I'm confused, if the battery it's the same than the one found on the international version then why is the AT&T versión thicker?
Also I was expecting a lower prize for the unlocked version, it's 600 $ , more expensive than the international versión

According to Samsung, because it has NFC. Also, it's $550.
I don't think NFC would raise the thickness like that..... LTE, YEAH!

its .4 mm ...... .4
just a guess but i would assume combo of NFC and additional camera hardware (front facing camera.

I'm personally thinking is the NFC chip in the battery. You know how the international version can buy the "extended" 2000 mah battery that requires the back cover change, which makes it slightly thicker than the original size or something.

The NFC chip isn't in the battery. The NFC battery is designed so it doesn't block the wireless signal which is why it's different than the international SGS2 battery. The Korean SGS2 is the same thickness as the AT&T SGS2 because it's equipped with NFC.

Oh, so the chip is actually a component inside the phone? Is the 1650 mah NFC thicker than 1650 mah regular though?
I personally think this phone is too thin. Having a case on it gives it the perfect thickness to use comfortably.
so the nfc is on the battery, the back cover or ... ?

Can't say I agree. I bought a case from ATT and after a day's worth of use, I took it off. The case nearly doubled the thickness of the phone, which defeated the whole purpose of a 'thin phone' to me. Your mileage may vary.
Some cases may be thinner than others, having said that I have huge hands, so I may actually need a little more thickness to get a grip on the darn thing (not to mention I really do prefer to have something protecting it). Eager to find out which cases actually fit the device though, so much variation with several different sgs2 models coming out it is not easy to find someone officially supporting the att version.

How durable is the battery cover on the Thunderbolt? Just ordered one and considering an extended battery vs using extra stock batteries due to not wanting extra thickness.
Broke a couple of battery covers on my tp2 due to the cheap plastic build.
i've dropped my tbolt at least 5 times, usually on something hard like concrete or asphalt, and every time the cover flies off and the battery goes flyin'.
the cover is still intact with only a couple small scratches. seems to be at least decent quality even though it is still plastic
Make sure your replacement cover has the antenna contacts on it, or you'll not get full service.

****AFTER SOME USAGE I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS CASE DUE TO SUB-PAR PERFORMANCE******
I received my Droidax case today and first impression is the case is made very well. It has a 1650mAh battery built in so you are doubling your battery life and protecting your phone the same time. I made a quick YouTube video of the case and have attached a few pictures below. The case makes the phone maybe 3/8 inch longer but when you compare it to the outer box commuter case its only 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch thicker. I tried to show this in the pictures below. Hopefully you can see it. I will report back on the battery life after some use. I'm really liking the looks of the case. I think it looks much nicer than the Samsung version that's out there and its like half the price.

I am really digging on this! I like the 2 piece case design which makes it easier to remove the phone. Couple of questions:
1. It looks like the top and bottom mics are covered? I didnt see any holes.
2. Do you know if the phone can still be synced via USB with the cover on?
I had something like this for my iPhone. The major issue, as opposed to switching out to a larger battery, is that a lot of the charge "disapates" in the transfer process from the pack's microUSB to the phonel. Under optimal conditions, you're probably getting 60-75% of the pack's capacity.

Yup, I had the Mophie Juicepack Air for my iphone 3gs and I would get approximately 75% more charge. Though not optimal, is is still way better than not having the extra power.

Yes the instructions say the case will actually use 25% of the batteries power to charge the phone so in essence you are getting 75% of a 1650 mAh battery or if you let the phone run down to 25% you can then turn the case on and charge the phone back to a 100% in theory. Unlike the Mophie Juice Pack this case will actually stop charging the phone once it hits 100%. The case at this point shuts off. Not as much waste. The Mophie would continuously charge the iPhone until it would run dead.
The big push around here has been the 2000mAh battery with cover and then a case to protect it all. That's a lot of $$$$. This case is only $50 with free shipping. $12 to the US for over night FedEx and your getting the case to protect and an additional 1650mAh in battery power.

Hey, just got this case. So far I do like the feel. I had a casemate which provided a lot of protection and the kick-stand (which I did not actually use much). The casemate was pretty large/heavy so moving to the Droidax is not much different other than now I have a lot more battery time!
Will have to see how it goes over time but so far so good. The one thing for people to consider is that this case does not provide any protection for the front of the phone (unlike the casemate)! If you drop your phone face down (especially if it slides) there will be damage to the screen I would think. Other than that not a bad case.

No offense but, that thing is hideous. It takes less than 30 seconds to swap out a battery. For $80 you could buy the OEM charging station (includes OEM battery) + 2 spare OEM batteries. You would in effect have 10,000mah of battery power at your disposal.

They designed it that way to keep NFC intact. Look at the backdoor of your Note and will see two contact points on the NFC antenna that need to make contact with two contact points next to the microsd card slot. NFC compatible extended batteries on eBay have the same design. Also might explain why Mugen is taking so long with their variant because they could not find a work around.
However, that battery might fit with one of the non NFC compatible back covers on eBay. So you could sacrifice NFC for a better look with the extended battery.

I have one of these extended batteries on my Note. I also had one on my Blackberry before I switched to the Note. I require a long runtime with my phones, and I am not going to carry multiple batteries around with me to do so. Tried that with the BB, and hated it, and went the extended battery route.
So...I agree with the previous post about the battery door being stupid looking.
When I bought the extended battery (from ebay), I received a door for an international version of the note. I knew that was what I was getting since the extended battery door for the LTE version was not out yet, but I wanted to see if I could make it fit somehow. I also was aware that NFC would not work with the new door, and didn't care, since I haven't found a need for it yet.
I got the battery and international door in. battery fit fine, but door did not. I tried trimming the tabs a little and was able to make it fit, but not *lock* in place like the door should. The company I bought the extended battery from said they would send me the LTE door when they got them in, (that is another reason I was willing to try all of this).
I got the LTE door in. Yes, it is ugly. I like the style of the international door MUCH better. I am using the LTE door for now. Battery life on this "cheap" 5000 battery has been awesome. Previously, I was getting only about 6 hours per charge. Now, I am getting 10-12, which gets me through my day. No...it probably isn't a true 5000 battery, but for $12, and a company willing to work with me on the door, I was happy to try it out, and I am happy.
As for protection for the phone with an exteneded battery door, I have this coming in:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120841214598?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I am hoping that this will give some slight bumper protection but allow the battery bump to stick out. It only surrounds the very edge of the phone, not over the speaker like some of them do, which won't work.
Ok...to make this post even longer....
Anyone know of an extended battery door that looks like this one:

that will work on the US LTE? I know it won't have the NFC antenna, but I don't care. I just want one that is shaped like that instead of the ugly bump one I have now.

You can get the 3500 mah battery for the same bulk as the 4000.when I first got the battery I still haven't removed it or thinking of that for me it's worth it the bulk that is but for some 55$ is a bit over for a battery price
yeah in that case might as well go with the 4000mah... I should probably upgrade myself still using stock battery...usually last me around 70% of the day

This battery is extremely well. That extra 500 of juice as proven itself useful.
As far as the size, people will get over it. I had a few buddies comment on my phones size and I kindly tell them I wasn't blessed with small hands like them, so to me, it's not big.
Bottom, the price tag for the battery and full package protective case has already paid itself off in my last convoy. Dropped while I was loading up cargo on the deuce and a half and it didn't shatter. When I was in the field, I had the only working cell phone pass the two week mark.
So if you're on your phone a lot and don't always have a power source to charge, this and the 3500 battery are for you. I had the 3500, but again, that extra 500 made a difference with me.

I bought that battery from cowboom in September when this was posted, and it definitely needs the expanded replacement cover as it is about twice as thick as the stock battery. The cover fits well though, unlike the Seidio that has has gaps at bottom of the phone for a lot of people, including me.
There's no way that a 3500mah battery could use the normal cover. Here's the Amazon listing for the same battery where the photos more clearly show the larger cover.

If you're in the US you can get the specially designed branded version made for Best Buy on EBay for under $20. Just search for Platinum instead of Seidio. You can get the cases cheaper that way also if you decide to stay with a factory battery although I've seen a few surface extended cases for less than $10.

Edit: M8 it isnt pure aluminum.. it says 'made of aluminising plastic materials"

The inside of the aluminum cover seems to be made of plastic so no need to worry about shocks.

Thanks !!!

i see. oh well i dont use very often so we will see what it is like!
i think the back cover is not effective for protection. its because when your phone drops, you dont know which part will hit the ground first. thus, you still need a case. lol
Either way protection or not from the images it does look ascetically better then what samsung offers.
I bought for 6.99 free shipping. I got to try it for this price
Before I bought the phone I was all for buying a replacement back but looking on ebay etc has changed my mind, hey I'm confident that I won't drop it haha

It went up a dollar. I'm going to snag it before it goes higher.
guys i bought a case like this for my sisters s4 , and i can confirm NFC doesnt work , also it ads bulk and weight to the phone , to the point where i personally didnt like it , it has a plastic case under the aluminum one.
Seemst to me that would get scratched up and look bad fairly quickly. Unless you put a case on it, but it would be pointless to buy if you're going to cover it with a case. I'd also be concerned about what it did to reception.
aluminium case
I use to own one this for my Note 2.All I can say the build quality is only mediocre.
