Try installing plan b on your device from the android market online. It will let you track it if it has data still on

Edit: it's market.android.com on your browser, and plan b is made by the lookout security guys
Thank you

Phone is still active. I've been installing apps on it remotly and been allowing then to I.stall paid apps so they they feel like keeping it. Due to a failed root attempt with odin a while back the phone has no recovery and hence no way to delete any user data. Factory data reset won't work until a new recovery is flashed. It's off right now but I keep calling it and it appears he turns it on every couple hours to mess with it. I have all info to be able to track it but the beat I've done is within 2500 feet. I need an apk that will remotly turn gps on to narrow the search. Can't wait till I find this guy im not happy about my wifes rights beinf violated like this. Thank you for anyone's help. Bounty stands as its cheaper than the deductible.

I 2nd the use of Plan B. It should be able to turn on the GPS automatically after it is installed, and you can restart the locate process through a text message to your phone.
Installed.....no email. I even texted locate like the instructions said. Nothing..

Try this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.antivirus.trial&feature=more_from_developer . This trial version lasts long enough for you to be able to locate it (I suppose). Notice this feature: "Find your lost or stolen phone and locate it on a map" . It should help you.
Is there any options for if they happened to change to Google account linked to the phone?

Yeah no go man. I know who it is name DOB. My wife works at a blood bank that pays out to donors she gets her car broken into. I traced the phone to a local town ten minutes away. Got it down to an address. Then at 700 am lost find finder sends me the same gps location as the night before. Same place but this time not in the yard the dot on the map is right on the house. 704 I'm in the car. Arrive to find an empty sqwat house for doing dope. Show pictures of people who we googled from that street that had mugshots from previous arrests to the curious neighbors. The point out one picture as a guy who used to live there. Said he comes at night still and gets high. Ok now I'm interested in this dude. Was told by a niegbor check some apartments on the other side of town. Get there and ask around to people leaving to work. Find a guy who says yeah they're always in apartment x... Then same gentleman tells us his car was broken into same way samething grab the purse walk away grab wallet out of purse and anything looks good and drop the purse in a bust ten feet away. Check records at wufes work same guy donated same time phone was stolen. He finished donating at 240 at 250 on camera you can see them breaking into the car at her work with just there back to the camera. No face shots. Go figure police are worthless. They don't even want the address we gps located. I'm close to this guy I tell ya. I'm gonna find him recovered phone or not and get ours . Just still trying to track the phone out.

I'm trying to find a locking app similar to the lock on my iPad, when the phone is rebooted or sleep for more the 2 hours the iPad requires a code to unlock. But during normal use it's just normal unlocking. Anybody know of a Android app that would be similar?
Thought my note slipped out my pocket the.other afternoon while working on my truck and didn't realize I didn't have it till later that night, the last time I used it was outside my apartments with my truck and I automatically thought it fell and somebody found it and took it. Tried to call it but it just kept going straight to voicemail so that definitely made me think it was stolen since my.phone wasn't off before. But I.found it later under the seat in my truck haha. I want a.locking app so if it does get taken and the person turns it off and tried to turn it back on then it will ask for a code and lock them out

I don't know if it supports 2 hours as an interval, but the stock rom does this. Home, menu, settings, security, I think. Somewhere in there is the option to set the time after which your PIN will be requested.

I wish we have something like HTC sense provides. Locate phone and if stolen you can delete contents of the phone from the HTC sense website.

A while back I lost my streak and I'd call it and it ring and go to voice mail except once someone rejected the same call and I knew someone had it. Lookout has an app that's called plan b that you can install remotely and will activate your gps so you can find it. Long story short I retrieved my streak and the guy who took it and wouldn't return it ended up with a broken car window. I also believe there's an app out there that'll completely lock your phone down too. Check lookout's suite of software, they may have something for you

Try out Cerberus it can remotely take pictures using the front or back camera and it emails the picture to you, bad guys face is there and also can use the back camera to figure out where they are. GPS locator remotely wipe SD and phone memory and also can set up other people's numbers (that you trust obviously) that you can send a wipe message to your phone from as well through text.
And its only $4 for a lifetime license.
I wanna know cuz i've been trying to use it twice now and i get embarrassed cuz i end up having to pay with money. whenever i put it on the pay pass with the screen on and unlocked, it does nothing.... am I doing something wrong????
I've been wondering the same question. Walgreens and McDonalds both haven't worked for me while showing no errors.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
When you look at those machines they should have a green status light.....I went to sprint and tried it once on 5 machines didn't work then when I went to Walgreens and CVS I noticed that both of their machines had a green light on the pay pass icon or on the top. I'm going to state obvious but sometimes the NFC gets checked off I've noticed...

I went to jack in the box and it worked once, went again after I rooted and followed all instructions correctly so I don't brick nfc and tried again with no success.

Some places have turned the speed pass off, like someone said make sure the light is on, on the speed pass. I was in a sprint store also and it didn't work but was told it was turned off for reconfiguration.

In the Mastercard PayPass locator app on the market, if you click on a location that reports that it has PayPass, it gives you the option to report problems, including if the Site isn't working.
I don't know how fast they are about fixing problems (or if they actually fix them). But hey, it's worth a shot if you frequent the place.

Same here. 7-11 always works for me.
I work at a cvs part time. I don't know about all stores but the ones I've been to around my home always work. I've only seen a few people actually pay with Google wallet but it was pretty cool when I saw it. Just make sure you hold it there for a good 2 seconds or so.

Wawa has worked for me every time since release day. Have yet to try it anywhere else. I wonder if it will work at the Exxon gas pumps that have the SpeedPass. Anyone try it yet?
Just tried it at a local jack in the box and it isn't working for them. Green light was on and everything.

I am in the exact same boat. 2nd time I have tried at McDonalds and I had to pay cash both times.
How do I know if my NFC is bricked? My wallet comes up and says $10 balance on my Google Card... I press the phone to the machine and it kind of just pops up with the Wallet Icon..
I look dumb but I want to get it to work.
Am I bricked? Is there even a way to tell?
I haven't had any problems at CVS except for once when I had my data connection turned off.
I guess best place to go is 7-11.

okay so while i was at the fair tonight, i rode one too many rides and threw up on myself and had to go home (lame me) and in the process of getting in the car i stripped down to my boxers and shoes in order to not get vomit all in my car. well stupid me forgot to take my phone, which i had layed on top of the car, off of the top of the car before i left and didn't realize it until i got home... my question is does anyone know any apps that can decently ping the phone without the gps being on (or turn the gps on and do it) it has my google account on it so i can load apps but i can't set them up... please help i just got this phone last week and love it...
There are plenty of free apps in the play store under 'lost phone' - everyone I've ever tried you had to setup on your phone first. Do you have insurance? Either way brother, good luck finding it.

i am on cm10
I am looking for some assistance in locating a lost HTC Rezound.
The device was lost earlier this week and was turned on again this evening.
I am monitoring the device via the Verizon Wireless "Check Text Status" online app. https://text.vzw.com/vtext/dashboard/Checkstatus.do
The device was receiving texts this evening, I tried calling it, it was on and receiving!
I have tried a few apps that claim to be installable via the Play store and remotely activate themselves, but I havent had any luck when the device is on. It doesnt look like whomever has the device in hand was uninstalling the apps immediately. I tried: Plan B, Wheres My Droid Lite, and AndroidLost.com.
Does anyone know of some app that actually works?
Thanks for you help in advanced friends!
If you report it to Verizon I think they can GPS track it, as well as remotely SIM lock it. I could be totally wrong though, I've never reported a stolen phone.

You could try "android lost" and I think they (theis Borg) have another app that helps with remotely locating. If you get it working you can do all sorts of things. Make your phone talk, take pictures using the front and rear camera, etc. Good luck

You really think it's a smart idea to confront whomever stole your device? Here is what I would do:
Step 1: call Verizon and report it stolen.
Step 2: suck it up and call insurance, pay $99 for a refurb.
Step 3: don't lose the phone again.
Glad I could help.

thanks to those who had positive input!!
snowride20: you didnt help btw. i really enjoy though how you think outside the box and how intelligent you are. next time keep your bull**** to yourself lamer.
conclusion:
an app finally reported its gps location via a link to a longitude/latitude google map. after calling the police and filling out a stolen device report, they went with us to the location. the officer knocked on doors and asked questions but was unable to recover the device.

I bet they just said they didnt have it but actually did.
There was a story in the news here in Colorado where someone tracked a stolen phone and police ended up busting an unknown meth lab. Not sure if it actually occurred in Colorado though. Just thought I'd share, sorry for your loss

Cool! You could recover your phone AND get high! :cyclops:
Just wanted to vent. Put it down in the WaWa, sometime picked it up, with her purse, and took off!
Android Device Manager, not so useful. Tracked the phone until it was turned off, I sent lock and wrote commands which was accepted but have no clue if it really went through. Verizon says it's dead, even on skell services like frawg.
Asurion replacement coming, rep assured it'll be new and not a refurbished unit. Insurance it's a good thing. Venting over.
Thank God for insurance. Opportunists everywhere. That's why mine is always on hand, in my pocket or on the table in front of me. Sorry for your wife's loss. Hope it's backed up!
Next time you should install the remote tazer app for just these situations.

Or a way to sort the lithium battery. Explosive "fun".
That sucks someone tried to steal my gf's phone on the bus one day but thankfully there was a cop at the stop that was able to get him. and yes insurance is a life saver!
Someone tried stealing my phone. Unlucky for him I work with a lot of cops and used a plan b app. Locked the phone (to where it can't even be turned off without pin, none removable battery), tracked it as I could then activated a siren function.
Guy was pulled out of a cafe with a siren alarming phone by cops while I unlocked the phone, proving it was mine.
Good thing for insurance though. Never trust provider to track it.
