Hi guys,
I have a question and i can´t find the answer anywhere...
I'm with Glsmt 2.1 (2.3.3) and i wanna flash a 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 ROM.
Do i have to flash a diferent modem before i flash the new ROM?
Can i do it via clockworkmod? Or just via ODIN?
Where can i find the most recent modems? i have registerd in samfirmware but i can't find the files i need... :S
Someone can help me?
Thanks!
U can keep the current modem, the newest modem for Europe is S5830XWKPA its in S5830XWKPY_S5830XWKPA_S5830XEUKP1 firmware
And how can i flash that firmware considering that i have a custom ROM at the moment?
Thanks!
Firmware or MODEM??
MODEM ... assuming that i only need the newest modem to flash a 2.3.4 ROM... Do i need to have the newest firmware before i flash a 2.3.4 ROM? Sorry man, i'm confused
If you want to flash CM7,
1. download the zip from Galaxy Ace S5830 Android Development section either Cyano Ace or the KANG build (if using KANG build don't forget to download
Fixes: cm-7.1.0-RC1-AllFixes-Grif_07.zip and install the same way)
2.put the archive in your SD card, boot to CM recovery select install from zip and select the zip from the list
To flash 2.3.4 rom download S5830XXKPH Firmware from Samfirmware and flash via ODIN
HOW TO FLASH IN ODIN???? USE THE SEARCH BUTTON

No (Flashing firmware replaces the whole phone memory content - EVERYTHING)and to flash firmware all you need is USB cable, ODIN, and knowin how to boot to download mode
U can flash the S5830XWKPA modem after flashin 2.3.4 (KPH firmware)
I can´t find the WKPA in samfirmware.com ... just the WKPH. But ok.
And i know how to flash in ODIN
Resuming:
1 - Use ODIN to flash a 2.3.4 firmware (S5830XXKPH)
2 - Flash a custom ROM 2.3.4 via CWM
Right?
Cheers Mate!

I've searched around and can't seem to find the solution.
I'm on WB5 w/ Doomkernel and I want to go back to 2.1, and try a fresh reinstall of everything, including unlocking my bootloader (which I also don't know how to do, since I'm using doomkernel for locked bootloaders and there's one for unlocked, and I don't want to mess up anything).
Thanks to any who answer

You can't flash a whole stock rom with xRecovery, since you can't flash kernels and basebands through it.
You should use flashtool to downgrade your phone.

Alright, I'll try it on the weekend. Thanks for the replies

Im on the new WB 5.00c and want to downgrade to 2.1.A.0.435 Global Generic ROM - Root / JIT v2 / xRecovery - Working WiFi (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936462)
it also includes a base band. Should I downgrade from the current 71 based one, after i flash the rom listed? I am as little unsure as I have always upgraded upwards. Was not sure if there was an incompatibility. I should know this by now as I have flashed many roms with xrec and flashtool also. My whole intention is to unlock the bootloader. I dont mind a full down grade since I have found 2 major issues with the wb rom, and may or may not upgrade back to it. Just need a reassurance is all.

Whenever you flash a firmware either upgrading or downgrading, just make sure that you flash the proper/compatible baseband and kernel files. These are generally provided with the firmware in the form of .tft file or the proper kernel is mentioned in the post itself!!
Here is a list of all the firmwares!!
Simply flash using Flashtool. Link is mentioned in the post itself!!
Edit: you can try the firmware mentioned in the link. Just remember to flash the Firmware files using flashtool as mentioned!!
Regards

Thanks always helps to have reassurances!

Flash cf-root kernel using Odin and use cwm to restore your backp or install a fresh rom. Next time make sure you can undo what you do to your phone before you proceed. Saves everyone alot of headache

Or you can flash a stock ROM using Odin (do not tick repartition and do not use the PIT file), and do a wipe.

Flash a CF root kernal to get to recovery and restore or after flashing CF root kernal, format system , Wipe cache and Dalvik Cache. Flash the ROM through ODIN
Download a stock rom,go to download mode and flash it through Odin.ICS is currently unstable and still many apps are not compatible with it.So wait for CM9 or official or one with less bugs and stability.Know the risk before flashing.

how do i flash stock rom with odin ?
sorry .. but just dont wrily know...
Have a look at this thread to find a rom which matches your country/carrier. There is a guide to using Odin in that thread as well. If the download links don't work, write down the name of the stock rom you want to use & search for it on Samfirmware.com & download it there.
it says near my packege
"This is still BETA firmware so don't moan if everything doesn't work. It comes with old bootloader and is non-wipe"
is it still ok to go with it ??
Which package ?
XXLPJ
and agin thanks for helpin...
That's Ok I recommend you go back to stock Gingerbread, and then have another go at ICS. XXLPJ is stock ICS, you can use it, but as the warning says, it is a beta.
I'd use a GB stock rom for your country/carrier if were in your situation.
i dont understand
what is stock Gingerbread ??
an what is GB stock ??
my carrier is orange, israel ....
which package in the guide should i use ??
GB & GingerBread are one in the same.
Choose Israel Orange stock from from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14505996&postcount=3
Use ODIN to flash
READ this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13712988&postcount=1 post for flashing with ODIN it should give you the information YOU need.
ttttttttttthhhhhhhhaaaaaannnnkkk yyoouu alll !!!!!

thank yoouuu i got my phone back
o and i wanted to ask do i have to root each time i change a rom ?
do i have to root when i change karnel ?
and is changin karnel is with odin ?
realy thanks for evrything
Glad you got it sorted
When flashing other roms or kernels, follow the instructions for flashing that rom or kernel to the letter & you shouldn't have problems.
Most custom kernels (all ?) are rooted, so you don't have to root again after installing them. And most custom kernels are flashable via CWM, tho many do have Odin flashable versions. My advice would be to stick to CWM flashable versions as this is the simplest way to flash a rom or kernel.
thanks agin...
thats what is used before
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
and my cwm just disapred how do i know
if its an odin flashable virsion or a cwm virsion ?

u can get the stock firmware (GB) pertained to ur region for I9100P either from www.sammobile.com or by typing Chekfus in google search
and flash the same thro ODIN
Thanx...i'll have a look
I flashed I9100PBVKI3_I9100PORAKI3_I9100PBVKI2 with odin v1.85 & this downgraded my phone to Gingerbread 2.3.4 (Orange).
I had to set up my internet & mms settings manually because i'm on the '3' network, other than that, all is running smoothly.
Hope this helps others that want to downgrade.

it is possible to downgrade your model. you can go to sammobile.com, make an account there (if you don't have one) and download. Flash the file via odin (if possible, use the latest version of odin).. this is the safest method i know.
Tip:
after unzipping the file you downloaded, you'll find a .tar file.. open odin (put your phone to download mode and connect it to pc) and click on the PDA button on odin and click on the .tar file you extracted.. click on start.
VOILA! you just flashed a stock firmware
I hope this helped
I have an account, but all that comes up is the ics firmware which I had already.
Didnt they have an unbranded firmware?.I wouldnt want carriers crap on my phone.
HI
I have Galaxy s2 with android 2.3.5. I want flash OMNI 4.4 rom on it..but before that I want to flash latest CWM recovery on my S2. And also my S2 doesn't have root access So the problem is
Can I flash latest CWM recovery when my S2 have android 2.3.5. ? or should I update official ICS from OTA before flash ?
(I'm planning to use ODIN to flash CWM)

Step 1 - flash CF kernel which is appropriate to ur baseband with Odin
Step 2- Flash cutom rom what ever u want
Step 3 - Flash Gapps..
Thats all :good:
You can flash CWM and then the custom ROM now itself, without upgrading to ICS. Just make sure you flash the correct rooted kernel for your baseband version. Don't directly flash any CWM or use ROM manager. Good luck!

My details
Baseband version - I9100BUKI1
Kernal Version - 2.6.35.7-I9100BUKJ3-CL647431 [email protected]#2
Build number - GINGERBREAD.BUKJ3
So can anyone give me correct CWM recovery to my S2 ? (I just want to flash kitkat rom.. )
And you can't search for this why exactly ? You've been here more than long enough to know how things work.
Flash Gustavo's kernel first and then follow instructions on the omni thread for flashing as a first time user.
Search around and you will find everything here itself.
I'd suggest flashing the latest stock rom via Odin, ms1 I believe. Then flash philz kernel. Then boot into recovery, (while your new rom cwm zips are on your SD card) format system, preload, data and cache. Then flash the omni rom zip, and the correct gapps, and any other mods you would like.
