary about a month ago and have had no issues until now. It appears to be wanting to install an update. I don't know if it's the OTA update but I didn't tell it to update (and it didn't say I had a new OTA update).
Here is what happens.
Start up phone, loads fine. Starts loading widgets and home screen.
Get about 30 seconds of semi-function while stuff is loading.
Phone display's "Powering down" message.
Boots into clockworkmod recovery, shows error, press menu and see the error log
Code:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.1
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
If I reboot, it does the same thing. Any thoughts? I've searched around but haven't seen anything and since revolutionary is fairly new (no OTA updates since?) I thought this might be a new problem.
A new ota went out yesterday. If you are running a stock rooted ROM there is a chance that it is still will Ty to update itself if he dev didn't disable that function. Try downloading and flashing the latest stock ruu and see if that helps.

I should have added that I did not flash any rom. I only used revolutionary to acquire root access.
Hat would be stock root. You received the ota then. What you need to do is flash cwm in fastboot and try wiping everything. DO NOT WIPE DATA. Just coear caches.

Flash the disable zip through recovery and wipe cache and it should solve the issue.

Hi, I was running CM11 for xt910 and was planning to return to stock.
It wouldn't work via bootmenu manager. it would give the following error:
Installing: /sdcard/0/update.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Warning no file_contextsVerifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/bin/app_process", "76c3a9a7a6d400a9ff3e4db391327daa33aa0663", "2a221441bf06f2618aa6c35ae0cade13bd4f6e1b")
E:Error in /sdcard/0/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
or something similar.
So I attempted flashing via RSD lite, after temporary unrooting via voodoo root manager.
It says successfully installed, but at the rebooting process it hangs. (or is it usual that first startup takes over 5-10 minutes and recovery mode gives an android with a red triangled exclamation, not enabling me to do any of the actions?).
So my only chance is to fix this with fastboot. what should I do?

CM11? Are you sure?
If you have the SBF Fastboot file, located Here, RSDLite under AP Fastboot, and start from scratch!
I've never used BMM, I'm a Safestrap advocate (since it's all I've used). It will retain Stock (as long as you don't overwrite it), and then all you have to do, if you encounter a really glitchy rom, is wipe that Romslot (partition), and recreate/reinstall whatever you want.
I hope I was of SOME assistance.

Hello, May i first apologise if i have posted in the wrong forum and as any mods to move my post to the correct part
I have a i9300 s3 that I rooted with odin and CF-Auto-Root what worked great until today when i decided to reset my phone back to factory settings. once i done this it worked and started up. I then had a notification to update my software. I downloaded and it went to reboot. Now im stuck with the samsung boot screen and blue swirl.
I Decided to read some of xda and someone said to use odin again and re root, The worked and said ok.
Rebooted the phone and it gets stuck again.
I downloaded a rom called cm-10.2-20131110-UNOFFICIAL-i9300-V73 thinking i could install that to correct the problem. When i do this i get
Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:Failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Im Stuck...
Any help or links would be great
Thank you in advance
Simon
