With the latest KI4 Firmware update for SGS2 Samsung has upgraded the OS to Android 2.3.4. Nevertheless, I still can't see Video/Audio chat options in Google Talk 1.3
Can anyone confirm whether Google Talk Video chat is working on SGS2 running KI4?
Thanks!
None of the latest revisions have Google Talk Voice/Video activated. If you want to install it, you're going to have to root/install a version with it.

Hi guys, i'm pretty familar with most of the ROMS available for the G-Tab and so far between calks, vegan 5.1.1, vegan ginerbread, and CM7 all have not supported the popular Tango app that i use on my epic 4g when I want to video chat with my family. Does anyone know of an app that is compatible with the G Tablet that allows you to video conference with other android phones or Iphones?
ReelPortal - good try for the developers but just wasn't on par with Tango
Qik- haven't tried but is it really working on all Roms? or just some
Yahoo Messenger- Supposedly this works but does anyone know if you can chat with Iphone 4 users?
If you have been able to get Tango to work, did you #1 have to edit your build.prop in the market fix to call other users?
#2 which rom are you using?
#3 Is the video still sideways as reported in a thread back in December?
Hi,
My Galaxy S2 is unrooted and it is running Android 2.3.3.
What app do I need to video call over Wi-Fi? I've tried Skype and Google Talk but I cannot find this option?
Do I have to update to Android 2.3.4 to enable video calling via Skype or Google Talk?
Many thanks for your help.
Correct..... in theory you should be on 2.3.4 to use video on google talk, however, you can install a custom rom (needs root) to have this on google talk feature, I dont think you can use google video feature without root at this time in moment until 2.3.4 is released..
I use rom "lightning" that has this feature, never used it tho because everyone I know doesnt have it ..
Also what was not mentioned:
Skype on Android does not yet support video calling (except for the htc thunderbolt).
Currently you have two good options I think:
- Root your phone. Then either apply a custom rom that already has the latest google talk app included that supports video calling or install the latest google talk app yourself (without custom rom).
- Try out Tango. Among the video calling apps that are available on Android this seemes to deliver one of the best video quality. Alternatively you can give Fring a try.
Skype has video calling with the samsung galaxy s2.
Open Skype, Then touch the menu button on the phone, press settings, then scroll down to Video calls and check Eneble video calling and adjust the setting for it.
It works, I use it. Enjoy.
Does anyone know if there is anyway to get the 2.3.4 version of google talk working and on the flyer?

I ran into the same problem. Here is what I did to get Skype to work.
Background - G-Tablet running Android 2.3.7 (Kernel cyanogenmod 2.6.32.48)
Removed Skype that I downloaded from the Play Store
Install version 16 from here (Great job on this version by the way)

Go to menu-advanced settings and check the following:
Force-enable video-calling Enable video-calling on your device! - check
Force camera rotation Should enable camera rotation functionality! - check
Avoid setFPS Black video? Bive this a try.. - check
If you find that you now have video, but the rotation is off, go to the regular settings of the table and make sure all of the degrees of rotation are checked.
Good Luck
idk if those custom roms can do that, i m running stock rom, and i can do video calls, by skype with no problem.
I'm running CM7, and when I open Google Talk I don't have the option for voice or video chat.
Google says video chat works for 2.3.6 and up, and CM7 is 2.3.7.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks
