[Q] [REQ]Sense Zero ROM Port FOR htc Aria - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was paging through the headlines on the xda when i came across this:
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...es-eris-sapphire-and-hero-gsm-owners-rejoice/
It appears to be a light version of Sense 3.5, which I would love to see ported for the Aria. All of the ROMs on the Aria are great, but seem to take hold of a very large amount of internal resources.
I would be happy to hit the donate button for any gracious dev and flash on my wife's aria! Anyone else?

cricket, cricket...

Maybe this could shine some light (if it get's done): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285714 .
Edit: Found out that you've already been to that thread.

Wait a tit...so, you're gonna let your wife flash us?

The Samsung Vibrant. Worthy Buy?

Hello Guys. I was hoping on buying this phone tomorrow. I love the look, the screen, processor etc etc but i see a little lack of amount of Devs like i thought i would see. Coming from being a G1 user for about 2 years now and being in the dream forum you guys probably know where im going with this (constant roms, constant upgrades, hacks for absolutely no reason making having the same ROM for too long annoying) was wondering was this phone a worthy buy? or are things just at a slow pace for now? would hate to buy this phone just for it to get over shadowed by the G2 being available soon and then having absolutely NO dev support anymore now seeing as Cyanogen himself is getting the G2 and there hasn't been a cm6 let alone anything from him released for this device.

While i'm completely grateful for your reply, i must say i've already read that thread and it actually generated my question of if its a worthy buy strictly upon dev work reasons. but thanks very much.

So you thought it would of been a better idea to post a NEW thread about it than replying to the thread that is pretty much relating to the same thing you're looking for as the OP in the other thread?
The vibrant beats the G2 in every other way in terms of hardware. The only reason why its going slow at the moment is because you aren't aware of what has been going on. CM6 was off to a slow start because WesGarner was working on the myTouch Slide before working on the vibrant but now his priority is to get CM6 up and running. CyanogenMod is already promised for the Galaxy S in 6.1, another reason why it is off to a slow start is because Samsung and HTC do their systems differently so it takes time to learn the environment and all that (I'm not a developer so.. I'm 100% correct about this).
It is still a top-notch phone based on benchmarks, yeah there are other factors based to it but the Hummingbird processor is the fastest processor on the market for Android phones. On top of that with Super AMOLED, it pretty much makes it so that when you look at your G1 it looks tiny. 4" is definitely the perfect size.
I'm sure once CM6 is up and running on Vibrant, things will start to roll up. I believe benbuchacher (known for his famous works: SuperD, SuperE, and incoming SuperF) has a Vibrant, Eugene_373 and justanothercrowd are some of the great developers that have been hard at work for giving us things to play with until CM6 is ready. There are many other developers out there that I haven't listed (sorry^)
The Galaxy S is also a international phone (as well as the four major U.S. carriers, people who want the keyboard on the Galaxy S have a option for the Epic 4G), a lot of the files are very similar and tweaks/hacks would work fine. So.. yeah in my opinion its a worthy buy, you have a 14-day (or 30) to return if it doesn't satisfy you.

That other thread was comparing a g2 to a vibrant. asking which was a better buy. I know every Dev you posted along with the basics of the vibrant etc Etc. Not a noob here in the slightest way Was just wondering from a person who has the phone thats all. The bold was exactly what i was wondering and was looking for so thank you for answering that question. Was planning on trying to port some the millions of ROMS from the dream over to this Phone but now i know why i don't see most of them already here. Gonna Do some research Now. Thanks alot fellow. And Yes I did think it was going to be a Better idea since you answered It quickly, efficiently, and there was no reason to read comments on things i wasn't really concerned about to find my answer. See how it worked out? Thanks again.
It's starting to leap ahead slowly. They found out how to flash kernels thru recovery just a couple of days ago so there isn't much more need for using a program called Odin to flash kernels. Odin can be pretty unreliable sometimes with the random crashing, I have yet to experience this but some people have. Definitely makes the job easier.
I was a huge fan of the "Super" ROMs, I definitely know what you mean by ROMs.. there would be a new one every other day and it would be fun to flash them and try it out then nandroid back. I'm certainly hoping for the same thing here, I'll admit that it is a little bit difficult when all the phones are seperated with their own forum but there is a proposal going around about merging all of them together (I9000,Fascinate,Epic 4G,Vibrant,Captivate)
Sadly i think the Vibrant is a great phone but wont have quite the dev as the G2 will. The G2 will probably be picked up by the likes of Cyanogen himself so it will depend on if a dev like him wants to keep it going or not. Had Cyanogen picked up the Vibrant and ran with it i think it might have had more possibilities. However i picked up the phone i had the G1 for 1.5 years (was a T-mobile Employee and got it 2 weeks before launch) and then switched to unlocked iphone for .5 years now im on the vibrant and im loving it. The android community has grown since i have been gone however i think since its samsung and not HTC that is what the problem is.

The main reason why Cyanogen picked up the G2 is because he doesn't condone manufacturers to put their custom interfaces over it. Cyanogen prefers stock Android. The OP said himself that he is a porter so he is a developer, I don't think it'd be a wise idea for everybody to just follow Cyanogen because there are definitely the people using the Galaxy S phones who would enjoy the same amount of modding.
There is larger room to make a name for yourself simply because there are less developers but there is definitely a large community for the phone that wants modding support.

Great phone, great experience and everything, does get kinda boring after sometime because i feel the phone is great the way it is, so until froyo theres nothing to really get excited about.
anyway great phone, and if i had to do it over again, i will still get this phone.a
I love it. Ive used just about every flavor of manufacturer-skinned android, along with vanilla (2.1 on G1). I can say after using other skins, TouchWiz 3.0 is pretty great. Vanilla android always wins, but this skin didn't feel as useless as some others.
I am coming from a mytouch slide, and a G1 before that, so the thought of a phone with no keyboard worried me. However the screen is the perfect size, and I'm pretty fast with swype. Not to mention, I had this phone rooted within 10 minutes of getting it home, whereas I never got the Slide rooted.
CM6 is coming to the Vibrant. Development is going to pick up. The Galaxy S series is on all four major carriers here in the US. I know we're going to see some interesting things happen.
I've had a lot of fun with this phone in the short time I've owned it, so I can definitely recommend it. And about the G2, it doesn't exactly seem light-years ahead, and if you wait for it...like magic the next superphone will be leaked and your attention will be on that.
So I would say get the Vibrant, you'll have a lot of fun with it.
...oh and I typed this out on it.
The only reason I might not get this phone is because of A. Its Sammie so who knows how long the official 2.2 comes B. Its not HTC so Devs will have to get accustomed to the phone C. It has Touchwiz. I could deal with Sense for a bit in waiting of CM6 or just stock 2.2 Android but playing with the phone in the Tmo store just turned me off. Looks like I will have to get a N1 or maybe wait for the G2
To me the entire CM6 is so over hyped its insane. The devs working on things are doing great. The phone is awesome as it is and anything beyond what it is now is pure gravy.
If/when CM6 hits I'm sure it will be awesome, but if you are holding out on the idea of that then well your going to miss out on a great phone.
The "devs" in the Dream section mostly produce hacked up beta garbage that never reaches a final release. Thanks but no thanks, I don't like flashing my phone 23452434 times to find something that works properly in ALL aspects. Then when you try to tell the devs what's broken they pitch a ***** fit and start complaining because they released it with known bugs. SICK of it.
There are a few that are worth the time in the G1/myTouch section but most of it is garbage and I had both devices.
Difficulty
The phone is worthy in every aspect of the word. This is an HTC forum. Luckily for us we have a very popular phone. I doubt we will go the way of other non HTC (AND SOME HTC) phones.
I am enjoying this phone, bloat and all, especially after the lag fix. I do enjoy an elegant vanilla though. But in its current condition would enjoy this Vibrant for at least a year.

Okay first off. Touchwiz is pretty good now. Touchwiz implemented pretty cool features and it isn't as bad. Dont criticize it if you haven't ever tried it. Samsung has already said froyo will be released sometime in September. Stop degrading a phone that you've never used.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Since the vibrant is fairly new and with the Froyo rumored to be out in Sept., I just don't see why any dev will want to spend all their time making a rom for a phone that might be getting the 2.2 upgrade in a month. I'm sure once the Froyo update is out, the devs will start their custom roms... For those that doesn't like the stock home launcher setup, just goto the market and get Launcher pro or ADWLauncher. Both will replace the iphone look alike. As far as lag fix and GPS fix, i didn't use any and my phone seems to be working like it should without any lag or gps problems.
I am not too into the whole ROM thing, if anyone could PM me the info in what it is for and why it is always great, it would be greatly appreciated. Anyways, back on topic, I like the Vibrant the screen is responsive and the huge screen makes typing a breeze(on both landscape and portrait mode). The processor is the best you can get right now on the Android OS and the screen is just amazing. The bad... Touch Wizard 3.0 is really good but coming from other Android devices I miss the App drawer so much. It does take getting used to, and if it is really that bad for you, then go get an open home theme. Or maybe stock Froyo installed(is that a ROM?) That would be nice, because the Vibrant would be perfect if it just had a less skinned theme. Great phone overall.

[ATTN] Ideas/Requests, Slide is fading FAST... o_O

sino8r said:
That sure would be nice but alas... not true. Speaking of chief_reloaded, has anyone seen him (not literally of course) around here? It seems like everyone has just left the MTS without a simple goodbye. I remember eugene & htclay bidding farwell but it seems like other devs have just left the stage quietly. May be development is halted somewhat because of the MIA 2.2 ota? Any theories?

Well, Im still here (KingKlick quote kang lol), Im still around and I still troll the threads, but ur right... It is partially because of the missing update for froyo... I thought about what ppl would want in a ROM on the slide and I honestly couldnt come up with an answer... I mean, were running an arm6 device... Meaning ports and such are only possible of things everyones seen before... Legend, Hero, Aria, etc... I dont wanna put out the same old stuff unless ppl actually want that stuff... I did that kinda work on the G1 and MyTouch but it seems those roms are outdated tbh... With CM6 available, I see no reason to do a ROM from source (2.2) cuz thats obviously what CM6 is... So im in the dark for new ideas... If someone wants to start a request thread on ROMs they would like to see be my guest... I will watch it and work on such but i think we have covered all the options already untill we get an espresso 2.2 OTA or another arm6 device gets a sense froyo update... Let me know if ppl have requests... Im nt doin much but would love to put something out ppl want... CR
So I decided to start the thread myself and just C n P the post from the other lol... Im so lazy Anyways.... Give me some ideas of stuff you would like to see while we wait for this vaporware 2.2 OTA we were promised... Im outta ideas tbh and this device seems dead... CR
Reserved for list of ideas and requests throughout the thread so we don't have the same things mentioned over and over....
Its not a rom cuz I'm happy with cm6 but I really want rw access but have been too busy to look at it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773278
Funny that you created this thread because I was kinda thinking it...
The only Three things that I personally would find very useful are:
a CM6 Rom that had the Market app w/o a T-Mobile button (I want the download button), and with a fully functional keyboard Lights/LED status indicator
A nice Dark theme that was comparable to the Stock OTA ROM (I liked SenseUI), Maybe something like the xRom themes from the 'old' days
And, the third which you are unable to fulfill, is the 2.2 update for the Stock Sense ROM
Besides that.... just like you said, your only finding another way to skin a cat..
Thanks for your time and efforts on the MTS
I would have to agree with that.
My vision 2.2 froyo with rosie.apk with livewallpaper enabled and viewable without aftermarket launcher (aka adw, launcher pro, etc...) sense widgets stock framework.apk (possible ability to customize within system settings "not sure if can or not") id like to keep the dps manager I like the ability to adjust the sound. Complete working keyboard and leds. OC, stagefright enabled. Opera Mini as the standard browser, gapps, and working wifi tether (ad-hoc and usb). Market with download button and I think that would about cover it
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
So once this 2.2 ota gets leaked for the slide then we.can get full root including enlocking the bootloader.
I am loving my slide but man it gets old not having new stuff too do to it. Guess the g1 got me sPoiled .
1 request could you find out why dumfuqs 844 oc kernel is not working on all phones
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
I like the eye candy of SenseUI, but prefer the stock mail apps (both GMail and Exchange). It would be nice if we had the ability to use either or both. Other than that, I'm not entirely certain what to ask for.
I have noticed that using your 1.35 OTA ROM, I cannot update Google Maps from the Market. If I do that, Maps won't run. IT FC's and won't execute. I'm not sure what's causing that...
I would like a port of any 2.2 sense rom if there were any mdpi devices with froyo sense. Not too worried about keyboard lights as I hardly use the hardware keyboard anymore
But I figure the g2 is what everyone will move to when its released later this month.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Are there any touchwiz devices that are mdpi? That would be a nice port rom
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
It's kind of nice you made this thread. Ever since G2, most of the people on this board are going to move on. Makes me sad.
This is not a request, or it could be. I hear it's not possible, but I'm not sure and I don't know why it would be?
Everything Espresso, much like your CM_Rom which is pretty much stock, but with additional parts from CM6 and torch, and the ability to change certain features while everything is retained Espresso. That's my perfect rom. Vanilla is nice, but that is so G1. I love it, but Espresso is pretty cool.
I just switched to the darkside and bought the epic 4g. Killer phone and I am getting better service in my area with sprint.

Stock "Starred in Android" Functionality
I really miss the stock functionality that lets you star Google contacts as "starred in android" then limit the contacts display to only those contacts. Alternatively, some way to sync those starred Google contacts as faves would work also.
An updated Legend to slide rom. I'm just saying it would be nice.

And how about fixes freezes/reboots from this?

It really bugs me when people say the slide is dead. Go look at the Aria's forum, see how many ROMs and mods they have. It seems kind of ungrateful to Chiefz, Cyan, Biff, Eugene, Dumfuq, and even r0man after all the work they've done for us, for you guys to say our device is dead.
Anyway, I'd love a more functional Aria port.
More themes would be nice, and I'll start doing those myself.
the aria /legend ports are sweet but a more complete pot would be filled with badassery :3

They've all been sayin' it's dead. Who do you think the original poster of this thread is you mentioned?
Some guides or links to some good ones on porting perhaps?
I dont' know to be honest theres not much of a point in seeign diff roms if all that's diff is the apps dir and a theme

[Q] htc flyer rom on gtablet?

Was just wondering if it would even be possible for us g tablet owners if we could hope for and see a htc flyer rom port. I'm no Dev so I don't know how hard it would be. I would donate if we had a 90-100% port.
What's everyone else's thoughts would you like to see this or not.
+1 I've been trying to figure out if its an option for a future rom, I'm not a dev either, have searched and dont know if Sense 2.x is possible on the gTab and just not attacked yet since 2.x is only htc phone based. The first tablet version of Sense is the flyer and probably too soon to port over.
All that said, even with the roms already on my list to flash I'd love to play with the new SenseUI on my yet to be delivered gTab somebody chime in for us clueless ones

Beta testing?

I wanted to post on another thread, but since I haven't got a post count, I can't.
(member for almost a year though)
I currently have a Samsung i9000, which is purely for dev & test purposes.
(I just bought a HTC Desire S for daily use).
I will also have a HTC Hero as soon as a new battery arrives. (on order)
I am willing to to test anything, from custom roms to apps, nightlies etc..
I've a fair bit of experience in beta testing of PC software, and used to be a windows dev myself.
I know how to write bug reports
For now I'd like to focus on testing on the Hero and the i9000, as I need a working phone for daily use. (and I haven't played with the Desire S enough to not screw it up)
On the i9000 I can flash any ROM you want me to test apps on (official ones: 2.2, 2.2.1, 2.3.3, 2.3.5, 2.3.6), ICS, Cyanogen or MIUI.
The Hero I haven't been able to try anything yet, since I can't boot without a battery.
I'm seriously interested in this one for instance:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518731
I'm using a dedicated macbook for playing with this, which dual boots into win7.
Let me know if there is anything I can add, thanks to reading this forum I've learned a lot about android and the tutorials are excellent!
(hence me being a member for so long, without questions...)
Cheers & thanks for this great resource, it's time to give back!

[Q] Need suggestions

Ok here's the deal: right at this very moment I'm working on modifying a MIUI ROM, but I want to completely build, from the ground up, a ROM that isn't very big, but offers alot of customization, but satisfies EVERYBODIES needs. I'm currently only developing for the CDMA Evo 3D but I will be working on the MyTouch 4G Slide soon. Keep in mind that as of right now I ONLY WORK ON HTC PHONES and I might start working on the Samsung Stratosphere soon. Leave any suggestions you would like to see below, and I'll see what I can do!
