Best rom amd kernel mixture for galaxy s2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys im a noob (yeah i watched the video)
Can you tell me the best rom for me?
I want a stable rom and kernel with at least gingerbread 2.3.4 pre-rooted kernel must be overclockable and undervoltable (btw i would be happy if you told me best undervolting settings at 1.6ghz) it shouldnt be a Battery eating rom and i want it to be highly customizable (not really neceasary) and it shouldnt be updated frequently (wont be necessary if it is stable and enough) thx already sorry for bad english and for being a noob this is my very first android phone.

Repetion of standard dumb question yet again.
Five times today already
About time we had a brain dead section.

noob + overclocking + undervolting = wary result.
Anyhow, If bleeding edge is not your thing, you could try Cognition 1.5.1 with Ragemod kernel (in Original Dev). This is quite stable for past MY USAGE and fits your bill.

I would recommend revolution rom in original android development.
Root your phone. You'll need a kernel with clock work mod installed.
Download the kitchen app. Open the app. Press menu download rom. Then install once download completes.
Once done i would recommend tge cf root kernel v4.2 downloadable from the app. It's quadrant scores are over 4000. I only loose 1% battery overnight and another guy using the rom and kernel went 6 days without charge.
This kernel you cannot undervolt or overclock buy clearly you won't need to.

If you have time, try them and find what matches your requirement.
revolution rom with kitchen app is cool option you may try Darkytool too to uninstall or install apks.

im using batista 2.0 with speedmod kernal and it is sick !!!!! try it let me know what you think

You're only going to find the best ROM for you by trying them. Become familiar with Clockwork Mod Recovery and something like Titanium backup and flash 'till you find something you like.
I'm using Villianrom with the Nymphetamine kernal and I couldn't be happier.

Thanks guys im now using sensation with siyahkernel but i will definitely try Revolution with kitchen app

Batista70 Foxhound 2.1 ROM seems great. Also checkROM. I use Revolution ROM. Don't know, just try them all, it's fun!

Defiantly Resurrection Remix or RootBox for now any way
And kernel either Fluxii, CM9 Remix or Siyah

Bumped from last year? Best ROMs are subjective, test them and make your own decision.

ROM + Kernel First use of SG 2

I have my sg2 just today.
Is this a good choice?
ROM: Lite'ning Rom v6.1 XXKH3 - Fast as Lightning
Kernel: Ninphetamine 2.1.3
And must it be rooted or something what I must do first
to know of before I can get this rom installed with kernel?
roms are personal preference. once you have flashed you may or may not like it.
No, there is nothing special you need to do before flashing. Just follow the developers instructions.
i go for roms/kernels that give priorities to batt life
You can't go wrong with lightning ROM. As for the kernel, anything is fine, just experiment with a few when you have the time to see which gives you best performance/battery life. (whichever is your priority)

What's the best Rom/kernel combo?

Hi guys...I dont have an Ace but my sis asked if I could modify her one. I'm an S2 user myself.
Id be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction for the best Rom/kernel combo in terms of stability, speed and battery life.
She has had random reboot problems on stock Rom several times now and has got a new one from Vodafone because of it.the new phone is on 2.3.3 kp6.
I don't know a whole lot about the Ace but I assume it would be the same flashing process as other droids .. Ie..odin stock Rom, root and flash custom Rom?
Thanks in advance.

stock rom with ketut's cfroot kernel will do just fine, or just flash any custom rom based on stock. all of them are using ketut's cfroot kernel anyway. ace doesnt have much kernel choice like those high end device
cm7 kang is available, but its still not stable enough.

Thanks mate. I'm not a fan of cm7 so il stay clear of that. I've tried it on my S2.
So only cf-root is available? This doesn't improve performance or stability though as its a rooted stock kernel..right?

It fixes the screen of death problem, so that's quite nice for a start, I don't know what else it does to be honest . CM isn't stable yet and most of the other roms are pretty much the same IMHO. Just make sure she gets the latest version of cfroot kernel because earlier ones still suffer from SOD.
I'm using TheMyth rom at the moment and it seems to be very stable, but I can't tell yet for sure because I'm only using it since yesterday.

it not just a rooted kernel, actually it contains many tweaks. ext4 filesystem, tiny rcu, custom cpu governor, bln support etc etc. basicly it does improve perfomance and stability.
Glsmt rom is stable, I've been using it since the last 2 months without problems.

So its not cf-root then if it contains those features. Just reAd its a ported version of cf root so that makes sense. Couldn't see anything about cpu governor. What does it use?

I can only recommend glsmt rom, very stable and fast, but very poor battery life. I used it for more than a month and I never got the battery to last more than a day, sometimes it ran out after 10 hours. I guess that's a bit of a drawback .
So far TheMyth rom has the same performance and I'm still on 60% after one day (14h). But it's still too early to say anything about stability .

A Rom For my Ace!!

Hi Guys, Need some help! I want a simple rom. I HATE the Telus boot animation!!!!! This is what I have. By the way, It is rooted and unlocked. Samsung Ace GT-S5830D. Android version 2.3.4.Baseband S5830DTLKI4 Kernel version 2.6.35.7-perf-CL568978 [email protected]#1. Build number GINGERBREAD. DTLIK4
Can I use any rom?? I think the stock rom is ok but I want to add a few cool things. I'm new to this Samsung Ace and I'm not sure what to do. I had a HTC Sensation I did a lot with so I know how to flash and all. This is a different animal. Thanks in advance. Thom
As u might know there are a lot of same qs like this
Unless you are on froyo u can flash every rom
If fllow instructions / guide
Don't Thank me ! Thank The World
I think you'll find a stock-based ROM the best. They are still simple, but faster and have great battery life. Plus they have the stock goodies (I really miss the stock phonebook). There are some pretty good SGSII themed ROMs.
Why don't you try to flash that ddkq8 rom via Odin?
U can try stock roms.
There are a few awesome other cm7 roms too in competition with it.
from XDA app
Press THANKS if I helped
fastest rom ever.
you can use ace of spades here. best and fastest rom ever.
bit.ly/ace-of-spades
I would recomend u stocklite_v6 from tj droid
its a stock based rom with amazing speed and battery life ... welll ... you'll get a huge surprise ! It as a cf-root kernel wich also allow´s u to overlock your phone!
I´ve been using it for a while and i am really satisfied
Look for it in dev. section
Use stock ddkq8 its the latest stock.

I think the best choice is an CyanogenMod ROM, simple, effective, and supports everything without problems
The better choice is CM7.2 by vo-1
and you can even disable bootloader with the ROM Toolbox app
sorry poor english D:
rom
Ace of speed is by one of the fastest, lagfree and smooth rom I tried (it's based on CM7). Unfortunately since yesterday it isn't available anymore. I think the next one I'll try will be the galaxyics, based on cm9 and supposevely a porting of ICS. Before flashing a rom (generally if it's a custom you'll need clockworkrecovery), do a full wipe (even a couple of times) and clean cache and dalvik cache. and don't forget to backup...

Well first, It's ace of SPADES and ICS by galaxyics is unofficial port of REAL ICS on ace.
Back to the topic.
Yes you can flash normally. Here are my suggestions
Since ace of spades is down, I suggest CM7 Unofficial By FAT, or Jusada's ICS Final (but it's kinda outdated), Thse are my choices for CM7 based
As for stock,
Try OmegaROM, TheMyth ROMS (any of em. They look nice.), Stocklite also has a good reputation but haven't tried it myself'
Do everything with Lagfree and turboboost. Except for chinese roms
Hi,
I would recomend u stocklite_v6 from tj droid, it's very smooth and using the latest ddkq8.

[Q] last questions before rooting my GSGIII

Got my SGSIII 1 month ago and I thing now its time to root.
I am coming from an HTC so I am new in Samy's but not in rooting ....
I thing I am going to choose the "Toolkit rooting way" ...
Should I do an nandroid backup from the toolkit or later from CWM? or is this same?
My stock rom is a ZSALG3 Build with I9300XXLG3 BB-Version.
Do I need to consider anything for choosing (CSC,...?) my custom rom?
I would like to have a stock- close Custom Rom with some nice mods and good batterie life?
no need overclocking ......
What Rom and Kernel can you suggest for the beginning?
From my first look I like the Omega (newest) Rom but I have no Idea which Kernel I should choose.
Thanks for your help!
BR from China

Hi I was in the same boat as you a couple of days a go (coming from HTC but wanting to root). Things were a bit different but was easy to get my head around.
I used Odin and everything was explained in the 1st post on that topic. I just followed it to the letter and am now happily rooted! I was worried I would lose data but it just installed recovery and opened the phone for root permissions.
I have since installed criskelorom without losing any data and the battery life has improved dramatically. I've also got siyahs kernel which has made things even snappier.
Overall the process was extremely easy compared to when I rooted my desire hd, but I'm pleased I have done so!

[Q] cm stable or neat rom lite

hey all
so this is basic, what has more speed and extra battery life? according to your normal usage and kernel.
i like neatrom lite because of the way its been stripped down and it has all i need
Custom ROM v Stock ROM

My wife has neat rom on her phone, she likes that because she is not interested in mods etc, in some ways it seems smooth and is certainly very stable. However, I prefer CM based ROMs with custom kernels ala dorimanx or Apolo, and recently my battery life and performance on 4.3.1 compared to my wifes 4.1.2 has far outstripped my her neatrom. That being said, my phone is softbricked until I can replace the mini usb tomorrow as I had an issue today with my set up, so wiped rom to put a backup on, and then discovered I have no root and thus can't get back into recovery and have no rom to boot into, no usb means no odin, thus I am without phone until I get usb fixed. I guess thats the long and short of messing around with custom v stock, custom rom = more risk but potentially greater potential to implement the latest code, stock ROM = safe and reliable.
All that I have said is just my opinion based on my experience, I urge you to get your own and have fun doing it
Lite neatrom with apolo is crazy I can run a whole day with semi-aggressive usage! I just saw the CM had it stable on i9100 very lately thus I liked to try.
