Best rom right now? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I come from the i9000 and on my good old i9000 I used Juwe's rom, and that was good, but in here, there is a lot of active developing, and its been a bit hard to see which are truly the best roms. Can anyone tell me which are the best roms, cleanest, with the most battery life and with no extra bugs in comparison to the stock roms. I've been eyeing the GingerMOD. I've always wanted the stock android experience, but way too much content has been wiped and it worries me. So, recommend me a rom!

Stock Ki3 would suit you best because the stock ROM is perfect if you like the stock experience however if you like to have the freedom of adding/removing themes, apps and tweaks then Revolution ROM is definitely the most popular ROM at the moment for that because of the Kitchen App and constant support
Villain ROM was by far the best ROM I used prior to changing to Revolution and it looks and feels very stock.
I believe any ROM using Ki3 firmware will have the best battery life it is just a preference over which kernel might provide added savings

For me stock xxki3 is the best. I also use ragemod kernel which extends battery life considerably.

The new Batista rom is worth a look very nice smooth and battery lifes great.

I higly recommend checkROM, everything works, its close enough to stock but has jkay for themes and extended power menu. checkROM and revolution are supposed to be teaming up so you can expect even more awesomeness.

There is no such thing as a "best" ROM.

[Q] Best overall ROM/Kernel with customization

Hey everybody recently obtained a Samsung Vibrant, looking for the best rom with UV/OC capabilities and some mods, perhaps.
I flashed two I897's (rogers branded) with quite good results untill i had to make the download mode device due to a AT&T / Rogers compatability issue concerning a stock rom and then custom rom with a not-so-working kernel
So I'm asking for some assistence in the rom/kernel department here and what works best... I love big flashy roms but would take something bland if the battery life and speed was enhanced greatly speed over battery though and 3D wouldn't hurt either.
Cheers, Red Hazy
Most GB roms including CM7 and MIUI have terrible battery life but excellent performance. If your looking for superior battery life flash Bionix 1.3.1 with overstock 2.4.1 kernal. Otherwise try as many different roms as possible to see which one is best for your needs.

The GB/CM7 based ROMs can be fast, but the battery life is horrid. I'd recommend any of the 2.2.1 ROMs myself, either my new one (plug), or for something more proven, Bi-Winning V3. Combine that with Bali-X and you can overclock or undervolt to your heart and battery's content. If you (and your phone) can handle more than a 1.2ghz overclock, there are other kernels that can do that as well.

[Q] Best custom / stock rom for Stability + Battery endurance?

Hi guys ,
as you are well aware I'm new here, and have made an account on XDA so I can share my opinion and also read yours in hope of a solution.
Anyway I'm currently running an official 2.3.6 ROM on my Ace, and have gone through just about everything the Development section has to offer, from TheMyths' ICS to unofficial CM7 Kang builds, but I'm still looking for a perfect blend of stability, battery, lag free (smooth) ROM's.... And need help deciding.
So far I've noticed that the CM7 builds seem to have the best performance (benchmarked by Quadrant standard) and works fine, however I haven't had the time to observe the battery life...
Ultimately an ICS clone would be sick, I love the style, since CM looks fugly in my opinion.
Also would like to know what kind of tweaks you guys use for your Aces' to get a little extra juice from your batteries...
Thanks
Hm....You could try and use SGS2 rom from space caker,or gingercruzt or infinity, both from nims11

The battery life, as reported by many users including me, tends to be rather relatively miserable.

If you want a very convincing ICS look alike, I suggest you pick out a CM7 build and download AChep's ICS theme.

I'm using GadgetCheck's V8.5 Supercharger tweaks, plus Slaid's SlaidFASTMod V2.5 (not updating to his new LagFree scripts since I experience some odd UI lags here and there (ironically)).
If you really want to save on your batteries, try setting your governor to conservative or powersave (though powersave will lag your phone to the point of 1984) and don't overclock (flash a non-OC kernel, if you want).
And check out JuiceDefender. It'll turn off radio connections when the screen is off, and I saved around 165% worth of battery life with that app. The only downside is is that it ****s up with push notifications, and I need those for my IM and email.
EDIT:
I forgot, you asked for a specific ROM.
Well, I for stability and efficient battery consumption, I recommend you just stick with stock ROM (or something based on it), since it was compiled specifically for SGA hardware. My longest relationship with a stock ROM was fla.sh's fla.sh X2.3 ROM followed by sametpoyraz's Glsmt 2.1 (I know it says Glsmt 3.0, but a download link was never provided). Both of them are considered dead projects, but that doesn't mean that the ROMs aren't half bad!
Thanks [/QUOTE]
i've had problems flashing 2.3update of that rom, have you tried the rom?
I Am useing The Infinity Rom Final And Its Great With Performace And Good With Battery Life!
Bye And Salam.
Samsung Galaxy Ace [Rooted]

Turboboast v8.5 And SlaidMOD v3

For stability and speed, I hands down recommend ICS Final. The rom I'm using. As for battery life, you can have the best battery with ANY kind of rom. Just check out the thread on my signature ;D
Thanks for all the replies to my thread thus far... will definitely try that SetCPU... As far as Slaids scripts go however, I did once try that but found my device would have lag, that being screen tearing.

[Q] Need a good ICS rom

Hello
I have just come from a htc sensation with an ICS rom with nova launcher, getting around 20 hours battery life and a no bugs ICS experience with nova launcher and a few tweaks such as miui battery bar, centre clock etc.
I am currently using pure ICS with nova launcher set the way I want and it's very good but the battery lasts about 8 hours and there are no tweaks.
Are there any other ICS roms with better battery life and some tweaks? I can always put nova launcher on top if it is not in the rom.
I don't use the phone an awful lot and have the exact same apps andwidgets as on my sensation, hence why the battery life is strange to me, is this normal for a sgs2?
I was using the same rom , then Andyx from both ics and battery life on both was pants, I then flashed cm9 experimental which is now on nightlies and I think its the dogs bollox, only downside is no USB connect to PC until they fix it, but using from manager premium you don't need a PC anyway everything is straight to the phone, a minor hiccup for an awesome rom
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Have you got a link for that rom? I can't find it anywhere
Might as well wait for release of genuine Samsung ICS .

I have been using CM9 and it's working amazing only thing is you need to live with no MTP, video recording and certain other things I forget *thats what google is for* I highly recommend it!

Aokp is best for tweaks.

you could try WajkIUI if you like MIUI im on this rom for 2 weeks now and i'm really impressed
you could also wait about 2 weeks for ics to be released officially by Samsung
Whatever happened to trying out ROMs for yourself......
ICS is so 2011 we want Jelly Bean
ALL ICS roms which I've tried are not suitable for day to day use. CM9 by codeworx was the best I tried. better wait for a stable release.
this is a beautifull rom [ROM][ICS]XXLPH SconcauTeam Revolution Custom ROM GS2 OTA version

Great ROM. I didn't experience any FC's. Battery life is good. In my case 0 bugs so highly recommended! Check it out and see for yourself.

I don't want to try loads of roms, my main concern with my current one is the battery life so testing lots of roms isn't great for me as I need my phone at work, that's why I asked peoples opinions. I just want a nice ICS rom with a few tweaks and good battery life. I hate touch wiz so the official ICS update is no good for me.
The sgs2 is a lot faster than my sensation but with my current battery life I would rather swap back to the slower phone and get nearly three times the battery life.
There are also a lot of roms for the s2 hence why I asked people rather than trying loads and they also get updated nearly every day.
I suggest you don't go for ics just yet if your only real concern is battery and as for tw, tough luck I'm afraid.
Try the latest stock gb with neak custom kernels. Best battery life I ever had. Oh and on the subject of best roms, that's totally down to personal configuration.

Yes but ICS is a beta test rom base why not wait for roms to be built on the actual working firmware . I have yet to see one ICS beta based rom that does not have a problem or two and they tend to be random and varied judged by all the help ICS rom xxx dont work posts . Plus battery life is not that good on the leaks .
You might get ten replies that ICS zzz rom is good but wont see the hundred users that have removed it .

For instance, I have installed and uninstalled both LPH* and LitePro's ROM based on LPH*. Just don't even bother until the official build is released.

If its any help, i'm using AndyX ROM v5.3. I haven't updated it yet to v6.0 since that has problems with the camera and gallery. Resurrection ICS is really nice but it makes my phone hot for some reason so i dont use it.

IMHO, best ICS rom out there. Using it for 5 days now (heavy user) - not a single FC in 5 days, very stable, fast, customization options rock! Battery life 12 hours really heavy usage / 24 hours moderate usage. No bugs, except video not saving and no FM radio, but these are known...

best atrix rom

what would be the best rom to go to for my atrix?
It really depends on your daily usage and user style. I can tell you that you have 3 options:
2.3.4/2.3.6 Blur Based roms: Roms based on official motorola roms. They are very stable and have all the stuff working. Including Webtop. When i want a Blurred rom, i go with Nottachtrix 4G. Pretty sick and stable rom. Only complain so far is battery life. Blur roms tend to be a little laggy because they have lots of motorola stuff and they make the phone laggy.
CM7: Based on GB. Lots of good stuff and great customization. Great battery life. They have almost all the features working. Only problem with them is that they currently doesn't support webtop.
CM9: Based on ICS. Right now they are on beta stage so they have some bugs still that need to be worked on. We have no drivers for our processor, so the devs are having a hard time coding everything right now, and the deving is a little slow. Currently we have two CM9 roms Jokersax's and Turl1's. They are co-deving so the builds are pretty similar.
Thats about everything we have on the Atrix right now. You better.test them all and decide by yourself.

I am running the cm7 rom right now after trying a couple of them and it is by far the best one I have used. Battery life is great and it realllllly fast. I also have the faux123 1.45 oc kernel. And altogether I have not found anything that works better for me personally.

Nobody can tell you what the best ROM to use is.... Everyone looks for different things in their ROMs... Some like MIUI (which i dont get, if you want your device to look like an iPhone, then buy an iPhone....) Some like CM7, some like stock based.... you'll have to just play aroud with some ROMs and decide whats best for you.

Custom ROM

Witch one of latest custom ROMs for GT I9300 is best for you? From my device I want stable, smooth, without lags, crash, freezes daily use. Battery drain, for me is most important to last one day, until I went to sleep. If you can help me to find some ROMs like that that would be awsome.I used CyanogenMod, is there any better than this one? Also I used Revolutionary S5 and couple of more but this two I used most. What you think of all this ROMs on forum witch one is best? Thabk you for help
Just read the rules first..

As kunal said. There is no best rom. I use a stock rom with agni kernel and lots of xposed modules. It's a good all rounder and it works for me.
The stock roms are workhorses and do the job very well but some people just like the option to change stuff even though they don't actually need it. I overclocked but figured I don't need a hand warmer until winter. Stock roms do well at the standard 1.4Ghz.
Go any higher than 4.3 and the issues will become more common as this device was never designed for 4.4 and custom roms usually don't use any samsung code.
Best to look at it like this: stability/little to no customising vs not so stable/very customisable. Stock or custom roms respectively.
