Samsung-acount - why ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Samsung Galaxy S2
When I look under "Settings" - "Accounts and sync" I have an account called "Samsung-account". It is not an account I have created and are therefore incomprehensible how it got there and what purpose it has - someone who can help?

Maybe you need it to log in when you use Kies air or if you want to use the Samsung tool to find the phone when it's lost or stolen.
I don't think it does anything important (strange that it's there although you didn't do anything, can you delete it or does it just want you to set up the Samsung account?

[Q] Editing google groups in android

Hi
Today I synchronised my google contacts to my samsung galaxy tab 8.1 with android 2.2
but now i have the problem that i cant edit the membership from my google contacts.
Is that possible to edit the memberships from google contacts ?

I don't think you can edit Google groups directly from android, at least on my Galaxy S (captivate) I can't, that tab might be different. You can use a computer and log into your account or I use "Group Manager" available from the market, whichs allow full editing/creation of the groups on the phone, might work for the Tab
that was an option that i searched, thanks

[Q] Cant log into samsung account to update, also wrong location in some widgets

Well as title says, I cannot log into samsung account when I go to software update in settings. I even tried making a new one and it just won't go or says account already exists. I can log in fine on the computer. just no in tablet. Also some widgets have found my location as in Texas or even the UK and this has happened while googling as well.
I have the same problem, did you find the fix?
Yea I also can't sign into my Samsung account . Any ideas?

Don't try to log in with samsung Apps. I was able to log in by adding my samsung account to my sync accounts. That fixed the problem for me.

Removing Samsung Account sync, security issue?

I just update my sgs2 to ICS and noticed a problem/issue, probably already there.
There are these security options 'FIND MY MOBILE', these are pretty useful.
Naturally you can't uncheck these options without using you Samsung Account password.
The problem is that you can easily bypass this step by deleting the Samsung Account in the Sync options. Removing this account will automatically uncheck the 'FIND MY MOBILE' options.
It doesnt require anything to delete the Samsung account sync.
Is this normal?.
I know it is not as good now because under GB you couldn't delete the account unless you were rooted and knew which files to manually delete. Now under ICS it is just easy to delete it.
so far as i know is isnĀ“t possible to delete an registered account. only u register a second account to ur phone u can delete the first 1

[Q] Contacts on Google overriding changes in Android 4.0.3 Galaxy S II

Hello!
I have the Samsung Galaxy SII - GT-I9100 model, running unmodified Android 4.0.3 and whenever I make a change to any contact on my phone (it's marked as a Google Contact, btw), it stays that way until I synchronize my account with google, when the contact will then be reverted to the way it is on Google.
I have no idea what's wrong and it has been like this ever since I bought the phone. If I go to my Google account and change a contact through the web, my cell phone will sync and bring the changes from the google server, but the opposite (pushing changes to the server) won't happen.
All my contacts are orgnized and stored in the "My contacts" group. My contacts application is showing only the contacts on the google account, so there's no conflict with any contacts that might be stored locally on the phone (I've deleted all the phone and SIM contacts just to make sure nothing like that gets in the way).
I'd appreciate any help you guys could provide. I'm not willing to root or install any other ROM on this phone, I'd like to keep it stock for several reasons, warranty being one of the most important.
Thank you very much!
I just updated the Android version to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and uninstalled any contacts manager I might have had (Go Contacts Ex) and tried again, but to no avail.
Anyone else with the same problem? Does this have anything to do with the "My Contacts" group on Google Contacts? All these contacts are stored in that group. I haven't changed since I organized all my contacts when I bought the phone.
If anyone could help, I'd pay you a beer (or a dozen, perhaps).
Thanks!
This thread is probably dead by now, and i'm not sure if anybody has figured out a solution to this issue. However i did find an intermediate solution with an app called "InTouchAPP" available in the playstore. It is an alternative solution to going through google's server in saving contacts. It integrates seamlessly with your phone, and you sign up for a username and password so you may never lose your contacts again.
I was having an issue in which i would save a new number and name it. Seconds later the name of the number would disappear. I tried going to directly to gmail.com and adding a contact and it would work. My only explanation was that my phone was not pushing information to the google server however google server was constantly overriding any new numbers i added on my phone.
If anybody has a better solution please share.
Best Regards,
Jonathan

Question Question about Samsung Pass (Solved)

I recently started using my late son's S22+. When I add an app and log in to it I get asked if I want to have Samsung Pass remember the password. It is set up for his Pass account. I have my own Samsung account from a tablet but I don't see a way to add it to this phone so I can use it.
For sentimental reasons, I don't want to wipe this phone and start from scratch. Is there a way to add my Samsung account to this phone to use my own pass on it?
Thanks for any info.
You can't have two Samsung Pass accounts on the same device. You will have to remove his old account and then add yours. It won't wipe the phone.

Click to collapse
That worked. Thanks.
