[Q] Cut the Rope not Compatible with Atrix? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just after I woke up this morning I checked my apps in the market for any updates and realized Cut the Rope was no longer in my list. When I search for it in the market on my phone it's not even there, but on my browser it's there. I did notice in the browser market that it said "this app is incompatible with your atrix". I find that odd since I can play it just fine. Anyone else have this problem?

Nope. Try clearing the data in the app management & restart the market, that usually helps

App works on Attrix. I think problem is with market. Try to search for "old market" version here. I think it may be 2.3.6 or something like that.

Clearing the data didn't work. Could it be something with changing my LCD density settings making it seem incompatible? The game works perfectly fine that's the thing, just not in my market anymore...I'll try the old market.
Update: old market still doesn't show the game in my app list or when searched for.

Changing your LCD density causes the market to believe some apps are incompatible

That's what I thought. I haven't touched my LCD density in ages though and Cut the Rope showed in the Market fine. Do you know the default dpi for the Atrix so I can try reverting back? Right now I have:
3.75 WVGA == 248dpi
4.0 qHD == 275dpi
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
dalvik.vm.heapsize=42m
Update: It seems like 240 is the default so I'm stumped...

Install GetJar and download Cut The Rope for free..

I have it on my atrix and it is working fine. I downloaded mine from Amazon App Store when it was showcased as a free app. I am running CM7 and have no issues what so ever. I even got an update to it over this last weekend and still no issues....

I think it's 240. I had the same problem with the market and switched back to the old. The Alien Rom has a zip for the old market available and make sure you freeze Market Updater 1.0 with Titanium or else it will keep updating back to the new.

I tried reverting back and still nothing.

Once you revert back to previous settings, you need to clear the market data and restart. It should work as normal after that.

Hbo go on 2.3.4

So I use hbo go alot for my commute and just upgraded to nayvalants cherryrom 2.3.4. Hbo go doesn't show up on the market anymore, not compatible anymore, so I restored a backup from titanium. It works fine until I go to load a video and ut just keeps loading. Any ideas if its because of compatibility issues or is there someway to fix?

If it helps eliminate some theories:
I'm on OTA 2.3.4 , HBO Go not in market, but had it installed already previously. Plays videos fine.
Maybe try uninstalling and re-backing up ..
or it could be specific to nayvalants rom?
Some people have been reporting that apps are missing in the Market after flashing to 2.3.4.
Also, are either of you using the new leaked Market?
If so, this will cause data connection drops, and can show files as downloading for long periods before they time out.
If you are on the new Market, suggest you revert back by Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > select Market > select Uninstall Updates.

Regular market.
Its on Market version 3.0.26 which i assume is the new version since it has a completely new look to it. If it is the new one, its the one that came installed with the rom. What are you recommendations?
eh? do i have to install the old version of market? what version # is that?

No, I'm on the old market version and HBO GO is not on there for me via 2.34 OTA. I have it from when I was 2.2.2
Not in the market for me, either. Ken's beta 4.5, AT&T. Didn't there used to be a market enabler somewhere? I'm betting AT&T blocks it.

is there a way to downgrade the market to the old version? the new market wont let me dl anything anymore, says there is not enough room on the device...
Not blocked just may not be 2.3.4 compatible

search online for the latest .apk youll find it and manually install it. still works HBO just needs to update their app but im guessing that wont happen till we get an official gingerbread release
anyone know where to get the old vending.apk? I can't find one.
I upgraded to nayvalant's 1.1 with the old market and HBO still doesn't show up in the market. I restored my backup of HBO and it still doesn't work. Guess it truly isn't compatible with 2.3.4
Works fine for me...

I posted it wasn't a matter of old vs new market. It doesn't show up at all.
It DOES work though, just doens't show up in market. Works perfectly fine on 2.3.4 so maybe it's a nayvalant thing where it doesn't play for you.
and the reason for not posting a link to the 1.03 version ?!?!
i hav 1.02 might be the reason.
not gonna share the link??

I don't have a link... but I flashed samcripp's ninja rom today and HBO GO shows up when I search in the market. It's either ninja rom or the HBO app updated to show up in 2.3.4 market. Try a search again.
Just installed ninja rom and HBO works and appeared in the market. Must just be something specific navalynt's rom. Thnx!

[Q] Word With Friends

I had Words with Friends on my Nook that was running Phiremod 6.1
It was working fine up until yesterday. I didnt update anything. When I opened WWF it said there was an update and it took me to the android market website where it said that the app was not compatible with my nook. I uninstalled it and tried to install it again but now I dont have the option to install it. Anyone else having the same issues?
same here im running phiremod 6.3 i even found an apk cause it wont download in market.im hoping WWF fixes this..
Same here - I'm running CM7. I'm hoping Zynga fixes this.
Yes I am having the same issues , running cm7 off sd card . When I open the words with friends it opens a window to update, I cant get around it. When I do try to update it it sayes the color nook is incompatiable . And yet it wont let me not update. All my family have ipod touchs and iphones and havent had this issue .
Same problem as well. Running Phiremod Nook v7 TEST. I installed the APK from the XDA site originally, but it seems like that version has now been blocked by Zynga - I get the update dialog that I cannot dismiss.
Tried uninstalling, but now I can't even open the APK from the links here to reinstall.
Settings- applications- find market- uninstall updates- download it with the old market.

That fixed it. Uninstalling the Updates to the Market did the trick. For some reason the new market doesnt allow a bunch of apps to work with a modified Nook.
that didnt work for me after clearing updates for market it still comes back as the new market..

The old Market trick works. You have to be quick though, else it updates again and you have to go through it again.
thank you I am back up running the words with friends with the old market
Reverting back to the old Market , allowed me to download game from market . All is well now . Thanks
Is there an APK floating around that i can send someone?
so there is no way to get it without reverting back to the old market? :-/

You could also change your dpi to 160 and then delete market data to continue to use the new market but it will eventually go back to the way it is now and you'll have to clear market data again.

Some apps in market not compatible?

I've noticed with a few apps I've gotten "Your device is not compatible with this item" I have gotten around that by finding upload links in threads but what is the real work around for this? I know for a fact that the app it told me wasnt compatible actually works.
I've run into this too. Hope to figure out an answer.

The answer most likely is that the Samsung Galaxy i777 is so new right now
that when developers create the code to their apps most likely are required to
enter or add into their app coding and or database the exact phone names
and models to which they are compatible with before the market allows the
people to download it...........
Just a way to keep the market safer and from getting thousands of complaints
damm , and I wanted to try that wifikill app. Hopefully the creator has a direct link in his thread on xda.
Someone said in that app thread that its because I may have changed my dpi settings, and I did in the build.prop file but I changed it back and I'm still getting the error so I think Misterjunky is correct.

What would the pixel density have to do with any of that? That absolutely is not true as I have the ATT version of the phone and my room mate has the Epic 4G Touch version of this phone. Both are rooted and his is still stock ROM mine is listed below in my signature. My Pix density is 200 and his is stock 240. Both of our markets show as having not compatible apps for our phones such as Adobe Flash and Netflix...Yet We both have the apps on our phones just older versions. When you search them out they are there and claim to have updates but will not let you install. I flashed the UnNamed 1.0.3 ROM to my phone just a few days ago I did a wipe and reset of the phone, after rebooting and customizing (including changing the build.prop file for density) for a short period of time I was able to search out and update Adobe Flash to version 11 and the latest version of Netflix. I go back after a few hours and restoring from TIBU and noticed one of my apps "Make your clock" was the old version I had in my backups that I must have restored over the newer version downloaded earlier in the day from the market updates. I went to update the app and I was not able to do it, now it is not compatible with my phone. I thought at first it was just paid type apps that were doing this and then I investigated and noticed the Flash and Netflix apps were in the list. That threw out any type of security issues that may be trying to be implemented on paid apps now. But is may be something to do with files or sizes related to TIBU and restoring files from backups.
I can confirm that some of the apps in the market will show as incompatible when you change your LCD density. This may not be the only reason, but I have seen this behavior on the Facebook, Skype and YouTube apps.
I just set my density back to 240, restarted, downloaded/updated, then changed back. It's sort of irritating, but until there's a way to override the compatibility check, i think we just live with this work around.

Well I just did the same exact thing you just described and can reconfirm it is still not working with apps installed on my phone. But have not ran into any issue with installing any new appsnot previously installed or restored. Have you or do you use TIBU to backup or restore apps or are you straight stock loading apps from the market directly?

Yeah, like I said. There might be more than one problem. This is just the one that worked for me.
Before I figured it out, I had been restoring (old versions) apps using Titanium without any issue. It's a shame that the market compatibility detection is not quite accurate and there's no way to tell the Market "no really, my phone is compatible."

Blockbreaker 3 HD only $0.10 and runs great on nook color.

Blockbreaker 3 HD on sale now! LINK
Full sale including other games: LINK
The Gameloft apps seem to require IMEI, build.prop and LCD to 160. If you don't have these, your mileage may vary...
Backstab HD was in sale 12/11/11 for the same price and prolly will be again. It also runs perfectly on the nook.
Asphalt 6HD was in sale a couple of times over the last week for the same price and prolly will be again. It also runs perfectly on the nook.
Here's the build.prop edits I have: HERE
build.prop edit how to:HERE (you should backup your original first just in case you decide to change it back.) Don't forget to clear market data and reboot.
Could you tell me which parts of build prop you edited? Thanks.
Im with the above poster. Lol. Ill be getting a nook here shortly, and im new to build prop editing other than vm heap and what not.

Still can't get this to work on my Nook Color.
I've edited my build.prop to the following:
ro.product.model=SPH-P100
ro.product.brand=bn
ro.product.name=encore
ro.product.device=encore
ro.product.board=encore
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
I've cleared out my market data multiple times and rebooted multiple times.
Neither Blockbreaker 3 HD nor Backstab HD show up in the Android Market on the Nook Color, and when I try to get it through android.market.com it tells me "This item is not compatible with your device."
Any other ideas?

The LCD density is already set to 160.
Indeed, I too made the same build.prop changes, verified that the dpi was set to 160 (my encore nightly was already set that way), cleared the cache and data for Market, and rebooted. I verified the build.prop changes after the reboot just in case I erred.
Blockbreaker 3 HD still does not show up on the market and shows as unavailable on market.android.com.
I'm running nightly "cm_encore_full-253.zip" and "gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip". Any other suggestions would be welcome, Blockbreaker looks quite fun. Thanks.

I'm running 253 as well. The gapps version shouldn't affect anything. The only thing left I can think of is IMEI editing, sorry. Gameloft always finds a way to make installing a game 20x harder than it needs to be.
Understood, thanks. I take it then that lack of a real IMEI can cause apps to show as unavailable on the market? (I had only previously run into IMEI problems with already installed apps, like an old version of Touchdown. They didn't work right but they showed up in the market and installed, IIRC.)

I wouldn't have thought so but Gameloft games have a history of having buggy DRM that does everything but a credit check before allowing you to play your game. The exciting news is that with IMEI editing (and everything else) these games are seeming to install and prevent me from needing to scour the darkened alleys of the internet looking for hacked .apks.

CM9 full market

I'm using chrmhoffmann's v0.04 CM9 ROM, and I'm trying to get full market going.
I've used this guide here:

added the necessary build.prop entries,
force stopped Play Store, cleared its data, and rebooted, but still don't have full Market.

I believe FULL market access is a pipe dream. I had to decide what apps I wished to install and look at the threads (XDA Themes and Apps) till I found which build.prop gave me access to those particular apps make the changes clear Market and reboot. Used ES File manager to save the app so I could reinstall locally at a later time. Make the next change in build.prop, etc., etc.
Good Luck

The thing is, I've used the same trick on Team-B's CM7 Final, and got full market with the Nexus S props, but never seems to work for CM9. Perhaps "Full" market wouldn't be the correct term, but for example Gameloft games would show up, and there are a few apps that I look for regularly as well that all showed up on CM7. I'm wondering if certain props will only work on GB and not on
ICS, or maybe the play store on ICS isn't cleared as easily, or maybe I'm just doing it wrong. If anyone has a set of props that allow Gameloft games to show up on CM9 for me to test that would be appreciated.
