Title says it all. I'm waiting for someone to do a tutorial how to apply this on our xperia mini pro.
Sent from my SK17i using XDA App
you do know that there is app2sd enabled by default on your sk17i, right?
link2sd is pre-froyo when there was no app2sd! No idea, why its still used... only drained my battery on my x10 mini...
I think it depends on what you are looking for.
Personally I use Link2SD on my ST18. No battery drain issues here.

Why keep free mem? For what? Its there to be used. And we have move2sd built in already.
Ofcourse u get battery drain when adding a service to monitor app installs. Same goes for the barbaric "appkillers or freemem apps" -useless

I think the SK17i has already its own appkiller under Settings\applications\Running services (the labels might be different since I've just tranlsated from the non-english labels I have on my phone). This app shows you the running processes that you may kill if you want to free mem

I found an application on the market called 'Swapper for root' , which creates a swap memory to speed up your android device.
I tried it and found some great improvement on my regular usage speed. Search ' swapper' on the market and install.
Some changes i noted-
* No lagging in 'Abduction when switching to full graphic detail
* Home screen more responsive
*Apps loading a bit faster
*ROOT REQUIRED*
Let me know if the app does good for you!
Hi. How did you measure your 30% speed increase?

I've just edited the post Read
Just tried this on my mini pro.
The app works, as far as i can see but by using the busybox free command, as recommended by the app owner, it does not use any swap memory.
There is a swap file created on the sdcard though!
Any thought on this?
Thanx for mentioning the app!

This works, thanks!

Mine does

Looks interesting, but where do I get a kernel with swap support (or just a kernel module would be fine) for x10 mini?
Ok.
I have come to know that it lags abit in some stages having rain ex japanese jump.
So i may root and install it
Thanks dude
Seems working. Thanx for sharing.

Exactly, but why do people claim it works?
Maybe a placebo effect? I dunno. Will give this a try though...
OT
Abduction works flawlessly on my x10 mini pro. Even NFS Shift works smoothly. The only app that stall in the middle of the game for me is iBasket. I have to kill some apps before playing it.
-Pabs
Abduction gets sluggish on the stage where it rains !!
Buat... The real name of the app is swap for root 2?
Thank You!
Well it works fine
How swap works
In my opinion it doesn't makes sense because swap is used just when does not there any memory ram available in the system, and if that occurs frequently there something wrong, maybe there are many apps installed; more than the phone can handle.
To know if this app is making effect, download "terminal emulator" and type "free -m". That will show how much swap space is used. If it is 0 this swap app does not make any effect.
Means it using our SDcard as RAM when the internal ram is used up?
Sure will the SDcard class type play some role too?
And running this apps in the background is also some resources eater as well as battery drainer??
Has anyone else noticed that data usage on the Xperia x10 is through the roof on Rogers after upgrading to 2.1?
I have a 500MB plan and my Rogers account says that I have now used 884MB.
There is no way I have used that much data.
Nope, all good here on Rogers 2.1.
are you using a 3rd party app to keep an eye on the usage?

Not as of yet. Currently I have shut this phone off and gone back to my crappy Samsung A736. I will wait untill my billing period reverts and fire it back up again for testing. What app is best for data tracking?

I prefer PhoneUsage, and with it you can set daily limits, too
Check over your bill when it comes. I have a buddy with an x10 on Rogers who noticed a charge for something called "zap video". He found he was using between 1.5 GB per month until he unsubscribed from zap video.
I use my phone fairly heavily and usually use around 500 MB each month with my x10 on 2.1 with a lot of widgets that update from the web.

Im on generic 2.1 and have the same problem, some app is chowing my data when im not even using the phone...the only apps i know that can identify which app it is can only work on 2.2 upwards...any app u guys know that can monitor app per app on generic 2.1?
Try using the app, APNdroid, to stop data when not using it. It has a quick on/off toggle widget for the homescreen.
Get droidwall you can block certain apps from being able to use your data connection

This works the best so far.
It may be that some apps you use have hidden ads.

Great solution, but only works with custom kernel, stock doesn't support netfilters.

I think you are wrong. Droidwall requires iptables firewall to work correctly. You may have had it on your phone, but it wasn't working. Try setting rules and you'll see.

yes i have got that app APNDROID but i dont like to use it coz i use whatsapp which needs my phone to access internet.
The intresting thing is that when i have switched off internet access with the APN app there is a sinc sign on my top toolbar of my phone which means that there is an app continously trying to sync with something, the problem is that i cannot identify witch app it is.
Hey i was just wandering whats the best app for autokilling apps?
cuz i need one bad for my battery to last longer
Please post up some suggestions and the link to download it
Hey there,
Not sure about everyone else but i use Advanced Task Killer, im sure you can get it off the market. Sorry but because im new i cannot post links just search google and it will come up =]
I use the base version and it does everything it says on the tin.. comes with adds during use though but nothing to hinder its job.
(Requires root i believe)
PS. If your looking to save battery see if set cpu does your phone any good, on my huawie ideos when i have lowered the cpu to 250 my battery lasts about a week if left at that speed.
Thanks for the tip man!
But i already have that app i just want to try out something new
to see which one is better!
Try MinFreeManager
I tried it
But it doesnt fill my needs!
so ill just stick to my old method
Killing apps manually each time i unlock my phone!
its better to do manual kills rather than auto..it takes much from ur memory and it will cause your phone slower.

Actualy, there was a comprehensive discussion on android blog about this and they suggested not to use auto kill apps. I do use App Killer Pro, but i use it only for testing purposes...
So whenever I play an heavier game (Ex.: Gameloft's Tintin, Backstab, Blood and Glory, etc), it crashes after a random amount of time, usually between 5 and 20 minutes. Is this normal?
I already tried V6 supercharger, underclocking the phone and removing several apps and widgets to free some RAM, but to no avail...
Details:
- Xperia Neo running 4.0.2.A.0.42, rooted (ZergRush exploit);
- Bloatware removed + 36 SE apps moved to the SD;
- Go Launcher + 4 widgets (Go Clock + Go Calendar + Widgetsoid + Minimalistic Text);
36 SE apps moved to the SD
Should you be even doing that ???!!
Im guessing its due to you moving the SE apps to SD
Games worked fine before you moved the 36files ??
Underclocking?
I think you could better overclock than underclock if you experience this problem. I use inteks kernel v15 and i never experienced any stability issues at 1,4 GHz.
Yes, try to overclock the CPU.
But it's the game that crashes or it's the phone that it reboots?

Those apks represent widgets, applications and functionality I don't use (such as Timescape + Timescape Plugins, Chinese keyboard + Skins, SE Store, etc). I know what they do and the problem persists whether or not they are installed.

It's the game that crashes. No warning, the screen goes black and it quits to the home screen.

Thanks for the tip, but I really don't want to unlock the bootloader just in case I have a defective unit.
So are you guys saying that you don't have this issue with any of the games I mentioned above? Is it possible that my phone has some obscure issue that prevents it from working properly? Should I try another ROM? This issue also occurred in 2.3.3...
Quick Question :
What app did you use to move the SE apps to SD ??

I didn't want to move those apps - I wanted to removed them and keep a backup on the SD card. And yes, I also use Apps2SD.

Hi! I'm not sure what I can do to test the card. I'm going to try a couple of utilities on my PC right now to see if I have any luck...
Problem solved.
Just for reference, I formatted the SD card and flashed the phone (wipe user data). Right now I installed 70% of the apps I that used to have and the games work fine.
It's also noticeably faster than before... I'm not really sure what was slowing it down.
I just curious about ram usage on my x10 using feralabs rom for locked bootloader.
If I go to settings---applications---running services it says 168 used and around 20-25 free MB but as far as I know user available ram is 287 MB.
Also, go launcher ex shows around 240/287 MB used ram.
what else is using my ram? and why difference in settings and go launcher ram info?
Its normal mate... When I owned a xperia x10... Faced the same issue... But later came to know it was OK!

Install an app ZDbox, it has great widget called task killer. When you tap it, it will show running apps.
Or if you want extra and complete control even with system running apps, the install OSmonitor, it will show completely all of apps.
