[Q] Galaxy S2 Normal running temperature ? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I overclocked my s2 to 1.6ghz and when i play 3d high graphics games the temperature goes around 40c to 48c is this normal it happens when i run at 1.2ghz as well just the phone fells less warm then when i do it on 1.6ghz what is the normal running temperature on a galaxy s2 im mostly running on 29 Celsius on idle this is battery temperatures

Yes it is normal, say thank you to Samsuck .
Ofc at 1.6 the problem is probably (at least it make sense) a bit more compared to 1.2.

Phone too hot to touch after 5 minutes of gaming.

Hi all, running lite'ning rom 1.4 and just played order and chaos for 5 minutes and the phone became too hot to touch! Surely this shouldn't be right, i mean what the hell! Anyone else have this?

Actually yes, many people have this. It's the CPU overheating.Beware,it doesn't get hotter than other CPUs on the market, but heat disipation on the GS2 is minimal as the phone is so thin.
The only thing you can try is lowering the CPU clock to 1000Mhz or even 800Mhz when gaming. You can even boost your GPU to 400Mhz up from 267Mhz and don't overheat then. There will also be no performance hit as games run mainly on the GPU and two cores running at 1GHz are more than enough to handle the background.
I havent noticed the phone getting super hot as some people have noted. I do notice that it does get a lot hotter if its plugged in and charging while playing a game. Are you by chance charging while playing? If so, I'd try and play while not charging to see if it gets really hot still.
No this isnt while charging and it literally was 5 minutes of playing! How do I change the cpu and gpu speeds safetly?
it also depends on the game itself, many of them are just poorly programmed
to your question: setcpu is the app.

I dont have an SGS2 yet but your statement has a total flaw, if games mainly use the GPU then there should be zero need to underclock the CPU.

Have you ever seen anything running on the GPU ONLY?What I mean is that the GPU processes the graphics, which are important when playing a game. The CPU takes on other tasks, like opponent's AI(artificial intelligence),background and foreground code running and many other things.Sound maybe? All these things keep the CPU running at 100% for no reason.Lower the clock and voila!
Check first before you try to say I'm wrong next time.I don't usually say bullsh!t with such things.

[Q] CPU Temperature

Hey.
I rooted my Evo 3D GSM.
I have LeeDrOiD newest ROM and LeeDrOiD Kernel.
With this rom CPU is stock in 1.5ghz and the CPU temperature after Six Guns playing like 10 minutes is 45C. Is is normal?
I want to OC it to 1.72ghz but dunno about temperatures. Should I risk it?
The max is 1.92Ghz but i think my CPU will just set on fire.
But the real question is what is the normal temperature for this CPU?
Is 45C after 10 min of Six Gun gaming or NeoCore benchmark okay?
I dont know the norm but will OK up to 60c

[Q] Getting hot whilst playing Mass Effect Infiltrator?

I've been playing Mass Effect Infiltrator for the last few days but my GS2 is getting really hot, up by the camera. Battery is warn but okay.
Anybody else get this or does anybody know what tweaks I can use with Fluxi kernel to solve this?
I have tried undervolting but only by 50mV per frequency, my GS2 doesn't seem to like undervolting.
My current set up:
GT-I9100
Slim ICS 3.8
Fluxi RC5.1
xxTweaker settings:
General
CPUIdle mode= AFTR + LPA
CPU
Maximum= 1200MHz
Maximum suspend= 800MHz
Minimum= 200MHz
Minimum suspend= 200MHz
CPU Voltage=
All frequencies: 200-1200MHz minus 50mV
Governor= Ondemand
All other xxTweaker settings are stock.
Any advice please?? TIA
Swyped from a distant star, the other side of the Galaxy on my Slim ICS powered GT-I9100©
Sounds normal to me. Game like that is going to be both CPU/GPU intensive. Not a great deal you can do about it. Obviously don't play it while the phone is on charge which will make it even worse.
temperature >50°C = not good
With SetCPU you can make a notification if the temperautre is more than 50°C, then take a short break and go on
sorry for bad engllish
Well its normal i guess
I tried the game on my stock gb 2.3.6 rooted with speedmode kernel
No overclock or underclock or undervolt..etc
And yes the game does heat up ur device like most of hd games like gameloft games
My device even gets worm by multi tasking
Generally my device is always 33temp when multi tasking and stuff like that
When gaming goes +40 depends om the game u play
I hate the over heat on galaxy s2 alot specially in summer it gets really hot... in winter i dont notice over heat that much..
Sent from my GT-I9100 press thanks if i helped

[Q] overheating killing me

sorry for the new thread
but its 7 months with the same problem
i know its quad core processor but its now a reason for 59.2°C only using whatsapp ,Fb , twitter ETC

I underclocked mine to about 1.1 ghz lol. Still gets into the 40C range but never burning hot anymore without slowdown

Which app did you use to underclock it
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
I used Tegra Overclock, couldn't get the other apps to make everything stick properly.
What's the ambient temperature in your city?
Now that it's over 36°C here my HOX+ (underclocked at 1.150GHz, no UV) is sitting around at ~35°C on idle and climbs up to 46°C with low or medium usage (but with data on). During the night temps are lower by two to three degrees and rarely goes up to 48°C even when gaming. Inside an air conditioned room (and, I guess, when winter comes) temps are down to 27°C to 33°C.
Start with underclocking, possibly undervolting, and if you have a case get it out when it gets too hot, it could help with dropping the temperature one or two degrees.

What is the difference between underclocking and undervolting. And how can I undervolt my phone

Heating when playing light games for 10 minutes... normal?

I got my OPX yesterday, and I love it. Battery life is good, I have SOT of 3 hours and still 43% left.
However, when playing light games, it reaches 60°C very quickly. For example Minecraft PE with low render distance.
My GPU is underclocked to max 330mhz, my CPU is not underclocked but undervolted (-75mv). Using blu.spark kernel on Oxygen 2.2.1.
The battery is draining a lot faster when playing as well.
Is this normal?
Edit: It's much better with CPU limited to 1.2GHz. But a bit laggy.
With 1.2GHz is only goes up to 49°C.
I would manually set voltages until they're the lowest you can go. I've never had mine heat up and I run emulators. You should be able to bring your max clock speed to around 980mv or so which for me has never produced heat. I have my phone over clocked to 2.57ghz and I've never had any problems with heat.

If you ever decide to switch to Boeffla I have a profile called Swell that I work on and have published. Haven't used Blu Spark since I started using Boeffla when it was released
