Hi All,
I currently have an issue with my battery where it's draining rapidly i.e. 5% in an hour. I've tried calibrating 3 times, running void forever with golden leaf 18a kernel and using Franco battery optimization scripts. Also when I plug it on charger there is a 20% difference from what's reported i.e. on battery it says 60% but as soon as plugged into charger it says 80%.
Is it a faulty battery?

The method is in two process, steps 1-4 are ‘conditioning’, this allows the battery to make sure it’s absorbing as much juice as it can. The remaining steps are ‘calibration’ steps which work by re-writing the battery stats file on the device.
The Method
Run down your device’s battery until it turns itself off
Turn it back on and wait for it to turn off again; this may be straight away of after a few minutes
Remove the battery for at least 20 seconds
Replace the battery and charge until full and then for at least another hour – while the device is off
Delete you batterystats.bin file using one of 3 methods (requires root): Terminal Emulator – type su then press enter, next type ‘rm /data/system/batterystats.bin’ (without quotes). Using a Battery Calibration App (from market) – there are many choices available, they just delete your batterystats.bin file. In market, search for battery calibration. Make sure to read review and provided info in case of device incompatibilities. Manually – if for any reason the previous two methods didn’t work you may want to try deleting the file manually. Using a file manager with root access (such as Root Explorer) navigate to ‘data/system/batterystats.bin’. Delete ‘batterystats.bin’
Your device will now creates itself a new batterystats.bin file with a correct 100% battery reading.
Run down the battery until it turns itself off
Turn on the device and charge for at least 8 hours
Unplug the device, turn off and charge for another hour
Unplug the device, turn on and wait for 2 minutes
Turn off and charge for another hour
Use the device as normal!
You really only need to do this very few months or when you change ROM. Providing you don’d change any major settings the battery stats file will remain accurate.
Thanks!

take a look in Spare Parts app or *#*#4636#*#* (battery history) what's drain your battery. Yesterday i found that Camera 360 use sensors 13hours...
Related
So I got one of those CHEAP 3500 eBay batteries from China with the bulky back cover w/o the camera lens hole plastic. You've probably seen them, they are under $10 shipped...
I'm not sure if:
A) I have a dud battery
B) Falsely labeled 3500 battery
C) My less than ideal/proper battery training did any good
D) Battery is not properly "talking" to phone - ie temp/mV/Percent
E) BatteryCalibration App is confusing the eris/ROMs
My issues with the replacement battery include:
1 - Battery life is barely any better. It feels more like a 1750 or smaller replacement. Even though the battery is THICKER than stock
2 - Max charge I can get with BatteryCalibration app for 100% is around 4200mv. 0% is around 3400mv (I don't remember the exact number). REALLY? A dead battery equals around 3400mV?
Note: I had 9% battery life today and had only about 300 less mV than my wifes phone with a stock battery. Here phone had like 88%. (Sorry I didn't jot down the exact numbers).
Note2: Currently:
Wife Phone: 57% 3809mV (Note to self - check when 100%).
My Phone: 78% 3951mV
Wife Phone: 2.1 XtraSense 5.0.1
My Phone: 2.3.7 Condemned CM7 V19 Vanilla
My Phone was replaced by Verizon a few months ago and her's is still from when when bought them new.
Any thoughts on what I need to do different (other than get some more concrete numbers to paste)?? Is my battery a Dud or falsely labeled? Other?
Try this:
- fully charge the phone, so that you get a green LED. (Not absolutely necessary, but I think will be better than doing the rest while not fully charged.)
- still plugged in, restart the phone in Recovery.
- Wipe menu, wipe battery stats
- Restart phone and unplug.
See if that gives you better battery life.
(By the way, FYI, it's xtrSENSE, not xtraSENSE. Common error.)

I thought that is what the app does... but I'll give it a try when charged.
Another thing to try is once your phone is charged. Before going into recovery, power the phone off. You'll probably notice the led go orange. Leave it plugged in until it turns green. I've even unplugged it and plugged it back in a couple of times until green every time before booting into recovery and wiping stats. Just another option to try. I've actually seen mine change to green while powered on and indicate a full charge then go to orange when I turn it off and go another 20 minutes or so before it turns green to indicate a full charge.
I'm trying doogald and CondemnedSoul's suggestions.
ATM I'm still on my 1st draining since this morning.
The problem/concern I have is the phone seems to thing the battery is still a stock 1300 battery. (Even the Battery Monitor Widget app lists the battery as 1300).
Additionally, the battery temp never varies more than 0.2 degrees per phone apps.
I'm wondering if the CHEAP battery is not properly communicating with the phone. If not, is there anything I can do other than buying the seido battery instead?
Here's an app screenshot.

My rate of battery loss is insane. I can sometimes lose more than 14% an hour while using it. That's with cm7 and the extended/fat battery! Is this normal for heavy use or is there something inherently wrong with my phone.

what apps and hardware (bluetooth, etc) are you using? what is your birightness set at? are you using 4G?
No bluetooth. Mostly baconreader for reddit. 4g strangely makes no difference. Normally it is off, but I have found that the angle of descent is not impacted by switching. Brightness always sub 40%

Something else has to be running. I get better than that with stock battery and heavy use.

Keep in mind that this is with the 2750mA battery

Is that an antivirus in the first screen?
My brightness (in a profile) is set to 15% and I run that 24/7 unless I'm outside making a phone call or something to see the screen . . .
Could be the antivirus. Have you tried battery calibration by nema? (In market) I'm running infected and using the same battery (OEM right?) And I get about 5% drain an hour with 4g on and screen on about half the time. Sometimes more or less depending on usage.

Doesn't that just clear the batterystats file on the Sd card? That doesn't affect use unfortunately.

I could be wrong, but isnt juicedefender an app constantly running? Have you tested your battery without that app?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA
First off thanks, I now feel better about my battery life. in my opinion battery life depends on a lot of things. Juice defender didn't seem to play well with my phone. I only turn on wifi when I need it. Also I would charge to phone to 100% and reboot into recovery and clear the battery stats. Not sure if any of that would help, but it can't hurt to try.
I've noticed a bit more accurate readings when resetting battery stats, which is why I suggested it.
Otherwise, you could try a complete backup of all your apps and trying a different rom?
My battery lasts about 14 hrs with regular to heavy use. 11 hrs on the fat battery seems like its way too low. Have you rooted and unclocked?
I would unistall juice defender. You can set up the phone just as well without it and have one less app running (which uses battery)
I have an avg of about 12 hrs fully cycle since i bought my phone over a year ago. I have to make sure that all the setting (i.e. GPS off, wifi off, screen turned all the way down) are always correct to push anything past the 12 hr mark.
Your best bet is do like the rest of us and make sure you have a charger always ready if you are ALWAYS using it.
I flashed an aosp ROM which was very unstable and so went back to the Sensation ROM I was using prior to the aosp ROM and all has been well since apart from a sudden drop in battery roughly 3 hours after flashing. I've attached a screen cap. of the battery usage screen shortly after it occurred, should it help anyone identify the problem.

Thanks.
I had the same problem just yesterday, it's due to the fact that when you're flashing your ROMS your battery got miscalibrated. It's a simple thing to fix just follow the instructions from this app on the Play Store (New Market for those of you without the update).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
Did you reboot the phone in this 3 hours? Coz I see this big step, which is happening when you reboot in recovery or flash something. You need to charge you phone and calibrate you battery

I rebooted after I'd configure the launcher as it was before I tried the aosp rom, but didn't enter recovery or flash anything.
I'll configure the battery and hope it doesn't happen, just wondering if anyone has an idea what caused it?
The exact thing happened to me. When you flashed your phone at a certain battery percentage (lets say 50%) Your new ROM assumes that 50% is the maximum capacity. Therefore, when you rebooted your phone it simply corrected the misreading. Calibrating your battery from the app I provided in my earlier post will delete the batter stats file in your phone and create a new one. Remember to use it when your battery is at 100%, then take your battery down to 0% and charge it back up to 100. I'm currently doing that process now after my phone jumped from 50% down to 20% after I rebooted yesterday.

It`s happening some times, you are not first and not last. Just calibrate you battery and will be fine. Good luck
Ok so I've downloaded the battery calibration app and currently charging my device however the app is displaying the same battery level as my phone.
Does this render the battery calibration a waste of time or is it to be expected?

Mine always does this when flashing and shows the sudden drop in battery. Once you charge it back up it should be fine again I'm sure. It always is for me
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Yep. You are 100% correct
Calibration apps do absolutely nothing except make you a few bucks poorer if you pay for them :-|
The best thing you can do is charge to 100%, pull the battery for a minute, and put it back in.
Also Ex Tweaks is capable of resetting the fuel gauge chip in genuine Samsung batteries should you be experiencing fuel alerted wakelocks on CM9 or similar.

I was always happy with my battery, but always wanted to find ways to improve it. I installed foxhound use black wallpaper and battery was even better after this, until...
I read about recalibrating your battery after installing custom ROMs and decided to try "Battery Calibration" App by NeMa.
Today for the first time ever my battery died whilst I was at work, I actually though my phone had broke as I was fully charged this morning and had rarely used my phone. My phone is on charge now and I'm trying to fix this huge battery drain, according to the battery settings the Android OS has drained 71% of the battery, that can't be right can it?
BTW I'm using and have always used stock kernel.
Here are some pics...

Don't let your battery drain to zero, charge from 20% it will train up again, and I guess this app just deleted your batt stats file and possibly wiped your dalvik. If you really wanna look at your battery get better battery stats from play store

Battery recalibrates itself after a week or so of use .
Wiping the battery stats does nothing and is just a stupid idea that gets posted by those that don't know the facts .

Thanks for such a quick reply, I have never previously let my battery drain 100% I was at work and when I checked my phone it had fully drained, usually I would have at least 60%+ so I was wasn't expecting it.gonna try the app you recommend, ty. I didn't know this, and I assumed that people who make these app's or post about these know a little something about it, I've obviously received some bad advice on various threads.
So how can I fix this now? Judging by your post, I simply just using the phone for a week or so and it will fix itself?
Thanks for your advice,

For anyone interested or in the same situation, my battery is as good or better than ever. I just charged my phone turned it off charged again until full (about 5 mins) turned back on and just used my phone. Phone has been running for over 22 hours now and battery is still at 40%
Much happier now

after using my mobile for few minutes, my battery % reduces , but when i get into recovery page it shows the correct % of my battery and when i do the battery stat wipe, my % in mobile turns back to normal....and its not the rom problem, cause am facing it in all roms.
how to get rid of this thing or any way to wipe the battery stat in the rom itself?
s there any one 2 help me with this?

what you mean by recalibrating the battery???
and then yes i am talking about my main rom, i dont use any aps..
Try to test ur battery durability. It could be there is a lack power consumption of ur battery.
U can test it by using an app that show the status of ur battery health like this attachment.

If the indication shows as 'bad' I suggest to change ur battery.
Or just simply try another battery and find the difference.

To calibrate the battery the first step is to ensure complete draining of your smartphone until it turns off automatically. You must make sure that the phone is so discharge may not be able to turn on (if it turns on, it must turn off immediately to the boot screen) Now put the device in charge, wait is charged to 100% and leave it connected for another two hours. But do not keep it too long in office after unplug the phone from the office.
Now remove the battery from the phone for 10-15 minutes and then put it back in its slot.
When the operation is completed, put back in charge the phone and wait a few minutes (5-10 minutes) after you turn on your smartphone, wait until it is started and disconnect the terminal from the battery charger.
Sorry for my bad English but I am Italian:laugh:
